A pleasant easy walk to the summit. Hardly a "monster" hill. Good views. I found a bonus trig to log too that was not on my list. Some wild flowers. Most of the birds were hiding. Pleased I visited here. Favourite point. Then I went down the other side to log the traditional cache hiding there. TFTC firesafe.
We are on a caravanning trip around Australia seeing the sights and finding a few caches along the way. We called in here for a quick walk. We did see one enchidna on our walk. Thanks for putting this earth cache together.
Found by The Empire + HThe morning after the Warrnambool running festival, we set off on a longer journey, driving from Warrnambool to Murray Bridge. Our route takes us through the quiet, scenic roads of western Victoria, offering us a peaceful escape as we begin our journey. The walk up isnt too strenuous, but it gets our hearts pumping just enough to feel invigorated after hours of driving. As we make our way up the rocky trail, the surrounding landscape unfolds, offering sweeping views of the farmland below. The granite boulders scattered along the path give the hill its rugged character, and we pause a few times to take in the expansive scenery.Once at the summit, were rewarded with panoramic views that stretch far into the distance. The vast plains of South Australia lie beneath us, with patches of farmland, native bush, and rolling hills extending as far as the eye can see. Standing atop Mt Monster, we feel a sense of quiet accomplishmentboth from the walk and the journey weve been on. Answers sent, thanks for the earthcache firesafe.-MEarthcache #442
Had a lovely wander getting the Earthcache and Trad here. Also spent an inordinate amount of time looking down, not up, hunting for orchids. Heaps of plants identified, no flowers however. Thanks heaps firesafe for the cache!
Lovely walk around the park. Had to look up why Blue Gums are called that - apparently the leaves can look blueish Would have been nice to see the Meleleuca in flower but wrong time of the year apparently. Wes and I are from Corio in Victoria and were heading from Naracoorte caves to visit a friend in Whyalla
12:16En route to the South Australian Mega Event, second day - Dimboola to Tailem Bend. Collecting smiley tokens on the way. It was interesting to note the caches we had found on previous visits over quite a few years. This one was a bit of a test for our old bones. We enjoy earthcaches as they teach us more about the geology of what we call our gameboard. Logged with a tick from the CO.Thanks to firesafe for creating this interesting earthcache. 36584

Continuing on my South Australian adventure. I stopped by this earthcache. I took a stroll to the top of the mountain. When I was almost back to the geomobile, I came across a pair of shingle backed lizards. They seem to be fairly common here, but are not in my part of Queensland, so this was quite exciting. Thanks for bringing me here. TFTC
On a lovely sunny winters morning we set off to log this cache and wow what a great view thanks for being us here
Coming back with PPE and Crash 2079 after our delayed visited to Millicent.
Many a trip to Millicent had been planned, locked out or down. More recently a plan was hatched for 4 of us to attend but enroute our number dropped to 3 which meant so re shuffling and re prioritising.
We (PPE and Crash 2079) held our own event, Grumpy Over Millicent or better known in our vocabulary as GOM amongst other TLA’s of the same acronym. It was great to meet some of the locals.
Many an adventure was had with TOTTs of various types. The weather left a bit to be desired with fleeting bursts of sun but mostly wind, over cast and plenty of rain but we still managed to hoist poles and ladders and climb trees.
A rewarding walk and climb with district views.

Road tripping with the kids and this sounded like a cool place to explore (driving past thousands of caches is so hard)! Ha ha. This was a great spot! We did the loop then up to the summit. Answers sent! Enjoyed a picnic lunch back down at the car. Thanks for highlighting this area.
This is a place we'd seen in the distance for many years - but never had visited until today .
Enjoyed our walk to the summit and drive around the tracks . Looks like a nice quiet place to camp [^].
Took photos. Left footprints. Submitted answers.

Day 3
Spending 3 days in Mount burra for a bit of R & R.
Heading back to Adelaide after a nice relaxing weekend with a few caches thrown in. Decided to stop past any interesting caches that caught my attention
There was no notice board at the start to gain any info so I have had to try google research to get the information missing. Nice walk to the top and met with a great view.

So many times we have driven past the sign to Mt Monster and not turned off.
Often at night on the way home.
Was an education and a pleasure to climb the peak of the monster with Sebastbat.
with a GCA trig cache as a bonus...
A nice place with great views all around.

A nice cool day to climb up the mountain with hevwalker and LiB. Not a fan of the steps the calves were burning and breathing abit heavy but was good for building my fitness up which I really need to do obviously. Well worth the climb to the top. We helped a family take a family snap, took some shots ourselves and some selfies and then went off to find the cache, we climbed all up and down and over the rocks to go over to the next large section of rock only to find out after you can follow the trail.....lol...typical for me taking the harder and scenic way. Thankyou so much for making me fitter and sharing the fantastic views with us.
Quick find while on way home from Melbourne after nieces wedding, so detours caching on way home. TFTEC
A great little spot off the main road. Really enjoyed the short time spent here,
A big weekend away down to the south east of the state, the major focus was to par take in the 100mile (160km) cycle classic around mount gambier on the Saturday. Along he way as always there and back I collected a few caches (near 100 on my round trip)
Thanks for the cache and its placement.

We always enjoy an Earthcache and so we pulled off the highway to undertake this one. We are so glad we did as what a great location this Earthcache led us to. Just out of interest the birds that we saw during our walk weren't those listed except for one, and so we feel it won't give anything way by listing them here - i.e. we saw Superb Fairy-wren, Grey Currawong, Buff-rumped Thornbill and Willie Wagtail. After having taken the Altitude reading at the top of Mount Monster we continued on to seek out the nearby Traditional cache before returning to our hired cache-mobile. We have subsequently sent our answers to the CO who we thank for the Earthcache and a favourite point awarded for having bought us to this great location. Greetings from Zimbabwe
Following an early minute from work, I packed my car and driving to Mount Gambier for the weekend to do a bit of scuba diving around some sinkholes and caves. I stopped to walk around Mount Monster, whilst also making brief stops at Keith, Naracoorte, and Penola.
I had this destination with these two caches many times during my travels, and they either seemed too far, not enough time to give this location justice, weather, or just being too dark. Today, I planned on doing a side detour and rest stop at Mount Monster on my journey, and glad I did. The views were better than my expectations, and enjoyed clambering over the granite to reach the top. Cheers firesafe on an enjoyable Earthcache.

Well we are both Halloween fans so Mt Monster was a bit of a draw card. The Earthcache was quite an interesting one and the answers have been sent in and we have permission to log.
Now for a walk to see a trig....
Based in Meningie last night we were heading home the long way.
This weekend's mission was to get to 10,000 finds.
Initially the plans were to do the ROTF series, but a combination of not realizing that I was so close to 10,000, plus not wanting it to be a boring power trail cache for my big number AND the trail was on such a bad road with awfully incorrect hints and coords, so we abandoned the original plan at about 3pm and concentrated on just seeing the sights and finding what was along the way. It was much more fun.
The end of the weekend had me at 10,010 finds and quite pleased with the rest of my weekend.
I had found 5 types of geocache (trad, multi, mystery, letterbox and Earthcache) and seen some amazing wildlife and scenery. Basically the ideal caching trip.

Headed over the border into South Australia for a June Long Weekend caching trip to Meningie. To hit the ROTF trail (but we abandoned that after only 96 finds on it) Oh and to help sharkiefan make it to the big 10,000th smiley.
Today we were heading off back home via the back roads and to go via Mundulla as there is a nice cluster of caches to grab here.

Being a bit of a Halloween nut and a little dark at heart, and sharkiefan also a Halloween fan. This was one area we had to go and visit. Also with this cache we can say we climbed up a Mountain on this trip.
Loved the view from the top interesting to see all the flat land around the district.

I drive past this location many, many times a year but as I am leaving the area I thought I better make an effort to revisit this location and get a few answers. Very quiet today. Last time I was here I encountered a snake that thought the path was for his sleeping area today I walked without any reptiles visiting.

Heading back to Victoria after a sojourn into SA, I think to pick up a replacement for my previous GeoPatrol which managed to destroy the engine. Parked in the carpark and took the walk to the summit and collected information to meet the logging requirements. Birdlife was very scarce today, heard a few while walking but first saw some magpies on my return to the GeoPatrol.

Logging with permission of CO. Apologies for late log. I am often in Keith this time of year for work and it is generally very hot so not keen to be out walking a bush track. But on this day the morning was cloudy so off I went to grab the information for this earth cache and find the other nearby cache. The view from the trig point was spectacular. Thanks Firesafe.
found on the start of a 8 day holiday to portland ( Victoria) then exploring the surrounding area. I short walk up to the top grabbing the information and seeing some of the wildlife flying around. nice views from top.

Returning home from Naracoorte after getting the geomobile serviced. [:0] It is not a long story, just a family matter.
It had been raining quite a bit down there but it was bright sunshine here.

Beautiful Saturday for a drive with Darknstormy to Keith for the header demolition derby and chase a few smiley faces. Grabbed a few to do caches to break the trip up, and this is Earthcache was the favourite as sometimes you just get tired of stuff thrown under bushes.
Other than the Geo experience I discovered that I need to calibrate my altimeter properly.
Thanks to Firesafe for this interesting part of the world. May have to come back here and camp a few days.

We thoroughly enjoyed having this place all to ourselves as we camped last night. The dull sound of the traffic in the background and occasional glimpse of headlights were all that indicated how close the highway is. WE drove in not expecting to find anywhere even remotely like a camping spot and were delighted to find this lovely place. The loop walk this morning and the earthcache just added to the joy of being out in the Aussie bush.

On a quick two to three day get away by myself. Heading over to Tailem Bend and Murray Bridge to pick up a few smiley face along the way collecting mostly Earthcaches, Letterbox Hybrids, Wherigos and 'Finds by hidden month' I need to fill - Plus any others that are nearby any of the rarer types I'm after in boosting my numbers a little.
After leaving on Home on Sunday I was fortunate to have excellent weather on my side and a great run also traffic wise, which was great as it enabled me to get quite a lot of KM's done and caches done too while on my way to Tailem Bend for the night and get an early start on the trail in Murray Bridge.

Today we visited Mt Monster as we drove from Naracoorte to Adelaide. Thankfully the weather was an improvement on yesterday and made for a pleasant walk. Along the way we saw three different species of birds and heard two others. Despite the relatively low elevation, we were surprised at the views we enjoyed from the top. Thanks firsesafe for an interesting and enjoyable Earthcache.

Made a detour on our way to the June LWE in Mundulla. We were pretty happy that we did as we found there was a good road that would take us there straight from Mt Monster and enabled us to stay off of the highway and all the idiots travelling for a long weekend.

We saw the sign to Mount Monster on our way to Victoria, and commented we must call in there some time and see what's there - such a fascinating name. We had more time than we thought on our way home so in we went, and we were glad we did. Took a leisurely stroll around the nature walk, enjoying the different vegetation, habitats and scenery along the way. Had a snack on the summit whilst taking in the views. On the drive out of the park we stopped at the old mine which has filled with water, and were delighted to see a very large tortoise swimming in there. Thanks so much for the Earthcache.
Nature is sure awesome. It works very slowly but gives us massive results. Thanks to the walking trail pamphlet that we downloaded from the internet before heading out to Mt Monster we learnt so much more about the area.
We did not see any echidna and would not have realised that they lived in the area without it, we would have assumed, wrongly, that it was rabbits doing the digging. We walked the Gwen Ellis trail with the numbered markers, a top walk. Joyce's Plateau gives a great view out over the side away from the trig point side.
We choose to make this our lunch stop and enjoy the ambience of the area.
Logged with permission of the cache owner. TFTC and the wonderful stroll around the area.

On our way back to Adelaide, we stopped to stretch our legs with a bit of a walk up a monster. Cautiously drove the hire car into the parking area (and happy to find a parking area!), we read teh sign before heading off along the nature walk. Sadly, not a lot of birds around and not much of a view either as it started raining not long after we started our walk. On the positive side, we both had raincoats on for warmth anyway! TFTC, firesafe. =^.^=
On my way to Oz Mega from Bordertown, I did a few caches to break up the trip. This was the first, in a place I'd visited precaching (many years ago), just because I liked the name of the place. I submitted my answers and received confirmation that all was good to go.
My thanks to firesafe for the cache and for bringing me back here.

I found the road into the park. But where is the road out of the park?
I flew into Melbourne on Sunday, rented a vehicle and am driving to Oz Mega in Murray Bridge. Of course I am trying to find some caches along the way.
Today, Wednesday, is is my third day of caching in Australia. This is my first caching trip south of the Equator, so I am finally getting some S's to go with all my N's. And this is my first caching trip east of the Prime Meridian, so I am finally getting some E's to go with all my W's. (My trips to Europe and Asia were before I took up geocaching.) Thanks for the cache. This cache is my find number six (6) for the day, and find number nineteen thousand four hundred one (19401) overall.
May all your days bring you more smiles than frowns . May your year 2014 be better than your year 2013 was.
Cache on!

Found by Mary & David at 1020. Leaving Padthaway in company with the maccaholics family, and heading for Goolwa and eventually the upcoming Mega. Really cool today so we all have extra layers. Our two grandsons particularly enjoyed the walk to the summit, where we found a huge number of millipedes in residence. We've never seen so many in such a small area. Great views of the surrounding countryside in all directions. Logged with the CO's permission. Sorry to learn that you won't be at the Mega. We'll just have to catch up another day. Our thanks to firesafe.
So we visited Mount Monster about 3 weeks ago and in our excitement to climb the rock we forgot to check the answer to q3 only realized when back home and ready to email. So this week on the way home from ADE I swung by Mt Monster again to collect q3 answer. Loved doing this cache and visiting the other caches at surrounding chunks of granite. TFTC
After sorting out some final business for the mega event we headed home via Portland to catch up with Dad for a few days and of course we couldn't drive straight passed an earth cache.
We drove into a very pleasant parking/camping area and headed off to collect the required information and as usual learnt a lot more about the geology of this great land.
We got a little bit of exercise getting the last answer that was required and after reading the information on the boards we were able to look at the area with a totally different outlook.
Many thanks for setting this one up Firesafe and prompt permission to log, a favourite from us.

Great area. Fantastic views from the summit and informative nature walk TFTC firesafe
Have sent an email to the cache owner with my answers.
An awesome spot - nice to see some kangaroos and evidence of wombats on the way to the summit.
Loved the view and enjoyed the geology lesson.
Was particularly interested in the fact that they monster was once an Island. TFTC.

I had never been to Mt Monster before so this was a great place to stop and stretch the legs on the way to the Grampians. As for any answers - ask my husband TFTC
A long time between drinks for this cache!
Having been here before I was familiar with the place, but A hadn't ever visited before, so it's handy that there were a couple of caches so that we got to see a bit of the park.
Will shoot the answers through when I find what Anja has done with the notepad that they were on!

M & M were on a pilgrimage to mogni's and Mount Gambier for a spot of visiting and caching. We have been at this spot before and had to turn back due to inclement weather. This time Mark was determined that despite Mary's misgivings we could do both the traditional and Earthcache here in the dark. The sun was very low in the sky when we arrived and as earthcaches are more important than traditionals, we headed off in search of answers and the peak straight away. Kangaroos greeted us and seemed confused by our presence in their home environment. The gentle walk only became a little difficult in a rocky section that included some steps that injured ankles do not like. More importantly, Mary's injured ankles were not at all happy. At this point we decided an Earthcache in the hand was worth more than an unhappy Mary and so headed back to the car. It was hard going, Mary even resorted to walking backwards down the steps which uses different tendons, this didn't hurt much but seemed a little silly.
We really enjoyed this cache, took pictures and hope to upload one or two, but not until this crazy weekend is over....TFTC firesafe.

[blue]Congratulations this cache has reached the voting level for the SAGA Awards 2012, please find attached graphic for reaching the Final voting stage of the Awards.[/blue]
I have meant to attempt the traditional cache here a number of times but have always been running late, today I had just enough time for this earth cache and the traditional while heading to Naracoorte.
I say a guy with a stack of gear as I pulled into the parking area, but there was no transport around. We said our g'days and I went my way. On my return he asked me where he was and how he could get to Range Road (I've never heard of it!) He had been sleeping rough for a couple of weeks, and his girlfriend had dropped him there last night and was supposed to pick him up at 9:00am
(it was now 11:00am) and his phone was flat so he couldn't ring her. My car was already choc-a-block full (strange with only one person in the car but with the bike in the back and the passenger seat set up with the laptop ..) and I didn't have a mobile phone with me so I couldn't help with a lift or a phone call.
Oh, the view from the top was a surprise, and I saw a couple of small birds on the walk.
This cache has been logged in anticipation.
Thanks for the trip firesafe

It wasnt until I got back to the car after getting the info for this one that I realised just how hot it was! 40 according to the measuring device. A good spot for a cache of any kind though.
Had a lovely walk all the way to the top with the kids. We saw a lizard, a hare and some lovely birds. Thank you for bringing us here. Tftc.
I was back at this mountain of monsters today to find out why they like it here so much
Setting off from the carpark I soon bagged me a few answers, but I would not be satisfied with my foray into monsterdom until I had conquered the mighty pinnacle that crowns this parkland
A great Earthcache that provides a bit of exercise and some mighty fine views.

We were heading close to this EarthCache and there was no way we could let it pass by without visiting.
We hiked to the top and were really surprized at the view from the top as it didn't seem that hight.
We enjoyed the spot and the nature trail too.
Thanks to firesafe to showing us this Monster of a spot.
Email to follow.

Found with Mum & Dad.
On a trip to Adelaide we stopped off and found a few caches.
What a great way to spend some lovely October days.
Thanks to everyone who has hidden geocaches for us to find.

This was one of the many places we visited.
Thanks for the Earthcache Firesafe.

Third time here, always a great spot...
First time was on a Beaker's Bunch multi, and came away with a dnf!
Second time here was for the re-constituted cache by BB as a traditional, and got my furthest from home FTF
Came back today, to actually learn how this was formed.... Impressive!
Email sent to owner for confirmation.
Thanks FireSafe.

Found with the dynamic duo Freddo and TeamWaldron. This monster is always a stack of fun. The crows were very healthy..... [8)]
Promise I did not leave a plastic dinosaur! Thanks to firesafe and clear skies from TeamAstro.
The monster has been a long time coming but eventually it erupted. We did not see the eruption.
The height was high enough to get a nose bleed.
We were hoping to find a dead crow choked by a power cable or stabbed through the heart by an anchor. Sadly we saw an eagle being chased by a pack of stinking magpies.

Have visited this spot a couple of years ago for another cache, enjoyed a pleasant stroll to the trig after picking up the required info along the way, a chorus of sulpher crested cockatoos followed our footsteps, a few kangaroos were disturbed along the way but it was on our drive out that we came across a pair of echidna's ambling across the road that made of trip here memorable. Permission to log has been granted TFTC Firesafe
A good place to get out and stretch my legs while Daddy (o'cholio) took lots of photos. I was scared of this spot because Daddy said there was a monster here. Now I can see his photo, I know what he means, but I do not approve . TFTEC Mr Firesafe.
We've visited this spot in the past, to get the cache at the top. Dropped by at twilight on a trip to Vic to revisit and get the answers to the questions. A pretty spot that stands out over the otherwise dull landscape (even more duller when you've done this stretch of road a zillion times!). TFTEC firesafe.
Forgot to log it after sending Firesafe all the important info loved the are and the views even a cache or 2
