This was my second visit to this cache as the first time this area was underwater. I was glad to see today the area has returned to normal but this Earthcache still seemed to have a lot of residue dirt etc covering it, obviously from the flood. The weather was great this week for a walk along the river and there were a few enjoying the serenity. I was focussed on caches though as I try to reach 1000 caches before Australia Day. This is my 950th cache. It doesnt sound a lot more to do but it has taken me approx. 10 years to get to 950. Answers to follow. TFTEC
The AFL Grand Final is on in Melbourne this weekend so it is a great time to get out of the place for a long weekend away and any excuse to go caching.I checked the weather conditions of North, South, East and West in my part of the country and West won out so Im heading over to Murray Bridge for 3 nights as I was able to get Thursday off and make it a 4 day break. The weather is looking good and I left Melbourne nice and early to make the most of my break.I crossed the border into SA so let the fun begin. The ice cream series and the new Straya challenge caches were the main reason for heading this way when I picked which direction I was heading. After completing the Ice cream and the Straya series of caches throw in a few of the Wandering Heros and GEOPETS caches its time to have a wander around town.Having a wander around the old port area and along the river there is a lot of history to be seen and read.An interesting outcrop that in Sturt Reserve and a great read on the info board.Answers have been sent to the CO.Thanks McAdies TFTEC.
On what is now a bleak winter's day, I thought I would take a chance to tackle another earthcache in my hometown. I wont say how long I have lived here but I've never came across this outcrop. Very interesting where this granite ended up and 6kms away, more granite in Kinchina Park that ended up on other North Terrace, Adelaide, buildings. TFTC McAdies. Hopefully muggles stop to take the time to read the interesting facts here.
A quick earth cache with chubly09 makes a difference from the traditionals Thanks for the cache Down in Murray bridge for a couple days and Im pretty sure we got 48 caches in one day!!!! Nipping around Murray bridge to get some good ones they never fail to amaze meTFTC and keeping up the maintenance
At the murray for a couple days picking up the caches with buddy9TftfA fun earth cache with interesting history
Using our rise up the river voucher and staying in the Bridgeport hotel, this is a short stroll from there. Glorious day for a walk in the Sturt Reserve with Autumn not quite wanting to give up the warm sunny days. Thanx
Man it is a hot day. I stopped into the supermarket looking for an ice-cream and found a dedicated ice-cream shop - a real surprise and ice-cream does not seem to be a big thing in Australia (not as big as in New Zealand, anyway. See those ice-cream freezers in the service stations and supermarkets? NZBITS would easily have double!).Feeling a bit refreshed I steeped back out into the noon-day sun to have a go at this earth cache. Rather a nice one, interesting to see these granites just... lurking here. And then my phone pretty conks out. I was using it to navigate so it was sitting in the car window - oh, and the car does not have air con - and it decided to shut down due to the heat. Well, fine, its about time I turned back. Was interesting finding my way back to Gawler the old school way, without phone nav. This cache gets a fave. Many thanks.---Greetings from New Zealand! It's the last day of my Mega holiday in Australia. Mostly, so far, it has been about the numbers, today it is about quality. Skuzzy Bear gave me a overly ambitious list of 130 caches to visit, all good ones, apparently. So they were the only ones I looked at today. Lord knows how many I just drove past! on the long route out to Murray Bridge. Only found sixteen caches, but probably dropped 10 favourites, my biggest favourite drop day to date. There are some seriously cool caches out there!
I've been to Adelaide for the Great Leap Forward mega and are on a roundabout way home after finding a lot of GeoArt and other caches in SA. We are staying the night in Murray Bridge and went to the river to eat our lunch and get the answers for this earthcache and the virtual and even collected a couple of AdLab answers. Answers sent to CO today
**Today**Today myself and DSD woke up in Murray Bridge and headed straight to Mannum for the Amazing Breakfast event! It was another great little catch-up before we returned to Murray Bridge to grab some caches in town. Our main goal of today was to find the webcam cache at Victor Harbour, so we focused our day on getting there, caching locally, and then heading into Adelaide for the first official mega side event at the parklands! It was a successful caching day in & around Victor Harbour, we even managed to get one of the best webcam photos the cache page has ever seen! Thanks to all the COs -**This Cache**Observed the granite here and checked out the info board before answering the questions which were sent off and approved by the CO! Great to grab another cache type in Murray Bridge! Thanks for the cache
GC4NJ2J Sturt Reserve GranitesA group of us are down from Darwin and Brisbane in preparation of the leap year event. Today we head from Mannum to Adelaide picking up various caches. To save space in the logs we have signed as BOLD7. Was meant to be BDLD7 but something got lost in translation. Lovely park lands that where busy with a water skiing comp going on. Watched a few runs and heard that it was a 16 yo girl I was watching from Perth. She was fantastic Questions pondered and answers sent in via TeamARF. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC McAdies
Out and about collecting more smilies. Signed with Leap mega team nickname BOLD7. Thanks for hiding and maintaining the cache.Answers for Team BOLD7 were sent by TeamARF.
Continuing on with my South Australian caching tour and the mad collection of caches in the state. I am again part of the BOLD 7 team doing the mad assault on as many caches as we can. Today is going to be a mad long day as I am driving to Mt. Gamber and surrounds to chase some LGAs and some special caches. So glad to have finished off over the 300 of the Bike series, the ice cream cone art was fun, the anna tommy art was hot, the stayla challenges were cool. Now to move onto a different area of the state. OH the big Lobster is on the cards today. Love a Big Thing rings true today.First off today is the morning event. Was nice to see so many people turn up to the event. From there it was off on the drive.I am really loving the countryside of this state and the people are friendly while still watchful of you.We signed the caches as BOLD 7 and replaced them as we found them. Thanks for the hides and the great caches. Mum we will be late home. This was completed before the run south, even saw some waterskiing which brought back memories. Answers were sent in by TeamARF as the group secretary
Last night the BOLD07 dropped by the Sturt Reserve to grab a virtual and have a look at this earthcache. At 9pm the light had rightly faded and the street lights / phone lights couldn't provide anything useful so it was left to this morning to take a proper look at the granite outcrop.Arriving at the reserve, it was great to see a water skiing competition underway and a vessel I hadn't seen before, which I thought was pretty cool (photo attached).Answers on behalf of the BOLD07 experiment forwarded to the COs for their consideration. Thanks to the McAdies for showing off this granite outcrop and highlighting some of the rock's history.
Quickly found with Nibletricecakes on Day 7 of our Adelaide Leap Year Mega trip. Answers sent to the co. TFTC.
Busy down here today with the water skiing championships on in the area..Day 7 of our Great Leap Forward leap year Mega trip of 2024. Traveling today with GLISS! Always wonderful to be travelling across the country enjoying the amazing scenery and caching along the way. Main focus for this trip has been to tidy up the last couple of counties needed in Victoria and make a serious dent in the South Australian ones. Plus a few days in Adelaide enjoying the mega fun. A hot dry trip this time around. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches so we can enjoy the game.
BOLD7 having a fab time in Adelaide and surrounds. Lots of laughs and some brilliant inventive caches.!thanks to all the COs ! Out in the evening for a nearby virtual after dinner. TeamARF has submitted answers for BOLD7! Tftc

We attended a Sunday Coffee and Cars event at the nearby carpark a few months ago and obtained the details for this cache, but forgot to log it then!
Answers to sent to the CO today.
The park was very busy and the Lions Club van was doing a great job with a bbq breakfast for everyone. The bunyip was kept busy too! Thanks for the cache McAdies.

TreeTrack2 and Dromaniax decided that the long weekend represented a perfect opportunity to cache South Australia. After work was over for the day, it was a case of packing the fill-in geomobile, the Black Squid and hitting the road Jack. We won't be back until we have found around 500 caches.
We have prepared well for the weekend with plenty of target caches in our sights. We are looking for old, large, and virtual caches and all the while intending to increase our average D and T for finds.
Most of our logs will be generic, as there will be many of them.
We thank all cache owners for their time and effort in creating caches for our entertainment. Unless otherwise specified, we found all caches in great condition.
Finding the answers for an Earthcache at 3 am takes some effort, but we enjoyed trying.
Thank you for this Earthcache, McAdies.

We are spending a few nights around Murray Bridge, and are very happy to be here to explore this area.
Around GZ, it is clear to see the devastation of the recent floods, but also good to see the rehabilitation that is following on from this.
The granite, however, has not seemed to mind the flooding at all, and we enjoyed visiting this area.
We have sent out answers to the CO.
Thank you McAdies for highlighting this most beautiful area, and the geology here, which has played a great part in the growth of this town and as far away as Adelaide.

Found on NYE with Chookster on a trip to Murray Bridge for a few caches and to check out the river. I worked in Murray Bridge for 3 years, and visited this area occasionally and never noticed these before, even when standing right there i thought they were garden beds ready to be planted after the water subsides!
Most of the work for the answers came from Chookster who knows about rocks and stuff.
TFTC, I learned stuff here!

A great Earthcache to check out while naughtybunny and I visited this Sturt Reserve to have a look a the flood levels. We both thought these were garden beds ready for planting until we saw the cache here and the information sign. Wow. I didn't know these were here and I have a major in Geology. Thanks for bringing us here and showing us this place. Answers submitted. Cheers.
Found this one but had to take a slight detour to GZ as the carpark was flooded!!!
Nice little stop in Murray Bridge for dinner anyway.

Spent some time in Sturt Park and enjoying the day with ilook4geo and Geologic2. This was an interesting feature in the park and answers to the questions have been sent to the CO. Thanks for the earth cache creation go to McAdies.
Day 4 of my Adelaide adventure with my sister jendavo01. Onboard the Murray Princess for a 7 day cruise along the river, hopefully we stop long enough to claim some smilies today . Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining their for others to find .
I wandered by this way after performing some maintenance on a nearby cache. I took pictures and reviewed the information but took til today to find the time to log it. Thanks for the EC McAdies, nice to read about the history of the granite in this area. Answers sent.
I had just started to try to examine the lichen covered granite here, when the heavens opened. I ran to my car and jumped in out of the rain. I returned with my umbrella. The lichen makes it hard to see the granite, but fortunately there were some lichen free areas in the gutters. Answers sent. TFTC McAdies.

Found GZ today at 29/05/2022 at 1300 hrs have messaged CO wieth answers to quiz. Recently completed a similar Earth Cache in Glenelg, South Australia about granite and blue stone formation.
Thank you and my apologies for a late log - Was here in March and after being away with work, have finally had time to sit down and do some logging!! Was here on a day off while doing a reccy for a cache about to be publish so thought I would grab a few caches on the way. Pic to be loaded from phone separately. TYFTC Answers sent to CO
Logging with permission. I don’t think I’ve ever noticed the exposed granite here before; always craning my neck trying to get a freebie glimpse of the latest bunyip. This is an interesting and worthy addition to all the other caching and Adventure Lab stops along the river. Check it out!
Thank you McAdies for putting this together, I appreciate your effort.

I knew there was something funny going on when I saw the rock outcrops! What's happening here? I worked my way through the questions and did my best. McAdies are such a delight.
Amazing natural formations, and would have been a pain to mow around when the area was settled
So we did it, we took the plunge and early last year made arrangements to sell our little hobby farm in South Gippsland and ‘do a big lap’.
No full lap is complete without a lap of the little island first.
So after tidying up our affairs and putting everything into storage, we celebrated Christmas with our families and hit the road.
We recently spent 7 magnificent weeks in beautiful Tasmania, then we just did a quick trip down the west coast of boring old Victoria, making our way to South Australia, quickly crossing the border before Covid struck Victoria again.
We Looked forward to slowing things down as we spend time in SA with no return date planned. We just spent 20 odd days along the Limestone coast, bagging out on Abalone most days, very few crayfish though
Thanks for being one of the CO’s who supplied us with a cache to do on the way.

Had a bit of trouble getting to the granite so had to view from a distance. Hopefully the answers are ok.

Today Tankengine and I were leaving Adelaide and heading to Tailem Bend for the night. Not far, but we had always intended to head here before Adelaide and we also were going to spend two nights to collect a heap of wanted caches. But with changing plans we were still happy to have at least one night there.
So we spent the day slowly travelling down and collecting a few fun caches and sight seeing along the way.
This cache: While we were in the area we thought we would give this one a go too. We discussed the answers and Tankengine sent our thoughts to the CO. I always find earth caches tricky, but having someone with you can sometimes help, this time it did too - to a point. There was a moment where we sounded like an old married couple when "discussing" the size of the crystals, but all was settled in the end. Tftc McAdies!!!

Chooo ooo [Found] with dty73 on our SA Road Trip! So nice that the borders are slowly starting to open! Thanks McAdies
After attending the nearby event near Monarto, I decided to head to Murray Bridge for an early dinner.
While exploring I grabbed a couple of caches. I am targeting Earthcaches at the moment to help with a SFE challenge near Millicent.
After a bit of reading and studying the rocks I came up with some answers that have been sent.
I visited this park dozens of times in my 20’s as a muggle and embarrassingly never noticed these rocks.
Thanks for the cache and bringing these amazing rocks to my attention McAdies - Platinum Earthcache Masters.

Walking day with the geo-pup around Murray Bridge, great history, thanks for enlightening us, and TFTC.
Visited while taking advantage of the nice weather and grabbing a few caches in Murray Bridge and surrounds. The highlight of my afternoon was seeing a few pelicans on the river. Answers sent. TFTC
I visited this earthcache while completing a bit of a circuit with FeatherWaite around Sherlock, Malinong, Cooke Plains, and then back to Murray Bridge. The aim was to find a range of targeted Traditional, Letterbox, Mystery, Wherigo, Multi and Earthcaches. We also gathered the information required to complete the Adventure Lab caches around Murray Bridge and finished the day with a night cache.
All in all it was quite a successful day with no DNFs and we were lucky with some good weather, albeit a little cool!
I quite enjoyed the stroll around this riverfront area. I was surprised to see these granite outcrops here.
Thanks McAdies for an interesting earthcache.

Found when visiting this lovely area for both visitors and the community on our way to Fleurieu Peninsula. I have been here and checked it out before but forgot to log it back a few years ago. So we came back to revisit and get the answers again. I have sent the answers to the CO and have had the ok to log this as a find. TFTEC
Never knew these were here, but thanks to Geocaching we do now.

Murray Bridge is a great little town, and boy has it grown over time. Expect I’ll be back soon as lots of caches to mop up.

Tackled this one with the geopartner (hakentek) while on stopping by Murray Bridge to meet with family. Had some lunch from our favourite bakery (McCue's) down on the riverfront with the friendly geese. This was a very interesting cache, my favourite earth cache so far.

Nomads travelling in their caravan around Australia. We have been on the road since July 2011 and discovered caching in August 2013. We travel with a bunch of travel bugs belonging to our sons and grand children. Where ever possible, we will maintain your cache as we travel.
After our house sit in Willunga, we are on the road again, filling in time before we go to Kangaroo Island on 1 Nov. Based at Murray Bridge Showgrounds - the home of Oz Mega 2014.
Visited the Sturt Reserve Granites while we waited to board the Captain Proud for a lunch cruise. Answers sent to Cache Owner.

Thought we would take a quiet Sunday morning walk through the Kinchina Conservation Park, however had not expected it to coincide with a 75km/50km/25km trail run from Monarto into Murray Bridge. When we weren't making way for runners to pass we found a few caches but this wasn't one of them. When we finished at Kinchina we thought we'd head to the finish line for the runners which was at Sturt Reserve. Heading back to the car I checked to see what caches were about and this came up - only 20 metres from where I'd parked. The information was soon obtained and field inspections undertaken. Answers were submitted and the CO responded in record time. TFTC
Five caches required today to help me towards the 10 caches per calendar day and Murray Bridge was the focus giving me the chance to kill two birds in one go. An old family friend lives in town and Dad has been saying it would be nice to catch up with her. (Dad isn't capable of driving to Murray Bridge any more.)
After a lovely lunch it was time to head out and cache while those two solved the problems of the world.
Despite visiting this reserve a number of times today was the first time where I had time to have a good look at the granite. Answers have been sent to McAdies.

Hi there McAdies.
We found your cache **"Sturt Reserve Granites"** at 9:57:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 21794).
Today we cached around Murray Bridge and found 15 caches in a variety of container types and sizes (& DNF'd 2). Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

We undertook this interesting Earthcache on this beautiful warm and sunny day. We made our Field Notes and have subsequently submitted our answer to the CO. Thanks so much for the Earthcache and greetings from Zimbabwe
Amazing that rocks can be grouped in this way over such a large area. thanks for your efforts - they are much appreciated.
Walked here from Clare, only 350 kilometre walk. With a spare day in Murray Bridge decided to complete some of the local caches. I do like an earthcache, though I was not sure of some of my answers. The CO was happy with them. Great little park and saw the Murray Princess coming in. TFTC.
Today I was going back through some of the photos of the earth caches that I had collected over the past month or so. This is a nice spot by the river and some interesting history on the sign near by.

A spot I had been too many times (as my youngest geoson has been racing in the Pedal Prix there for the last 5 or so years - and we will be back again this year). But on my most recent visit I stopped and gathered the information required for this cache. Answers sent off this morning and the OK given.

Out today to do a bit of caching and attend an event after which we headed off with Hevwalker to grab a couple of local caches. Discovered this one (I actually engraved the original signage board) and answers have been sent to the CO! TFTC
It was a day of the CITO this morning at Mount Barker, some back streets driving towards Murray Bridge, and then some caches around the area. We had a secondary objective today to find all cache types.
After the Parkville preparation event nearby, we walked over to these rocks to get another dose of geology today. The study of these rocks was quite interesting and between the sign information and linked questions, it was a good analysis. Many thanks for arranging this one, have sent answers to the CO, cheers.

Since it was Earth Cache Day, what were we to do? Go for a drive to visit a Muggle friend in Murray Bridge who also wanted to learn a bit more about GeoCaching. Oh and nab ourselves an Earth Cache It was such a beautiful day for a walk around Sturt Reserve.
Took all three of us a bit to figure out a part of the answer but got there eventually!
Thanks for the cache!! I didn’t realise how much history is around the place!

It's my third day in Australia! Monday micaparamedic picked me up at the airport and the adventure began. We tossed my things into his vehicle and began the journey to Uluru, because walking around that "rock" was on my bucket list.
Along the way we stopped for special caches (particularly earthcaches) at locations that would teach me about this huge country and some of its geology. Some concepts and hides were familiar to me; however, most were things I had never seen or even known about. I was constantly trying to wrap my head around new things - not just the geology, but also other things like birds, animals and trees. (and getting in on the correct passenger side of the car)
The amazing thing about this earthcache is that it's the first time I had seen rose granite. I didn't want to believe it and had to accept something new to me - feldspar isn't always white like "back home."
Thanks for an interesting learning.

After the ANZAC Day ceremony at Wellington I headed home the long way round to pick up a few of the Oz Mega caches. This was just a nice spot for a late breakfast. I'd never realised there were these granites here!

We had fun with caching few weeks here in Australia ( South Australia and Northern Territory ). Lots of geocaches and many sort of them too. We saw awesome places, weather was good all the time and people were friendly and polite. Caches were pretty similar like in our home country. Of course there were some exeptions. Nice and huge country!
