On a sunny day off, it was decided its time to hunt out these four caches. We never intended to 4WD in but to walk in. And after seeing the ruts l’m glad we did.
This was the first cache for the day and we drove to within 200m before hiking it. Used the hint to find the cache as the gps was a bit skittish. Lovely little creek running through here which would most likely be why the ruts are so huge. It also looked like someone had built a little hut and taken refuge here. Strange place to look for shelter.
Thanks for bringing us here it was great fun driving the tracks in, walking to gz and finally finding the cache. Log was bit wet so l think l just wrote TheRobb and that was it.

These were tough little caches but with the dt ratings we expected that. A nice afternoon with McLookers and BeckNMonts and we drove as close as we dared at each cache.
Beck did a great job getting us here
saw plenty of stuff that I wouldn't winch from in here so it was a long process of elimination!!
Thanks Krankitkiwi

Today we did not need a lif or a winch. We spent a lot of time looking around but once we spied the correct spot after heeding the hint, we had the cache in hand, the log was signed and then replaced. Thanks H_3, I enjoyed the adventure with beckNmonts and feathertop today.
I headed out with McLookers & Feathertop today, with this series of caches in mind. We had a great time, and the tracks were nice and dry for us. A slightly cooler day would have been nice, but we can’t have everything. Nice hides, although we did find one that had fallen off the tree. I placed it at the base of the tree, as I tried to tie it back to where it came from, but the line kept breaking. Great series! TFTC H_3
Out for a day of 4WD caching fun with Geoturtle37 and dazzpete. Our third stop in this group of caches. We have the lift and the winch, but it would take an off road beast or a fair bit of shoveling to keep the shiny stuff off the side of the trench on this one. After walking to gz this one took quite a while to find, but find it we did. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.
Unfortunately, we couldn't drive all the way to this one either. We all took a stroll and looked and looked and looked some more. Eventually, we came up with the goods. This log was also extremely wet but we were just able to leave our mark. A walk back up to the car and on to the next one. Thanks for showing us this area. Beautiful.
We've got lift (factory air suspension) and a winch; what we don't have is the wheels and tyres to give us clearance through the ruts close to GZ. We drove to within 140m of GZ and made the rest of the way in on foot. A long search was then had before we finally made the find.

With a few days off from work, the plan was to get the geo wheels a little dirty on some tracks off the main roads. I was packed with plenty of fluids, the geo toolkit, the PLB, GPSr packed with geocaches and plenty of snacks to get me through. I really enjoyed this geo adventure, plenty of new sites found over the journey. Well the days journey was coming to an end. This was the end goal. And yes, I think almost everyone would need both Lift or a Winch in here. The cache was not an easy find. I looked at a lot of other locations as the GPSr had me there. I wasn't expecting the cache to be found where I did. Log was wet. Replaced as found.
**Thanks for placing this trad cache for us to find H_3**
**Cache container ok, log very wet**
**Took nothing, Left nothing**

Finally - success today after a DNF 2 days ago.
Came back in daylight this time, and after 20 minutes of searching and by reading previous logs I found it. I had looked around here the other evening, but I had no chance of finding this one in the dark.
No leeches this time!
Thanks, H_3.

Got no lift. Got no winch. Got no light. Got no cache. Got some leeches...

What better way to spend the day with geoDog out caching in the 4WD. Perfect weather to have a good go at caking not just the 4WD in mud but the dog too.
Fantastic cache spots by the way, Ive enjoyed collecting smileys for a change. And what better way to anoy the caching owner than to put the same description on every cache... Thanks to H_3

Found It......Found this one on Easter Monday while doing some cache maintenance on one of ours, After pulling up at the top of the hill and deciding not to venture any further in the Geowifes Prado as it was just starting to rain Mr H_3 made the trek down to GZ where a search started but after a while he had to revert to the hint the right tree was located and the cache was in his hand so with the log signed we moved onto the next one. Thanks krankitkiwi for the cache
The ruts were super deep, but our beastie made it through without a hitch despite my geohubby stopping for a photo op in the middle. He wanted video, but the EvilQueen said no. These are the best series of caches I've seen in awhile Thanks for putting them here.
Found on a beautiful sunny Friday out caching with Chris (Tritonz).
Luckily it wasn't too muddy however we did need the winch here as got far too sandy!
Awesome cache adventure.

Thanks for the info, this is the 3rd time the 'O' rings have gone missing. I know about it and I know they are easy lost. I'm currently fixing this problem. Thanks

With the promise of another wonderful day weather wise we headed westward for a day of caching with Ian & Penny. A few memories were shared and the place names were all familiar, as in a former life H-P lived in the area. The second of the off roads for us! 4x4 No! Increased heartrate yes - as we walked to & from GZ and added our names to the log. Satellites today had our GZ 6m east of where we found the cache.
NOTE TO CO: Log container needs O ring to make it water tight.

This was our 12th cache find in a caching run of 16 Finds & 0 DNFs today.

The sun was shining today, and it was definitely too good to waste doing some tasks around the caravan, so we spent a very pleasurable day 'caching with Phetlern.
We have been caching now for over ten years and it is really sad to note the trend of placing small caches without swaps is increasing, especially in a spots such as this - where a larger container could have been placed. We think a 3.5/4 Cache should have a worthwhile reward at the end of the quest. [:(!]
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent. (We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Nothing.
Thanks krankitkiwi for the hunt today.

Let the fun begin.
Rain over night was going to make for an interesting drive.
Taxi driver had the appropriate vehicle with suitable feet......although I was starting to wonder if a tow may be needed up the hill after the cache....but the car delivered the goods.
First of 4 cunning hides...this easily spotted.
Nice one.
Thanks to kiwikrankit and side kick for the cache.

Two 4WD's, four geocachers, one wife, lots of enthusiasm, good weather, dry tracks and we were off to the Otways for the krankitkiwi caches (plus others).
Radio communication between the vehicles helped with the navigation and soon we were at the closest possible location to enable a walk to the cache without the potential of damaging or snagging up a vehicle. A very steep wander/slide down the hill to discover a well camo'd cache. Then a trying climb back up the steep gradient. Is this what is in store for us with the other two?
Thanks very much to krankitkiwi for this series of geographically and topographically challenging caches.

Suscoe's second find in the company of ozbob, bushfire and buckleysbabe this morning as we headed down to sort out these caches in the Lardner's track area.
After sorting out Muddy Tyres we headed in here and pulled up with a short walk to GZ and it was decided that as it was such a delightful morning we would enjoy a stroll in the bush.
A delightful stroll brought us to the hiding location and soo the cache was spotted by the not so agin one and the log signing took place.
Back on the track for the walk up to the vehicles.
Thanks to krankitkiwi for another wonderful caching experience.
The bush in here is splendid and a lovely cool morning made it so pleasant.

My third find for the day in the company of Bushfire, ozbob and suscoe on a trip to tidy up little green boxes in this part of the Otways. Having survived without getting muddy tyres, we once again contemplated the terrain and once again decided we'd like a stroll on this beautiful, mild, sunny day. So we did. Down to GZ where once again various GPS devices had different opinions as to where we needed to be. We scrounged around until a quiet voice suggested we might not be looking in quite the right place...oh!
So the log was signed and we retreated back up to the geovehicles to plan the next stage of our assault.
Thanks krankitkiwi !

We have been planning this trip for a while but it was intensified as the weather could close in at any time and that would make finding these caches that much more difficult. We had ozbob, suscoe (navigator), and BuckleysBabe as co-pilot.
We attacked with two Pajero’s neither of which had winches but we did have a lot of recovery gear just in case. Equipped with two radio’s anybody listening to Bald Headed Man 1 to Bald Headed Man 2 would think we had lost the plot but there were lots of great comments flying through the air.
After leaving Gellibrand we ventured along Lardners Track, found the cache at Muddy Tyres and eventually arrived at the top of another massive gully that we decided was outside our capabilities and equipment as we are still running ordinary road tyres but that will change once they are worn out.
We attacked this gully with great gusto as well and with similar terrain we ventured down again slipping and sliding on the way down where the container was soon spotted, signed and the hard slog back to the top and our trusty vehicles.
The ageing bushfire was again the last to struggle back up that mountain which would take some doing after rain. No wonder this area draws the well-equipped 4x4 fraternity to test out their skills.
Big thanks to krankitkiwi for placing the second find for me today.

decided to do a bit of 4WDing and caching today around the Otways . took a little while to find this one but finally we had it in hand hide was not what we expected.
Thanks for bringing us here krankitkiwi

4WDing around the Otways seemed like the perfect way to spend Australia Day this year, collecting a few caches as we went was just icing on the cake. It was a warm day but in our air conditioned Amarok, surrounded by the beauty of the area, we had a wonderful day.
The name of this set of four caches drew us like flies to ...., and we were not disappointed. Such a convenient horseshoe of tracks off, and then back to, the main track was a perfect little deviation for us. In the dry heat, there was no sign of mud but somebody had been badly stuck on the sand hill before us leaving it in a bad way. We got through it but at least partly filled in the two foot hole that was making the route impassable and which almost certainly would have led to a chicken trail being created.
The rest of the tracks were just plain fun. We loved the cache camo and found them without too much adieu, although we used the hint on a couple. We signed the little logs and were in our way in no time.
Thank you so much for placing these caches krankitkiwi. Without word of mouth, it is extremely time consuming to find tracks like these which give you a challenge but aren't going to swallow the forby. These four caches epitomize what we believe is the true value of geocaching. Well done!!

Drove all the way down but no way PeanutHugger 'n I were going thru that. Walked the last 40m or so and had the log in no time. Thought we'd grab a couple of caches while camping at nearby Dando's. Log signed & replaced. TFTC & smiley face

The date "11-12-13" should have some smilies and was planning to grab them in Warrnambool. However, some new caches around Gellibrand and also possibly being muggle free meant a change of plans. Being on our own and without a winch, we chose to walk the final bit.
We are sure that many cachers will enjoy the challenging drive right to the GZ and back out.
