Northland Day 2: Drove up from Hokianga to Cape Reinga and back down to Doubtless Bay to stay the night. Today’s drive is a really, really long one, and I am glad for these caches that break the monotony of the drive. Many park and grabs today due to the lack of time, would have really liked to do some of the better ones. That being said, many nice ECs along the way and a lot of amazing views and sights seen today.
The following is the specific log for each cache:
It was turning out to be quite a warm morning, so had broke into some sweat scaling the hill to the lookout. The cache was found after spending some time at the wrong triplets. A little trashy here... but oh well. Headed for an early lunch in Kaitaia after this. TFTC!

Cache is now gone missing we looked at one of the photos in the logs and it is not where it's supposed to be
Today we had a trip from Kaitaia to Cape Reinga and back, thereby visiting many locations especially near the road and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was good all day long with only partly some clouds.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to 'Tufty' for showing us this location and for the fun we had at 'Kaitaia Lookout #2'. The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

A quick detour stop before attending a training at the hospital. With clue and GPS nailed the spot easily. Needs a new log.

Found with The X-Trailers as we travelled the nth island. We are having a fabulous time caching as we go. TFTC
Make sure to find the correct triplets heading back south after a parental visit up here good cache, log almost full though
Found the cache, was bit deeper in then we thought but good spot. Take the hint literally and it's easy. TFTC.
This was an unexpected visit to Kaitaia for First Aid supplies after injuring myself at the previous (DNF) cache; well; 2 caches up here to fill the 04 & 07 minutes for the C.O's S35 Challenge....
I found several possibilities for the hint bit of course once I found the real one it was easy.
Thanks, Tufty, for placing & maintaining this cache.

A quick find, while on the way to a customers. This was an unexpected sidetrip, originally I was going from Dargaville back to Hamilton. This is now my most northerly cache. Awesome!
TFTC Tufty, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 3 find(s) of 4 today, making this find #1649

I came at just the right time, and saw the most beautiful sunset. The pictures do not do it justice.

Have to struggle with the phone coordinate. But the hint give an exact clue. Happy but sad. Nice town view, the city council need to do a lot of jobs to make Kaitaia Great Again!! TFTC
This was a weekend that had been in the planning for a little while and in the company of HKCB we headed up after work. the object for the weekend was to locate as many of the west coast caches as possible along with a couple of other mini missions including the northern most caches, and earth caches. All was going well until we hit a rock and punctured/ripped a tyre which in turn resulted in the weeknd being brough to a premature end and heading home effectively 24 hours early. We did however manage to collect approx 50 caches and a number of these had not been located for some considerable time.
I would like to thank all the cache owners for their work to keep many of these remote caches still in place.
This was the twenty sixth cache of the trip and a nice quick find for the thirteenth of the day. using the hint helped here
Thanks for the cache, Thanks for the placement

On a bit of a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, with the goal to find the 2 most Northerly caches in NZ and while we were up there to find as many as we can along the West side of Northland. Unfortunately a bit of car trouble cut the weekend mission short and we had to pull the pin and head home about 10pm Saturday night. Still we had a lot of fun and saw some pretty awesome parts of our country, so a big thanks must be given to all the CO's who's caches we found. All up we located just shy of 50 caches and signed the logs either HKCB/C&D or HKCD.
The hint was more helpful than the coords for this find, well they did put us in the rough area. C&D was quickly on this hide.

7.45am - DAY 3 of 3. Final day caching up North today and this was a massive driving day for me today. Kaitaia to Rotorua then home to Papamoa, along with a huge list of caches to collect.
We ended up wasting far too much time on a Wherigo in Whangarei which we had to DNF.
Thankfully mother finds came a lot quicker so made up up for a bit of lost time.
We will have to return one day to collect the ones we missed on this trip.
Enjoyed the weekend with a 100+ caches found. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and Mr Davidson (of Davidson clan). Signed most finds as BGH.
Visiting Northland for Easter... The plan for today was to cache our way back to Whangarei (and home), while picking up as many caches that fill spaces in challenges we are working on. We really hope to make a big dent into several challenges this weekend...
By the time we arrived back in town, the rain had lifted, and it was dry enough to walk up the slope to the lookout. Gap found the cache, and we spent a few minutes exploring the hilltop and admiring the view. We found the old map dais, which could do with better care and restoration. Thanks for bringing us here, and TFTC.

We buy some food supplies at nearby store and we decided to catch all cache of Kaitaia. The grass was cut, so go up was easy. The view here is good. Pity it was cloudy. We managed to find it quite fast. The blind street complicated the plans to continue, we had to go back the same way.
Thanks for the cache.

After a tiring day in the Far North, I wanted to take a look at the traditionals around Kaitaia. Only 2 were to be found, the third one I visited already yesterday. This was the first of the 2. My GPS told me to go up a road that nowadays ends at a barrier, but it was the perfect place to park my car. A little walk up and a little down and I was at GZ, where the cache was found quickly. Loved the view over Kaitaia, thanks for showing!
I'm new to this so probably didn't do something right. I went to the plinth but no further clues and it was otherwise scrub plus rubbish
Not many caches in Kaitaia, so this was a "must do". Found after short hunt. Good to get high enough to have a view, thanks Tufty.
1/2/17 - After our campervan blew a gasket we ended up stuck in Kaitaia before we could get our hands on another vehicle. Luckily this was here so I could continue my streak on foot! TFTC
On the way to Waitangi we could take some caches along the way. The hints and the coords were good and so we were quickly found.
Thanks for the care of the cans and greetings from Germany say the Moorhelmis

Found after spending somebeautiful days in Kaitaia and its surroundings. TFTC
Found an empty 200ml sistema lying about as we headed to GZ, so after hunting around GZ we thought that this container must have been what was mentioned in the previous posts. So we placed some paper we had on hand in the container as a log and returned to its hiding place as described in hint. we CITO'ed some rubbish (could have spent the day doing that here with lots of trash around) before admiring the views across Kaitaia. TFTC Tufty
Found the cache on my running tour, but still no logbook in there. Unfortunately I had nothing with me to replace it.
But good view over kaitaia.

Nice little legstretch after the long drive up & before the Kaitaia funrun. TFTC!

Went to Cape Reinga for the day and decided to stop and do a few caches on our way back to Paihia. Nice quick find and the back in the car before the next rain shower hit. Very windy today but still good to get out. TFTC
Found it after looking a while. Only a small walk into the trees. The photos from cachers helped. Thanks. No travel bug though. Tftcc
Got there as the sun was going down. Was beautiful until the sun went behind a cloud. Cache soon in hand even though GPS was a little off under the trees. TFT (replaced) C.
We found it!! Tricky lil hunt to find the triplets! Have taken the travel bug TCXQJC on an adventure will log next stop asap! Beautiful view on a sunshining day in Kaitaia!
After a little bit of hunting I find the triplets.
I have left travel bug TCXQJC. little globe.
A nice view but this isn't a place I would like to be at night alone. TFTC

I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who is staying now for more than five months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip will lead us to the Far North with some spectacular locations, seeing many things, having good eating and drinks and do some fine activities in the sanddunes of Te Paki Stream.
It is a lot of driving, but we think, it is worth the result.
Of course, even if it is not our main activity during this holidays, we will looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to Tufty for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

Even on an overcast day the coast view was still visible from near the cache. TFTC
Went back, sat in the car, ate a sandwich and had another go. Its not a jar !
#2172 Out for an afternoon adventure with High Orbit with the goal of picking up the last 2 caches I needed for the 35¤ challenge. This was #2 on the must-get hitlist. The light was fading when we got here which made the search trickier. The bouncing GPS signal didn't help either but after a valiant effort, I spotted a spot that could work with the hint and voila! TFTC!
Rocked up as the sun was setting with Skaga. After much searching she finally found it. There are a lot of things in the immediate area that seem to match the hint. We found it about 10m to the east of where the coordinates seemed to be pointing. It was a fun hunt tftc!
#10927. It would have been a shame to have visited Kaitaia and not found a cache. This one seemed the only realistic option, though not an ideal one given the wet weather. The rain had slackened off a bit, so we decided to go for it. Once we got to GZ we were keen to find the cache (a case of more haste less speed) but we got there in the end, and back to the car before the heavier rain returned. TFTC.
After a wild night, the rain finally stopped this morning and the sky was looking brighter, so we headed out to the Karikari Peninsula, hoping to do some exploring before the rain started in earnest again. We were lucky that the rain held off until mid afternoon and we were able to do most of what we had planned.
We had never visited Kaitaia before, so when the rain set in, we drove there for a look around. We had to find one cache here, so on with the rain jackets and raced up the hill to GZ. After initially examining some wannabe hint objects, we found the real deal and the cache was soon found. Quickly admired the view, what we could see, anyway, then back to the dryness of the car. TFTC.

Staying overnight in Kaitaia and decided to go for a walk in the relative cool of the evening. This was the only active cache in the town at this time and it was in a great spot, well worth going to. No problems with the find. Signed log, thanks Tufty for the cache and for bringing me here.
Still waiting for the summer to return to get back to playing on the beach. Passing the time picking up a couple or 3 caches. This was quickly located, signed and replaced. No geocoin to be seen in cache . View not to bad even on an overcast day. TFTC
This time I did look at the map to get to the correct access near the water filtration facility. Then, I followed the nice path up to the lookout. The marker has been vandalized, so I turned my attention to more interesting things. It turns out there are many, many things that fit the hint. I browsed some PF logs and came up with a new direction to look and finally found the cache. TFTC.
Went looking for it in a pair of jandals. Do not recommend. Great hiding place though!
We had a feeling we had been here before to find a previous cache. Enjoyed the view and the easy find.tftc
Stopped for a little walk up the hill on our way through town heading to the west. Took a little searching, but finally spotted the hint items and found the cache. Thanks.
Great little hide, took us some time to work out how to get to it though! Placed a trace bug not bad whakatane to kaitaia!
#7061. Went for a short walk in the Kaitaia Domain after dinner this evening. GZ was all quiet when we visited. Quick find, although GPS was pointing about 10 metres away. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. The container was no longer a jar, and glad to be the first to sign the replacement log book. Unfortunately, Porkpie Mini 1 Geocoin was not in the cache. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Stopped in with Hokiangler while heading north on business today. Replaced cache for CO as was missing. All good to go . Great to enjoy such an awesome view over Kaitaia on a beautiful afternoon. New container in place and waiting to be found.
