Well today we gave this one a red hot go. There were better cachers than us that hadn’t found this one so we came prepared.
Walked the plank numerous times and hunted everywhere, even got out the magnetic stick in the hope it might catch something thinking that this cache may be the same as all the others.
After our final cache and seeing how brittle the cord was on that one, l was convinced this one had now relocated to the forest floor. Still no joy though.
Looking forward to redoing this one when the CO gets a chance to go some checking for us diehards.

Out for a day of 4WD caching fun with Geoturtle37 and dazzpete. We watched four trail bikes struggling to make it up the hill on the other side of this cache and one look at the track told us we were in for another walk. Bummer. We spent far too long searching for this one but had to call it eventually. There is a lot of fallen timber at gz making it very difficult as well.

02-Jan-18
The last cache in the little clump of higher D/T combos and our first DNF for the day. Unfortunately there is just too many fallen logs now to be able to make a find; we gave it a red hot go with four sets of eyes but in the ned we had to walk away empty handed. Sad

With a few days off from work, the plan was to get the geo wheels a little dirty on some tracks off the main roads. I was packed with plenty of fluids, the geo toolkit, the PLB, GPSr packed with geocaches and plenty of snacks to get me through. I really enjoyed this geo adventure, plenty of new sites found over the journey. Well the days journey was coming to an end. This was the end goal. This road was crazy once again. I think you would have everything in your tyres in this area. Cache took a a while to find in here. The clue was of no help to me today. Cache log was once again wet and the string was very brittle. Replaced as found.

**Thanks for placing this trad cache for us to find H_3**
**Cache container ok, log wet**
**Took nothing, Left nothing**

After reading the last 2 logs I wasn't very bullish about my chances, but as luck would have it I walked the right plank and fortunately found it quite quickly.
Still a bit of light left - perhaps I can still find the other 3 nearby!
Thanks krankikiwi/H_3.

Well the GPS had us running around some interesting off road tracks which became somewhat demanding until we worked out an easier way towards GZ. Once parked it was a short hike down the hill. However Undermind commented that you would not want to be doing this in the wet. After battling our way into GZ finding the clever hide became the issue. After just about going nuts we found the obvious micro but believe a tree may have falling making it more difficult. We tried to carefully reposition it but we were concerned about the strength of the attaching device. Something the CO may need to look at! There is also a warning that Undermind will no doubt inform you about. TFTC

Typical KKK bush hide - difficult in so many ways! Yes, Sam and I had so much fun 4WD from the Gravel Pit rd end but gave up with still 700m to go after encountering too many spots which would require some winch action. So back to the Lardner Track and try another direction. Then the walk to GZ seemed the prudent approach. But as Sam mentioned the prize was so elusive and only found in its crafty camo by chance (as we were giving up). I felt that the site had been compromised by a recently fallen branch across the original spot. And THEN as I was replacing the container, the bottom section fell from our elevated position into the mass of scrub below!!

Black camo in all that bracken, sword grass, fungi, leaf litter and with masses of broken tree on top! Having previously nearly lost an eye to a protruding piece of branch, this certainly lost any favourite points on this cache. But we persevered and spent 20 minutes sifting all the vegetation away until we finally found the missing piece and could reassemble the cache. (So, our advice is to be very careful with all the bits at this GZ.)

The attaching material for this cache seems to be deteriorating because it broke several times as we placed it at waist height for the next adventurous cacher (there was not chance of replicating the 'higher' clue). So if you cannot locate it, the weathering may have sent it to the bottom where you will never find it.

Good luck.
PS. As this one took so long, we had no time to go to the others nearby.

What better way to spend the day with geoDog out caching in the 4WD. Perfect weather to have a good go at caking not just the 4WD in mud but the dog too.

Fantastic cache spots by the way, Ive enjoyed collecting smileys for a change. And what better way to anoy the caching owner than to put the same description on every cache... Thanks to H_3

Found It......Found this one on Easter Monday while doing some cache maintenance on one of ours, After pulling up at the top of the hill and deciding not to venture any further in the Geowifes Prado as it was just starting to rain Mr H_3 made the trek down to GZ where a search started but after a while he had to revert to the hint and after doing as it said (on the right one) the cache was right in front of his nose so with the log signed we moved onto the next one. Thanks krankitkiwi for the cache

Terrific cache. Had to challenge my balancing skills, but with a long walking stick I felt more secure. That was until geodog started pushing me out of the way cause I was going to slow! Should have made her run up the hill when we drove out! Thanks for these caches. Another fav point from the EvilQueen.

Found on a beautiful sunny Friday out caching with Chris (Tritonz).

I would give this whole series a fave if I had enbough fave points on me.

Great fun- got out safely and the Triton performed well- what a beast!

Not too muddy however had to give the creek a miss as they was just too risky.

Fun day- thanks for bringing us here.

Thanks for the info, this is the 3rd time the 'O' rings have gone missing. I know about it and I know they are easy lost. I'm currently fixing this problem. Thanks

With the promise of another wonderful day weather wise we headed westward for a day of caching with Ian & Penny. A few memories were shared and the place names were all familiar, as in a former life HP lived in the area. The third of the T4 for us! 4x4 No! Increased heartrate yes - as we walked to & from GZ and added our names to the log. Satellites today had our GZ 8m west north west of where we found the cache.

NOTE TO CO: Log container needs O ring to make it water tight.

TNLN .. . . . SL . . Thanks to krankitkiwi for the hunt.

This was our 13th cache find in a caching run of 16 Finds & 0 DNFs today.
[Blue]
The sun was shining today, and it was definitely too good to waste doing some tasks around the caravan, so we spent a very pleasurable day 'caching with Phetlern.
We have been caching now for over ten years and it is really sad to note the trend of placing small caches without swaps is increasing, especially in a spots such as this - where a larger container could have been placed. We think a 4/4 Cache should have a worthwhile reward at the end of the quest. [:(!]
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Fair. (We found the cache around 8m SE from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks krankitkiwi for the hunt today.

yeah...well.....good thing we had mud grips on.
Slither down to the cache......walk the log and sign.
Then...the big test of those tires getting out the other side. we soon had tires full of mud....and the car completely splattered. Now, that was fun....but who's gonna do the washing.
Thanks heaps to taxi driver and co-driver for getting us here.

Having fun in the wet doing Maintenance check in the 4WD!

14-Mar-14
Two 4WD's, four geocachers, one wife, lots of enthusiasm, good weather, dry tracks and we were off to the Otways for the krankitkiwi caches (plus others).
Radio communication between the vehicles helped with the navigation and soon we were at the closest possible location to enable a walk to the cache without the potential of damaging or snagging up a vehicle. A very steep wander/slide down the hill to discover a well camo'd cache along a fallen log. Then a trying climb back up the steep gradient. Many thanks to Bushfire, suscoe and Buckleysbabe for their company and assistance along the wayward route to discover these four difficult caches.
Thanks very much to krankitkiwi for this series of geographically and topographically challenging caches.

Suscoe's 3rd find in the company of ozbob, bushfire and buckleysbabe this morning as we headed down to sort out these caches in the Lardner's track area.
After a nice drive around to this spot including passing the local farmer who was shifting a tree branch we found our way in here and again pulled up less than 200 metres from GZ and it was decided that as it was such a delightful morning we would enjoy a stroll in the bush.
We noted that the walk back would be fun but as we were on holidays who cares!
Just on the other side the clearer ground looked sad.
As today became a shared search and rescue for caches it was soon located and the log signing took place.
Another splendid leg stretch to climb / walk back up.
Thanks to krankitkiwi for a wonderful caching experience.

My fourth find for the day in the company of suscoe, Bushfire and ozbob. Having made a couple of finds without either getting muddy tyres or needing to lift or winch, we arrived at the top of the track and peered down....hmmm...looks like time for another walk and I still needed the exercise so down we went. We looked in, under, around and along before once again the prize was spotted.
The log was signed and it was back to the track and up, up, up once again.
Were we beginning to detect a pattern here? Track=steep. Hide=down. Hmmm....
However, the sun was still shining although the scenery here is a stark contrast in some places.
Thanks krankitkiwi Big Grin!

We have been planning this trip for a while but it was intensified as the weather could close in at any time and that would make finding these caches that much more difficult. We had ozbob, suscoe (navigator), and BuckleysBabe as co-pilot.

We attacked with two Pajero’s neither of which had winches but we did have a lot of recovery gear just in case. Equipped with two radio’s anybody listening to Bald Headed Man 1 to Bald Headed Man 2 would think we had lost the plot but there were lots of great comments flying through the air.

After leaving Gellibrand we ventured along Lardners Track and eventually arrived at the top of the third massive gully and once again we decided it was outside our capabilities and equipment as we are still running ordinary road tyres but that will change once they are worn out.

We attacked this gully with great gusto as it was easy slipping and sliding on the way down where the container was soon spotted by the ageing bushfire who did the recovery and signing, then as with all these caches the hardest part is the return to the top and our trusty vehicles.

At the bottom of this gully there is a fallen tree that has fallen across the track if you decide to venture down and up the other side I think with a bit of care and and a high clearance you could get over or maybe drag it out of the way.

Once again the ageing bushfire was the last to struggle back up that mountain which would take some doing after rain. B/Babe being the youngest and fittest was first in all these return climbs closely followed by ozbob. No wonder this area draws the well-equipped 4x4 fraternity to test out their skills.

4WDing around the Otways seemed like the perfect way to spend Australia Day this year, collecting a few caches as we went was just icing on the cake. It was a warm day but in our air conditioned Amarok, surrounded by the beauty of the area, we had a wonderful day.

The name of this set of four caches drew us like flies to ...., and we were not disappointed. Such a convenient horseshoe of tracks off, and then back to, the main track was a perfect little deviation for us. In the dry heat, there was no sign of mud but somebody had been badly stuck on the sand hill before us leaving it in a bad way. We got through it but at least partly filled in the two foot hole that was making the route impassable and which almost certainly would have led to a chicken trail being created.

The rest of the tracks were just plain fun. We loved the cache camo and found them without too much adieu, although we used the hint on a couple. We signed the little logs and were in our way in no time.

Thank you so much for placing these caches krankitkiwi. Without word of mouth, it is extremely time consuming to find tracks like these which give you a challenge but aren't going to swallow the forby. These four caches epitomize what we believe is the true value of geocaching. Well done!!

The date "11-12-13" should have some smilies and was planning to grab them in Warrnambool. However, some new caches around Gellibrand and also possibly being muggle free meant a change of plans. Being on our own and without a winch, we chose to walk the final bit.
We are sure that many cachers will enjoy the challenging drive right to the GZ and back out.

No entries on log so claim FTF
