Super cool cache! Hard to find till we used the gps. Found with Sholva42 and Yvette416, but they dont have premium
#7318Took a little while to find but found in the end after reading the description. Awesome views from GZ. TSLN SL, took tb.Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache gibb11
#7318We had time before dinner, so went for a drive - mainly after 2/2 and above caches, so ended up down in Manapouri and beyond... It was a fun afternoon, only 6 finds, but they were all worth going for. Thanks for a nice cache at the wetlands, with appropriate DT ratings too. Coordinates were spot on too, 2m.Reading the description helped! We took the TBTFTC!
What a spot! Ive been wanting to see what was here and had no idea it here were walks! Ill be back to do those. Found with CatseyesNZ. TFTC
What a beautiful spot. Bit windy but the rain held off. In a caching day with The DoolittlesNZ . Tftc
Found on a nice drive on the scenic route on our way to the coast. We are locals but never stopped at the wetlands. Thanks for showing us here, next time we'll bring some binoculars. I bet it's a great spot for bird watching tftc
We took a short diversion off our intended route to find this cache as it looked to be an interesting area. That it was, really beautiful, but of the cache we saw no sign. We searched under just about every bush & among the flax. A bit disappointed, but it was worth coming here to visit this wonderful wetland.
Super interessante Landschaft.
Gute gefunden den Cache, danke für den Cache und Grüße aus Deutschland!
Es war lange keiner hier am Cache.

Quick walk up the hill with Southland icbergs, firekitten, geoman. Finders JP, KS.
Quick stop on route to Kepler track for overnight. Found with Southlandicebergs
A great spot for a walk and views of the wetlands, on our road trip travels. Tftc.
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we were parked up at the new NZMCA Manapouri camp site … we were out for a drive to visit the Rakatu Wetlands & thought it would be rude not to pick up the caches here … it was quiet with nobody around … an easy find, logbook signed & safely returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,002 for us.
I really appreciated the beautiful views of the wetland from up here but I just couldn't track down the cache unfortunately. There were very strong cold winds but I did have a good look. Could easily still be there though.
The plan for today is to try and locate a few caches south of Te Anau towards Tuatapere.
It is great that the wetlands are being re-established.
Cheers for the cache.

After the weekend before was a non-event as my man got called into work. This was a getaway we both needed. It worked out well in the end as the previous time the weather was absolutely sh**. Weather held out nicely for the two days, though the hike up to GZ here was a brisk one as the cold wind was howling through the valley. Next time we'll do the loop walk but for now it was a quick find and a gathering of information at the nearby shelter.. which was very cool, and back into the cachemobile for warmth. Thanks for bringing us to this place tftc
First find of the day on way to Invercargill. Took longer than it should have to find
On our trip to Manapuori we selected this cache because of its hiding date. That day marks the beginning of our geocaching history. I got a geocaching book as a present for my birthday - and only 4 days later we logged our first cache found.
We enjoyed the views from here over the area and saw lots of birds and sheep.
We searched a long while for the cache, must have overseen it several times doing so. But in the end ... we found it.
Thank you for the cache and for bringing us here.

Replacing the cache today after it seems to have gone missing somehow. A new container, logbook and trading items will be put in place.
It was raining cats and dogs when we got here - really nasty weather which was getting worse every minute. Luckily there is the shelter here at the viewpoint. Unfortunately, like the last person who looked for this cache, we could not find it and returned very wet to the car.
Maybe the cache owner should check if the cache is still there.

Took some finding as not in hint object. It is now.
Will go back when the rain stops. Handy shelter and great view.

Out for a Sunday drive today and the wetlands looked like a good spot for a walk and cache. Found quickly and we took the time to enjoy the view. TFTC
Ten days off in a row for the price of two leave days, how fabulous! Packed up the whanau for an adventure and headed south. Our original plans were slightly thwarted by water, but we made the trip into an adventure tikitour with a few caches along the way. Signing the logs as Team Polak or TP for brevity. Great fun, thanks to all the CO’s for the entertainment!!
We are on vacation in New Zealand and of course we seek some caches.
Thanks for this one!
Greetings from the Dutch.

Really lovely spot for a picnic. Cache took longer to find than in should have done! Tftc
Very interesting to find out about the river and wetlands. We saw several ducks, a black swan and a black and white cormorant. Had our picnic here. Thanks.

Interessante Gegend .
Ein Mückenschwarm hat den Cache bewacht .
Vielen Dank für das Abenteuer vor Ort .

Last time we were in the area the wetland was in the process of being developed. Now there are all these tracks! We went to the viewpoint and had planned to go further, but unfortunately the front came through so we retreated and did the short walk to the Waiau instead.
On our way to Te Anau, ReCached and I decided to pay the Rakatu Wetlands a visit. The information panels near the cache gave us a good idea on how much effort was expended in this area to make it an awesome place for animals. Finding the cache wasn't too hard, but the hint was kind of misleading as the container wasn't hidden at the mentioned structure. TFTC gibb11!

Finding the cache was a piece of cake... as soon as we started to ignore the hint. The walk is really nice and full of wildlife
We were impressed by the magnificent view across the wetlands on a sunny day, and indeed by the impressive lookout building and its displays. However, it took quite a while to find the cache. We tried to make sense of the hint, but without success, so just resorted to looking in random places around the coordinates, which were in fact fairly accurate. TFTC

Another find after a short, but steep, walk!

Took from friends to see this, and it was great to both cache and show them the wetlands!
Day 3 of our south of south NZ caching blitz being shown around by kiwigeoswarmi and granville86a. Great to have the local knowledge to find these spots. This wetland is huge, great to see, glad to have a cache here to bring us out. Tftc
Off for the weekend with Annie links, Abbykit and Downsouthinv to plan the layout of an up coming Guide camp in Kingston. An overnight trip so we can cache on the way.
A nice bit of exercise. I was the one who had saved this offline, and AnnieLin made the find once at GZ.
Definitely great views. Black swans and their cygnets out on the water today.
Thanks for the smilie.

Weather deteriorated while at top of big hill. Woww it's windy up there and a great lookout shelter too! Visited the office as well. Bring own paperwork. Box soon in hand and dealt with gingerly so it wouldn't blow away. Gravel really?? that got flinged. Had to give way for slow low moving hedgehog, so cute, and move big branch that fell on road. Homeward. TB dropped. TFTC
#4122. Day 5 of the southern adventure. Have flown south to attend a conference at Te Anau over Queens Birthday weekend and after spending two days listening to talks and meeting people, it was time to get out and find some caches. Now heading south to Invercargill and grabbing caches as we go. Decided we had enough time to walk up to the lookout. Good to get a bit of exercise and the views at the GZ made it worthwhile. Lovely day with clear skies. Plenty of waterfowl present on the ponds. Took a few minutes to find the cache. Just required getting damp knees. Signed the log and replaced where found. Thanks for the cache gibb11. Picked up a geocoin for further travels and logged the virtual geocoin.
Gate was open and we drove the short way to the carpark. A nice walk up the path to the GZ and after a quick search nearby the big box was soon in hand. Someone hadn't bagged the goods properly and while I SL the little woman set things back to rights with some swag thrown in and returned to hide, sheltered side. A bit of a wind blowing at the tops and the lookout provided a sheltered view of the wetland project. Thanks for leading us here for the cache Jenny.

Today I took the time for some Geocaching on my way from Te Anau to Invercargill. I started by walking a part of the Kepler track and finding some caches along the way. Then I visited this cache, by taking a detour of the road. And I'm happy I did, because what a beautiful view! Thanks for hiding!
Very impressive nature restore project with a amazing view from where the cache is hidden. Lots of birds and wildlife.
Thanks for showing us the place!!

We went to NZ for six weeks and did some geocaching on the way
We started exploring in Christchurch. What an exciting city, we loved it! The ReStart Market, the food trucks, the people, awesome city! After CHCH we went south. Dunedin and the pinguins were great! We went to Stewart Island and even Ulva Island to see some birds and find a geocache down south. From there we went to the North. Doubtfulsound was beautiful and sunny, Lake Wanaka wonderful! Abel Tasmantrack is an awesome hike, i can recommend it to all geocachers. The North Island was also a succes. Rotorua and the Vulcano's, wow! Napier, Tongariro Crossing, Ohopi Beach, White Island, big Kauri trees, Cape Reinga, the Bay of Islands... it was all fantastic.
We did love travelling and camping in NZ.
H wanted to spot the birds and plants... and i found the geocache overhere

Found with Tuitigger. Thought I'd be a bit competitive and make a dash in front of hubby to get to it first, however I twisted my knee and ended up hobbling down rather shamefaced afterwards. AND he found it. TFTC
Found quickly as Searchwisely was in pain. Attracted to this one as apparently there was a trackable here. Disappointed as there wasn't... people had logged they found cache and took TB but not logged on app or website.
Its a 3 week expedition, with The Seagnoid and Zara, round the South Island. Rakiura Walkway, my objective, is bagged, so its homeward bound the long way round. Its Friday, day 15 of our journey, leaving Invercargill - for Clifton.
Enjoyed my walk around here. The cache was a bonus - snagged and tagged. Cheers

Today we traveled from Te Anau to Invercargill. On the way, we visited a couple of caches that brought us on lonely roads and to nice places. Thanks to all cache owners for hiding and maintaining these caches. We had a lot of fun in finding and signing them.
Returned to show the area to my new husband (nicknamed Bruceyboy on the log book). Was completely different feeling returning with blue skies above watching the baby swans and ducks gliding around the wetlands. will return
Thought I had logged this one as found but was informed by Granville86a that I hadn't logged this one yet, sorry about the delay in logging this one. Granville86a and I stopped by to find this one on a slightly chilly and at times drizzly morning. Never knew this was here, such an amazing place both the stunning scenery and the effort that people have put in to get it to where it is now. Thanks for the placement will return and show off this quiet hidden place in southland
TFTC - probably would not ever stopped here if there was not a geocache
Thanks for bringing me to this lovely place

Thanks for placing the cache - I don't think I would of made it up here otherwise , definitely worth a visit

My second visit to the wetlands. My first was before the cache was out and also in my pre caching life.
Found with our grand-daughter and one of the Thornley kids. Picked up travel bug JANWBW. Log a bit wet but can still be written on.
Finally managed to find the cache at the lookout. There was a cache here a few years ago but it went astray so good to see another in its place. Great view out over the wetlands today, no wind!!!
It was a nice walk to the viewpoint, a quick find and a great view!

What an amazing area! We did not even know about this wetland. It was a very wet day but would love to come back and do the whole walk. Easy find.
18002 km from home we found this Cache while our holidays. Thank you very much for hiding and greetings from Dresden, Germany! In: TB
A great place to put a cache - good views of the wetlands, a really good lookout and toilets not far away. We would loved to have taken more time to complete some of the walks but sadly we needed to be on the road. Thanks for bringing us here. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
