#14,406. The Seagnoid, Infoferret and I spent the day doing some of the On Your Bike series, but we are also working on the A-Z and 0-9 challenge in South Australia and needed an X, so we stopped here. We were not sure what Xanthorrhoea Quadrangulata is, but we assumed it was the spiky plant at GZ. Did a fair bit of looking all around trying to avoid spikes and snakes. Finally located the cache. Log signed as GITS (GSEL, Infoferret and the Seagnoid). Thanks bructus for helping us on the way to the A-Z challenge. X caches are a bit thin on the ground so we needed this one. Nice view as well..
GSEL, Infoferret and I are heading off to do some of the On Your Bike series, but on top of that they are also working to a A-Z of Australia and needed an X, so we stopped here. No idea what Xanthorrhoea Quadrangulata is, but we assumed it would be a plant. I really should have looked at some of the leaves to see if they are four-sided, but forgot. The cache was a small challenge to find, given the dual requirements of avoiding being spiked and avoiding snakes. Luckily snakes we did not see. Spiked we did get .Log signed as GITS (GSEL, Infoferret and the Seagnoid).
4 March 2024 17:35 TFTC bructus for placing this cache, number for me. Gsel spotted but took a fair bit of finding!Signed as team GITS (GSEL, Infoferret &the Seagnoid) . Also enjoyed the view...I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past and present.
Yeah, nar, the 5 of us spent quite a lot of time looking here, but to no avail. Congratulations to those who came after and proved it can be done . Well done .
Out in the Barossa from Adelaide today, its time for a few more caches around this areaQuickly found and log stampedTFTC
Found by Mary and David at 17:25. Found after a couple of circuits of GZ. Great views, Our thanks to bructus.
Xanthorrhoea Quadrangulata... You betcha. This was real nasty one with so many hiding spots and potential snake burrows. Took a while poking and prodding with naughtybunny. We got it eventually and were sure we went over this place a couple of times. TNLN. Cheers.
Found on a caching trip to the Barossa.
I said to Chookster that someone would have to be an absolute bast**d to put it there...famous last words! I poked the exact spot and missed it completely, which is pretty standard for me. I love Xanthorreas, this is a really nice example, and lovely views as well.

*Another big geocaching trip to Australia with woolwood9.*
Our main focus was the "On Your Bike" Wherigo series but of course we couldn't resist many stops on the way plus other good trails!

HR go down! Spot on! Headed up to visit the impressive sculptures and learn some geology and then keep on going. Bingo bango! Third day in SA and out on trusty treadles aka my mtb to explore the trails and surroundings. I’ve learnt theRE are plenty of quality SA caches - plenty to pique the curiosity and anticipation of another surprise or fun cache. Happy and relieved to record no DNF’s today and on average most were located ‘relatively’ quickly. TFTC AND THE FUN and the effort to contribute to this fave game!
WHAT A VIEW!! Breathtaking
Enjoying the perfect weather to be outdoors, in the countryside, listening to some tunes, loving the amazing views and looking for caches.

Found the cache in the first place that I poked, as a black bull was staring me out. Thanks bructus for the hide.
Doing some caching around the Nuriootpa area with ilook4geo for a little while. Each found log had two more names noted on it before the cache was put back where it had been found. Thank you to bructus for putting this cache into play.
Cache hunting around the Barossa area with goingplaces2 went on today. Loved the caching around here and found a good selection for the day. Each log was signed and replaced before moving on to the next cache. This was a very quick and easy find. TFTC.
Today myself, Blackadders and S.A. Sewer Rats headed out once again for a Wednesday Wander. [^] We headed up to the Barossa Valley where we wandered about doing some labs and others caches we were passing before heading off to the Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park for a long, long walk! The Rat chalked up find number 10,000 during our travels.
Head off to the back entrance to the park I was surprised to see that there was a cache here on a road I have driven along many times. Why hadn't I stopped before. Perhaps I had just forgot to log it - who knows. I stopped today, quickly found the cache and rectified the situation.
Only one of the three goals from last year achieved. So once again trying and fill my calendar with multi-caches and complete loop 11 again this year. [^] For my third goal I will try and get my DNF numbers to single digits. That should keep me busy again this year! [:o)]
***Thanks bructus for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

Meandering thru the Barossa with the Waldos, picking up some random caches. TFTC. Logged as L&W.
I was heading up to Nuriootpa with erine14, alysse14 and allister w to attend a birthday event and as we were going so far we made it a full on caching day. I had looked at the map and had a few target caches that I would like to get, but other than that we just drove around stopping at caches we drove past. [^] We did manage to visit quite a few of the local cemeteries on our travels which is always interesting.
We had a fun day finding 33 caches and attending a very enjoyable event.
This was our last find for the day and Alysse's 2200 find so we were pretty happy with that. Nice views from up here.
Thanks for the cache bructus.

After a rest and some lunch back at my accommodation, I headed back out to find some caches south of Nurioopta. Thanks for the hide.
Mr Tardis was out for a caching day to the Barossa and surrounds. A beautiful almost-spring day with sunshine and warmish weather.
I found this one in the first place I looked - don't you just love it when that happens? Some nice views from here today.

After spending a few days in the Barossa we headed for Hahndorf before flying home on Thursday. Easy find in the misty rain but we have no idea what a Xanthorrhoea Quadranglulata is. Dropped our last TB here to continue it's travels.
Thanks for another smilie bructus.

A few caches whilst staying in the Barossa for a few days. Raclette at the Turkey Flat winery was excellent paired with a nice wine. Nice location. Tftc
Easy to find as it was out in the open, after signing the log I tucked it away a little bit.
Thanks for the cache.

We are nomads. Having left Perth WA in February 2014 we now live in our caravan and go wherever the will or caches take us.
Now visiting in Tanunda, today we set about exploring the area using Geocaching as our guide.
What a fabulous sunny day, the best we have had since we arrived on Sunday so it was indeed a pleasure to be out and about.
Seems this cache was not put back correctly at some point as log was sodden. Replaced the container and logbook to help out.

We haven't seen one of these used as a cache container before, thanks for bringing us up to this beautiful view; SL; TFTC
We appreciated the sign congratulating us having made it up to the top of Mengler's Hill, although we think driving instead riding a bicycle is probably considered cheating It took a while to locate the "container" but we definitely enjoyed the views while looking. TNLNSL TFTC
Out enjoying the sunshine.
