We stopped here on our journey from Christchurch to Dunedin and quickly found what we were looking for. Many thanks for placing and maintaining the cache and best wishes from Frankfurt am Main.TFTCFBBHaegar
Last cache for the day after a great weekend up in Oamaru for the Steampunk festival and Arts Trail. Glad it was a nice quick find with the hint. Although it was almost dark, MrMagoo72 and I managed to get a great photo here too. TFTC.
Down here from big smoke so thouht be fun to find a few caeche. Love the stone of the "sign". TFTC
TFTC. Oamaru welcomed me. On way home from visiting my mum in Dunedin. I'll be back soon to find more caches.
One of several caches located today in driving from Moeraki through Oamaru to Awamoko, North Otago. Didn’t actually spot the welcome sign on entering Oamaru, it’s so far off the road! The cache itself was a quick find. #6255. TFTC.
Not as micro as we expected so it was very easy to locate.
Not many people around.

We were driving passed this one, so thought it would be rude not to stop and find the cache. A nice quick find and then we were on our way again. TFTC

Just a few meters away from our B&B. Quick find.
Thank you for the Cache says fabmike from Erlangen, Germany.

Arrived in Oamaru for one night stay. After setting up camp, having lunch and reading the ODT it was time to go sign off a few caches. I had intended to revisit Holmes Wharf but when I spied the crowds I decided to seek caches out west. This was the first stop. I can remember finding a cache at this location many many years ago. Quickly spotted and signed. TFTC drawp
A quick find. Contents all good. The monument is a good example of the local stone. Lovely. TFTC
Two of us had a pretty good search but starting looking too conspicuous.
It's either really tiny and well hidden or has been muggled
Cool monument though

Out for an early morning drive and so I thought I'd stop by and grab this cache. A nice straightforward find here thanks to your hint. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC
Quick find while heading for Christchurch. Will call into the Steampunk area to get the virtual cache on the way also. Thanks for the cache
Easter break and it’s time to catch up on the year to date coins. Got some out west and headed into Oamaru for lunch. Then back to Weston.

We have looked for this one before, although we hadn't logged a DNF. This time we found it easily according to the hint and so now we have a smiley face. In the past we did not like doing geocaching in town but after geocaching in the UK we are not quite as squeamish now.
School holiday outing on a lovely day, nice to get out and see this structure, instead of alway driving past it. Tftc
Had to come and get this after a awesome wet caching holiday. Thanks for the cache drawp.
#18041. Troodles did the hard work of finding the cache while I did the not so hard work of biking back to Weston to get the car. TFTC.
Day 3 and the last day of StreetWalkerNZ and my 3 day weekend in and around Oamaru. After an early start and finding 17 caches on the Cormacks Kia Ora Rd, we returned to base for a (well deserved) coffee and to pack up the car.
After biking a section of the A2O trail from Weston, I carried on to this cache while SW returned to Weston to get the car. I looked for this cache while waiting. It took much longer as it should have. My GPSr took me to the fence, which was thoroughly searched. After a while, I turned to GPSr off and on again. This time, it indicated I should search closer to the monument, which I did. There was the cache, in the obvious place! TFTC.

Down from Auckland to claim the last 2 Geotour caches and to pick up a heap of others for a challenge I’m working on. Not only that, I’m working towards my 8000th cache, oh where will it land I wonder??
No go for me today, I felt uncomfortable tramping thru all the foliage around the structure anyway. Cache probably still there I wouldn't be surprised, but I did search for awhile though, never mind, I'll have this on the watchlist and see what happens. Shame, 24 FP's, I would have been happy to see this.

Found during a long-overdue day of geocaching with safetykat in Oamaru. No worries here - absolutely loved the container on this one. Yet another one I've driven past many a time and not gone to get. Finally had the time today and I'm glad I did - a favourite for the container alone. Cheers!
Only had time for one caching stop on our way through to ChCh today so I quickly sorted out a park and grab that looked interesting. This one ticked the box and had me fooled until the lateral thinking kicked in. Nice one.
In Oamaru for the NZ Orienteering Champs and on the way back from an event took the opportunity to call by. Loved this. Favourite added. TFTC
TFTC- quickly found - enjoyed this cache
Up here with NZ Bozzy from favs for the latest souvenir

Hihi, this cache isn't for the angry ones. an easy find but nice idea. For that I will give it a favorite point. Thanks, I smiled a long time after.
Took a group of Geocachers out from Waitaki Girls High School and picked up a few local caches TFTC
Forgot the toolkit so had a struggle to get the log. But all in good time. Signed and away we go. Tftc.
turned a blue face into a yellow smiley as it was raining last time I searched quickly tftc
Last time we attempted this it was raining so was only a short search. This time nice and sunny and daylight too helped in a quick find tftc found with rayzr2
Day 8 - of our (The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara, & myself) epic adventure around amazing Oamaru. Moeraki Boulders have been explored - but what else can we find down here?
I so love these Oamaru bookends - so had to stop and check it out - and check out the cache at the same time. Only a little hunt here, then all sorted. Cheers

Taybeedragon and I shot down to the Moeraki Boulders after the Geofest. Shot down would be right - we skipped most of the cache along the road on the way down, and skipped many of them on the way back. But the dragon especially wanted to target the Welcome to Oamaru obelisk thingy, so here we are.
The (major road trip was about to begin) that was for the Oamaru Geofest trip in the company of HKCB and iammrwalker for a bit of a road trip across to the west coast, through Haast and in a roundabout way to Oamaru.
My trip stats were as follows: 617 caches (214 Puzzles), 3300kms, 500 litres of Petrol, 21 hours sleep, 100+hours caching time. THe weather was wonderful and apart from about a 6hour period on the sunday we had fine weather all the way and feel that we made a bit of a hole in the region.
Firstly thanks to all the CO's that put in the effort to to set up these caches and to all the CO's whose caches we did not find this trip, well we are already planning our next trip.
We worked hard at getting specific caches (especially the Geo Art around christchurch and hence our concentration on this area for the preliminary 24 hours. So after a couple of running repairs to the rental vehicle (fuses not working) we were off knowing that all ports could be charged and that sleep was for the weak.
Sorry about the copy and paste logs but that is what tends to happen with a number run of this size. What a day this was going to be and a chance to have a good look around the area. It was amazing to wake up after having afull nights sleep and not have that sand in the eyes feeling and sore back from sleeping in the back of a car. Starting the day off working our way along the coast, followed by a spot of inland caching before making it back to Oamaru for a bite to eat followed by a bit more caching.

The rain eased off in the early evening, and we decided to head out to collect a last few Oamaru caches before we return home to Tauranga tomorrow.
We would like to extend a huge THANKS to all the cache owners for providing so many good quality caches for us to hunt for ... we have had a wonderful time here, and the scenery in this area is AWESOME!

The Geofest was such a fun weekend but it was over too soon. Jess.daphne and I went on the caching trail for our final day and this was one of our finds. We signed the log as Jeje. we had to make a return visit for this little beauty. Thanks so much for placing this cache!
Day 3 of our visit to the Geo Fest 2017 in nearby Oamaru looking out caches with good favorite ratings, given the limited time we have in the area.
Caching with NZTravellers, KeyLev, and UncleSamNZ, so signed in as SEAC17 to save space.

We really liked these welcome signs into Oamaru. They've been well made, stand out, and are unique. Thanks drawp for placing a cache here which we found quite quickly once we arrived at GZ. Cheers and happy caching!
Found while in Oamaru for the Geofest. With Injeanious we signed the logs as JeJe to save time and space. TFTC!
Out with Ruru_NZ and DSI today cleaning up puzzles solved and also some of the many other caches that abound in the area. This was the last find for the day. Next time will need to combine with some family history searching as well.
Came down this way from the North for the Oamaru Geofest, and decided to add a few more days to the weekend trip and turn it into a bit of a Mega mission, starting 5pm on Wednesday 18th and finishing 3pm Monday 23rd! Teaming up with Cats&Dragons for the first 24 hours then with Iammrwalker joining the team for the remainder.
Just a few of the stats for the trip were:
- 700 caches found, including 270+ puzzles (thanks to the Christchurch Geoart)
- 3300 km's driven, using over 500L of fuel $$$
- Just over 20 hours of sleep (about 4 per day on average), and about 100 hours of caching time.
Certainly a Mega Trip!
Day 5: With a good nights sleep for the first time this trip, we were up early and out the door for another full days caching. The goal for today was to cache our way down to the Moeraki Boulders and then see where the next cache lead us. One thing we were looking out for today was caches which hadn't been found in a long time.
Sorry about the cut and past logs, but that seems to happen with cache runs of this size!

I found this Geocache on a Geocaching mega mission along with Cats&Dragons and HKCB. With only just over three and half thousand Geocache finds I was very much the over achiever in training. We were in the South Island to support the Oamaru Geofest event, hunt down some Jasmar and D/T harder to find Geocaches, lonely caches (those not found in more than 6 months), virtuals and try and meet some milestone numbers. We signed the logs HIC, an abbreviation of our respective Geocaching names, (H)KCB, (I)ammrwalker and (C)ats&dragons. A huge thanks to all the CO’s who placed and maintain the Geocaches we found.
I arrived in Christchurch late Thursday evening having left straight from work and was picked up by my intrepid companions in our four wheel drive rental to find they had already grabbed about 270 finds in the previous twenty four hours. I wonder if the rental company would have still let us have it had they known we would travel 3300km in it before returning it four days later? Our trip took us to Greymouth via Arthurs pass, Ngahere, down the west coast to Haast across to Hawea, Cromwell, Twizel, Aoraki Mt Cook, Tekapo, onto the east coast up to Oamaru and back up to Christchurch via Akaroa and countless diversions and small towns along the way. We slept in the car for the first two nights, grabbing some shut eye between cache finds, taking turns to drive. We rented a small place in Oamaru for the other two nights and appreciated a bed to sleep in and a hot shower. It was an amazing trip, in which I discovered the South Island has some of the most incredible scenery in the world.
Finally back in Oamaru after another day gallivanting around the countryside.

This should have been easier than it was. Frustrating process finding this one but go there in the end. TFTC
