Day 14 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and we say farewell to Dunedin and head to Invercargill so the fellas can visit the motorcycle museums. Most of the morning was just driving the scenic route with intermittent rain, time constraints and some closures meaning we skipped quite a few caches. After we arrived and the fellas had their fill we toured around town and headed to Bluff for the afternoon until hunger and cold sent us back indoors. The puzzle had been solved but its a tricky nasty spot with long wet grass and barbed wire - fortunately the cache is on the other side. Thanks for contributing to the fun

28-Oct-24
Day Fourteen of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris. The Mega day today and we spent it traveling from Dunedin to Invercargill. The weather improved this morning, and only occasional shower during our trip.We left early and were in Invercargill by lunchtime.Luckily the grass was dry as we were groveling around a bit before finding this cache. Thanks, Robmc.

07-Aug-24
Was just about to give up but decided to have another look. Found by D. TFTC

05-Jan-24
It is StreetWalkerNZ's and my last full day in Invercargill and the weather forecast is not the best. With walks planned, we'll just have to play it by ear.We had failed to find this cache several years ago and have never felt the inclination to return and have another look, but today we had avenged two DNFs and were feeling invincible . GZ was just as nasty as we remembered, long grass with barbed wire to entangle one. After about 5 minutes searching, SW made the find. Yay. For those that follow, make sure you are searching inside the fence, away from the road. TFTC.

05-Jan-24
#23458. We were driving past this one (albeit we had to cross to the other side to park) so decided to stop and see if we could avenge a DNF. We remembered GZ as not being much fun to search, and that was still the same. Happily after a fair bit of searching I located the cache. Whew! TFTC.

04-Jun-23
Did not find. Possibly been buried bu fallen trees and branches? Couldn't find any logs near the supposed final spot, or along the way. Will definitely try again.

12-May-23
A fantastic long weekend in the south with lots of caches! I am grateful to all CO's for keeping me entertained for hours!

Nice quick solve and a longish search, but successful! TFTC!!

South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - MEGA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!

08-Nov-22
Continuing the pilgrimage to find all of Uncle Granville's caches. Another one that we are glad to have turned in to a smiley. Thanks mate, you are still missed. Maraming Salaamat!

23-Oct-22
On my way to Bluff this morning I saw a possible way in as I zipped past. Stopped on my return and was at the stage of thinking about a PAF when I stood back and noticed something that I hadn't seen when blindly following the coordinates. Then it was a quick find. I solved this quite a few years ago when I first learn't how to easily solve this type of problem so it was nice to tidy it up. All in good order.

21-Aug-22
Invading Invercargill with Gadget169 for a weekend of caching and 2 events.
Have the morning to fill in before a bit of bacon and egg pie mmmmm
Hoping to turn a frown upside down here and sure enough found it straight away. So happy it has been replaced and even more happier to find a granville86a cache

01-Jul-22
I had another look and had a quick find. All good. Thanks

24-May-22
All good, cache replaced, thanks for the local help.

14-May-22
Dropped off Trackable

14-May-22
Visited Still there

10-May-22
Engaging locals to investigate. Thanks.

18-Feb-22
No joy. I had the correct spot, saw the hint object but like the previous caches a dnf. Is it still there?

14-Jan-22
Even with some good intel from previous finder we could not find the cache. With a number of dnf's logged perhaps timely for a check.

04-Jan-22
No luck here after scratching round for over half an hour and getting well scratched up in the process!!!
Messaged the last finder hoping they could confirm I was definitely in the right spot. Lucky for me they were close by and happy to come check and hunt with me. Still no go with this one but the bonus here was great company with lots of chatter and the offer to escort me to the nearest cache which just happened to belong to them thank you TDronsfield

26-Aug-21
Unfortunately I couldn't find it

27-Oct-20
OK once I sorted out this was a projection I gave it a go but the direct route tooke me through a boggy field so gave up. After Buggy on the return journey I spied another track towards the road. Yes lets have a look. Right place and hunted around but still no joy..

Tuesday 27 October. Checking out Invercargill again today. Lets go Toby!

16-Jun-20
Cache 75 Completed with the help of Wombat1234, I had previously been to this spot 2-3 times in the hunt for the cache, was put off each time by the barbwire, rubbish and DNFs
But now it’s done and dusted I was in the right spot just blind each time. Rock bug added to cache T4TC

09-Jun-20
Checked on Cache, still in place and waiting to be found.

09-Jun-20
Cache checked today by very friendly locals. Still in place and waiting for the next finder.

31-May-20
Got to the final location but had no luck, there is a huge part of the tree which has snapped at the end of the path, massive amounts of rubbish and broken glass and not to mention all the barbed wire wrapped around stuff, just didn’t feel safe without gloves hunting around for the cache

22-Mar-20
Three of us spent far too long looking here.

22-Mar-20
Too much rubbish, broken glass and barb wire and we had time restraints. Definitely gloves advised to search for this one

30-Dec-19
DNF. Full log to come.

07-Dec-19
We don't know how we missed that at our last search. Felt with gloves hand Jude-E and I are on a geocaching trip to the deep south. We are flying back home to Christchurch on the late afternoon. I love Geo art so we are concentrating on the big I, anything else is a bonus. Thanks granville86a for placing this geocache 8029 find for me.

Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

07-Dec-19
Day 3 of a 3 day caching venture with Nosynel. Our second visit to this spot having messaged the CO overnight who confirmed where we were looking was correct. Still not a quick find but happy to have found it. A little easier to find than I thought yesterday - we made hard work of it, but it was covered pretty well. Garden gloves come in handy sometimes. Thanks for the puzzle and cache.

05-Dec-19
On a 3 day caching venture with Nosynel. We have a few goals in mind, especially the TMGT caches and Bluff Hill. We had the right coordinates but nothing found anywhere near the hint object. We looked very thoroughly. Perhaps it is gone.

05-Dec-19
We searched for twenty minutes with gloves on. No luck.

05-Dec-19
This geocacher reported that the cache might be missing.

19-Jul-19
Watch out for the barbed wire! Easy find if a bit squidgy. Quite a bit of rubbish. First Eureka was just an old beer bottle.

14-Mar-19
Accurate coords worked out, got me to the spot. .a bit of rummaging around came up with cache in hand tftc

This one eluded us. There was rubbish all over the place, ripped my shirt on the fence, that went down well.

16-Oct-18
Found 1st coordinate
2nd dnf

16-Oct-18
dnf 2nd coordinate

28-Apr-18
Spent an hour trying to find but wasn't found wouldn't bother looking again

28-Apr-18
Cache definitely still here. Took the trackable.

04-Dec-17
Oophs. Reading through the various logs it seems I might have projected from the wrong coordinates. There was a large hint object there but it was a nasty spot to search. Now thinking I should have been in quite a different place to search using different coordinates. Next time.

28-Nov-17
It seems I might need a big X on the ground to show me where the cache is. I think I had projected the coordinates correctly but a search of an area with barbed wire, long grass and other large objects failed to reveal any cache. If its still here its better hidden than my abilities to find it.

11-Nov-17
After a few days of very intense work activities, I had one last full day free in Invercargill before I head back home to Nelson tomorrow. I headed off early for a full day out caching to see how many caches I could find. The weather was threatening but apart from a cold wind and occasional drizzle it really wasn't too bad. I solved this puzzle yesterday so it was good to be able to get to the cache today. TFTC, Biggles.

27-Oct-17
In town, so a few more smilies today.
This one had been a mission and a half. At least 4of us got the projected coords together and had first look with no luck.
Since then I have been back at least once without any joy. Several PAF later, and those in the original group have been finding it - starting with this with the least finds.
Am I losing my touch? Some days yes!
Arrived here with specific instructions today, and it still took over 5 mins to find the container.
That's caching for you done days.
Anyway, thanks for the frustration, and eventually the smilie. Another multi on my way to 100 of them.
Thanks for the smilie.

Yes found it took a little thinking out side the box and a lot of never give up searching and finally had it in hand Sl and returned.
Off home to lick my war wounds
tftc

17-Oct-17
Stopped by en route to Bluff but gave up after a 5 mins search. Could have done with an X marking the spot.

14-Oct-17
With perseverance and a never give up attitude ... success!!
Tftc and muddy knees and a few scratches!

14-Oct-17
Looked and looked and looked.........finally we found the little thing.
Tftc and got a bit dirty

19-Aug-17
No luck today. Will return another day.

This is not a request for help from anyone, not a request for anyone other than the owner to check the cache nor it it a maintenance request.
It is simply a statement that today I was not able to find the cache.
4:08 PM 19th Aug 2017
This log posted with CacheSense for Android!

05-Jul-17
Finally. The coordinates I got had some offset and after intesive searching I returned home empty handed and verified the results. Today I was just passing by and re-checked the places matching with the hint. Some bigger animal had dropped it's skeleton nearby. TFTC.

05-Jun-17
Brrrrr!!!! Grass was very white and crunchy underfoot today. Quick find with Tuitigger tagging along. TFTC

16-Apr-17
Solved before I left home and as I was driving by on the way to Bluff..... Be rude not to find and sign. Took a minute or 3 but managed to find it ok. Cheers.

Day three of our Easter holiday to Invercargill.

Thanks to all of the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

01-Apr-17
After the busiest week of the year at work... i have done nothing today! Couldn't waste a great day doing nothing, so decided to grab a few caches. This the first for the day at 4.15pm, and easily found. Took a trackable, will log later. Granville, I'm jealous of your journey you're able to embark on, have fun!

22-Mar-17
We are familiar with doing GPS projections so had no difficulties with deriving a co-ordinate for the final GZ.
We arrived there today and began to look for the cache. The area was a bit overgrown and the hunt took a wee while, but the cache was found. Thanks.

14-Mar-17
Found the spot and walked the path down. Cache found after scratching around the punky place. SL TFTP

04-Jan-17
Found readily.Good to use gps for projection.TFTC

09-Sep-16
Found the X and did the calculation. It took a while to spot the cache, but finally I could log it.
Thanks for hiding!

30-Apr-16
Although I did not solve this one quite how the CO intended, I did come up with some co-ords that proved to be spot on. Thanks to the CO for a guided tour for the reason behind the name of this cache. Found with Aoraki Sheep.

30-Apr-16
If we'd played this one right it would have been up to me but as it was debsnz had the co-ords already in hand. Found with debsnz

13-Feb-16
Solved this puzzle whilst lunching in the city. I was not sure whether there would be parking available close to GZ so I parked on a side street and bush-bashed my way from the Kew Road cache. Afterwards I took the easier way to get back to the cachemobile. Wink TFTC.

07-Nov-15
Wow this place had a very eerie feel to it, I reckon you could easily shoot a hospital horror movie in those trees just off to the side. Mrs beconaze managed to find a dead Pigeon, hmmm wonder if this is a clever camo for the cache, pokes it with stick, nope, its just a dead pigeon. Found it in the end

02-Oct-15
That's a huge 'X' lol Cool Definitely not a rushed grab with barb wire guarding the GZ plenty of trash here. CITO'd a campchair and ashcan. Sad

25-Aug-15
Haha found it - thanks Granville another hole in my puffer jacket -my fault - should of read the notes about the barbed wire Smile

07-Jun-15
Found with Vydra20. TFTC

07-Jun-15
Found during Sunday biking trip. Tftc! Smile

23-Apr-15
Yay! My first mystery cache, wasn't quite sure that I understood what to do until I found it. Thanks.

28-Mar-15
Woohoo - found this cache & I think it completes a Challenge (puzzle caches starting A-Z) for me.
I solved this ages ago; was in the region briefly in 11/2014 but didn't have time to search.
Today - I flew to Queenstown then drove here on a road trip. Pleasant walk in a lovely stand of bush, quick find.
Thanks, granville86a - there aren't many puzzle caches starting with X !

14-Mar-15
After trying to remember how to do project a bearing, found after a nice walk on PI Day., Found by Diane.

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] Razz
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands Red Face[8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list Cool
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches Surprised
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches Wink
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution Cool
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]

During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC Sad
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:

Chapter 9: [red]Southland[/red] including [green]Invercargill[/green] and [navy]Bluff[/navy]
Exploring the southern part of [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green] was our mission of the day Wink
Driving around in the beautiful area we also stopped for some caches [:X]

This unknown cache was one of them Wink
Arrived at GZ we could find the cache after some minutes Big GrinCoolSmile

I would like to thank all the cache owners for showing us these great places and maintaining all these caches,
Dev46

Together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3BC8B][red]'Dev46'[/navy][/url][/red] I was on a 'sightseeing-tour' through lovely [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green] Wink
During our great time we could see a lot of beautiful places and we also could find 'some' caches in the area...this was one them [:X]

Many thanks to all CO's for all these nice caches CoolBig Grin

After reading latest logs, checked out and cache is still exactly where it should. Should cause no problems in finding if approached correctly.

18-Oct-14
DNF
We expect that we were in the right location (although no geochecker or checksum on solving the puzzler, so that could be queried too).
Did due diligence, came up empty handed.
Sad

11-Oct-14
After spending the day looking and using 4x compass's showing different results we found the general area we "think" it is. Wondering if the cache is still in place or if it has grown legs?

No need to get tangled in barbed wire and blackberries if you approach from the right side. Yay geotool! TFTC

31-May-14
A couple of half days down south. Lots of new caches since I was here last. Thanks for hiding them!

23-Mar-14
After the old 'let's give up but have one more look before we go' routine, managed to come up with the goods. Please be careful of barbed wire and hidden holes. Rolled my ankle again in my jandals for this one. Wah!

22-Mar-14
I read the previous logs & tried my best to watch out for the barbed wire & blackberry but they had other ideas. My arms & legs are battle scarred but kind of worth it with the cache finally in hand. I would now say that barbed wire & blackberry are now up there on my list of pet hates along with flaxes. TFTC Smile

07-Feb-14
A quick easy find after making the projection. TFTC

14-Nov-13
Very funny. We need some compass work. TFTC

12-Nov-13

21-Oct-13
Thanks for the puzzle quickly found

20-Oct-13
TFTC hadnt been back here before Smile

29-Sep-13
Found the old fashioned way. Tftc

22-Sep-13
TFTC, Dad passes this area every day, so knew where to look.

22-Sep-13
Love the puzzle, great to see a puzzle that adds to the skills of using the GPS. Another great puzzle for southland, thanks granville86a

14-Sep-13
Tftc got hailed on but soon had cache in hand

12-Sep-13
After finding Kew Road I took a direct or so I thought line to my projected cords but found a big lake in there so backtracked a bit. After a search at GZ the cache was soon logged and YES First to Find. It was a great reward for doing this in a hail/sleet storm. TFTC.
Found @ Thursday 1.23 pm 12.9.13
The cords lead straight to the spot but my first reach in to find did not find it so spent about 5 mins searching just to find it in my first search spot. LOL
A warning... BEWARE of blackberry and slippery logs with barbed wire attached when doing the search.

12-Sep-13
Found at 3:35 PM
Went down in the morning and the rain chased us out, back in the afternoon and just missed an FTF.
