Spent quite a while looking for this in some quite obvious places but with a nil result.
Looked for quite awhile but could not locate. Even had a Scott looking for it but if remained hidden.
I walked the Heaphy Track in 2005, three years before I became a geocacher. It looks like none of the current caches were in place then; I don't know if there were older ones that have since been archived.
This was as far as I walked today; enjoyable even though it was raining. I quickly found the nicely hidden cache and went back to the car via the Nikau Palms Walk.

I boosted ahead of the others and met them here, having made the find quickly. Great view up the beach and all down hill from here. TFTC!
Found with Madcow2 and Mumandme. Five amazing days on the Heaphy track. Finally near the end. Didn't take long to find this one. Amazing view from here. TFTC
Quick find with madcow2 and victoriousone. Lovely spot for a break before finishing the Heaphy track. tftc
Found quickly once I looked in the right tree. TFTC a lovely spot with an awesome view
Day 12 of three weeks winter motorhoming in the upper half of the South Island. Drove from overnight stop at Mokihinui Beach to Karamea and the start of the Heaphy Track today, before returning to last night’s spot again. Picked up a few caches along the way.
Walked from the start of the track to the top of the hill and down to Scotts Beach, collecting the two available caches en route. Took a brief moment to locate this one. Great view on a sunny day! #4148. TFTC.

The third cache on the final day of our Heaphy Track adventure. By this stage of the day it was raining quite hard. Nevertheless we had to get 'em all! (Or near enough.) After figuring out it was not the table itself, we followed advice in earlier logs and looked up, spotting the container. TFTC!
Nice NZ bush walk with weka and the rata flowering today.Think lateral with the hint.
Thanks hazedarus for placing this cache
I was pleased to take my pack off for a few minutes to look for this one.
While here we met a tramper going from Heaphy to Kohaihai as a day trip as he was going to turn around and walk the Heaphy again West to East. That's keen.
Great view to North even though the weather was a bit wild. The cache was in good condition. TNLNSL TFTC

And here we are. RG1972 was keen to check out a bit of the Heaphy, so we canceled our trip to the Fenian for this much easier taster into the track. Took heaps of photos, enjoyed the birdsong and bird spotting, and better still a cache at the lookout. We had it to ourselves, so when that is the case you find the cache first, do the photos later. Been burned like that before. Took a minute to find, all good. TFTC Hazedarus.
It took a few minutes to hunt it down we were on the wrong tree. A widened search area and there it was - fairly obvious. Great views up the beach from here but the sand flies - jeepers, they were hungry! Cheers
I have been wanting to visit this area for some time and was not disappointed.
Beautiful view of Scott's Beach after walking through some equally native bush.

I came to this one with DieMannschaft on our Great Walk Adventure.
In the end, we were able to find them all. What an amazing walk!!
Excellent view and snack here!

Together with 8ManAfter, I walked the Heaphy Track. We checked on all caches on the track and found them all. On our way out from the Heaphy Track, this was the 3rd cache of the day. TFTC
Taking a stroll for a couple of hours up the Heaphy for a couple of hours before turning back. Quick stop here and Mrs ToT was all over this one. TFTC!!!
Our final day and the last 16 km walk out of the park to Kohaihai. A sharp start out from the hut as we have a connection to make but good progress being made despite the rain which has now drenched us.
Unbeknownst to me at the time I took an almost identical photo to the one on the cache page. I don't suppose I am the only other one to have done that but it is nice to see what the beach below looks like on a sunny day!.
Thanks hazedarus

We finally made it. Staying a few days at Kohaihai and visiting all those places so close to our heart. It's no coincidence that a lot of those places have a cache as a means of sharing the best that the Northern West Coast has to offer. We replaced or added spare logs where needed. Repaired containers and replaced one that bravely fought off the local wild life but was found badly damaged. We had fun finding some containers because of cache creep. With the Weka destructively inquisitive some more heavy cover has been added on occasion to safeguard the cache. It's all good again so happy caching to all. Please return as found
Exactly as hint says, made for a quick find with amazing views.
Can't wait to get down to the beach!
Can't wait to get down to the beach!
This took me longer than it should have. I overthought the hint and overshot the cache
After too long rustling about and following what looked like geo trails, I read back through the logs, looked up and spotted it. Clearly visible from beside the table.
Picked up the TB and will move it up the track
On a day ride up the track and back, it was a welcome opportunity to take a break at the top of the hill.

What a nice view! A group of day hikers was sitting at the table when I arrived, but I'd barely done more than set my pack down and had a couple of swigs of water before they headed off. They assured me that it wasn't me, and seeing as it's only day 1 and I wasn't too smelly yet I'm inclined to believe them
I had my opportunity and after a bit of poking around I found the cache. Added a TB which will hopefully find its way onwards in a hiker's pack. TFTC!

On a beautiful day we decided to hike a small part of the Heaphy Track. After arriving at the parking lot, a curios Weka was very interested in our lunch and was quick to pick at every crumb falling from our sandwiches.
The track is very nice and it was easy going. Nevertheless, the high moisture meant that we were pretty soaked when we arrived at ground zero. After catching a breath and drinking something, finding the cache turned out to be not much of a problem. TFTC!

Amazing that this container is still there since it's like not hidden at all. We enjoyed the view and the sandflies

A longer climb up from the beach than we expected, although it is a nice gradient. We detoured to see the view of where we had come from, and found our transport bunny there also enjoying the view. Then it was just a matter of finding.. Mr D pointed out the delightful hide spot.
Very nice view. The cache has a nice lookout for itself
Thank you for hidding

Today we made a very nice walk along a part of the Heaphy Track and found three caches along the way [^]

Cache encouraged us to go to lookoutbefore we headed back. Thanks so much as the view was awesome.
Decided we would walk to Scotts beach today and grab the cache at the lookout as the other caches we did at the start of the Heaphy track have now been archived !! a slightly overcast day made walking pleasant and we enjoyed the photo ops of all the fauna around us - we were soon at the look out and the cache was found and signed - then on to the beach - a very nice afternoons walk - thanks for bringing us here and the cache
Did a cache at the start of this track some time ago but they have all been archived so this time this was the target a lot further in than our last one but on a nice overcast day it wasn't too hot . Grabbed the cache and with time on our side it was now for a wander down to the beach for a bite to eat TFTC )
This is as far I went before the weather shitted him self an I decided to go back. Tftc
I was out doing the Heaphy Track over 4 days. On the first day I met a Czech girl who also happened to be a Geocacher (Jezinka14)! She wasn't planning to do the geocaches on the trail, but after meeting each other we buddied up for the rest of the hike and looked for all the caches together.
On the final day of the hike we walked from Heaphy Hut to Kohaihai and looked for this cache along the way. After a short diversion to the lookout, this cache was quickly found at GZ. Great views here. TFTC!

Staying at the kohaihai for a couple of days. Decided to see if any caches around and the lookout not that far away. Beautiful walk. TFTC
I got up here with the family on a day walk. Treats were being eaten and I was scouting around for the cache. Not having much luck. Cache was found by non-caching wife much to her satisfaction! Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. BJ25. Find # 1524
Our last day on the Heaphy trail and we were on a mission to be out by the road for our shuttle collection after lunch. Made the short detour to admire the fabulous views from here. Stopped for a quick snack before heading on down the trail. FP from us.
Camped at DOC camp so decided to walk up here this morning so beautiful. Took a few searches, finally got the right right side. Picked up Lisa tb. Tftc
We are up here while based in Westport, to dip into the Heaphy track.
We arrived at GZ to find three hikers who were just finishing the trail.
We found the cache and asked if they knew about geocaching. They did and were very disinterested as they were on their own jorney, so we signed and put it back.
Sorry Lisa, we didn't take you as we don't 'do' travel bugs any more. We always seem to strike some problem logging/moving them, so we now leave them.

ReCached and I felt like hiking up to Midway Point and this was our first real stop on the way there. But we were not alone: a curious weka watched our search carefully. After we got to the container, we took a couple of pictures and then went on. TFTC hazedarus!

A great spot for a lookout and a very clear day, good to get the bearings. All good at the cache
The first find for TregearP and I as we started the Heaphy Track. A reasonably quick find with all in good order. A beautiful spot as we gazed North in the prospect of what was to come ...
All in good order, and thanks for the cache.

What a beautiful viewpoint. Quick find and the last one i managed to get on the most amazing 4 day walk. tftc
This was located by my newbie 'cacher and fellow tramper on the way off the Heaphy. TFTC
We decided to take the short detour to find this cache. It was a very wet and misty, foggy morning; so the views weren't clear! But we did enjoy the view and the little area for a picnic. Had we had more time.....after a bit of searching, we found the cache. Unfortunately there wasn't a writing stick to be found! I must have lost mine, back in the Heaphy hut. So we took pictures of the actual cache, the cache with me, the location of the cache!!! I won't post them here, but will email them to the owner, if required!!!
Day eight of our Abel Tasman & Heaphy through hike. Thanks for bringing us here. Magnificant view. TFTC
We did the first part of the heaphy track today up to scotts beach. Ob the way we grabbed this one, too, and enjoyed the view from here. Thanks for the cache and greetings from Germany ,

As we did not have the equipment for a multiple day trip we just headed for the first part of Heaphy's Track from southto Scott's beach. Going there we passed this lookout and had an amazing view caused by some fog hanging above the bay. Thanks for the cahce and greetings from Germany,

Today was this one a 3-4 star terrain. After the two weather bombs during the last week the track was unstable and very wet and slippery. On the way to the cache there were two bad slips. There were tracks through, luckily, but it was so muddy.
We loved the place where the cache is hidden, especially the Weka there

Thought I'd go for a quick walk up here to grab the cache before breakfast, when I got here decided it was only a couple of extra kms to The Old One cache so carried on, probably not a wise decision, I was starving by the time I got back to the car. Unfortunately it was too early in the morning to have any sunshine on Scotts Beach but still a beautiful view. Thanks hazedarus

Cycling the Heaphy with a bunch of friends, although i am the only geocacher of the group. Managed to do most of the climb without getting off the bike, apart from a rocky section for which I found myself in the wrong gear. Nice place to stop off, and a compulsory check on the view - nothing. Actually, just white on white. Lots of glare, with the sun almost directly in front. Found the cache in the obvious spot after I had already checked and rejected it. Thanks for the picnic table, making hte signing duties a little more comfortable. Rescued a TB to move on.

Found on the last day of 5 tramping the heaphy but no pen!!!!! Mine was halfway down the pack and on day five I wasn't keen to retrieve it. I have scratched in the log book and also have attached a photo- hopefully not a spoiler . Thanks for the cache placement in a beautiful spot
A nice view from here, even if only one direction. The West Coast is stunning. Last cache on the Heaphy Track for me.
I was fortunate enough to be able to squeeze an 11 day holiday out of two leave days!! I headed out west to find some caches, see some sights, and relax before the madness of the semester hits. The weather was unbelievably good, only a bit of a storm over Arthur's Pass on the first day, otherwise hot and sunny. I found a great variety of caches, drive by's, walks, hikes, even a power trail. Thank you to all the CO's for their great hides!!!
This one almost did not happen! For some reason I was making it much harder for myself than it needed to be, until I realised that I may need some glucose for the brain to work better, and make a quick find in a very obvious place after a quick snack (I am sure that hidey hole was not there before??) TFTC!!

Forgot to log this due a rain induced evacuation. Kohaihai is one of my new faves thanks heaps for this cache.
We took a stroll up here late afternoon and the sun was blazing. The beach looked very inviting. The weka guarding the cache was still on duty.
We found. The. Cache quickly then headed back down the track. One day we will come here again.
TFTC. We left a trackable.

Yea made it! oh what a beautiful walk. So much to see. A couple of curious Weka were very interested on what finding a cache was all about.
What a wonderful place this is! Really enjoyed the late afternoon walk to this point. We discussed the idea of going further but realistically if we wanted to eat at a reasonable hour and then get some rest we had to make this our turn-around place. This gets a favourite from me - - for the hide, but also for the lovely walk, the fantastic views, the weka (pl) - - - the weather. TFTH .
Found during a short walk after we built up our tent on the Kohaihai campground.
Thanks for hiding.
