This was the fourth from this series today. Again walked in from about 150m from above. Was really surprised at the location of the cache and was praying there were no snakes.
Finally found this one after reading some of the logs. GZ was spot on but was just looking in the wrong place.
Log was fine but my pen decided to die so l think l wrote TheR and that was it. It was really humid by now.
Thanks H_3 for the series. Really enjoyed the exercise and finding these elusive caches today. Really enjoyed the locations too. A fav for this but l would have liked one for each (except my DNF )

These were tough little caches but with the dt ratings we expected that. A nice afternoon with McLookers and BeckNMonts and we drove as close as we dared at each cache.
Beck did a great job getting us here
Thanks Krankitkiwi

Skilled driving by beckNmonts got us as close as practical. Then it was time to hot foot it to GZ. Feathertop was the eagle eye here and had the cache in hand. Once we had signed, we replaced and then headed back to the car. ThanksH_3.
I headed out with McLookers & Feathertop today, with this series of caches in mind. We had a great time, and the tracks were nice and dry for us. A slightly cooler day would have been nice, but we can’t have everything. Nice hides, although we did find one that had fallen off the tree. I placed it at the base of the tree, as I tried to tie it back to where it came from, but the line kept breaking. Great series! TFTC H_3
Out for a day of 4WD caching fun with Geoturtle37 and dazzpete. This was our second in this group and after our bit of fun at our first stop we decided to make our approach to this one on shanks pony. The track was seriously rutted and it wasn't worth risking damage to the vehicles for the sake of a couple of hundred metres. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Unable to drive as close as we would have liked. Unfortunately, the tracks have some serious damage to them which was such a shame as we were looking forward to exploring more extensively. The caches has lost the ability to be attached the way it was intended. The log was very wet so the cache was left off the ground in the hopes that it will dry out a bit. Thanks for the placement of these caches. Great area.
Second cache in this little clump for us and the first where we were unable to drive right to GZ. This would be the theme for the remainder as we began to realise just how weathered and rutted the tracks are around here; you would need some serious machinery to navigate them.
Found the cache on the ground as the fishing line has become brittle and is no longer capable of retaining anything. As a result the log book was sodden and made it difficult to make our mark. Replace the cache as high as we could in the home that it will not end up on the ground again.

With a few days off from work, the plan was to get the geo wheels a little dirty on some tracks off the main roads. I was packed with plenty of fluids, the geo toolkit, the PLB, GPSr packed with geocaches and plenty of snacks to get me through. I really enjoyed this geo adventure, plenty of new sites found over the journey. Well the days journey was coming to an end. This was the end goal. This road was crazy. I'm not surprised the hubs needed to be locked in here. Cache was well off the road but thankfully easy to spot. Cache log was damp and the string was very brittle. Replaced as found.
**Thanks for placing this trad cache for us to find H_3**
**Cache container ok, log damp**
**Took nothing, Left nothing**

And all 4 of these 4WD caches are now smilies, after logging a couple of DNFs 2 days ago.
This was a lot easier this time in daylight - I managed to find a way in to GZ and located the cache after a few minutes.
There are some hard-core 4WD tracks around here for the enthusiasts - some serious ground clearance is needed. Or just a pair of shoes .
Thanks, H_3.

Made my way through the mud to the area, and tried bushbashing my way to GZ. In the dark I had no chance - couldn't find any track or wallaby trail, and didn't get closer than 15m!

What better way to spend the day with geoDog out caching in the 4WD. Perfect weather to have a good go at caking not just the 4WD in mud but the dog too.
Fantastic cache spots by the way, Ive enjoyed collecting smileys for a change. And what better way to anoy the caching owner than to put the same description on every cache... Thanks to H_3

Found It......Found this one on Easter Monday while doing some cache maintenance on one of ours, After finding a short cut through the young pines and pulling up at the top of the hill the decision was made not to venture any further in the Geowifes Prado as it was just starting to rain. Mr H_3 made the trek down to GZ where a search started and while he was walking around in circles listening to all the Kangaroos crashing through the scrub the cache was found right in front of his nose so with the log signed we moved onto the next one. Thanks krankitkiwi for the cache
Another terrific cache. Log was a bit wet so let it dry in the wind for a little while. The drive in is so much fun.

Thanks for the info, this is the 3rd time the 'O' rings have gone missing. I know about it and I know they are easy lost. I'm currently fixing this problem. Thanks

With the promise of another wonderful day weather wise we headed westward for a day of caching with Ian & Penny. A few memories were shared and the place names were all familiar, as in a former life HP lived in the area. The third of the T4 for us! 4x4 No! Increased heartrate yes - as we walked to & from GZ and added our names to the log. Log was damp.
NOTE TO CO: Log container needs O ring to make it water tight.
TNLN .. . . . SL . . Thanks to krankitkiwi for the hunt.

This was our 14th cache find in a caching run of 16 Finds & 0 DNFs today.
[Blue]
The sun was shining today, and it was definitely too good to waste doing some tasks around the caravan, so we spent a very pleasurable day 'caching with Phetlern.
We have been caching now for over ten years and it is really sad to note the trend of placing small caches without swaps is increasing, especially in a spots such as this - where a larger container could have been placed. We think a 3.5/4 Cache should have a worthwhile reward at the end of the quest. [:(!]
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent. (We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks krankitkiwi for the hunt today.

Thank for the cache.

Two 4WD's, four geocachers, one wife, lots of enthusiasm, good weather, dry tracks and we were off to the Otways for the krankitkiwi caches (plus others).
Radio communication between the vehicles helped with the navigation and soon we were at the closest possible location to enable a walk to the cache without the potential of damaging or snagging up a vehicle.
A very steep wander/slide down the hill and into the bush to discover a well camo'd cache.
This cache was in an amazing pristine forest area but 30 metres away it was a scene of mass destruction - I guess we all want our newspapers and homes, but at what cost.
Then a trying climb back up the steep gradient. Is this what is in store for us with the other one?
Thanks very much to krankitkiwi for this series of geographically and topographically challenging caches. A favourite here but for the whole series.

Suscoe's 4th find in the company of ozbob, bushfire and buckleysbabe this morning as we headed down to sort out these caches in the Lardner's track area.
Cross country through the recently harvested area and then a slip and slide descent down along a sandy track. Lots of wallaby and roo tracks here from last night.
The cache was spotted and signed.
Ahhhhh the climb back up awaited us and we enjoyed it with great gusto!
Thanks to krankitkiwi for a wonderful caching experience.

My fifth find for the day, out grabbing caches in the Otways with ozbob, suscoe and Bushfire. Having found another cache nearby, we headed across to this one through the rather blighted landscape and once again found ourselves at the top of a rather steep descent. Yes, you would definitely need hubs locked in for that drive , however we suspected it could also result in a summersault (which is never a good thing in a 4WD), so it was time for another walk/slide/scramble. Down we went and found ourselves on the little track (as described) which made life pleasantly easy.
In we went and there it was just sitting there waiting for us to arrive and claim the find. We signed the log, popped it all back and off we went for the next great ascent ! Phew! Did I say I needed the exercise??
Thanks krankitkiwi

We have been planning this trip for a while but it was intensified as the weather could close in at any time and that would make finding these caches that much more difficult. We had ozbob, suscoe (navigator), and BuckleysBabe as co-pilot.
We attacked with two Pajero’s neither of which had winches but we did have a lot of recovery gear just in case. Equipped with two radio’s anybody listening to Bald Headed Man 1 to Bald Headed Man 2 would think we had lost the plot but there were lots of great comments flying through the air.
After leaving Gellibrand we ventured along Lardners Track and eventually arrived at the top of another massive gully that we decided was outside our capabilities and equipment as we are still running ordinary road tyres but that will change once they are worn out.
Again we attacked this gully with great gusto as it was easy slipping and sliding on the way down where the container was soon spotted, signed and the hard slog back to the top and our trusty vehicles.
The ageing bushfire (well I am at least 10 years older than most of these guys) as usual was the last to struggle back up that hill which would take some doing after rain. No wonder this area draws the well-equipped 4x4 fraternity to test out their skills.
Thanks again to krankitkiwi for placing these challenging caches and a favourite point not just for this guy but the series, well done.

Well we got to the top off this one mrs ogrebeast said i am not going down there .so she got out and off i went got to Gz and found cache and S/L and replaced it and then it was time to head up the other side this took a couple off goes had to get the momentum up for this quite sandy track finally got up and waited for the other half to walk it TFTC
4WDing around the Otways seemed like the perfect way to spend Australia Day this year, collecting a few caches as we went was just icing on the cake. It was a warm day but in our air conditioned Amarok, surrounded by the beauty of the area, we had a wonderful day.
The name of this set of four caches drew us like flies to ...., and we were not disappointed. Such a convenient horseshoe of tracks off, and then back to, the main track was a perfect little deviation for us. In the dry heat, there was no sign of mud but somebody had been badly stuck on the sand hill before us leaving it in a bad way. We got through it but at least partly filled in the two foot hole that was making the route impassable and which almost certainly would have led to a chicken trail being created.
The rest of the tracks were just plain fun. We loved the cache camo and found them without too much adieu, although we used the hint on a couple. We signed the little logs and were in our way in no time.
Thank you so much for placing these caches krankitkiwi. Without word of mouth, it is extremely time consuming to find tracks like these which give you a challenge but aren't going to swallow the forby. These four caches epitomize what we believe is the true value of geocaching. Well done!!

Again wimped it and walked. Heck I guess I need the exercise. Thought I'd grab this while camping at nearby Dando's. Log signed & replaced. TFTC & smiley face
The date "11-12-13" should have some smilies and was planning to grab them in Warrnambool. However, some new caches around Gellibrand and also possibly being muggle free meant a change of plans. Being on our own and without a winch, we chose to walk the final bit.
We are sure that many cachers will enjoy the challenging drive right to the GZ and back out.
