It seems the CO of this cache is no longer active. There has been no response to cachers' logs stating the container has water inside and the log book is saturated. These logs started in April 2016. A Needs Maintenance has been put on it on 8th August 2016 and still no action has been taken by the CO. Whilst in Stanley a couple of days I checked on it and it is indeed in bad condition. Time to let this one go and archive it I think as the CO was last on geocaching.com on 26th March 2016.

Found on a visit to the North East for New Years.
Hot conditions meant it was hard work going around but the caching was great fun.
Cache log is wet and cache has water in it. We drained what we could.
Thanks for the hide here.

Quick easy find at a really nice little spot. Log is wet and needs replacing. TFTH
Stopped here this morning to admire the reflections in the dam, soon found that there was a cache here and a short walk later the cache was found. The log was very wet and needs some TLC.

#1859 We decided to have lunch at this point in our cache outing. Mr BGF went and found the cache which unfortunately did not have the lid secured and all the contents were saturated. Emptied out the water, but the logbook is still very wet we're afraid and we apologise that we didn't have a spare on us. Very frustrating when care is not taken in replacing a cache. The area around the Dam could do with some TLC, it is quite overgrown but still a nice spot. TFTC NineMilers3747 and interesting read on the cache page.
Picked this one up while heading to Mt Stanley. Interesting background information about the reason for the dam. Mind you the note about the rusty bit on the sculpture representing the gold mining past made me laugh. You could say rust pretty well symbolizes everything that's man-made (or "person-made" for the PC chest-beaters) in Oz - past and present!

Out to see the sights and have a caching day with our caching friends Biggles of OZ and Mrs Biggles. After stopping at Lake Buffalo for lunch we continued on to Beechworth and now heading across to Mount Stanley. There was a couple of Muggles nearby but fortunately as we advanced the cache was far enough away from the sculpture and the Muggles so we had no trouble making a nice easy find. Our thirteenth for the day. TFTC.

Found with mum (who was one of the artists responsible for the nearby sculpture described so beautifully here)
15:40 Pleased to find this cache which has been rusticating for a few months. All in good condition. TFTC
Found this one while out on New Years Day doing some 4w driving in the area.
What a lovely monument.
The dam is a great idea.
Ironically there is a house on the little hill right across from here that geohubby & his brothers & sisters grew up in.
When we pulled up we realised it was their old house!

A few small trades, including leaving a "End Polio Now" pin
Tftc, and best wishes for Christmas.

[:(!] Took the geoGrand Vitara for a spin to see what she can actually do on a caching run for half a day and this was on of them, parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, on arrival at GZ the cache was located and it was quickly in hand.
I like it

On my way from Myrtleford to Yackandandah to attend Camp & Cache event and decide to take the scenic route.
A quick find today, a little rainy and so not many around, just one family fishing by the looks.
Thanks for placing this cache NineMilers3747

We liked the nearby memorial. We did use the hint as our GPS location did not look promising. Hint sent us straight to the find. TFTC.
I had two full days in Bright, once for caching, and one to visit Mt Feathertop. Today was caching day. When I parked near the dam, there was a kid in there swimming. He said the water was nice, and not too cold. It did look good, but I had other things to do. So off to GZ I went for a nice quick find.
My thanks to NineMilers3747 for the cache.

Suscoe's 7th find of 15 for today as we headed to the north east.
A great little spot, some swimmers and fishers here today.
A quick find, log signed and we were on our way.
A sunny day with a gentle breeze.

Another one I'd driven past a few times and known it was here but haven't had time to stop. Until today!
We had a wander round the dam to admire the sculpture and then it was off to make the quick find. A lovely area, thanks for bringing us here. Now its off to the Stanley pub for a refreshing drink. TFTC
Wow! Got to experience a little 4WD ing. Stanley, how lovely. We will come back for more. TFTC.

A nice spot to bring the kids fishing, so will have to remember to throw in the lines next time. Enjoyed finding the well hidden cache and going for a wonder. Thanks nine miler FTC.
Been a while since I have been out to Stanley, but I have seen this sculpture before. It is a really nice idea and well executed.
Didn't drop a line in the dam today (none in the car), but we did find a cache.
Thanks, Robmc.

We were in Stanley for a day of caching. We pulled up and were impressed with the dam and the scupture. What a fitting tribute. We admired the scupture moving in the wind and could not resist taking photos of both the sculpture and the dam. The sculpture is a timing reminder on how precious our land is and how fire can ravage it quickly.
We headed to GZ and it wasn't long before we found the nicely hidden cache. We walked back around the dam taking more photos.

Haven't seen this dam hear before, the sculpture looks similar to a few you can find around Albury Wodonga, wonder if its the same artist.
Was surprised to see a few kids swimming in the dam as it wasn't overly warm today. Thought I was going to have trouble finding it with the dry leaf litter under foot making all sorts of racket, but I guess the kids were splashing louder than I was sneaking around as the paid me no heed.
TFTC, T - Kombi TB, LN. Cheers.

A great location for a wander around
With this dam and it's pumping station, Stanley finally has a supply of fire water and a nice little park to boot!!
Add to this the new community fire shelter at the showgrounds and there should be a lot less singed whiskers in 2014 when the fire season rears it's ugly head again
TFTC.
I popped the "The travelling Kombi" travel bug in the cache.

Wangaratta Area 2013 with Mtrax. The google map page is a bit out of date, the pond is not there at all. After we negotiated the ditches we soon came to this cache in what is now a very nice place. Thanks.

I loved the memorial to the firefighhters. What a lovely tribute to all those men and women who worked so hard under such extreme conditions. TFTC NineMilers3747
#3676 We were touring around the Yack, Stanley and Beechworth area today enjoying our leisurely cruise around the countryside on a beautiful summer day. What a gem of a place this is!! A testiment to the local community and a dam which serves so many purposes - lets no forget it's most important purpose... The sculpture is absolutely lovely - we're no art connoisseur's by any stretch of the imagination but this piece really struck a chord with each of us, perhaps because of what it stands for. After an enjoyable walk, Dad found the well hidden cache still in very good condition. Our thanks to NineMilers3747 for highlighting this wonderful location. Cheers [^]
We were right on GZ and wish we had a torch. We used a stick to have a poke around as we weren't putting our hands in for fear of snakes.
Went for a motorbike ride late this afternoon and thought we grab this one on the way past. As we headed back to the bike a couple of local kids decided to go for a swim in the dam.
Found this at night so we didn't get to see too much but we heard heaps of frogs.
These trees lose a lot of bark as well.
Thanks for the hide.

Wandered round here for a while, my GPS sent me across the road for a while - there does seem to be a problem there. Eventually found it after saying hello to the families fishing. Nice one, but why no pencil?...... TFTC
#1296 Found at 12.05pm just before all the local fishermen came along hoping to catch some of the beautiful rainbow trout in this Dam. They were jumping all over the place, but were not ready to get hooked on a fishing line today! Took: world globe Left: bat and ring. TFTC NineMilers3747 and the interesting history of the Barge Dam with its beautiful sculpture and walking track.
# 1345. 2nd TF on a quick drive out here to retrieve the cache I hid near the monument over a month ago. Was only using the iPhone and it had me going all over the place. Finally tracked down GZ and then it was still a tough search. Beautifully peaceful here just before midday. Lake calm and reflecting the blue sky. TFTC
FTF - Day off and the young fella heading over to swimming at Baranduda this morning, so before we headed off there we made a trip up to Stanley to look for this one.
Nice morning to be out and about, and when we reached Stanley the conditions were perfect.
Arrived at the dam and parked in the drive-through which was about 200-odd metres from GZ. The caretakers here have done a wonderful job of this area, and so while Dad went off looking for the find, Ryan threw a couple of stones into the water. While we were there a few fish surfaced, which amused the little bloke.
Before locating the cache I went over to have a look at the feature, which was impressively made and I like the story on how each element represents the township and the fire event.
Strolled over to look for GZ, and when there had a brief search before finding the good-sized container. SL at 9.45am and took Eureka Flag TB to move on.
Yet another great position for a cache highlighting history and providing some recreation. TFTC NineMilers3747.
