Nice day today, so found some caches around westleigh. This one took quite a while, but I persevered and found it higher up the hill than expecting. SL. Plastic bag is torn.TFTC
Gday Mr MR, unfortunately I wasnt able to find your cache today (Thursday 4/4/2024). Thanks for the hunt anyway! No luck here today. Also picked up half a dozen leeches here, including a big sucker that has caused me to bleed profusely. Thankfully there was a shopping centre nearby to buy some supplies to clean myself up.
2nd visit - turning a frown into a smile.. EASY, just trust the gps as you approach. SL, Replaced as foundTFTC Mr MR.
Yep it’s still there and it’s survived the fires. Systematic search did the trick today. TFTC
Out caching today before the CCC event and this adventure lab through here has been annoying me as I haven’t finished it. Today I put in the effort to finish and collect the traditionals along the way.

Spent an hour poking into nooks and crannies.
GPS points to same spot from different nearby locations; but I don't see the cache

I was nearby so took the opportunity to check on the cache. All is well; the container is dry and in good order and there is still space on the log sheet. While I was at GZ, the GPS wandered from less than a metre to in excess of five, so it's still a challenging spot.
Couldn’t find it hasn’t been found in ages so I’m assuming gone this needs work
Found this one while out caching today. Coords a little out, but widened search area and located the container.

Plenty of possible hiding spots. Looked around for about 20 minutes but came up with nothing. We’ll come back after someone else finds it.
I’ve had a long hiatus from caching due to a fight with bowel cancer. After treatment and surgery I’m doing well.
I’m now ready to get out and find some more caches.
I’m working in the area and saw this cache nearby that hadn’t been found in 5 months.
As i neared GZ I was faced with many possible hiding spots and with my geosenses very rusty and a shifting GPS fix this took a little bit of searching.
I finally found the prize in a spot where I wasn’t expecting.
( Hmm nice size cache I may need to return and drop off a trackable)

Today we headed up to Thornleigh to visit an EarthCache for International EarthCache Day and to do the new Adventure Lab in the same location. Also collected a previously solved puzzle cache and revisited a couple of DNF’s from way back in 2016, then finished the day with a couple of Traditional caches at Turramurra. This was the 5th of 12 finds for the day.
Stopped off at this one after completing Stage 2 of the nearby Adventure Lab. It has been nearly 4 years since I DNFed this one, and we were keen to turn the sad blue face to a happy yellow one on our geomap.
Arrived at a blackened GZ, resulting from recent RFS Hazard Reduction burnoffs, and it was strangely a different GZ than I had searched on my previous visit. Seems the GPSr was having trouble last time, with the "other" GZ some 20 metres away, but this time it took us straight to the hide for a nice quick find. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. TFTC Mr MR.

In response to recent DNFs I can happily report that the cache is still in place, unaffected by the recent burn-offs. I checked it the day after the conflagration.
Tried to find this one with Roomar_S but think it may have been burnt or buried under a mountain of ash thanks to the recent backburning.
I came through while looking for a nearby AL. The back burning last weekend has completely cleared out the surrounds. I spent a whole poking under every low nook I could find in the area, but alas, no luck.
Out for a cache run with phlphotos today and we stopped off for this one whilst we were completing the nearby Adventure Lab. A quick find was made at GZ. With the cache in hand we signed the log before replacing as found. Both the log and cache container are in good condition. Thanks for the cache Mr MR.

After the recent rain, the way to gz was swampy and there's been so much growth since this cache was placed, so we did get lots of pricks from thorns, but still a good find for my first international Geocaching day
Found with HardlyNoobish and my friend that I am naming MuggleMiles, we bush bashed our way there and listened to story's of how he once had Nerf wars with his brother. Made the find, signed the log and filled in January 2014 for my jasmer
I solved the puzzle and looked for this cache 3 years ago with no luck but only returned today. The GPS performed much better this time and dropped me right on the cache which was quite dry and soon logged. The chairs which used to be not far away seem to be gone, at least for now. Thanks Mr MR for a good puzzle and final cache location, great to turn this one into a smilie.
Well this one was fun. I thought it might be possible to get into this one from the Great North Walk, which we know this part of very well. This, as Einstein would say, was absurd. Eventually we actually did what the description said, and had the cache in no time after a bit of bashing about.

After dnfing on a nearby cache i decided to come over here and give this cache a go.
The weather this afternoon was perfect for caching and i soon found my way into the GZ.
My initial search led to nothing so after 15 mins i resorted to reading some of the previous comments. While there was no concrete clues they did help me take my blinkers off and soon after i had the cache in hand.
The container is in good condition and the log is dry.
Thanks.

After doing some geocaching in Kellyville Ridge I drove to Hornsby for my weekly swim. I had some time to spare so I took a short detour into Westleigh to find this cache.
I enjoyed the short walk into the bush and inspecting the many possible hiding places. The cache was luckily found quite fast. I then realised I did not bring a pen so a photo log instead.

What a great hide. It had me going around circles for ages. I love bush hides that are a bit challenging (except when you've hiked hours to get there), but this one's quick to access so there's less to stress about. I know I tend say something was in the last place I looked (usually for the obvious reason) but in fact this was in a place I'd looked at several times before testing the solid looking camo. TFTC Mr MR.
OCW The_Jugheads on a sunny winters morning, we thought we’d have a go at this strip, despite a string of DNFs and it laying unfound for a year AND are fact that it has now outstayed its 5 year allowance from National Parks..
At GZ, phone coordinates were all over the place, but we could tell the general area, and the hint confirmed we were on the right track. After about 10 minutes of searching I was ready to start digging through mulch, but spotted something a little out of place that moved easily when I grabbed it and slid out to reveal the container!
No digging required, and the cache is in surprisingly excellent condition, but don’t pay the hint too much attention, it may lead you in the wrong direction.
Thanks for the cache and bringing us to a beautiful patch of bush

What a challenging cache! Chasing numbers today, I’ve concentrated on a small pocket of caches in this area. The previous DNFs didn’t deter me here. With most of the logs suggesting the coords were out, I thought I’d give it a go anyway. I got down to 0-2 meters at GZ and the cache was about three meters from that point. Pretty good for an iPhone and the Cachly app. At GZ, I first took stock of the area and sussed out the rocks before spotting the one that probably harboured the cache. Investigating that further and not making a find, I referred to the hint and realised where I’d gone wrong. I took a step back, looked lower and with a stick, poked the camo and... CIH! With eight months of unloved to boot! TFTC!
With many places to look and a less than accurate reading it took me a while to find this one. I did get there, just as I was planning to give up. Thanks
I should have known better today, but made my damp way to GZ with the rain increasing. Searching was difficult as the prolonged rain has built up masses of leaves and branches all over the site and the GPS gave me a zero reading in several locations on this cloudy day. I yielded as the rain started to pelt down then spent a while at the car flicking off all the leeches. I will return one sunny day.
Tftc, another quick cache before it got too hot. Headed in with Azzepious and our muggle friend Skonos (who has found quite a few caches with us, we will get him an account soon).
We split up and checked all the clue related areas around GZ. Luckily Azzepious double checked where I had already looked, finding the cache behind some camo I missed.
Azzepious dropped off a geocoin and retreated to the safety of my airconditioning for some board gaming.

MrSmith00 and I dragged Skonos (who's a muggle, but fairly cooperative) out for a quick cache before our board gaming day. MrSmith00 and Skonos strode towards the gz as I prepared a suitable stick for searching and clearing spider webs.
By the time I caught them up, they'd already done a bit of searching, so I started double checking where they'd already been. I got to gloat a bit as I soon had cih after checking out a spot they'd already checked.
We signed the log (including Skonos) and I dropped off a trackable.

Well that wasn't easy. Parked, and took the prescribed route in, but then hunted around for 25 minutes.
I had placed my back pack at the first 'GZ', but as I moved around so did the GZ.
Found @ 1725, GAFF2, about 3 m N of last GZ. Cache container seemed a little fragile, but still holding up.
Think I left a Correct Site Marker (surgical marking pen).

Stopped off on my way back home, after visiting the Amateur Radio NSW (HAM Radio) bi-monthly Trash & Treasure sale at Quarry Road Dural, to have a look for this one. Looked around for a short while but failed to find the cache. I now see that the coords may be a bit out, so I will have another go next time I'm out that way.
This cache was selected to be our cache of the day, to keep the current streak up. Parked as suggested on Elouera Road, and followed the track in to the bush. Bush bashed the last bit to GZ, where I searched a number of possible locations. The GPSr took a few minutes to settle down, probably due to the trees and the weather, but once done I found the cache 1 metre from where the machine directed me.
Signed the log and replaced, and headed back home.

Visted with the CO for a cache check after recent DNFs and took the opportunity to sign the log. The cache is just where it should be and in good order.
I was in the area and noticed that the CO had just done a check, so I thought I'd have a look. Couldn't get the iphone to less than 5m, & I looked in a lot of spots, but no luck today. (Still I caught a few pokemon on the way back to the car )
Had a good look in all the little nooks,no success. kids playing nearby in the bush may suggest it has been muggled...
We drove down from the Central coast to find some caches in the area. We were a bit surprised by the office chairs and rubbish in the area . After looking in a lot of nooks and cranny's the cache was spotted. Thanks for the cache MrMR tnln sl

I have absolutely no idea where this is!! Spent over an hour examining every nook and cranny, but obviously not the right one:)

I have found several caches in this area so I'm not sure how this one fell off the radar. Parked in a familiar street and made the short trek past the comfy chairs to GZ. The iPhone GPS had me looking in the wrong place but I like exploring and let my GeoCaching senses take over. Surprisingly I found the well hidden cache quickly but it could easily have been missed. I dropped by to perform a cache check and rescue the TB but the cache was not in its nook. I had a good look around in case it had been returned to the wrong spot but was unable to locate it.
I find it hard to believe, given its location, but it looks like it's been muggled. An unfortunate consequence of this is that the TB is now missing too.
I will see if YGAT, who provided the original container, has a similar one I can replace it with so I can get it back online soon.

They say third time lucky. don't they? The hard part is not where it is but all the places it could be but isn't. In the end the co-ords were good but they do bounce around a bit here. My GPSr only said 5m south which is well within the margins of accuracy.

I performed a cache check today. It is safe it its nook, dry and in good order. The “track” is becoming very overgrown so access is a little more difficult and, for the first time, I found a few bongs lying around, but not near GZ. I cleaned them up but left the plastic chair so if you need to, take a load off .
Came here a second time, the last time was 8 months ago. Looked in all the crannies, but must have missed one of the nooks. Might ask for a photo clue!
Found it on a warm Sunday while out walking the dog. This one took a bit of time as I was searching on the wrong level for awhile. Was pleased to find it. Nice bush around here, shame about the bong. TFTC

Decided to head up north for a few caches this afternoon.
Managed to find all of them, including avenging a previous DNF.

First cab off the rank was this previous DNF. I'd spent ages here last time, but noted the recently upgraded clue, so thought I'd try again.
There was flowing water across the trail to GZ (managed to get one foot in it - slightly damp sock). Kept checking for leeches as a result, but none found.
At GZ the hunt took all of 2 minutes before I spotted something suss in an area I could ahve sworn I'd thoroughly scoured last time - methinks the camo wasn't quite deployed properly.
Completed signing duties and replaced. Hopefully the camo is right. Looks obvious to me now, but then I know where it is.

Difficult find. Watch out for the biting ants (we were attacked), spiders, leeches, ticks, snakes, and horse flies.
I think the main problem with this one is its size. Searchers may be expecting something larger. It is not a Micro but is quite a small Small so it fits nicely into its tight nook. I struggled to get a reliable GPS reading despite many attempts over a number of days. However, the coordinates should be more than good enough to get you very close to GZ.
I do want this to be found so I have enhanced the hint. Despite this, I have also raised the difficulty rating slightly. I may make further adjustments when I am able to get out there again with a tape measure but we’ll see how it goes.
Cheers.

Quite a few comments about the coords being out or add a better clue so people can find your cache without damaging the bushland.
I spent ages here for no result, if the coords are dodgy, could a finder add some better ones please.
Just down the road on the way out a Carpet Python was sunning itself on the road, I stopped and herded it across the road...It must have been at least 2m long.

One of two DNF's this morning. I parked, walked in and found the rocks. Then spend 25min, going up and back, around, in and out. I had my trusty torch to help, which it did, but only helped in seeing spiders and all things that like the dark. Ready some logs, but nothing gave anything away. So after my time I decided to call it a day. I'll be back.
Visiting friends nearby. I gave myself a good half hour, wandering into GZ and ate a couple of bananas. Placed the GPSr to settle whilst I ate. Started the search, amongst the dozens of possibilities. Ran out of time in the end. It wasn't the snakes or leeches though, I just didn't find it. Until next time.
I'd previously noticed this cache in an area I knew but was put off by logs about red belly black snakes and leeches
I've walked this track before with geodog. It's a great spot for bush birds and there were plenty around today.
Fortunately the weather's been cold and dry so I took a chance that this would not appeal to slithery things. For me the co-ords were a bit off but from 1m I could see some likely places to hide a cache, one of which produced a cache in good condition.

With the sun setting rapidly we set off along the track until the GPS told us to turn right and we followed a less defined trail to GZ.
Once there the GPS bounced around a bit until I spotted something that didn't look quite right, upon closer investigation we had CIH.
TNLN SL, its always nice to get a find after someone else's DNF.
TFTC in this great spot.
We noticed another cache in the vicinity but the night was too close to try for it now.

45 minutes of wandering and peering and nothing to show for it.
At the 30 minute mark I checked the hint - not particularly useful, then the photos... OK, I remember that spot.
Still no sign.
Lots of possible hides, but obviously there is another one.

Relatively quick find. By the time we got back to the car we'd also collected 6 leeches on the clothes.
Made my way over to GZ to be presented with a large array of possible hiding places matching the clue. After about 15 minutes looking at lots of spots I still didn't have the cache in hand, but noticed my shoelace had come undone. Leaning down to do it back up I spotted a leech making his way up my shoe so got him off before any damage was done and decided to retreat to the car. I will have to try again after applying lots of aerogard to the shoes and pants as that seems to discourage them. Thanks Mr MR.
This one was found at about midday in the company of the CO but without assistance, which was annoying as it took me a while. It appears to be a difficult area for a GPSr and it helps to know what you are looking for. As I donated the container, I did .
I have never been into this part of the bushland before. It was a very pleasant surprise, so peaceful, but the promised abundant birdlife was strangely absent today. It deserves a favourite though.
Thanks Mr MR.
