Yep, we went fishin’ again today.
The first time was a long time back, it was very windy, and starting to really rain and also the light was rapidly fading. We had also forgotten to bring suitable fishin’ gear so unfortunately had to give up.
The next time we had the appropriate fishin’ gear and maybe even some bait however a million school kids (read “busload”) had turned up close to GZ. We felt it inappropriate to go fishin’ while the kids were there and waited for a long while. However they were completing a “Water Watch” study and this was taking ages! In the end we left after a cursory look and without even spotting anything resembling a fish.
Owing to our previous failures some well-known geocaching friends decided to accompany us to film our success (or failure) and praise our efforts. (More likely they were going to laugh at us after we had fallen in!) They even provided a suitable fishin’ pole. Anyway we fished and fished to no avail. They even had a turn as they thought we were hopeless. Despite their best efforts and having caught a “fish” last year, they were also unsuccessful.
Maybe we were using the incorrect bait, no bait at all or the “fish” is just not there!! We need the CO to see if he/she can find a “fish” for us to try to catch on our next visit. Please!

We purchased some cheap equipment in Lakes Entrance and set out to conquer. Sadly, once we got to the starting coordinates we didn't know where to start, and due to no cellphone service decided to call it quits. Very lovely area here so we weren't disappointed and had a a wonderful day out.
Having spoken to a previous finder we came back today armed with what we thought we needed and determined to make the find. With no one around and the tide being kind we quickly made the find and signed the log. This is a great cache on a picture perfect day and we saw, fish, crabs, mussels and a seahorse which all indicate a healthy environment. Well done dundee2002 we will give a favourite point
On my way to Metung for 5 Day with my 2 girls and this cache was the highest on my hit list as I tried for a ftf on this at Easter 2013. Today as I left Warragul my wife rang me and said you wrote in diary DONT FORGET to take the .... dam it I forgot so I turned around and went and got it from my shed lucky I was only 5 min down the road. I am lucky I did turn around as I needed it. Love the cache really enjoyed this one. great camouflage, sl giving this a favorite Point. Thanks for the cache.
YAY - my geobuddy and I found it today after our DNF late last year. We came with the right fishing gear this time and fishing we went. We had the jetty to ourselves and this made our cache finding so much more pleasant. We could crawl around and hang over the edge and not have to worry about what muggles might be thinking. And, omg, what was that? A tug on our line! UUUmmm, looks like we've caught a cache. WOW - what a hide. This is brilliant. Thanks Dundee2002 - I greatly appreciate the effort that has gone into creating this one. Discovering this cache was alot of fun and it's in a really pretty area. This hide is a classic - thanks again.
Jimmy went fishing again today but this time I took my fising pole. Hmmmmm no luck yet......hang on, a nibble, no wait, thats a bite. Whoa!! It's a biggen. Better not loose this sucker. Got him Fantastic bit of fun landing this smiley. Thanks dundee for the work on this one. Fav for me.
Found this one with Tbelf. Brilliant hide. The sea horse has got the boot, and there is a new keeper of the cache.
This one would have to be the best one yet! Well done on the effort put into this one! found, signed and replaced!
Sneaky, clever cache with great view
I wouldn’t find this cache with out
megs_q and gwd.aussie
love the seahorse
Thanks

I can't say much about the cache without give away its hiding spot.
But i can tell you about the steps leading up to finding it.
for me it started last weekend with a quick look over the area, which turned into about 1 hour of wait for a fishing man, people walking a dog, and a couple siting in enjoying the view. After the area was clear, i looked and looked with no ideal of the cache hide. I decided to try again another day soon.
SQAU and Megs_Q was going into bairnsdale to do a pickup and ask if i want to tag along and perhaps do some caches, I said yes please.
After the pickup we when out to this cache, but a group of 4 or 5 people was fishing, with no sign of them packing up yet.
so we when to Metung to try our luck with caches there.
After a few other caches we return to "Go Fishing!"
then wait for the brokes fixing their boat, and the kayaks finishing packing up. Just then the wedding party turn up, then some walkers with a dog, and so on.....
so soon or later when got the homemade fishing rod and hook out of the car and went caching.

What an adventure, I don't think I have ever waited this long for people to move away from a cache before!!
As GWD said there were many people buzzing around. We thought it would be quite since it was so windy!
As GWD said I do not want to give anything away as it an amazing cache and the fun was mostly in the finding and possibly the two sea horses that we found
SQAU did take a few pictures of them
Thanks Dundee. This was great

This is one of my favourite fishing spots my bestest fishing buddy has moved away so I don't fish much these days. I packed my rod, my pen, my hooks my GPSr and took off straight after work today to try and find this one.....but.....oh how wrong was I. Looked High........ looked low..... dangled over.... and under...poked my rod in and around....cast here there everwhere....lost two hooks and a sinker ..... even resorted to ringing a cacher who had found it for a weee little hint....(they told me nothing except it was such a great cache they would not want to spoil it for me !!!) ummmm oh well I guess I will just have to come back and try again at some stage !!!! thanks for the hunt dundee2002 ( I guess a hint is out of the question)
Well this one took a bit of work but we finally got it...and it looked very fishy. Found with Swizzy2009.
I was so happy about my catch of the day! You do need to bring your fishing gear.....
I had quite a good long hard look for this one. Beautiful spot that the fishermuggles seem to like also.
The fact that it isn't even a micro has me scratching me noggin thinkin I must be going geoblind Doh!!
Next time for sure lol.

Not to be stopped from finding a cache by the Fishing Muggles on the jetty, I looked and I hunted and I looked and I hunted and I climbed down the ladder and I hung over the edge and I tried really hard to not look suspicious (cos I wasn't carrying a fishing rod) but nothing - aaaahhhhh - not a hint or trace of a cache or its hidey hole. Where could it be? This one has me stumped. Thanks for the hunt in such a beautiful place dundee2002 - I'll have another look next time I'm in East Gippsland.
Well, on a roll after the last couple of days successful caching, started here this morning - very cold. Did not find after at least 40 minutes searching up and down everywhere.
This one really has me bluffed
This one really has me bluffed
Freezing afternoon which is good because no muggles but alas no luck, too clever for us today....."we'll be back"
Some days you just need to get a little perspective on life, what better thing than teaching the geokids some casting, GPS was spot on in locating this great cache. Jetty to ourselves on an overcast day only took under 10 mins to locate from the time we were on the jetty - solitude is bliss. Went on to catch geochilds first bream under 15cm and back it went ,then geohubby who was in good books for cache find was a little sad at the puffer fish perhaps he should stick to caches LOL. Thanks for bringing us to a magnificent spot and adding a new element to our day.
Sneaky, clever and a lovely location . What more can you look for in a cache!
We were lucky as there were no muggles around today. It was hard enuf as it was. The muggle factor would lift the rating even higher. This one rates a favourite and is in our top 5 hides of all times (at least of those we've found!)

"dundee 2002" it looks as though you have beaten us for the moment. We came back today on our way home to Warragul & had a short look around but had to leave due to Muggles. We will be back.
It was a glorious day down by the water today, but there was no joy for us. We spent quite some time here, broken for a while by lunch in the park, but did not did find it. At that stage he had not seen the spoiler photo. Will have to go back to this beautiful spot. Thanks for the challenge dundee2002
We found a short break in the muggle traffic, but we need a lot more thinking time. Might have to wait til it rains
cheers

I set off this morning thinking with the extra hour of sleep that everyone would be having a sleep-in. How wrong was I!
The jetty was full of fishermuggles; I didn’t even stop, I just promptly turned around and went home.
After watching the game of the century; (With the best team winning by 17 points) Missjane offered to take me out to the jetty, if I shouted Dinner, which I promptly agreed to.
We set off at about 1815EST, we arrived at GZ suitably armed to find this cache (Except for the Aerogard) as Missjane soon discovered by being attacked by the local resident mozzies.
I soon located the cache (as per my previous DNF log I had already spent an hour at GZ; I actually located the cache but was unable to retrieve it due to the high Muggle factor) and very quickly retrieved it.
We were both impressed with the thought, time, effort, and the construction that went into the making of this cache.
With anticipation I opened the cache container: I carefully extracted the pencil; then slowly removed the log..............
Under the moonlight I could see some writing; I asked Missjane to shine the torch light on the log........
There were [black]2 LOG ENTRIES[/black]
[black]AAAAAAAGH we were 3rd to find[/black]
As I signed the log I could not help laughing to myself quite loudly actually at the irony of it all.
WELL DONE Erki, if I could give out favourite points, this would get you 10+.

Finally back home from a stint away; I can now catch up getting all the new caches that where put out whist I was away.
This was the first of nine that I went looking for; whilst on my way to Bairnsdale; on an errand for MissJane.
My only DNF for the day.
I arrived at GZ to find that the jetty was quite with only a photographer trying to get that perfect shot. As it turned out he was standing right on GZ. I hung around for about ten minutes but he was showing no sign of leaving. So I decided to go and get the other 2 caches in nearby Metung & return later.
I returned about an hour later. This time the jetty was full of fishermuggles; so I head off to Bairnsdale.
I returned in the late afternoon; to find the jetty still full of fishermuggles. I even joined in for about hour (with no luck) but no one was going home real soon. (Except me) I decide to head off and find it another day.

Good Friday morning. I came to check this new cache out. I searched all over jetty on, over, and under ( yes I climbed under ) the only thing I found out of the ordinary was a piece if treated timber wedged under the jetty and I pulled it out to check it out. Then replaced it. I checked the hint and checked everything which related to #5 even the rungs on the ladder. I then checked the spoiler photo to confirm I was in the right place. I think this cache has gone walkabout or for a swim as It was placed on 25 January 2013 but only published in 22 March 2013, Thanks Dundee2002 for bringing me here as I have never been here before and we have been coming up to Metung for 10 years as we owned a holiday house in Metung.
