I'm very close to getting my Adventure Lab sorted, this was one of the caches that I decided to add to my smiley list as I headed out to Yack to finish it off. A great day and thanks for the help Something Different.
This was a little bit of a surprise with having taught at Stanley and having no idea this was here. Well it was a happy surprise and another smiley, although I wouldn't have been if the car got bogged.

This was another cache that was out alone that I had yet to get. So when I picked up the car from Lake Kerford I diverted the short distance up through the forests to have a look. Was a surprisingly nice place - even a few people floating about in this hot day in the hills.
Parked just in the hill and diverted down the side tracks and quickly found the nicely sized cache. Signed log and on my way / TFTC Ninemilers3747

#2768 This cache find took far longer than it should of. Looking at the hint was probably the problem, it didn't match where we found the cache. All good in the end and we then continued along the wet slippery track in the new AWD with our hearts in our mouths a bit, but made it back out to the main track ok, phew! TFTC NineMilers3747.

26-Aug-17
Shelley0 and I decided to head somewhere where we could take the geodog Tessie for a few walks. Thru Beechie and towards Stanley was the go, before returning to Kerferd Lake for a campfire and a bbq.
This was a beautiful location for a cache, should've brought the rods. Smile
Shelley spotted this one first, thanks NineMilers3747

10-Jan-15
I set out for two days with the intention of doing some high D/T caching, starting in the Cathedral Ranges and then working my way to Mt Buller where I would spend the second day. I was looking forward to the caches and hiking around Mt Buller but unfortunately mother nature had other ideas with my plan as on the Friday afternoon, as I arrived at Buller, severe storms hit the region and thats when the downpour started and continued for the next 48 hours. So the long hikes were out this time and some slip sliding muddy 4WD caching resulted instead up around Yackandandah and the Barandudah Ranges.
Up bright and early this morning, the weather was still atrocious, so I decided to head north and try my caching luck up there. Cruising about the tracks here I stopped to find this cache. It took a few minutes of searching but eventually I found the cache. Thanks for the hide.

[:(!] Took the geoGrand Vitara for a spin to see what she can actually do on a caching run for half a day and this was on of them, parked the geocar as close as possible to GZ and walked in from there, on arrival at GZ the cache was located and it was quickly in hand.

Nice dam and one we may make a visit back to in the warmer months for a swim.
Thanks Ninemilers for this cache and a possible summer swimming hole.

After do a near by cache and on our way to town to have lunch we drove straight past this one and I said "there's a cache there" so we turned around and started the search. Geodaughter found the well hidden cache. The dam was nice a full after recent rain. TFTC.

would be nice to swim on a hot day

It still amazes me that there are places like this hidden away. How do people find these gems? Sat by the dam and soaked in the peace and quiet, it certainly would be an excellent place to camp for a while. I wonder if there are any fish………anyway there is a cache to be found so to the hunt. After the last one it was very, very nice to find this one without blackberry’s hindering the process. Sat and enjoyed the tranquillity while signing the log, wonderful. sl tnl: blue dinosaur t4tc

What a beautiful spot. We passed a group/family of campers making use of this beautiful weather on the Easter long weekend. Luckily they were not camping near GZ so we had the spot to ourselves. We located the cache and admired the lake. We took some photos and decided to come back another time to enjoy this beautiful spot. The lake was stunning today. Thanks NineMilers3747 in sharing this beautiful spot with us.

#2431

Have been coming to this area for just over 20 years now, doesn't quite look as picturesque now as it used to then, mostly due to the big pines that were once surrounding the dam have now been logged or destroyed by fire.
Still a nice place to come to for a quiet lunch, a swim if its hot enough or maybe try your luck wetting a line for a trout or reddy.

TFTC, TNLN, Cheers.

#3685 We were following a blue ute (and its dust plume Wink) in toward GZ. They pulled off near the swing and we continued on to the cache which was far enough out of sight from them. The water was looking mighty inviting today but we had to be content just looking..... The cache was found well concealed and in very good condition. Our thanks to NineMilers3747 for highlighting a great spot - looks to be very popular with the locals, particularly on a hot summers day. Cheers [^]

#1295 Found at 11.08am. What a delightful spot! There were a car load of fishermen on the opposite bank trying their luck. Found the cache Took: stubby holder Left: Legendary Creature TB, possum & PT. After enjoying morning tea, Mr harrowang managed to wet his fishing line a few times. No bites today tho'. A un-planned but adventurous trip to Stanley today with the kids for the school holidays, and we ventured out to collect a few caches.
This one was the second of the trip, not too far away from the previous find but it's a lovely secluded spot.
Parked at the park-bench which was only a short stroll to GZ. The water looked crystal clear and if it had of been warmer a swim might of been on the cards.
At GZ we had no trouble, with the container partly-exposed which made it a quick find. SL at 2.20pm and we TNLN.
A magic location, peaceful and isolated which made it all the more enjoyable. TFTC NineMilers3747.

OK came back with GPS and made a quick find, just where I looked a few days ago... TFTC

21-Aug-12
Found with PD. Arrived near GZ beside the Dam. It's funny how you just turn the corner and there's a Dam in the middle of the forest. Pulled up about 40m from GZ as there was a bog hole. Walk around it and started heading towards GZ. Read the hint then looked down the bank....hmmmm!!! There is only 20 stumps as the GPs wouldn't settled down...Lol After a bit of a hunt we came up with the hide.....cheers NineMilers3747 for bring us here Smile

Found it.Co & I had made a FTF in Yack and decided to come this way for a couple of finds. It was quite a nice day out with not to much water lying around although there was a boghole within 50 mtrs of GZ so we parked a began the short search.Nice dam.

It was a loverly day - but obviously not hot enough for the summer swimmers - the place was deserted! The surface was undisturbed to the extent of an almost perfect reflection on the water's surface. We drove the road to the turn off, but then walked to the cache as the road had been a bit ripped up.
Took a little while to locate the good sized container.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 759. Heading towards Stanley and I remembered this new cache so we made a slight detour in to the dam. Although I have driven and ridden these tracks I had never been to this picturesque location. The water was like a mirror today and I was impressed with this lovely spot. We parked the car on the road and walked past the very boggy area. Didn't look at the hint - even if we had there were quite a few places to look before the GPS settled and took us to the right spot. Took: Hippo, Left: Nothing as I left swaps in the car. This spot is quite close to Coruze's home so out we went.
Had to be a bit careful coming in from Yack as the some of the tracks were quite slippery. Good fun!!!!
