The perfect time to combine two hobbies, or looking at it in a different way... how to make a hike nearly twice as long The weather was windy (as usual I'm guessing) but otherwise quite nice, the company was good and by the end the legs were worn outOZGrumpy stumbled onto this oneTFTC trail mogni

The Christmas and New Years break is a special time for me to relax and collect some caches in remote locations. When KTPops and I were discussing this rare opportunity to spend time together and combine hiking trails and caching, the series of caches along the Heysen trail west of Encounter Bay were an ideal choice. Camping in the nearby campground we made use of the opportunity to complete some rarely available goals. Thanks for the cache Mogni, find #9187 at 3.42pm

A lovely walk was had today along the heysen trail, with one car either end only 13km was required from us today over 3.5 hours, a lovely walk with only requiring 1 cache to be replaced and the rest found. Beautiful view too.

Today Courtneyrose_ and I headed to Victor harbour for the CITO and to complete some of the heysen trail with Michells&Hound. A lovely day with many steps taken.

Thanks for cache

Found on a 12km walk along this section of the Heysen trail this afternoon. The sun was out, blue skies and waves crashing. A perfect day for caching. Most caches were a quick find but a few took quite a thorough search. All caches in good condition unless specified. Cheers.

Find #5054 on 5 Jan 2023.

Found on a trip south with EsromL. Our main aim was to head down to Deep Creek Conservation Park for a couple of days of camping and walking. However, we took the opportunity to grab a few caches on the way down and back as well as a few along the trails.

Thanks mogni for the cache.

Trip to MLB cancelled again due to Covid so decided to keep the holidays and have a little trip to Victor Harbor.
We could not have asked for better weather what a glorious spring day for a walk along the Heysen Trail. The surf was up the sky was blue and we could not wipe the smiles off our faces, good for the soul. A few dnfs but that didn’t spoil the day.
15000 steps later and 15 caches found. Thanks to all the CO for the super hides.

Decided to venture out the house today and walk from Waitpinga back to Kings Beach and find all my caches I hid many years ago. Prepared shockingly for this and had to use my phone as a GPS and since being a basic member again using the app was very difficult but managed to find most caches along the way. Thanks for looking after all these caches!

2 old timers out on the Heysen this morning with the intention of geocaching. We found a few, some on our outward trip & some on the way back. We also didn't find a couple but you can't win 'em all. Some took a few minutes search time & others were immediately obvious. Thanks CO for keeping ail maintained.

My current caching goals are to reduce the number of calendar days that I need both multicache and mystery caches so I can have a crack at filing the calendar for both in 2020. Cool
Today I just needed to find a multicache. Razz

It was also the Sal half of brisal5's birthday and she wanted to go for a walk along the Heysen Trail. We had done the first part of 'Kings Beach' multi cache whilst walking from the Bluff back to Kings Head in October and when I pointed out if finished somewhere up along the Heysen Trail on the Waitpinga Cliffs she didn't want to miss the walk along here.Surprised

So today we parked one car at Kings Beach Road and drove the other to Waitpinga Beach for the 11.5 km one way hike. [^] Although the temperature was only in the high twenties it felt much hotter. Twisted And the bloody flies, crikey! [:(!] We managed to make 17 finds and a DNF before it became too damn hot and the decision was made to walk past the next 11 and get out of the heat. [B)][B)] But...but...but.... [:o)] Oh well have to come back for the DNF anyway! Wink

The track finally changed from sand - to ankle breaking sandstone lose rocks! [8)] Glimpses of the ocean came into view as did more and more colloing sea breezes. Razz I was having a great day finding caches but I wondered if Sal was really enjoying her birthday walk. Another find in the pretty obvious spot. Smile

**Thanks mogni for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ** Big Grin

Great day with perfect weather. I joined Sir Spectre and mogni to walk The Heysen series and perform maintenance on all the caches along the way. We meet at the #1 end then drove around to start our walk at #22. A very nice walk with less up and down than I was expecting. Great views along the way with good company made this a very enjoyable walk. Thanks mogni for your efforts in adopting and maintaining this series.

So this was a walk along another section of the Heysen. A very cloudy day around 28 degrees or so. You could say a somewhat perfect day - perhaps a few degrees cooler and it would have been perfect. I walked up a small sweat which was evaporated by the light breeze. Coastal views spectacular. [^]Cool

Thanks to spuddymoore and **clear skies** from TeamAstro. [^] Cache the planet!

I had a wonderful time with Whitepaws9 from Victoria. It took us eight hours to walk along Waitpinga Cliff. Of course we chatted and laughed along the walk. At the end of our walk towards Kings Beach Road, we had to abandon the rest as it was getting dark. We mostly found them but some are DNF. It would be good if the hints are added. Thanks for the enjoyable walk.

Thanks spuddymoore for the cache Smile

Spent the day walking Newland Head Park grabbing the caches then picked up a few of the surrounding caches before heading back to Second Valley. My vivosmart told me that I walked 14000 steps and 11.32 km getting just the caches in Newland Head - no wonder I feel tired Smile. TFTC.

25-Jul-15
Weather changing (constantly over the course of the hike) however we appeared to have arrived at the "spooky" part of the track with the mist and rain settling in but great to see the rejuvenation.

Thanks spuddymoore for creating a wonderful series. Our party today was me with 3 hiking buddies walking the Heysen in preparation for a hiking trip in Tassie next year. I convinced the group to join me in my 'treasure hunting' adventure along this section of the trail. Many thanks for a wonderful adventure.

While staying at Adare Caravan Park we planned to do the series of geocaches along the Heysen Trail going from King Beach to Waitpinga through the Newland Head Conservation Park. We were fortunate enough that a few fellow geocachers were willing to complete the walk with us even though the forecasted temperature was 41 degrees. So with that in mind, we had a round table meeting at the pub after dinner and decided that we needed to get up at 5am to be at the start of the track at 6am. So in the predawn light we started our hike. Finding the caches along the way gave us the chance to have a break and reform as a group. The heavy cloud cover and cool breeze were welcome and contributed to keeping the heat to a manageable level. The views were distractingly wonderful and the 5 hours it took us was an absolute delight with our happy group which comprised of Shonkylogic, Moneydork, SEMIK, Uni and Medusa. This is geocaching at its best.Big GrinBig Grin Thanks to spuddymoore for placing this cache which encouraged us to do this tremendous walk.

Thanks for bringing us to such a lovely area.

I've been watching the caches build up along this section of the Hysen Trail for a while now. So today with Debandy along for the hunt we headed of along this spectacular peace of coastline in search of the elusive Cachius Hidenus. This would have to be one of the most enjoyable collection of cache i've done in a while, truly a magnificent place.
Thanks for the cache and for bringing me here!

Traveled to Victor Harbor today with a group of fellow students and teachers from school. Luckily the rain held out this morning (just) and it was a great day out. Managed to find 27 caches in total walking along the Heysen Trail, including a First to Find! Group entry in log book as “Pem Kids”. Great views all along the way too. Thanks for the cache!

22-Mar-14
Malco! and T_M walked the 17km section of Heysen Trail from Waitpinga to VH. The whole trail is approx. 1200 kms long so we've only covered 1.7% today. Beaches to rocky cliff-lines and back to beaches and houses.

Rugby team - #15. TFTC spuddymoore.

22-Mar-14
Walked this one with Tiger Muffin, who uses this section of the Heysen Trail as a training run, from Petrel Cove to Waitpinga and back. Left Waitpinga at around 10:30 and finished at 3:30. With 32 caches to find along the way adds an hour or two to the walk and only one DNF. Great weather and the views spectacular. Surf was fierce with 3 metre waves pounding the rocks at the base of the cliffs.

8 of 22 less one DNF

Thanks for the series, spuddymoore.
