Have been wanting to come up here for quite some time so today is the day for a bit of a walk and some fresh Spring air. Wasn't expecting to find this after the last 2 DNF logs and the last find almost 2.5 years ago. After searching one rather prickly area I moved slightly back and actually think it was the dog that led me to it!
Cache itself is safe and sound and I had no trouble or acquired any scratches retrieving it. Log book is very wet but pat dried enough to write my name.
Couldn't read the number inside cover so will message the CO TFTC drawp

We were going to do the skyline walk as we are staying nearby and this is the first time I have found the entrance to this park. Also, it is a gorgeous autumn day. However, this was the first of the series for today and we looked and looked and simply could not lay our hands on it. Since we couldn't find this one we decided to go down into town and find some other caches instead.
Very sharp and to the point. Around and around the mulberry bush!!! Whew found in the end. Log is very wet!!! Tftc.
Did not come prepared for Matt and Gary. after too many loops the it was hiding at the "one more then i go" bush.

Out with busy paws on a caching holiday in Oamaru. We are out in the rain finding smiles. Have just realised I forgot to note the code word so will go back tomorrow. Thanks for this cache drawp.
Having a great time in Oamaru with coconuts3. This was a bit of trial and error to find, but found it was! Will have to come back one day and complete the rest of this walk from 3 onwards. TFTC
TFTC- quick find today with NZ Bozzy while we are up in Oamaru blitzing some unfound caches and collecting souvenirs
Day 7 - of our epic adventure around amazing Oamaru. With Geofest17 and Danseys Pass and A2O bagged, we are off exploring Oamaru again. These feet are made for walking - so lets checkout this awesome Skyline Walkway.
Another one snagged and tagged on our wander over these hills. Cheers

Taybeedragon and I are here, on the Skyline Trail, primarily for just one reason: The final provides the missing D/T for the dragon to qualify for a local challenge. But let's face it, the trail is a great walk above Oamaru, with a number of wonderful little spaces scattered throughout.
After Skyline #1 I thought we might be in for tricky hides everywhere. Eventually one might be our undoing, but luckily, this one was easier.

I was a wee bit rainy today, but we carried on to finish the the holiday on a high. A nice quick find. Cheers.
Time for some final caches around Oamaru, and then cruise on home, with Kiwi Moose. Signed the logs K2MR for brevity. Thanks to the CO's for the Caches.

Out and about with Karma Reprint this weekend, it was time to claim the Skyline walkway. Hosing down most of the way and the southerly blowing, it possibly wasn't the best weather but the occasional view when the clouds parted made it worthwhile. Nice and easy this one. Cheers
Today our last day in Oamaru we spent mostly picking up local traditional caches, it was a wet day, but good for caching anyway. Today was also the day our team broke 4000!
thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches for us to find

Oh I remember boxthorn bushes back in the day I was farming in Taranaki. I left Geocchi to hunt for this one Picked up Gonzo and Miss Piggie Tbs.Tftc
Nice quick find on a wet miserable night out grabbing a couple png caches with rayzr2. Tftc
In town with Jag50 and Aiden29 - for the Labour Weekend Geofest.
A nice quick find here. tftc:)

Joined up with Aiden29 and BertieB to head south for the Geofest in Oamaru. We arrived a day early and decided to tackle this series today. Loving the views and the sheep here. Quick find at GZ.
First day down in Oamaru for the Geofest with Bertie Blowfish and Jag50. As the weather was so nice we headed out to tackle the Skyline walk. Wasn't expecting so see so many sheep up here. Another straight forward find here.
Heading towards the Oamaru Geofest.
I crossed the great Waitaki and began caching in earnest, wending my way towards the Challenge Caches.
Challenges complete with time now to head up onto the ridge for a few more.
This Skyline series looked like a good thing to complete while I was in town for the weekend. Surprised that we can go here during lambing. I walked slowly to ensure they didn't take too much fright. Made a few circles around GZ and eventually spotted the prize.

We were over in Oamaru having a committee meeting yesterday. It was a long productive meeting. No park and grabs due to the Camper breaks being stuffed. The rain is bearable at the moment.
I dropped 3 travel bugs off here.

Thanks. drawp for putting in the effort to hide this geocache. This was find 4705 for me.

Before heading back to chch after our geofest meeting yesterday thought we (nosynel and i) better get a few caches, although it was raining it was bearable. Nosynel dropped off a few TBs here. Cheers for the cache.
Woohoo #3000. We made it quite a full day with A2O park and grabs and alot of dnfs stopping me from hitting the milestone finally spotted this had been replaced and we were off . Quite a few scratches as you would expect from gz but one of the kids manage to spot it gotta love the good old plastic jar ( shame I didn't find the original I was told it was a goodie ) still deserves a fav
#12473. Once we read the cache description Troodles was quickly on to the well hidden cache. TFTC.
After finding half a dozen caches in the morning, it was time to head back to the motel for a warming cuppa and something to eat to sustain us for the rest of the day. Because the weather was so good (apart from being a tad chilly), we decided to tackle most of the caches around the sky line trail - which turned out to be more energetic than anticipated.
After getting prickled from the bushes in the area, we decided to read the cache description. Ohhh, we shouldn't be looking there. Adjusted my sights, then soon spotted the nicely hidden cache. Good one, TFTC.

Showed a few friends the mystery of geocaching, the skyline Walkway was perfect for that! Cool Caches, nice view over Oamaru!

Out with non.cacher, while he wonders off to find the cache I admire the view once finishing admiring I set off to try find it too, my gps says I'm one metre off I turn around and there I find it in plain sight
After grabbing a nice lunch from the New World supermarked, we headed up here to find this cache with all its FP. While G took photos of the views of the coast and mountains, I made the find. Not your usual cache, that's for sure! Cache container was a little damp but the LB was nice and dry. Beaut cache - thanks a lot
We've been here a couple of times before with no luck. Back with a friend today, who had found this one before and still it took us 10 minutes of looking before we finally stumbled over it. This is definately a tricky one and well worth a favourite point. Foun with Aoraki Sheep.
Third (or is it fourth?) time lucky for us here. Thought we were going to leave empty handed (again), even with a previous finder with us but perserverance paid off. Clever hide! Found with debsnz
I had a suspicion of what we might be looking for but lots of sheep poo, a few scraggly bushes and some prickles were all we found at GZ. Looks like we will need to come back!
Nicely hidden but quickly found on our New Years Eve raid. Well camo'ed. Gets a fav from us.TFTC
Here I have no luck. I was looking around 15 minutes, but I could not find the cache.
It is really very good hiden, maybe next time.

Found GZ or thereabouts... had read previous logs very very carefully... so it was hands and knees carefully raking through the sheep droppings by hand... and then Hinemoana found it! Completely unexpected hide, great camouflage job.
Crawled about for a bit, could not see anything, but all of a sudden was holding onto something I did not expect TFTC!!!!
Found quite quickly by standing in it and slightly breaking it. Doesn't affect cameo or use. I was not expecting this sort of hide, doubt I would have found it with out the noise of it breaking. Great Hide. TFTC.

This one took a bit longer than the first,. I checked round and about and got a few scratches, then made an "Ah ha!" and cursed the crafty CO a bit. .

We had a wee bit of help from two other cachers, but it still had us hunting for some time. Then I nearly......No wont say..we dont want to spoil the hunt for the next Cachers.Have never seen this type before, very clever.TFTH
This is going to be one of those, I can see. GZ in grass for me opening up a huge range of possibilities. Maybe another day.
Thanks for placing this cache!

3rd visit with info from PAF and I don't think I will find it unless the CO takes pity on me and supplies instructions for a 5 year old. without giving anything away, I don't think the CO can find it except for knowing where to look. (I realise that appears obvious but CO will understand)
Thanks for placing this cache!

Very clever indeed. Really liked this one, so it's getting a fav point from me. TFTC.
Finally! With the school holidays now upon us, we felt it was high time to tick this one off the list. A lot of stubborness went into this find. Thank you Drawp for a great experience!
after finding the bonus cache decided we would give this one another look. Found it this time, tricky hide well done TFTC
This was a challenge and a half. After searching for ages, we conceded defeat, and headed for #3. After finding and retrieving #3, we returned to the car before realising we had omitted to get the word off the plaque. Mr W.E.K.A. returned to the plaque, while Mrs W.E.K.A. decided to have a further look for this cache. Amazingly she went almost straight to it this time! A very impressively designed cache, deserving of a favourite. TFTC
DNF this time, very tricky. Will try again another time. Hope the neighbours didn't report us!
Decided to go down to Dunedin to attended the first ever Mega in New Zealand and my first ever MEGA. Managed to work it out so that I was able to team up with -gonefishing-, fozzmiester and agcnz on an 9 day caching trip around the South Island, this was day 7 of the road trip. Today we were making our way form Oamaru to Timaru for the night and picking up a few caches on our way and it was another beautiful fine day.
After finding GC3R56M - Skyline Walkway #1 (North Otago), this was the next cache that we had on our list to find today. The walk to GZ didnt take too long and as we neared GZ, reading the description and realising who the CO was this was going to be a matter of good luck or just fluking it. As we neared GZ, our GPSr started pointing us to a spot that looked promising and we soon spotted something that required a closer inspection, and we soon realised that it was the cache.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks drawp for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (5225). Another quick and easy find here today, glad that we managed to find it quickly, can just imagine the frustration that a cache like this can cause.
Now how far is the next cache, oh yes just over there, this is 2 of 15 caches to find up here .

Even though I had previously found a similar hide, this one still took a wee while to get the log in hand. Thanks for the cache drawp.
Found as part of an epic NZ Mega Event trip. Day 7 - Oamaru and surrounds before heading North to Timaru in the company of agcnz, -gonefishing- and Yeetrees. Thanks to the owners of the 500 + caches which I had the pleasure to find along the way and which contributed to a very fun trip.

Found on the great post-Mega roadtrip with agcnz, fozzmiester and yeetrees. A great trip from Otago to Wellington, taking in many backroads and some fantastic scenery along to way to over 400 caches. Thanks to all the cache owners for the great caches we found on the way.
Having found a similar hide on the Wellington Skyline, it was just a matter time before we found the spot.
Thanks for the cache, drawp.

Came here with fozzmiester, -gonefishing- and Yeetrees on a fine morning after staying the night in Oamaru. By comparison with the first, this one was a bit devilish, but with 4 pairs of experienced eyes searching we were sure to get it before too long. I see that the CO has been learning bad tricks from these evil Wellingtonians, there is a very similar (but easier) one there Signed log, TFTC!
Were determined to find this after our hunt was interupted by the police last time. After a good search it was in hand. Very clever. TFTC.
After spending 7 hours getting from Invercargill to Oamaru yesterday, decided to do a few around town today. Thought we'd try our luck as we couldn't find it last time and there it was. Not going to spoil things but this is very sneaky. TFTC
Well no cops this time thank goodness and after the search last time and a bit of pondering in between times was great to get it this time Very enjoyable Looking forward to doing the rest of the walkway Were so excited about finding it even forgot the code so had to find it twice Great fun
At last!. After quite a few fruitless trips I had decided this might be too clever for me and I would wait until I saw some more Smileys before I attempted it again. Reading the last logs I could certainly have helped the Police with the cache owners details!. Out on the hunt this afternoon with the cache owner and after a successful run he took pity on me and asked if I would like to have another go at this.
I leapt at the chance, couldn't really believe my luck and despite the thought of being surrounded by armed police I jumped out and traveled yet again to GZ but this time under Supervision the find was made!.
I have never seen anything like this before!
It is nice to have one a bit more challenging locally but it would have been a long time until found it.
A great hide!
Thanks

Spent a long time looking for this cache but couldnt find it. We were approached by a nice policeman who said that a neighbour had seen people looking for what they thought could be drugs. After explaining what we were doing he was quite happy to leave us to search more. Another policeman was parked in front of our car to stop us from leaving. We moved on pretty quickly and were glad we had dropped mother off before looking for this cache. You certainly have some experiences when you are out caching. We will be back to look for this cache.
Well this one got me too Well and truely Were grotherling around amonst the prickles for much longer than i should have been when I saw a police car coming down the road Quietly walked behind the bushes to be out of sight only to see the car pull up and a nice young policeman get out. Next it was excuse me What are you doing could you come and have a chat I gingerly appeared from behind the bushes clutching my GPS It seemed some neighbours had rung up reporting people were acting suspiciously So after explaining what we were actually doing he was quite happy with that as he had heard about geocaching but not details He now knows that there are a few more up in the reserve in case he gets anymore calls and he has no idea who drawp is as he asked who had put them there To top it of when we looked up at the car another policecar was there blocking off our escape Thank goodness we hadn't left mother sitting in the car as we do so often She would have had a fit.Anyway lots of fun and laughter in the end apart from not finding the damn thing I will be back
First of the day!, returned to this site yet again after my previous effort and despite a long time searching still came away empty handed.

A day between Oamaru and Timaru. Found a few I'd tried (and failed!) before, and a good number of new ones. Always enjoy caching in this part of the country. Thanks.
Returned today with a bit more time up my sleeve but despite another search could not come away smiling!

Had some time this morning and decided to try for an FTF here while on vacation. Interesting location. Never seen so much sheep poo. Had a devil of a time getting it all off the shoes. The bushes in the area are nasty! We do not have those back home. Spent about 1/2 hour before we had to leave. Oh well it was worth a try. Thanks anyway.
I agree wholeheartedly with previous log. Geomum and I first came to this area last night to see if we could nab a FTF, starting when it was twilight and returning to the car, in the dark, much later with our tails tucked between our legs. But both she and I were determined to find it, and returned to the spot this morning to see if we would have any luck in the daylight ... Which turned out to be very wetting rain, bitter wind and thick fog. Heads hanging in shame, we headed for home after a good search, leaving no plant, tuft of grass or fence post uninspected. Nasty bushes, nasty weather, sneaky little cache. I'm positive we'll be back for a third try.
