Up this track doing a multi cache that requires going out on a ledge. While here gathered the info required for this earth cache. Thanks for creating this one.Answers sent to CO along with pics. Pic here is of the view from up here. Was a nice start to the day.TFTEC
Up in this neck of the woods with weredunn4 & WayneAPN to find a high terrain multi close by when WayneAPN spotted this EarthCache which we then sort answers for.WayneAPN sending the answers to the CO on our behalf (weredunn4 having completed it years ago)Awesome location and amazing viewsTFTC

I went for a Cleland walk today with my son, with intentions to grab four caches and pick up a TB needed for a puzzle cache find.
After starting from the carpark we wanted to go straight to Castle Rock, but I couldn't see where the track started. There was no signage and we missed it.
We got nearly to 2nd falls and instead of back peddling, decided to take the well worn Waterfall Gully path. We then took a left at the Bilba track and then approached Castle Rock from the east and from the Wildlife Park boundary track and then the ETSA spur track.
We completely lost the path (what path!) to GZ not far from the power line and with about 140m to go. The path became obvious again with only about 20m to go. Then GZ was a great spot to take a break.
As I'm getting older, my fear of heights is getting worse! I didn't have the nerve to go close to the edge, whereas my son must have been a mountain goat in his former life.
Thanks for the Earthcache. I would have never thought of coming here otherwise.
The track down from the rock was interesting. The cache description was pretty accurate. Narrow, overgrown and I wouldn't bring young kids here.
When we got to the bottom, I can see why we missed the start. A creek crossing in the middle of the bridge/boardwalk, then hook around the southern end of the boardwalk, without signage. Point to note for next time.
Overall, we had a great 3 hour walk today, with three side detours for cache finds.

This morning FeatherWaite and I decided to go for a walk and find a few caches around Cleland. The early morning rain didn’t look too promising, but it seemed to be clearing.
On our target list was this cache and another nearby multi. Unfortunately the rocks were still a bit wet and slippery to complete the multi this morning, but we were able to gather the information required for this earthcache.
The juxtaposition of this rock and the buildings below brought back memories for me. During 1980/81 I spent many nights staying in a field hut on sub-antarctic Macquarie Island that was overshadowed by a rock a bit like this one, in much the same way as the buildings below this rock are (although it was much closer). Some years later, after heavy rain, the rock came down along with a landslide, destroying the hut. So will this rock ever roll? Quite possibly, yes. And I wouldn't like to be in those buildings down the hill when it does!
Thanks CPwanderer for an interesting earthcache.

After an early morning start under cloudy skies and a light drizzle, e.gregory1 and I headed down from the Cleland car park to the very steep final incline to the rock. Completed the research, took a few photos of the rock and views and took a serious close look at the nearby multicache. Unfortunatley the surface of the rocks had not dried out to the extent that we'd hoped leaving them still very slippery, so we abandoned our attempt (will just have to leave it for another day). Very happy to have claimed this earthcache for our efforts though! Thanks for an interesting earthcache CPwanderer!
Found with Dora the Explorer! Answers have been sent to CO. Great view from here after a pleasant walk up.
Thanks for the Earth Cache.
Thanks for the Earth Cache.
Nice walk. Completed with CDAH55 who has sent in the answers. Almost got stuck on the rock formation
After completing the nearby Dihydrogen Monoxide I did the observations and grabbed the info and submitted it to the CO.
Great views from GZ - stunning location!

Whilst completing Dihydrogen Monoxide tonight, we were close enough to this EarthCache that we made a detour to visit. And so, [@Brad&Janet](http://coord.info/PR8T99X), [@gridge98](http://coord.info/PRGKDMY), and I examined the famous rolling rock.
It's certainly a cool location with glorious views around. Questions answered, and messaged to the CO. Cheers CPwanderer.

Out and about late this afternoon when we happened to find ourselves in the vicinity of this one. To be honest from the wandering of my GPSr I was not certain which was the rolling rock. However a consensus was reached. Answered were discussed, considered and agreement decided upon. Answers submitted by Davidwazza.
If we have the wrong rock, we collected and can provide answers for the other candidates if required.

Walked up here to find the multi near by, Davidwazza decided he would complete the earth cache and will send the answers on our behalf.
An afternoon out caching by myself around Mt Osmond collecting some caches that I had solved in tassie and also saving dopey that I completed the other dy. I was later joined by Brad & Janet David wazza, the main plan of attack was to collect and have a go at finding Dihydrogen Monoxide, the success was complete and a great afternoon/evening of caching was complete.
Thanks to the cache owners for their placement

I had spotted this EC and suggested to have a bit of a walk to see the rock. An interesting path, which was not obvious to locate as it is hardly used and not even mentioned on any info board map.
First we had to find it, then we had to clear a tree and branches across it and made our way through overgrown vegetation. Spectacular view from GZ. Well worth the climb
Answers sent and permission to log received, thank you!
Many thanks CPwanderer for the earthcache, and taking us to that spot. A little bit of an adventure on the way, which we enjoyed a lot.

Saw photos of this rock and just had to check it out. Ran down from the bullock track and the waterfalls. The track up wasn't as bad as I expected. The views were superb. Thanks for the secret spot.
This rock has always fascinated me since I started hiking in Cleland. I was wondering if there was a way up to it. Well it's been twice now that I have been there and the last time I noticed this Earthcache. Being too shy to attempt an Earthcache [8)] till today, i decided to make this one my first... ever [^] I was taking many pics and marvelling about the info re: this rock mentioned in the Geocache description and became really interested . I thought... "Yeah, I want to do this one, why not". The views here are incredible as well. If you've never been here to this location, go! You won't regret it [^] Just be extremely careful as it is a long way down [:o]. Info grabbed on site between 10:30-45 on Monday, 17 April, 2017. Thanks CPWanderer for bringing me here yet again and for accepting my answers, I Loved it (Fave Point too ) TFTC
What a great cache location
Being the kind of person I am, I approached the cache from the ETSA spur track path, down a closed track. I wouldn't recommend it as it was a near vertical stream gully and the path petered out just as I had passed the rock- I was surprised to spot it through the undergrowth and had to climb back up to it. Annoyingly I did slip in the last 20m coming down that path on slimy mud, but there were lots of other much more hazardous spots! Wow, the rock is just amazing; the sun was shining warmly as I contemplated the view and then the earth cache questions. All the little muggles way below obsessing with their devices and power walking the trail...this place is amazing, can't wait to come back with my kids (up the recommended trail next time).

Visited this location while in the area with some scouty people, out to do a maintenance run on Dihydrogen Monoxide. We took a couple of photos, discussed the questions and then (over 2 months later), I finally got around to emailing the CO.
Thanks CP for the confirmation and for this great earthcache

Given permission to log this cache for a special day. Will actually beta test it backwards due to illness in the family. I would like to suggest a reason for the Rock perhaps Rolling one day. Brisal5, known for his extensive knowledge of music especially from the 80's onwards to current day will one day return to this spot. Armed with a Bose portable speaker, and bluetoothing his favourite Rock tunes to play through the speaker at a rather noisy level, Brian will be confronted with Doctor Owl and her Salvation Army Choir singing some rather alarmingly loud church hymns. The rock will be seized be a serious failure, in fact it will crack up at the wonderful rock music being offended by the Choir's offerings and it will roll down the hill, taking out the choir as it goes, will occur. Thanks CP and I owe you an Earthcache...M
Having been assured by the CO that this walk was completely flat and easily achieved (that's Owl's story and she's sticking to it!), she gathered Izwalk and made an assault on what felt at times to be a mountain. Past logs had indicated that the path might be overgrown, but they found it quite clear, apart from a fallen tree or two - one of which leapt out and brained Owl as she passed. Puffing and panting to the top, the intrepid duo found a great view. (Well, Izwalk did. Owl was too exhausted and missed it entirely.) Some photos for Izwalk's course later and they made a much faster descent to hot chocolate, fresh scones, a few laughs at the lycra brigade and a phone call to the CO. Thanks (they think) for an interesting adventure.
While out making the most of the great weather we had for International Earthcache Day I decided this was the earth cache I'd assault today. Geodad dropped me off in the carpark at the bottom of the waterfall and I made my way up past the swarms of slow walkers! (They were really out in force today) Once at the turnoff point there was a bit of confusion on my end as to where the turnoff was, but I made the executive decision to follow a very worn looking trail and it turned out to be the correct one! After the pleasant walk up the hill I turned the corner to see the amazing rock! After a few photos were taken I got down to business studying it! I resisted licking the rock as it wasn't required, but I did climb it!
Now that the rolling stones theory has been busted this left me scratching my head and sizing up the rock. I believe that this rock will one day roll if a UFO decides to visit waterfall Gully and have a picnic. They can use their tractor beam to clear the rocks out the way and make a nice flat landing space!
The answers to the questions will follow shortly. Thanks for the cache and for bringing me to such an awesome spot! a definite favourite point from me!

The brisal5 family minus 1 all set out for a morning walk up this seldom used trail for International Earthcache Day. . The car park was absolutely chockers with hundreds doing the falls to summit track. My mojo started early when a car started to reverse out of a park just as I arrived. So up to the top of the falls we trekked and then over the creek we all went (minus 1). Bri slipped on the wet rocks and ended up in the creek1 Lucky only pride was hurt and no blood was spilled of clothing torn, for a change. A quick Maxwell Smart recovery was made before the others could get their phone out and spread my foopah via social media!
Up the track that hasn't been maintained and is well overgrown with numerous trees to either climb over or under. With much huffing and puffing we made it to GZ and were rewarded with spectacular views. A phone call to the C/O to give him the answers and obtain permission to log. .
When I was a teenager I used to ride my deadly treadly to both here and morialta and trek these trails. This was one of my favorite hangouts. Thanks for bringing me back her CP Wandered. A Favorite point from me.

This is lycra central! Parking was at a premium but we stalked in Dr Owl's car some of the lycra brigage who had keys in their hands and scored a park in the car park and not down the road like a lot of people. Dr Owl and myself were more suitably dressed in tee shirts, jeans and sensible hats. No step metre straps or trendy drink bottles here! Made the assault on the busy track and resting at the top of the falls on a rock realised we were opposite the path. While narrow, it wasn't as overgrown as we had been led to suspect. While I initially queried Dr Ow'sl sanity in doing this Earthcache it turned out to be not too bad and achievable. Any calories we burned off on the walk were sacrificed to some yummy just baked scones and hot chocolate in the cafe while we contemplated if we were in mortal danger from any rock falls. Dr Owl phoned in our answers which were declared okay for us to post. Thanx
Sebastbat and I climbed the mountain in search of glory and caches.
One cache defeated us today, but we will return.
But the view deserves an earthcache, and here it is
We reached castle rock, so we were kings of the castle!
Many theories were explored and contrived and emailed to the CO.
We hope our limited knowledge fo geology is not too obvious, but we thought
our knowledge of rock n roll would help.
Carefully, we stepped off the rock, hoping it would not roll.
A climb well worth climbing.

We passed the nice waterfall with damned plunge pool on the way up and then found the old track to the rocks. A few blackberry bushes with spikes are stating to take over the track in various locations so lucky we had long pants on. Great views from up top. TFTC

Aaaah, geology!! You gotta love it! Given the number of people trooping up and down this 'freeway' of a walking track to the summit or enjoying a casual coffee at the bottom of the trail; if this rock ever does decide to roll during a sunny Sunday in Waterfall Gully we are going to have to build a new cemetery to house the dead. I hope Malco! and I sitting on it today did not promote this process. If so, are we liable to be arrested for culpable homicide/manslaughter? TFTC CPWanderer.
I came here on another mission, but it turns out my destination coincided with this beaut Earth Cache. Tiger Muffin came too.
I’ve known about this location for yonks (it's hard to miss), but I considered it rather hard to get to as the trail leading here from below was left to grow narrow and bramble-challenged, and it's starting point unmarked. The main road through here is so busy with zombies with their earphones in, that it's difficult to go a minute without having to move aside to let them pass, so I avoid this area, and tend to visit Chambers Gully or along the Carro Track where the atmosphere it better. It was a pleasure to ascend to Castle Rock in relative peace and view the valley below.
Whilst up here, we saw the other trails across the valley which aren’t on any map I was aware off, so after finishing up, we took an exploratory walk up the other side along these trails up to the Old Bullock Track. Now that was fun. The trails are now on OpenStreetMap for future reference.
Thanks for the cache, CPWanderer.

It's compulsory to visit an earthcache on earthcache day so this became the bunny. I never knew this location existed although I had heard stories of its existence. An interesting structure.

Will this rock ever roll???,... perhaps - if we manage to get all the geocachers in SA to Wander together, with a big freddo style pull rope, a tardis time travelling device, a frozen footed heave ho, A cache or checking calculation, a chance of clear astro skies, a powerful lioness roar, a coupole of scooby snacks and a little squeak we might just get there!!!
Thank CPwanderer for the find.

We came here to find that slightly more extreme multi cache so we figured we had better get this earth cache while we were here. After getting the scary part out of the way we admired the views, answered the questions and then Astro asked "Is it granite?" It looks like it. Where's Freddo when you need him?

There was an Earthcache Day 2014 event being held nearby and seeing that we had an earthcache that we had not been to before it seemed fitting to do it today. A younger, fit & energetic crowd had already started to make their way up. Earthlight & Mrs 3LG wandered up at a much slower pace, stopping a good half dozen times to let the heart rate return to normal & admire the native orchids, beautiful flowers while Mr 3LG was trying not to give himself a cardiac arrest on his 5km trek up to the Summit.
Not sure if that rock will ever roll but given the number of people here today, we could have had a Rock & Roll party
Cool earthcache CP & thanks for bringing us here

This rock is not exactly the rolling shape. If it collapses down into the valley it won't be any time soon in my opinion. I enjoyed my visit with some locals and finding some challenging caches in the area.
After attending the nearby earthcache day event I walked up her with a small group of other cachers to gather the required information and watch the antics occurring nearby [^]

Found with a group of geocachers while at an Earthcache Day 2014 celebration in Waterfully Gully with HathiCPSG. The SuperMonkey found the rocks interesting and a bit hard to climb. Lots of pretty flowers on the walk today. Great views from the cache site! [^]
At an Earthcache Day 2014 celebration in Waterfully Gully with the older SuperMonkey. Suddenly he's decided we will follow after everyone for a while and get closer to the First Falls. Then before I realise we are across the creek and up a little used track in unsuitable footwear and carrying a handbag (instead of a backpack) following behind some other cachers. We get to the top and find a group of well-renowned GC royalty looking at rocks and climbing near cliff edges. A group effort meant that neither I or the SuperMonkey had to climb too close the edge. Great views from the cache site! [^]
Found as part of a group assault on Earthcache Day 2014. Email has been sent. Great view from here. TFTC.
Today this was the Earth Cache we had chosen for International Earth Cache Day. Well it started out with Us arriving early to get a park as there was an event held nearby. So we had left home at 6:30am to get here in a timely manner as we hear that parking can be a nightmare, well we seemed to be lucky we got a park pretty much straight away. We used this Earth Cache as part of the Virtual 5k Earth cache as well so it proved to be a fun day. We discovered very quickly that geodog could not go on the walk which hindered our starting while we worked out a plan. Off went Mrs Bee and HarleyJohn in search off this view. After heading up the trail for a while we both decided that we would be better prepared to do it with other cachers when they arrived at 9am....
Using the group approach made it not seem so ardourus going up the mountain, and by mountain Mrs Bee was huffing and puffing. It was comforting to know that Firesafe was behind us "just in case" haha no assistance was needed.
What an amazing view there was at GZ the views are phenomenal, We cant believe that more people havent been here to visit this Earth Cache, but do heed the notes and the terrain and dont go it alone
THanks CP for the great adventure

Attended the Earth Day Event some metres below and could not resist breaking away from the main party and heading up the hill to this one. Interesting track.
So will it ever roll? The rock may roll on the 25th of October 2014- maybe around 9:30pm. Then Mick and Keith will be pumping some rolling stones music out at Adelaide Oval, not too far down the gully. The ground vibes may just be enuf to roll the stones around and who knows........ Come back on the 26th and see what happened........
Clear skies to CPwanderer from TeamAstro.

After all the excitement of finding the local multi cache nearby, I almost forgot there was still some more work to do. After all we were here to celebrate earth cache week. Luckily I had seen and felt enough of castle rock to be able to answer the questions.
About 6 hours after the visit here I was still wandering around the area and found myself on the other side of the gully and noticed how prominent castle rock really is (see photo)
Thanks for the Earth Cache CP!

After the nearby Earthcache Day 2014 event, Mr Tardis along with a band of merry cachers ventured along this old track that I've never been up before - such magnificent views from GZ.
I thought the big rock might have rolled today with so many cachers clambering all over it, but alas it stayed in place. A really interesting but rarely visited place.

Always love visiting Waterfall Gully for some bush walking and when you can grab a cache or two on the way, well that's even better. Especially when it is an Earth Cache. The walk up here was SO much better than the standard "tourist" walking trails and the view at the top is just breathtaking.

Very nice spot for a cache and never knew it was there. Went up in the evening and it was stunning
Fantastic late afternoon walk with geokid#1. Started from the waterfall gully car park, up to top of waterfall#1, found track to north half way along to 2nd waterfall, crossed creek and headed up the hill along the old track. Before heading to THE rock, headed all the up to the fire track just under the high voltage power lines. Have walked this fire track previously...came up The Stairs a few weeks back and then to Cleland car park. Then headed back down the track to the most awesome big stone, checking out a small gecko along the way spotted by Geokid #1. Great views to the northwest and southwest from The Rock. Could hear trucks on the freeway to the southeast. Bird life near the rock was abundant! Fabulous afternoon with nature. Thanks so much for bringing us here. TFTC CPwanderer!
Up up up we go to a Throne we have been to before a longtime ago!
Plenty of Dihydrogen Monoxide around today, and avoiding a rushing stream of the stuff was the hardest task to reach the goat track!
Thanks for bringing us up this way again CP.

Plenty of Dihydrogen Monoxide around today, and avoiding a rushing stream of the stuff was the hardest task to reach the goat track!

Tried to time our walk to take advantage of the flux of people returning from their Saturday morning Mt Lofty highway walk... which scored us a car park! Then it was time to take the track less travelled.
Lots of dew-filled spider webs and interesting fungi on our way up.
Its been awhile since we took this track, and its possibly more overgrown than last time we were here. GZ was a great spot to take in the view and ponder the geology. Answers sent while we were still sitting here catching our breath.

Cannot bring myself to log a DNF as it was more an "Arrived Too Late in the day"and "Not Looking Correctly at Waypoint". After waiting for the muggle sister for a few hours, we didnt arrive in the carpark until 4pm. Mind you it was still a tussle for a carpark as all the fitness freaks were arriving for a quick 'run' Are these people nuts????
Came prepared with water, snacks, drinks, batteries, phones and a GPS and still missed a few important words in the notes. (despite printing all the info out) Anyway, we were looking for a flashing neon light to get us to the trailhead. (CP has previously presented us with an ISAG card and mum earnt it today) It all fell into place on our return from halfway up the hill but it was way too late to give this a go.
It certainly does look special on google earth. Look forward to returning and thanks for bringing us up to this beautiful part of town CP

Straight line I had 180m on my GPSr to the earthcache. And 120m of elevation. So off I went up a trail I have visited several times before. The track is looking not much worse than my last visit 4 years ago. Up, up, up, up you go. Suddenly you burst out of the bush to a lookout with impressive views. Town is over there and your car is way down there. The answer to the $64 question is that the rock will roll when Mick and Keef play the Oval. That is probably never.
