First ever day geocaching! Went out with a mate and found 2 in queens park. Got us searching for a bit but we ended up finding it. Cool geocache!
A nice walk around the track with the geobaby while down south visiting Invercargill. A clever hide at the final spot! TFTC
Saw that a TB was placed in cache a couple of days ago and another cacher noticed that it had been doing the rounds in the South Island for ages and needed to escape. So since I am heading overseas shortly will take it along to my departure port in another Island. This poor Jeep has lost front axel.
After barking up the wrong tree. We finally found it. In seconds. Educated G1 about Letterboxing. Tftc
Yay! TFTC! I came all the way from Vancouver BC Canada to find this cache Thanks for being part of the adventure!
During our holiday in NZ we, geosnuf and I, also look for some geocaches, like this one.
We enjoy the beautiful nature, the pleasant encounters and the nice caches.
All wp's are well found, and even the final! It is a pleasure to walk around.
Thanks to the co's for bringing us here and for placing and maintaining this cache.

Heading down to Invercargill for 4 days of work, be rude not to grab a few caches along the way!
Went for a wander around the different waypoints, then at the end made a quick find. Nicely hidden
TFTC southlandicebergs, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 3 find(s) of 11 today, making this find #2974

The last in the park for us today. We searched the wrong side until reading the hint (doh!), then it was quick and painless. A good hide, and it’s good to tick off a letterbox. TFTC again southlandicebergs.

Back on the mainland & we are on the downhill stretch of our South Island roadie. On the agenda today was travelling from Invers to Gore, then on to Alexandra for the night. We made a small detour to Edendale, so I could see the fields of flowering Tulips ⚘ A highlight for me An adventure lab in the beautiful Queens Park & a delicious lunch at the Rustic Cafe & Restaurant in Gore were also highlights of our travels today.
A neat fitness track that the public can use. What a cool free resource ️

Cache 670 after finishing work this morning I decided it was time for another stroll around Q-Park, I’ve been here more recently than I have been for a long time, collecting caches (still have a few in here to go) but hey it’s a great place to stretch the legs and it’s a lovely walk around the fitness track got to the described final hidey spot and the cache was a nice quick find in excellent condition just had to wait for the most opportune time to gnab it in between muggles (they do make grabbing caches in this area more interesting that’s for sure...) T4TLB
Visiting Invercargill for a few days as my son has moved here to do an apprenticeship. While he’s at work had lots of time to explore the town and collect some caches. Using a bike to get around and it’s started to drizzle. Still it’s not as cold as I thought it was going to be. Today I’m visiting Queen’s park. What a great access right in the middle of town. Loved the improvised bridge from a fallen down tree that you see as you follow the fitness trail. Cache all fine. Thanks for the smiley.
I arrived in Invercargill today to have a holiday exploring some of Southland and Stewart Island. It was pouring with rain today but I was determined to get this letterbox, tftc!
I went out this evening to have another go at locating this letter box cache. would you believe it i had assumed that the end was at the same point as the start, hence i could not make head nor tails of it. but once my brain worked a little better it was actually a quick find and it looked like a brand new log book but sadly it was not a FTF . Many thanks for this cache and i am happy to give it a fav point for my sheer stupidity on such a straight forward hide !!!

stump it was beside is falling apart and the parks n reserve people are keeping area free od low branches and stuff... so in process of rethinking location of final
Started off in the park with this one then as we figured it out we tried to be smart and do the other caches as we walked around. Well we were lucky and managed them and finish off with a quick find for this . Thanks for the letterbox.
Did the circuit and did other caches on the way round the park - enjoyed our walk a quick find at the end of the walk - log signed - thanks for the cache
Back for a second trip to add my newer stamps as an official letterbox not gc find.
We wandered the gardens finding caches along the way and eventually we found we had completed the walk enough to find this one. Found with Spoonz2 and Wilbywarrior
We covered a lot of ground today on our searches and eventually found ourselves at the final of this one. We selected a stump each, and Wilbywarrior had the correct one. Also found with Debsnz.
Walked the fitness tracks couple times before and done this to spice up the routine. TFTC
Enjoyed a nice stroll through the park with Debsnz and Spoonz2. We spilt up at GZ to search a stump each and soon had the cache in hand. Tftc
Out to night with the girl guide and teaching them geocaching .This one was on our list for tonight This was a nice find to show the guides Found with windsor guided and downsouthinv.Tftc
we are working on our geocaching badge and we discovered this one is a short walk for use

Starting a the other end of the park I was weaving my way all over the place stopping at waypoints for the other multi as well as this letterbox cache. Can not say how far I have walked, but it turned into many hours of wandering around.
I collected the answers to the three questions, and got to explore more of this amazing park.
The cache was found, log book signed. Sadly I did not have my letterbox stamp with me, as travelling light, so did not bring to the South Island.
Another fun find, thanks for the hide southlandicebergs

On a caching trip with Bennett24, travelling around Otago and Southland collecting TMGT caches, oldies, solved puzzles and anything else interesting that we thought we would enjoy. I thought we should grab the Letterbox Hybrid while here. I've done these European style letterbox caches in Scandinavia so knew what to expect but all the same it took way longer than it should have as we started looking for the final way too early. Talk about a needle in a haystack, more like a piece of hay in a big, figurative pile of needles! (Disclaimer - the only needles are of the pine variety).
In the end took a slightly more literal interpretation of something in the description and that did the trick - the obvious spot was finally found. Thanks for the cache.

I started my great and unique round trip over the South Island in Christchurch.
My first major stopover was at Lake Tapeko - here I hiked up to Observation Mountain.
I then planned two days in Mount Cook NP with some unforgettable hikes. My big goal was the Mueller Hut - on a super strenuous hike I reached it.
I continued my journey over the lonely Danseys Pass to Dunedin.
Afterwards I drove along the Southern Scienic Route via Invercargill to Manapouri for some days. On this route I visited many sights and enjoyed the beautiful nature again and again.
I already booked a tour to the Doubtful Sound in advance - another highlight on my tour.
Afterwards I drove on to Queensown and Wanaka. From there I continued over the Haast Pass to the lonely Jackson Bay with storm and heavy rain. Afterwards I drove along the west coast always in pouring rain.
The rain stopped the whole west coast, but I had good rainwear with me. Only high up in Nelson the sun shone again.
Soon I reached the east coast again in Picton and Blenheim and the sun was shining again.
After a few days I travelled back to Christchurch via the beautiful town of Kaikoura.
At the end of my round trip I spent a few more days in Christchurch and its surroundings.
I visited many geological sites and found many caches on my round trip. In Rangiora I visited an event.
I travelled 3418 km and take home a lot of positive experiences.
Thanks to many beautiful caches I was also shown unique locations, historical sites and geological features.
I am overwhelmed by the fantastic and ever changing nature on the South Island of New Zealand - I will definitely come back.
Many thanks to all owners

Walked around the fitness circuit also grabbing a few of the golfing Dodgem waypoints while at it. Followed the instructions and soon had the cache in hand. A late find in the dark. Thanks for the letterbox cache.
On a caching weekend to Otago and Southland with Tuolei to pick up old caches, TMGT's, CANZ, solved puzzles and any others that caught our eye along the way. We had a 4 day long weekend planned that would take us around Dunedin on the first day, Tuatapere via Sutton, Balcutha, Mataura and Winton on the second day, Tokanui via Riverton, Invercargill and Bluff on the third day and then back to Dunedin via the Catlins on the last day. Overall we did 1578km and picked up just under 100 caches and managed to knock off most of the caches we had on our list.
Spent quite a while walking around looking for this one as we initially had the wrong idea about the placement of the trail. Once we carried on Tuolei had more of the right idea than me and made the find way before I would have got there. TFTC.

Together with TEMBO! I had a really interesting geocaching-trip today. We could find some geocaches, met some locals and had a great talk to them.
Concerning this geocache I want to say thanks because we had much fun in searching and finding this geocache! The cache made our trip even more interesting!

We did some exercise and had a big walk. The hint was good because we know the difference between a pine tree stump and a gum tree stump tftc
After doing the fitness trail and completing the multi and finding a couple other caches this one was the last one on the way back to the car. Found it after a short search. Tftc
Not quite where expected but after a long walk around the trail glad I did in the end. Now where is 21 the sit down and have a cup of tea stop?
Pengi left his mark.

Thought I might be thwarted by a lack of ability to distinguish stump types, but after not finding the cache at a likely spot, and then walking back to look at other stumps I had walked past, returned and found the obvious cache on the other side of the original stump. Fun cache. TFTC!!!

Doggy needed to get out of the house there was a break in the weather so off for the fitness walk! Oh.. there's a few stumps but could only spy a couple of eucalypt ones. The 2nd was it so soon had the cache in hand. I don't have a personal stamp but stamped the log and signed and returned tftc
What a nice park! Father and son had a lot of fun doing the exercises and the mum was doing the cache . We needed a little bit at the gz, but we really appreciate the cache and the park. Thanks for the cache and the maintenance!
I really enjoyed the fitness round. I had to look around at the final destination but after approx 5min I had the cache in hand
the lovely parks and reserves gardeners have trimmed lower branches off the trees here and thus cleaned up all the stuff on the ground around the stumps removing the container.
I must have been wandering around for 20-30 minutes in the final area without finding anything more exciting than an banana peel.
There where one likely hiding location. But there where no container to be find there despite removing debris with an stick.

Nice winter's day to walk the trail. Nor so many golfers about today. Just their lost balls!
Cache is nice and dry.
Thanks for making me walk off lunch!

Walked the fitness trail after eating a giant burger in town. Probably should have done a few more of the exercises too! Thanks for a nice cache. Enjoyed the walk
Not sure why 2 experienced cachers have posted a DNF. Either they have not looked at the page and are searching at the trail start as per the cache coordinates, which of course the container is not at that place. For the Letterboxing community a starting place is given (not the gps coordinates) and clues given on how to travel to get to the box. The final spot is not given as a coordinate just a clue. For a geocache Hybrid the final coordinate has to be given which it is shown as a way -point. Yesterday I visited and checked this cache and all was as it should be in plain view for a cacher right by the tree stump with small sticks covering.
Oct 2018 I was looking at the other letterbox in southland's page and discovered that the final coordinated not displayed so checked into this in the hybrid creating requirements and found that GPS use is needed for a part of finding a hybrid to keep it in keeping with a true letterbox. So I have hidden the final coordinates. As it was anyone could just look at the final waypoint and go straight to it without doing the search following the written directions.

A little disappointed not to get this. It does look as though it is not at the hint item which would have made a good hide . May be worth a check.
Down from Northland for a few days for a short visit and just had to make sure of a cache or three each day. Today was a bit of a challenge with cold blustery sou'westerlies and frequent rain, much more like early winter than summer.
Visited the motorcycle museum and did a couple in town. Then, with this one being a different type, I just had to go for this one afterward. Parked in the nearby car parking area and waited for the rain to ease off a bit. Then when it did, I made a dash to the end of the fitness trail and soon found the hint item and the cache, where the log was signed, a TB dropped off and all replaced safe and secure, before heading back to the car to avoid the returning rain. Needed a walk after a large brunch, followed by a large lunch and in preparation for a large dinner... Decided to walk right around Queens Park and grab this one. TFTC!
After spending far too long avoiding a muggle that seemed to be on GZ, I read the hint for the 15th time, and slapped my head and walked over to the cache! D'oh!
I was out walking around Queens Park today so it made sense to also do this one. I enjoyed seeing all the fitness equipment, but walking was enough for me today. Thanks for the fun.
Did my fitness by walking around 28km and getting 28 caches in the process today.

After a few days of very intense work activities, I had one last full day free in Invercargill before I head back home to Nelson tomorrow. I headed off early for a full day out caching to see how many caches I could find. The weather was threatening but apart from a cold wind and occasional drizzle it really wasn't too bad. Very cool to be able to find an example of this rare cache type. I spent a bit of time on the wrong side of the track before I noticed something on the right side of the track - or was it the left... TFTLBC, Biggles.
T-Tech and I are touring South Island for 6 weeks
Today we are exploring Bluff before heading onto Lake Monowai via the coast road. On or way back through Invercargill we called in at Queens Park to grab a few more caches. We didn't have the time to take the walk, so I headed straight to GZ, where I made a quick find. TFTC, southlandicebergs.

Day three of my long, long weekend in Otago and Southland and I’m loving every moment of it. Woke this morning in my Airbnb in Winton to the sound of rain so I was a little downcast thinking I was back to wet shoes and socks for the day. However, my fears were misjudged as the day was crisp and clear. Left Winton with a good impression and more than I arrived (pre-arrival all I knew that the only woman hanged in New Zealand, Minnie Dean, came from here).
Back in Invercargill after a short trip to Bluff and there's time for a couple of caches before I need to get on the road towards Dunedin. A quick find here this morning. TFTC

We found this one after a walk across the park and re-reading the cache page. It is a nice hide. There were lots of boys outside at the school today.
First letterbox hybrid of our trip to New Zealand. Tried out some of the fitness equipment before heading to the hiding place. Not much ink on the stamp
Found with StreetWalker on day 4 of our road trip to the Oamaru Geofest, taking the scenic route, of course. Today we are caching around Invercargill, with a trip down to Bluff in the afternoon when the weather improved.
We got to see quite a bit of Queens Park on our walk this morning, and this was the last cache found in the area. Good to find a letterbox type too. TFTC.

Queens Park is lovely; even on a cold day like today. Although a bit warmer and less wind would be even better . The cache was soon found, but unfortunately I left my wattle stamp in my suitcase back at the hotel. But the log was a little damp, so the stamp might not have worked as well as it could. TFTC southlandicebergs.
Down in Invercargill with the Manawatu U15 Championship boys hockey team for the tournament this week, and plenty of caching. This was on the list of 'must do' caches while here and today was the opportunity to do so. Wandering around the park gives a good sense of just how big an area it covers. Didn't take too long to find the cache in the end and used the nearby equipment as a seat for filling in the log. However a couple of golfers decided to tee off near the final and had to wait for some walkers too before returning the cache to the hiding spot. Thanks for the Letterbox Hybrid.
A beautiful Anzac day, perfect for a brisk walk and for nabbing a couple of caches. Plenty of muggles around including a golfer who was too busy chatting away to himself to notice us.
The family Tognisserne ( can be translated into Train Pixies ) is on vacation from Denmark to New Zealand.
Found while walking in the park and hunting Pokemons.
First Letterbox for me in NZ.

A group of 5 of us were visiting NZ from Australia in search of a five year old FTF cache on the 5 Passes trail. We had given ourselves a few spare days at the end in case bad weather held us up along the way, but Mother Nature chose to be kind and after successfully completing our mission, now had time to kill on our hands. What better way to spend it than travel the country side in search of some more caches. Our first destination was to be Invercargill and after settling into our accommodation on the outskirts of town, we headed downtown for some sustenance and of course some local caches. After a feed of pizza on the front steps of the nearby water tower we headed off for one last cache. We do love a letterbox cache so this was a great choice. Everything was found safe and well here and loved the lovely big expanse of green area. TFTC

Having just completed a five day tramp over "Five Passes" in Fiordland National Park to claim first to find on a long unloved remote alpine cache, our reserve "bad weather days" are now free for us to go caching. So, we hired a car for a road trip looping around southern parts of the South Island.
Love the long twilights in NZ - so much light to grab caches. We stopped to tackle this one on our way back to our accommodation. We have certainly had a lot of exercise this trip. A nice park. First letterbox this trip to NZ.
Thanks for placing this cache, southlandicebergs

Admittedly we didn't do the course but found the cache reading the latest posts and the hint. Nice dry cache found in good hide and SL. Used a stamp we found previously in the evening as swag. tftc
Thanks for the letterbox. Did the walk earlier as wondered round the park with kids.
Just enough time for a brisk walk in the park before heading a girl guide meeting not far away.
Quite a few walkers, runners and golfers so took a while typing o be able to make the find, then put it back after signing and stamping the logbook. I'm not officially a letterboxer, but do keep a small note book and have a stamp for when I come across these cache types.
Thanks for the smile- especially as it's a dot day.

Day # 3 in New Zealand on a geocaching holiday-trip covering Thailand, Australia and finally my beloved NZ .
I had so much looked forward to return to this beautiful country, and now I'm here again - awesome!
The weather was really challenging today [B)]. Had to cancel the planned trip to Stewart Island and instead explored Invercargill in the wind and the rain . Good thing about 'plan B': This opened up the chance to cover more cache-types of Southland [^] ...
At the end of the chilly and extremely windy, rainy day I not only had survived , but happily collected 18 Caches of 5 different cache-types - cool!
What a lucky day!
To find the only letterbox in Southland surely it is something very special! [^]
Hey - Invercargill, you have awesome caches [^] [:X]!
So thanks to all the Owners involved [:X] [:X] for hiding and maintaining. [^]
Cheers from Germany

Time for a walk about around this neat park collecting all the info to snag and tag this one. And snag and tag we did. Cheers

TaybeeDragon and I are off for a three day walk on Stewart Island. But we have a camper, so once you add in getting there and back, it's a three week trip. Day 9: Catlins to Bluff.
It's nice to see a town (back then) dedicate so much land to a park. Awesome. Enjoyed this walk around some of the fitness stations.
