Day 13 of three weeks winter motorhoming in the upper half of the South Island. Drove from stopover at Mokihinui Beach via Westport to Murchison today, picking up a few caches along the way. First real wet day, especially in the afternoon.

This was one of just three caches we located between Westport and Murchison as the rain started to set in in the afternoon. A quick find. #4158. TFTC.

06-May-21
Short stop to admire the view and the sign.

03-May-21
Old Ghost Road done...boots off...change of clothes...time to head home picking off some Park and Grabs on the way.

It seems *this* sign was never replaced...the DoC one a few metres up won the day.

It's still a nice rock to hide a cache under though.

Thanks

Yesterday we drove up the coast from Greymouth to Westport, and today we are travelling back via the inland route.
Parked up and soon found the cache, and we were just opening it as another car arrived. "You geocaching?" he asked us. Clearly we weren't being as stealthy as we thought! TFTC

We found the cache very quickly because of the good coordinates and there are not plenty of possibilities.

22199 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.

Today we went from Greymouth to Nelson, via Punkaiki and we had all day, so we made many stops. Allong the road we found many caches, but we also visited the Pancaces and Windholes. The caches brought us to many special remarkable places.

Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Muggles did not watch what we were doing.

bumandworker TFTC and the fun it brought us. Theo

#5282. The family are on holiday in the South Island. After driving up from Lake Brunner yesterday we spent the night in Westport. Today we head to Nelson. But first we are planning to visit Cape Foulwind, Tauranga Bay and the Seal Colony. Of course I have a list of geocaches to tick off before we arrive in Nelson. Heading off now towards Nelson. This was on the main highway and at a lovely spot to view the Buller River. A nice quick park and grab once the GPS turned me in the right direction. Signed and replaced the cache as found. Thanks for hiding it here b&w.

It's good to arrive at a view point with an actual view, and a pretty nice one at that! Too often the view is obscured by bushes and gorse, but this one could leave you lost for words. The bonus is a cache here too. tftc

Found with NZDi. We had been intending to do a trip to the Coast after a workmate and fellow geocacher came back from a Christmas camping holiday and dropped a map of walks around Westport on my desk. On comparing the walk and geocaching maps, it was apparent to see there was plenty of scope for a geocaching holiday or three to the coast. The only thing we needed to ensure was that the weather played the game, unlike when my workmate had her Christmas break there. Knowing that we had the weekend free this weekend I kept an eye on the forecast for the coast and it was looking pretty good, so a motel was booked and a rudimentary and flexible geocaching plan was hatched.

The idea was to head to the Coast early on Friday morning picking up no more than half a dozen caches along the way. We limited ourselves to this as we know from previous experience that it can take over six hours to do an hour and a quarter trip if you are geocaching as well.. Once we got to the coast, we were going to do the Cape Foulwind walk, then cache as much as we could from there back to town. We then intended to do as much of the K.R.T caches before retiring for the night and in the morning do the Charming Creek Walk before heading back home again picking up the odd cache along the way. In the end it was mission achieved with 71 finds over two days and only one DNF along the way.

We came across from Blenheim yesterday getting a few caches along the way. On arrival on the Coast we first headed out to the Cape Foulwind walking track and did that both ways. Then we found most of the other caches on the west side of the river. After that we headed over to the east side of river and did the K.R.T series and accompanying caches. Today's mission is to do the Charming Creek Walkway, then head home.

The 20 caches that we did on the Charming Creek walkway took us around five hours to do on foot and was an amazing walk, but no it is time to head home so I've made a selection of caches that I think are on the right (left) side of the road and which have reasonable parking to get on the way home. I've also given myself a two minute limit to find the cache, if I haven't found it by then, it is on to the next.

This was the first of nine found on the trip back home and like the other ten was a QEF PnG.

Cache soon found having left our excellent backpackers Hostel this morning and at the start of another day of driving and caching to our next hostel. Apologies for the cut-and paste logs but Internet poor at time of logging. Many thanks

Favourite point - for the cache name which most of my friends would agree doesn't describe me, though actually doesn't describe here now!

Travelling around the world with Dartmoor Deliverer to help her celebrate taking early retirement!

NB Dont forget our Devon UK Mega 2017 GC6JZNY this August in the beautiful East Devon area of our county. UK Megas are over one week full of events and geocaching - a wonderful way to enjoy our county!

We saw where it had to be as we pulled in so the GPS was left in the car. Added a few words to the log. Another enjoyable cache title from the CO. Limiting caches to park n grabs as it was rather wet today. Hey maybe the words washed away.
Thanks.
