#4322 Fifth of eight quick finds in freezing rainy weather while travelling from Mildura to St. Arnaud. TFTC

I really enjoyed the fun at the posted coordinates, some of the questions had me chuckling, then a nice hide, good one.Unless otherwise mentioned above, I found the coordinates to be accurate, the cache in good condition and the log dry and with plenty of room to sign. Thanks for placing this cache for the rest of us to enjoy.Day four of my Riverland sojourn and after a late night last night i am starting the day in Loxton again. Today i have to head home but can spend the whole day getting there. First off i am collecting some caches in and around Loxton, then i want to head south to Pinaroo and cross back over to Victoria from there. I will head to Ouyen and work out where else to go from there. The first three days of this trip have been very productive with plenty of kms travelled, lots of finds, and a number of goals progressed. I hope today is just as much fun, and just as successful.I have become a little obsessed with the badge gen award system on project gc, well actually, very obsessed. To satisfy my craving i have been kept busy compiling lists and routes and destinations to improve my stats. As i calculated and plotted, one destination kept appearing at the top of the list, i just had to make a trip to Mildura and the Riverland area asap. It has been some months since i came to that conclusion and put together a comprehensive list of caches to target so now i am unsure why each cache is included on the list or what i will find once i arrive at gz. I checked out the forecast yesterday and realised that the next few days offered a window of fine weather before rain. I decided to throw a few things and the geopooch in the car and head off, it is with real excitement that i am finally getting to enjoy this trip.

Day two of a Mega couple of weeks.LB and I are on yet another road trip to the eastern states. We are heading to the GC9PNFB - Capital GeoBash Mega event and so the adventure continues.Last November I was on a road trip with LB and locus cache, we stopped in Ouyen to try their award winning Vanilla Slice and for me to grab some numbers for this cache. As my travel companions had already claimed this smiley, and we would have had to back track for me to claim this find, we left it. Today Ive returned to make the find and claim my TFTC cruisinbluesKeep smiling

On my way from St Arnaud to the Adelaide Mega with a planned overnight stop at Ouyen I targeted this Multi cache to be found. Being 40 degrees when I arrived I rested up in my accommodation for four hours before venturing forth but unfortunately the temperature was still 40 degrees. At the mural I gathered the information and worked out the coordinates. the cache in good condition was found. Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for our challenge and enjoyment..

Travelling and caching with Jack and Purrfect Di. Day one. A slow start. Only one brown snake. Mostly good cache finds when we stopped... and a almost midnight landing in Kerang! We don't usually do multi caches while we're travelling but decided to give this one a go. The coordinates were easy to find and the final location wasn't too far away, a quick find. TFTC

On a road trip to the Rutherglen Mega with the JAMS crew stopping a few times on our way to stretch our legs and grab a cache or 2. We did target multis on our trip as I only needed 10 to reach my 1000 to fulfill a couple of challenges. This was the first. Big Grin

Thanks for the cache cruisinblues. Smile

** 1000th multi **
I was on route to the Rutherglen Mega. Stopped and we made a quick solve. Made a quick find. fav point for my 1000 th.

Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

I do enjoy a good vanilla slice. Shame I couldn’t get one today.

I found your D2.0/T2.0 Regular Multi-Cache called Goodbye Vanilla Slice on 3 April 2023. It was find #17598 for me. Thank you cruisinblues for placing this cache for our enjoyment in the wonderful state of Victoria.

Rutherglen Mega Trip. [^] Day 1 - Getting there. Home to Balranald.
Once again Anymules and I set out for Victoria to attend another Mega Event.Cool
Getting there is always part of the fun and today we set about finding caches in three States in one day. Razz I had already done some, Anymules had already done some and some we both needed. This is what I found - or didn't find. Big Grin

In State number two for the day we stopped in here and admired the mural. Got the numbers and off to GZ which of course was the wrong direction we intended to go. Surprised What a strange tree. At first sight of the cache I thought - oh no - as it was succumbed to UV cancer. Twisted Luckily the original had a secondary container within with a nice dry log book. Smile

Nice fun multi. Really enjoyed the use of the mural. TFTC

The only problem with vanilla slice is that you have to scrape off the disgusting icing. That's kind of what the cache looked like too. Kudos to the kind cacher who added an extra container to keep the log dry.

Heading to Canberra from Adelaide we are collecting LGA’s along the way. This one provided a little fun thanks for the adventure & I’m thinking I need a vanilla slice NOW!!!

08-Nov-22
Brad has been sent to NSW for a week or so to assist in the flood disaster response. Pretty hairy time. And lots and lots of water and mozzies. And dead cod. And black toxic very smelly water. And water on roads. And blocked roads. And lots of mud. And rain. And river levels getting higher every day. And lots and lots of sandbags.
Only caches were caches of opportunity or on the way over or back. This was one of those.
Found on the way over after collecting info

Unfortunately we have had way too many Vanilla Slices on this trip! It's the only way to find out which is the best! Bought some lunch from the bakery and ate it in the nice little shelter shed near the mural. Gathered the answers whilst munching. Found D a little ambiguous but we must have got the right answer as a short drive had the cache in hand. Thanks

Another cache find on our 2022 South Australian Adventure, yes I know we have wandered over the border, never mind. It is a wonderful day, just perfect for geocaching. Thanks to all the COs for taking us on this geo-guided tour.

18-May-22
We got the clues and calculated GZ late yesterday and decided to wait for morning to search for it. After refuelling for our trip to Adelaide, we drove close to GZ then got out for the search, which was thankfully brief. As previously advised, the container is damaged and needs replacing. However everything inside is in good shape.

Day 20 of our southern trip. On our way from three nights in Charlton, to Red Cliffs near Mildura for a good few nights. We Team 4 4 QLD - RoddyC, hatzofff, Snickersallan and Grannysmith1947.

Great mural, but we weren't too sure about those Surveyors!

At GZ, the container is certainly damaged, so we put the log book inside a 200ml Sistema to help keep it safe inside the main cache.

Log signed and cache replaced as found on January 29, 2022. TFTC, cruisinblues

Caching and travelling with RoddyC snickersallan and grannysmith1947. Signed as Team 44Qld.

Added a container for the lig book but the outercache really needs TLC.

RoddyC got his vanilla slice and I got a GF caramel slice.

#12975 - 4:09:00 PM; Day 3 of the Wang Mega tour with Sol de lune. We didn't quite get to Echuca last night, but we did enjoy comfortable accommodation and a great meal at the Falcon Hotel on the highway right next door to the Downunder Dunny. After collecting that cache, we set off for Echuca and a spot of caching in and around the town, avenging a couple of GCA DNFs from our previous visit. We then hit the Murray Valley Highway again as we headed west before turning onto the Mallee Highway near Piangil for our next overnight destination, Mildura. No problems getting the required information and adding our names to the log, before continuing on our mission. TFTC cruisinblues Smile

17-Jan-22
After a couple of great days in and around Wang at the Mega, followed by a drive to Echuca, LuckyL10n and I were now on the road from Echuca to Mildura. The plan today was to stop for a few selected caches...those that looked good, those with a few favourtie points..as well all the regular and large caches we could find.

Left Echuca around 9.30am, arriving in Mildura around 6.00pm. All caches we attempted were found, apart from the one that was completely burnt out, so all up a good road trip. Now home
and it's time to log.

Thanks to all owners the along the way, and apologies for the generic log.

12-Jan-22
Day 1 of the Wang trip. Time for afternoon tea. Who does not love a snot block.

e.Gregory1 and Freddo decided to travel to Wangaratta for Geocaching Victoria’s first 2022 Mega event. The attraction of GeoMaze icon was just too tempting. We packed the Land Cruiser for a bubble environment. There would be some public exposure but we would be keeping it minimal. Fortunately we did not bother with any warm clothes. Fortunately we packed some Bushmans with +20% DEET. There were caches to find and we found caches. We saw a lot of interesting places and met the occasional geocacher or two in the field.

I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count.

This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and a Samsung S8. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs...

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

12-Nov-21
Day #8 of the Birthday Bush Bonanza. It’s a miserable day weather wise across Victoria so a great day for some driving. I packed up camp early and said goodbye to the others. Today is about ticking some LGA boxes and hopefully filling another Ausmer spot on my grid.

Having driven past this very cache only 30mins earlier without realizing it was there I returned to the area and spotted it straight away once I had calculated the coordinates. The cache had some water in it which I emptied. The log was dry.

I love a good snot block and have made my way to many country bakeries to try them. The winner for 2021 was just announced in Bridgewater (I have sampled theirs on a number of occasions and definitely rate them). With 7 out of the top 10 from Victoria we (and our waist lines) are in for a treat.

Thanks cruisinblues for the cache and for contributing to the game.

How convenient. I park my coach beside this mural each trip and have had amply opportunity to gather the required information. However, although I have driven past this cache quite often, I have had passengers on board each time. Sad
With Covid lockdowns limiting passenger movement I've been waiting for a return trip sans passengers. Today was the day. In fact, 680km without any passengers Smile
Suitable coach parking nearby made for an easy find and retrieve.

My thanks to cruisinblues for this cache. It's a shame that I think the snot blocks at the bakery are inferior to the ones at Tatura bakery, another place I drive past very often.

19-Aug-21
Geocaching is leading us to towns and LGA’s we’ve not visited before. Our goal of finding 31 multi-caches this month is getting very close. The mural contained so much information. Naturally we went to the bakery for lunch and shared a snot block afterwards. I’m sure this cache is very good for their business.
The very generous sized cache was found in good condition.

Thank you for your cache and adding to our memorable road trip in regional Victoria. A favourite point from us.

The Vanilla Slice (AKA Snot Block, Phlegm Sandwich) is one of Mr. Dromaniax's favorite things to buy at a bakery. To say goodbye to the Vanilla Slice would be like losing a limb. We visited the mural and obtained the required data and subsequently miscalculated the coordinates, which, when we approached, would have put us smack dab in the middle of a livestock auction. A quick recalculation and we were headed to a place we had only recently visited, and we made a rapid find of the cache. Although the cache container lid had a small hole in it, the cache itself was in excellent condition. We took the opportunity to stop and have a cup of coffee and share a Snot Block. Thank you for this cache cruisinblues.

04-Jul-21
Found as Nicnax with PapaGrouch. We had searched all over Ouyen for somewhere to buy some lunch but everyone was closed, so we had to resort to making our own sandwiches. We sat at the table and had our lunch then made our way over to the mural to collect the information to calculate the final. Had a laugh at some of the options we had to choose from. We made our way to GZ and made the find, the hint finally made sense when we got there. TFTC

We are returning home to Sydney after a windmill quest to Adelaide. Ouyen was our lunch stop on the way to Mildura today. Couldn’t go past a big mural and a vanilla slice. Had a picnic lunch while we studied this great mural and then did our calcs. We were uncertain about where the new coordinates were pointed but they proved to be spot on. Have to say that snot blocks are not our favourite pastry but we did our civic duty anyway! SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

What a great mural in town and a lot of detail.
Got the info required and soon after the GZ...
Headed back down the road and made a quick find at GZ.

14-Mar-21
Had a good laugh at a couple of the question. Very entertaining. Easily worked out GZ, but arrived to a large group of muggles conducting quite a big unofficial CITO event along the highway. I was able to find, sign and replace the cache without raising too much suspicion (I think). Hope the cache survived the muggle CITO, I think it will, I re hid it with a bit more camouflage.

Today is the last day of what I’m sure will remain my busiest caching month ever for some time. As it turns out, this coincides with a road trip towards Canberra, so today’s mission is to collect some new LGAs.

First cache in Mildura LGA even though I passed through Mildura twice on the last big road trip. A lot going on in that mural, and some of the answers weren’t what I predicted.

Have a look at the theatre next door too.

Thanks for this multi.

11-Oct-20
TFTC. We had spent the last few days in Mildura finding the caches in the PS series. We we’re now on our way home to Maryborough. A four hour trip that took over seven hours to complete. Why let a cache go by. We are not up this way very often, so we decided to make every post a winner on the route home.
We had collected information on our way to Mildura. N our way home we did a short detour to locate the final GZ.

11-Jul-20
I am not sorry to see it go. It was really overrated and I did try one once and not for the first time questioned Mr Kennett's judgement.
The mural was nice though and it was easy to discern the numbers and make my way to the final. All good here
Cheers

I'm staying in Ouyen in our caravan for a few nights while M rushes back to the Big Smoke for work requirements. While he's gone, I'm busying myself with finding a few of the local geocaches. This afternoon while I waited for the 35° temps to recede, I took care of a few chores in our air conditioned caravan and then once it was cooler, I headed out on my trusty bike to find a few more. I'd taken photos of the mural last night on a walk but I wasn't confident I had calculated GZ correctly. I'm too used to having a checker.
We had a vanilla slice in Ouyen many, many years ago before we discovered the trick of how to cut them in half - slowly with a warm, dry serrated knife is the best way if you don't want to eat the whole piece yourself Razz

Thanks for find #1713

After spending the last couple of days traipsing around the Murray Sunset National Park or should I say slip sliding around the wet and muddy tracks with a great bunch of fellow cachers it was time to get back to the bitumen and head towards home.
I finally made Ouyen for the night and after spending the night at the caravan park and having a yummy tea and a couple of beers at the pub I got up nice and early to find a few local caches before heading home.
I worked this one out last light and hopefully I had the right coords for it.
I must admit I’m not a fan of the old snot block as I would rather a chocolate eclair or a yummy lamington with a good helping of cream.
My coords were spot on and I soon located the impressive cache,
This is the last one in town so it is now to head south to get home and get over this fantastic weekend away.

Thanks cruisinblues TFTC.

After our early morning walk and breakfast at a local cafe - we checked out of a nearby motel and continued our day out caching on the way to the Event in Swan Hill to celebrate 8 months to the Whittlesea Mega. This is my 5th cache for the day. Bunadoorian and I had solved these questions before we went to breakfast. I loved the size of this cache container. I was able to buy a Vanilla Slice at the Petrol Station last night and lucky I did as the bakery was closed today. TFTC cruisinblues.

08-Mar-20
Wow what a container. I could almost fit inside lying in wait for the next unsuspecting geocacher. TFTC and for bringing us here.

06-Mar-20
Found with the geofamily - I LOVE Vanilla Slice. I tried one in Ouyen years ago and it was just ok... The ones in Birchip though as amazing (had one en route here). But i need to get to Bridgewater near Bendigo soon as they are the reigning champions... Anyway - I managed to gobble up this vanilla slice multi! Many thanks.

Found on our way up to Mildura for our extended caching weekend. We all enjoy a vanilla slice but after a long drive up from Melbourne, I was looking forward to a cold beer instead.
Thanks for the caching fun cruisinblues

A nice easy multi. LOVED the mural, and of course, had to get a piece of vanilla slice and a cuppa while we were looking at it. Nice to find such a large box, but not much in it at the moment. TFTC

Found by Roma and Max.
We always enjoy a vanilla slice.
This is just another case of what the small town loses the big city gains.
Thanks cruisinblues for placing this cache, a pleasant way to break a long drive for us.

We enjoyed this short multi and the mural very much. Large containers always welcome after a long day travelling.

Suscoe left home bright and early this morning.
Our destination was Ouyen via Underbool.
Lovely blue skies, pleasantly warm temperatures as the day passed and quiet roads.
Oh, and some really interesting caching locations and hides along the way.

Thanks to cruisinblues for this mulit.
We do enjoy a Vanilla Slice on occasions.
Cache in good order.
A favourite.

After big caching long weekend in Canberra, I was on the return trip to Adelaide picking up a couple of caches along the way.

I stopped at the mural on the way East. Once I saw where the final was, I decided to wait for the journey West before going for the find.

At GZ I was a little concerned my calculations were incorrect, but thankfully i found the cache after a short search.

Thanks for the cache.

A quick stop to stretch the legs, a quick calculation and a short detour back to GZ, the cache is well contained as it has heaps of plastic bags.

A huge weekend away, with over 2000km being driven over 3 days from Adelaide to Mansfield via swan hill and Echuca, then return via Bendigo and St Arnaud. The target was to collect 11 new local government areas and mostly stop and do some multis.

But the main goal was tour of Mansfield, a cycling tour consisting of 3 stages over 2 days (Saturday and Sunday).
Stage 1: 14km Individual time time trail.
Stage 2: 76km road race finishing up old Tolmie
Stage 3: 46km road race finishing up the top of mt bulla.

Wednesday I left Adelaide for Victoria via pinnaroo, I decided I would stop when I had enough of driving. I camped in the back of a cemetery yes a cemetery, nice and peaceful in Nyah. Thursday I made my way from Nyan to Mansfield via Swan Hill, Echuca and Shepparton with 2 trips over the boarder. A lot of DNFs on caches as some were barrow red off due to road works and others I must if stuffed up. I ended up camping the night in Mansfield. Friday I held my event in Mansfield with a big show of 1 (just myself)!!! And went for a drive up mt bulla. Saturday was mainly racing and Sunday after the race I made my way back to Adelaide via Victorias oldest cache and some new roads through the middle of victoria that I had never been on before.. With arrival on Monday at 1am back home. A big trip out and a great weekend away with a little under 100 finds.
Thanks for the cache placements by all the cache owners.

15:00 the container is very brittle, it has not been replaced. The ziplock bag from September has basically fallen apart. I've added another plastic bag, as I also didn't have a container big enough, and also put the log in its own bag. I'm on my way out of town, but if some kind cacher wants to stop at Vinnie's in Ouyen, they have secondhand tupperware for cheap.
Log dry, pen working. Took nothing, left key.

This geocacher reported that the container is damaged.

Found on the way from Adelaide to Deniliquin! Very hot day today. At first I didn't realise it was a multi - and couldn't find the container anywhere. But then common sense kicked in, and I soon found the little sucker! Thanks CB.

With it still over 41 degrees in the evening I could blame the sweat in my eyes for the trouble I had finding the surveyors. Once I found them though I wasn’t expecting that. A great mural. TFTC

Heading to Swan Hill to do some geocaching over the long weekend. Stopped to find out which numbers we needed and headed to gz. Cache found quickly and contents dry. Have put the container in a large zip log bag to help it stay dry - we didn’t have a container big enough to replace it completely. A fun little multi. Thanks cruisinblues!

Found on our way home to Mildura. Cache container has compelety disintegrated . Someone appears to have stowed the log in a smaller conatiner amongst the ruins so I've packed as many swaps into that smaller container as possible and CITO the remains of the original cache.

Cache container has disintegrated. Smaller contianer containing log book found among ruins but smaller container is also starting to become brittle from sun exposure. Remains of big container taken away.

My 87 year old Nana is unwell so neisha07 and I are off on the 4.5 hour trip to Mildura to see her. (6+ hour trip for us with stops for caching!)
We detoured via Wycheproof on the way there then back home a couple of days later via 2 of the Silo's that hadn't been done when last we traveled in this direction.
A nice little getaway. TFTC

As others have said, the lovely large container is no longer. We CITO'd what could fit in the paper bag I had handy.

Found on our return journey from central NSW. I'd been here many moons ago to collect the clues but hadn't done the sums nor travelled to the cache. Today was the day to complete unfinished business. Nice multicache, much appreciated. Thanks for the cache cruisinblues!

Found on our travels from Geelong to Mildura seeing silos with Flaggys. We didn't get a vanilla slice, but we did get this cache and stopped with our caravans for morning tea. TFTC.

Found while staying at the Ouyen Caravan park. Had a hard time finding the strongman, but once I did, the cache was soon in hand. The log book container is good, but the larger swaps container has crumbled away, and is full of water. TFTC.

JSando and I headed to Mildura with TheirMum tagging along for the long weekend to host a Geocaching Victoria event to promote The Parkville Event in November. Whilst at the event, we met up with Jaktembo and decided to cache together for the rest of the weekend with this being our first. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in and around Mildura, visiting many different locations that we'd never see otherwise. Found on our way home. Thank you so much for bringing us here. TFTC

Found by Mary & David at 1315. Had lunch at the Mallee Bakery and eyed off their vanilla slice, but no passionfruit icing! We did the "Merbein -New home of the Vanilla Slice" cache yesterday. We loved the mural here, so a FP. Dropped off "VIPER RT10" TB. Our thanks to cruisinblues.
