This cache brought us a lot of joy. We were on our way to a different cache, that we were finding to fill a Jasmer square. On route though, we passed near 'Postie' on the Crete Track. We could see a climb and a bush bash, the kids couldn't resist!. We clambered up and made our way through the bush to find this very apt cache.Geocaching in the bush on a nice day. It doesn't get better than that. My favourite kind of geocaching.TFTC ahomburg.
This was my last DM series in the area today, plus a few other CO caches collected along the trek. This was the one I was most looking forward to and it certainly did not disappoint. After a bit of wandering around GZ the cache was located. Very cool! Took a TB and a few photos. A letterbox that lives up to its name, love it. A bit of bush bashing required, next time I'll wear pants. To be fair, the scratches sustained where a cumulative effect of the day. All worth it.
Cache 2/11 with fisherfamfive and AdamW on our first caching trip of the new year. Now that the three of us were all present, we ventured back along the path to tackle this one. A bit of bush bashing through the wet led us close to the cache, where it was spotted very quickly and with a laugh as it certainly wasn't a container anyone would expect to find hiding in this area! With an idea for the code in mind already, it was quickly opened and we signed the log, TFTC ahomburg
Out today with CammJT and AdamWickenton for our first caching trip of the new year on the bikes in the northern part of the Dandenong Ranges National Park. After previously riding past this cache to tackle the multi, we made our way back to this one for our next find. The bush bashing required to get to this one was made that much harder by the rain that had fallen in the last hour or so, but after scrambling our way to GZ, the cache was spotted almost instantly. Dropped a TB.Tftc ahomburg
We have got way behind in our logging and are trying to catch up and get our caching in order.Life has been pretty hectic this year, and a lot of it has gotten in the way of efficient logging of finds. We want to thank all the Cache owners for providing an array of caches for us around our countryside and in our cities. We apologise for the generic logs. We must do this to get through the backlog.Unless otherwise specified, all the caches we found were in good order.Thank you, ahomburg, for this Leterbox cache.
In the area for work and after finishing I had an hour to collect a few geocaches. A large Letterbox? Cool. That is the target. Really didn't expect the terrain, but should have. Everything seemed to be up hill, and when I say hill, I mean HILL!!!
Eventually got to the GZ and strolled around for 15 minutes unable to find it. Clearly not it a good geocaching mood, as it was large, was there but I'm clearly just blind. At least, after I saw the obvious geocache, I was able to open the lock easily.
Thanks for the cache A Homburg

TFTC came in From the high road which was all fine today. Took me way to long to work out the combination got there in the end and stamped! Now back up or should I go down
Taking the low Rd trail up to GZ consumed too much energy but the ️ box cache was found. Left Ed the engineer travel bug.
We slipped tripped and skidded our way to this cache but made the find quickly...now here comes the challenge how to unlock it. On our way to this cache we saw a few wallabys munching on their dinner TFTC!!
A nice big letterbox, in perfect knick, in beautiful surroundings up a steep hill. Whats not to love? Thanks!
Work arranged itself rather nicely this week giving me a period of six days off. I spent a bit of time working out which direction i wanted to head for caching fun and decided to have another go at Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. I then took quite a while coming up with a list of caches to target, there are just so many possibilities! I packed, had accommodation sorted, and even had a muggle caching buddy lined up to do the driving. Perfect! Too perfect... . Plans changed at the last minute and i came down to the city solo and without the accommodation option. I wasnt sure if i would keep the rest of the plan or head for the hills instead.
Well i have been here two days so far and im still here. Caching the peninsula has been fun interspersed with visits to various beaches. i have decided to persist with the plan and stay down this way for as long as i can.

Thanks for that cache ahomburg, this thing my first letter box and seeing underwear of the procedure the signed the book regards from victourer
With a couple of hours before my next job, I headed into the hills on the MTB to find some caches.
This was the first find after a little to and fro.
The hinges on the good sized appropriate container are rusted, but the lid can still be opened enough to remove the log.

Not an easy one to find the way into. But I got there! Had a moment of panic when I saw it was locked. Not expecting a puzzle for this one but hint made it all good. Thanks for the cache and a great walk this afternoon.
Love, love, love this spot. It is so beautiful and peaceful. Fantastic Cache, thank you
I took the high road to get to this one and that seemed to work ok. I got passed by a couple of kids on motorbikes... not quite sure they were in the right place for that.
A lovely spot tucked away above GZ. Sunset in full swing had the grasses lit up.
Passed by many joggers of both two legged and four legged kind.
A popular spot.

Letterbox caches are not big in my list of finds. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to log one.
Took a while to figure fire out the code until we checked the hint. Doh!
Thank you for the cache!
Thank you for the cache!
Nice walk through this area after finishing work in Mitcham. Cache was an easy find after the slight bushbash to get here.. thanks for the cache all looks to be in good order.!
This one was quite a tricky one for a T2. Tried one approach and then took another. Hopefully I chose the easier way. Just myself and the wallabies at this cache. Left a stamp and back out I go. Tftc
A good view up here of the city, my sister and I stopped to get this cache. Thanks for the hint too, it really helped us get the cache open!
We dropped a trackable my sister has held on to for far too long, and picked another one up.

Found it. Nice view from here and bit of raining while walking. Thanks ahomburg for placing this Letterbox cache
On a mission before I leave Melbourne to find a clutch of caches in this little pocket of the forest. Have not been here for donkeys years. Not sure I covered ground in the most efficient way but had grabbed the MT bike and managed most of the hilly country. Nice to be back after a few decades. All caches found quickly enough. Left 2 TB’s. TFTC and series. I’ll be back!
Found today while ducking out for a short time while granddaughter was having a sleep.
Picked up the TB. tftc.

Last one for the day, and as we could park fairly close to GZ, I was all for it. I studied the logs while having a bite to eat and knew there would be an easier option than having to scale another rather large embankment. Did the hubby listen to me when we stopped at the highest point? No, of course we would be taking the hard way. Up he went like a monkey, then practically ripped my shoulder out by hauling me up. Then for the first time today, our GPS wasn’t helpful. The largest cache today, took us the longest time. Finally found it and noticed the lock is broken, just sort of hanging in place. As this is only our second letterbox, took just about the same time to work out how to change the date on our new stamp as it did to find the cache:)
Thank you ahomburg, for not only showing us part of a beautiful reserve, but for me realising just how unfit I am. We’ll be back.

Went on my first serious geocaching session with my friends Jake, Bryce, Alex, Mason, Harry and myself (Jack) this was a lot of us our first geo cache ever. It was in a great hiding spot, thank you.
Hurrah!! Dad and young’un are getting some fresh air into their lungs today. Chipping away through the Dandenong so arrived in this locale today.
We opened the cache without incident and lo&behold found an object that belongs in our hide - Baby John, it’s back to Ringwood for you!
Thanks for the adventure.

I wasn't sure if I could get to this from Crete Track, but I'm glad I accessed it from the other side. Loved the cool container, and the laminated photo of Baby John - too bad it wasn't autographed! Slowly meandering my way through these caches, thanks ahomburg!
After meandering the hills my injured ankle was screaming in pain. Looking at the embankment in front of me I decided to stay on the track. I yelled directions out to Cracka1 from the track and he quickly made the find and signed the log.
Out early this morning to grab more of the meander series, the rain held out long enough for me to get what I wanted without getting too wet. As I was meandering I wondered 2 things: 1. If someone blindfolded ahomburg and dropped him into a random spot in the Dandenongs, would he be able to tell you whereabouts he was? I reckon he could. 2. If a bushfire swept through the Dandenongs (god forbid) as has happened before, how long would it take ahomburg to replace all of his caches? I reckon 3 solid days. Thanks again for this series ahomburg, a great excuse to get out of the house into nature TFTC!
Great to finally find a letterbox cache. Easy find made difficult by a toddler insisting he could a walk and b wanting to ride his bike. Thanks for the cache
Targeting large size and letterbox cache on this trip to Melbourne to satisfy challenge caches in Canberra. I need 50 large and 25 letterbox This one will make 42 large finds. And my 24 letterbox a rare double in my recent history thanks for the placement cheers
Found quickly after a bit of bush bashing. Lock seems to be broken and doesn't lock properly. Everything else in good condition however. TFTC
Out and about today looking to add to the DM tally and at this point, regretting not bringing a raincoat.
A bit of a trek into the bush revealed the safe location. Fiddling with the lock and working out the combo revealed two rather large spiders taking shelter. After having a good chat with them they intended no harm.
Logged quickly stamped and back up the hill to the path.

TFTC. First one of this series we’ve attempted on our evening of caching in the DR conservation park. So peaceful.
Damn... up there aye. Found it just admin the hail started. Lock is in the way out it seems. Bit hard to open and close.. gotta hold your tongue right.
Awesome letterbox! Quite the scramble up with the geokids (6,5 and 2), but a gorgeous day for it! Thanks Ahomburg for the cache
This was on the list of targeted caches today as I’m always up for a letterbox when they’re in the area. I knew there was a reason why I got started reasonably early and powered through the suburban caches
Only about 100m from the track and a T2. No problem I thought. Well, after finding a suitable parking spot along Bayview Crescent (which was a bit of a task in and of itself) I went up Crete track and...marvelled at the embankment height. Should I? Shouldn’t I?
Thought I’d keep it low key and de-bro’d and walk up the track a further ways to see what was what. The good news is the embankment drops away enabling access from the track. The bad news? A bit of off track meandering over some rocky terrain alternating with plenty of grassy plants and fallen bits of trees thus requiring some testing of footing in certain places.
A while later GZ was arrived at, the good sized cache spied and log then signed. Took the TB and then started back. The walk back was a touch quicker but since I didn’t fancy a jump down the embankment or even a bum slide for that matter it was all the way back to a gentler incline.
Bit of an effort on this one but it made the find all the sweeter....

#1081 - 7.20pm
I was bored.
A recent dose of the flu had kept me limited to T1 and T1.5 caches of late.
I needed something more.
And I needed some exercise.
So I found a cache that ticked all the boxes... but it wasn't this one, lol. I was on my way to 'My Old Roof', when I noticed that I was passing right by here. And it sounded a good size for a TB I wanted to drop. AND I just happened to have my stamp on me.
How could I not stop by?!
The night time climb up the embankment was fun... though I was sure there would be an 'easy way' somewhere, lol. (This was confirmed 3 hours later.)
I headed up to GZ relishing a chance for a little off-track walk. Wow! I found something a bit unusual...
I admit to needing the hint for the combination. For the first time, I managed to use my stamp without getting ink all over myself, lol. Dropped a Pikachu TB, then replaced the cache and added some camo to the hide. Took some photos of the night views that roll out all the way to the city. I then made some field notes while being supervised by a restless echidna.
Thanks for this quirky cache, ahomburg. It's good to be out and about again.

I decided to take a meander through Ferntree Gully today to climb the 1000 steps and get some fresh air. A total of 21 finds with no DNFs. This was #12 for the day. Favorite point for this one. I've seen one similar cache to this but in a different country where the items don't look quite the same. Lock may be broken as it opened with any combination. I approached from the top.
So, what should a letter box cache look like? no surprises with this one!! Love the container! TFTC
A nice early walk around the Dandenong Ranges National park with Clint. The weather wasn't too bad considering when we arrived there was heaps of rain and lightning which stopped before we set out.
(thankfully). The first one of a number of DM caches, continuing to slowly get through them. At the GZ we couldn't see the cache...and then...ah, how could we miss it. Didn't take long to Clint to open the cache, sign and return.
Found by Team Justice #1602.

Approaching GZ the cache seemed a little obvious - retrieved and tackled the lock. Open this after a few minutes and signed log. Unfortunately I did not have a stamp but left a rendition of our avatar picture. Replaced everything as found and made my way back to the track. The morning was getting a little hot so time to head back to the car and depart for somewhere cooler! TFTC
That was fun. It was huge!!!! Thanks for my first letterbox.
Now do I go up or down???
Now do I go up or down???
Found while walking up and down tracks in the Dandenongs, looking for DM caches and other ones nearby. Great sunny day for a walk in these lovely hills.
Found by edmil and Maddie at 1:40 pm. This was our last cache for the day. No swap was made but we left one one of out 'caching fixation no fixed destination' pathtags. This was our second letterbox find we have no stamp so we signed the logbook which by golly was as snug as a bug in rug and bone dry - one of only a couple of dry ones today.
While venturing to the cache we across an old blue tongue lizard quietly sunning himself; still a bit sleepy as it didn't really want to rouse itself while we were there a gentle touch confirmed it was alive but it was bothered by us.
I wasn't sure what to expect for a postie.
But I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Fairly evident once you get in the right area.
Thanks ahomburg.
Chiefton!!!

Either that or I was just pushing the envelope!
Thanks to Chiefton for the patience.

It's definitely off the track, but not too hard. We came down from the top track (after aproaching from the bottom track a few days before, but we aborted).
A beautiful day for a meander around the Dandenong Ranges. Having seen the total chaos at the 1000 steps it was lovely to walk around this area away from the maddening crowds. It's amazing to think if ypu walk just a couple of km away from there you effectively have the area to yourself.
This wasn't the easiest cache to find despite its size. The GPS was spinning and a lot of things matched the hint. I did manage to find it in the end had a giggle at the thought of ahomburg carrying this around the ranges to hide. Great effort TFTC!

After dropping off my daughter at gymnastics I made the most of a little time up my sleeve and shot off and grabbed a couple of caches in the area. I have been back on the DM series over the past few weeks and decided to grab one more tonight and on arriving at the gz after a little scrambling about I soon realised that I left my stamp in the car...Noooo! Never mind I made a quick find and soon had the log book in hand, TFTC ahomburg.
I have been meaning to do this one for some time, and a quiet Easter Saturday when we need a cache to keep our streak running, seemed the perfect time. A short stroll uphill and a bit of cross country soon had me at gz. The cache itself was hard to miss, as it was sitting out in the open, so after putting my stamp in the logbook and stamping all 4 of the cache stamps in my book, I tucked the cache away a bit better before heading back down to the car. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
I made a slight detour when I saw a letterbox on the map, as they're often quite amusing; there are an awful lot of other caches in the vicinity but they can wait for a future visit. Getting to this one from the entrance was a wee bit of a challenge for a not-very-tall person with wrist problems, but it was sorted in the end. Spied a promising structure from quite a distance away and did what was needed to gain access. Nice. Thanks ahomburg!
found with geobrother while trying to get closer to 2000 so i can hit my target at an event TFTC.
Omg. That was hilly and dirty and scratchy...But a great letterbox.
Thanks once again Mr H
Thanks once again Mr H
Geo girl was on L plate driving duties today, so we took the windy road into here, than walked up the hill, and walked up another hill, until we found the postman, we soon had the door open and logged signed.
thanks Ahomburg for another cache.

After a 02:45 start this morning, I had a planned route to pick up 9 cache types before arriving at the Melbourne MEGA.
After a quick panic moment when parking the car, (where is my stamp book!), I had a nice little jog and got to GZ.
A great letterbox with something a little different! Tftc

Out hiking around the hills today to escape from the horse race that is going on. A lovely hike up and down the mountain a few times to collect a good series of caches. Other than the 2 DNF's. All were where they should be. Sometimes a bit out on the coords due to the hills but otherwise great. Thanks for the hides.
I was on trip in mountains. It was nice weather and nature is there amazing. There were a lot of colourful birds and lot of any wildlife. I enjoyed it very much. I spent some hours by walking there and hunting some caches. It was very nice day. Great letterbox! Thank you very much for very nice cache in beautiful nature.
A quick find after a sharpish scramble, thank you ahomburg for the cache in scenic country.
The weather looked promising today, so myself and Mudbrick headed out to Dandy ranges, rain, hail or shine. Sun was out most of the day and it was warm and humid amongst the mountain ashes and gigantic ferns. A great day all up and love this area!
Thanks ahomburg for a generous swagger of caches and places to visit - can't wait to return try knock out this whole series! All caches found in good condition and returned as found.
Great big letterbox! A fave from me

Out on an [red]awesome [black]Saturday afternoon with [blue]OzHockeyChick[black] collecting some of our hitlisted DM series caches and thought we would have a bit of a bike about the hills.....
This one was a little tricky via the maps and paths but we did select the right path after the first fail and found the cache soon after :0)

88andy88 and I decided to make the most of a beautiful Saturday, so we loaded the bikes and came to this section of the Dandenongs to tackle some more DMs.
Went past the first likely track, headed down the next, to realise we needed to be on the first. Back-tracked and soon had this great cache in our sights. 88 soon had it open and log signed and back into hiding... Next!!

Wanted something cool for my 50th find and a bit of a workout as i was skipping gym for caching. This fits! Now having a rest at gz after an epic battle with a combo lock. Turns out there are two sides to every story. Tftc, and thank goodness for the hints lol up the hill i go...
Find #6. Such a beautiful day for a hike in the Dandenongs and cleaning up another portion of the map with smileys. My geosenses were on high due to jumpy GPSr signals and because I was without my geo-accomplice, Tripze.
My first letterbox! Fun scramble up from Crete Tk and lovely views from GZ. Don't yet have a stamp so signed in the normal way. TNLN

Found with Coruze.
After the show and shine event at a large water reservoir nearby, we were slowly making our way back home via some special caches that we had earmarked to grab, and this being a letterbox, was definitely on the list.
After parking the mighty Triton down on the road, Dad and young Rinny set off into the forest while the Queen and the GeoPrincess set up base camp in the truck ready to keep a look out for muggles......and zombies......you can never be too careful.
Anyway....
After Dad had a hard time trying to keep up Rinny as she galloped up the hill, we made it to the top side of where the pointing box was telling us where GZ was, and as Rinny was puffed from her sprinting up the hill at breakneck speed, she waited on the track to also keep an eye out for any geographically challenged zombies while Dad went down to GZ to bring the container back up for opening and signing duties. With all that business done, we raced each other back down to the truck, with Rinny again running rings around Dad.
Thanks Adriaan for the really cool letterbox in a nice part of the forest.
A favourite from us for the locale and the lack of zombies.
Cheers

Sorry for the late log, I've been getting in trouble for not logging. Mainly cause I cache for where they take me and who I'm with - not for the numbers. BUT in saying that I'm trying to fill a few gaps with the ones I definitely know I have done.
Was in Melbourne for an event and afterwards this cache was found in the company of skullracing.
I love letterbox caches so I was pleased to grab this one.
The whole way from where we left the car to where the cache was I whinged and complained. It was hot, sun was right in my eyes, the walk wasn't easy (being slightly uphill the whole way), scared i'd have an encounter with a wriggly and poor Lex had to put up with me going at a snails pace huffing and puffing.
Mind you I like his log better than mine it sounds way more fun!!
The important thing abut this cache is that our autographs are in the book and another letterbox cache gained. If I remember rightly I picked up a pathtag and dropped a couple here aswell.
Thanks for the fun and smilie Adriaan [^]

It was hot, sun was right in my eyes, the walk wasn't easy (being slightly uphill the whole way), scared i'd have an encounter with a wriggly and poor Lex had to put up with me going at a snails pace huffing and puffing.
Mind you I like his log better than mine it sounds way more fun!!
The important thing abut this cache is that our autographs are in the book and another letterbox cache gained. If I remember rightly I picked up a pathtag and dropped a couple here aswell.
Thanks for the fun and smilie Adriaan [^]
Found with Crowfam44. Before I found this cache I didn't know what a letterbox cache was. TFTC [B)]
Found this morning. Couldn't get the older geokids interested in coming out, so with geotoddler stopped in at TheLeeFamily99's house to borrow a geoson as I knew they also hadn't found this cache. Didn't have a stamp, but enjoyed finding this novel cache and logging it as a traditional. A bit of a scramble up from Crete Track. TFTC>
Appreciated the good coordinates on this one as they led me straight to the cache.
Loved the container, very appropriate.
Topped up with some small swaps but I didn't have any stamps.

Yay! Made it to the letterbox for lunch! Admittedly I had been hanging out for the lunch break for about 2 solid hours by this stage so I happily sat and enjoyed the views for a while realising I should make excellent time back all things considered. It's always nice to find something just that bit different so this was very enjoyable and even included my favorite number! Double yay! So sated and recovered it was off for some more.
Being in the area we always like letter box caches and also large caches so when we saw a cache with both it was a must do. We parked near a fire trail entry and the picked the correct tracks from there. Once near GZ we saw a likely hiding spot and headed over to make the find. We made short work of the next bit and then completed the inking duties before re hiding. TFTC.
I was lucky enough to be out with the girls on this adventure in a beautiful area TFTC ahomburg a truly worthy place for a cache
Yippee... another LETTERBOX
They seem to be few and far between these days..
Tagging along with Teamthommo, GeoGranni and Miss 3, this was TeamThommos cache of choice and what a good choice it was.. The view was breathtaking and the Roo's... well... maybe they are related to Rabbits?
Thanks Ahomburg for placing this cache P)

We have had our eye on this one for awhile being a letterbox and all, today we were off on an adventure in the Autumn sun, some apointments brought us to the area and a daily was high on my priority list. I had Geogranni and Ms-enchantress with me today ( package deal this week) I convinced Granni this would be a quick grab if she stood at the bottom with Geodaughter (3) and we bush bashed up, she was cool with that as long as we signed the log for her. In hind sight Geodaughter would have made it up and it would have been fine but thats okay - the view through the trees was pretty good and I appreciate the effort the time and effort the CO has gone to place this cache. Found a very pleasant walk with my wife on a fresh and mild afternoon. Approached from the upper track and found quickly. A beastly cache, thanks!
Today, the geomum wanted to go see some sculptures at the William Ricketts Sanctuary so I wanted to do some nearby caches. This one was of particular interest to me, as it was a letterbox. After a tough climb in the car up the hill and some tricky parking, we made it to Crete Tk. I went off in the bush, leaving mum behind and soon came across the letterbox in the woods. Definitely a favourite point from me. TFTC!
I still had one more cache to collect on this side of the mountain. This time I brought along my trusty new stamp. I love this post box. It’s so huge. It’s a pity I didn’t bring my TB here. Great hiding spot. It deserves a Fav. TFTC.
