Such a windy day! We decided to trek in forest so we chose Main Ridge Track starting from Lowry Bay and ending to York Bay. We liked especially that main track. TFTC!

Great spot for a wee breather! Container a little damp inside but log all good. Dried as much as I could. All fine hereThanks for adding to my adventure today

24-Jan-24
The minicachers were getting a bit cache-weary on this walk so I invented a new rule. One bonus minute of screen time for each cache they find. Suddenly there was a lot of enthusiasm again Very Happy

So I get to GZ, and ther eare some interesting trees just begging for a cache. So I have my head down, bum up, peering into the nooks and crannies around the tree when a couple of joggers came past. They didn't really say anything, just "Hi", but they must have wondered why I had my ear on the ground!Yeah, I was at the wrong tree too.---A few days ago I came up here to get a multi-cache as it was a multi-cache dot day. On the way up I thought I should check the map when I get to the cache and collect any trads on the way back. Well, I found the cache readily enough, but completely forgot to check for other caches. So today I decided I should go back. The forcast was for a cloudy morning with rain in the afternoon but in actual fact it was rain all day. It's raining out there. Should I go or postpone? It's going to rain again tomorrow.Oh bugger it. I grabbed my tramping raincoat and hopped on the bus. Turned out the rain was mild, just a light drizzle all day. Definately a raincoat day!Was a great walk and despite the rain I really enjoyed my time up on the ridge.

22-Nov-23
Once I'd reverse the backwards clock in my head, I didn't have any issue! TFTC

Out with for a stroll and cache. Checked on this one of ’a while we were here. Lovely and dry in the cache.

26-Jun-22
Came out and visited this cache. All was good. Have replaced old log with a new one and placed inside a ziplock bag to keep extra dry. Logbook is R.I.T.R paper though. So all goods. Happy hunting everyone

22-Apr-22
Main Ridge Track (Wainuiomata) was transferred from bigcheesenz to user RsaRhinos

04-Jan-22
Found on a very warm day during my walk along the Main Ridge Track as far as the Ferry Track down to Days Bay I've been meaning for a long time to pick up caches on this route
The log in this one is a bare piece of paper contained directly in a small Systema and yet it is totally dry! Figure that one I guess that the container gets just enough direct sunlight to force out any moisture that migrates inside during colder damp conditions Or whatever?
TFTC

01-Aug-21
Doing a few caches on the ridge track today, so nabbed this one while passing.

07-Jun-21
A nice and easy find. Thanks for placing the cache

04-Apr-21
Was a bit confused by the hint as coords were 10 meters out for us but a further hint in the cache description made more sense and a quick find followed.

10-Jan-21

06-Jun-20
We walked from the Wainui bridge to the Mt Lowry trig lookout today. The track is nowhere near as bad as the description makes it sound. Most of it is quite pleasant.

28-Dec-19
A quick find, all in order and new log is still very dry. Then I had 'What's the time Mr Wolf?' stuck in my head until the next stop...

05-Jan-19

Enjoying our walk through here today, with the added bonus of easy to find caches along the way - tftc

03-Dec-18
Another nice spot, thanks!!!

22-Apr-18
In Wellington delivering Zara to my Father-in-law. Extra time to catch up with family and friends included. A day to myself today so I'm heading to Wainuiomata for a walk.
Its back to the turn off and along the ridge to snag and tag this one. Cheers

23-Feb-18
This one was a little tricky but good hint.

06-Feb-18
Nice find for Harry. Cheers

06-Jan-18
Easily found on the way back down the ridge track. Tftc

03-Jan-18
Thanks to Mintie5 for replacing the Logbook.

02-Jan-18
Carried on up the ridge track from the last cache. It was hot going and I was pleased to get to GZ and find the cache without trouble. I replaced the sodden logbook with a couple of pieces of waterproof paper (my son who lives in Japan, bought me a nifty notepad from the 100 yen shop, the equivalent of a $2 shop). I didn’t have a plastic bag with me unfortunately, so perhaps the next finder could bring one. TFTC

28-Dec-17
Can't write on log - too soggy.

27-Dec-17
I had a short search for this using GPS alone without making any progress. I checked the hint and found it made no sense. Did a methodical search instead and turned up the cache after not too long. This was today's only unsignable log. I almost made a mark but instead clogged up my pen as a I discovered when trying to sign the next cache. Attaching a photo of the logbook instead. TFTC.

27-Dec-17
Unfortunately, due to the location of this cache, I am physically unable to get to this location to perform maintenance. If someone was able to perform maintenance on my behalf I would be greatful.

09-Nov-17
Out walking the dog in the bush today, finding a few geocaches en route. A nice and easy first find here, slightly damp logbook though. Tftc!

08-Jan-17
Found during a ridge run between Summit Road firebreak and Days Bay. Cache spot was a welcome break from the up-hill action! All in good order at GZ, cache was well hidden yet quickly found. Coords are excellent, and the description/hint text are spot-on. TFTC.

26-Dec-16
All good, found while on a pleasant early morning walk. Was initially looking for a micro as per cache description but then found something that looked more like a 'small' instead. Emptied the container of water but struggled to write my name on the sodden log book. *TFTC bigcheesenz, #9408*

11-Dec-16
Found while caching with Drawp. TFTC

11-Dec-16

Fast find on lovely track… had lunch with little golden leaves drifting down on me Cheers bigcheesenz.

06-Nov-16
Heading south along the ridge track - first time up here for a very long time. Nice to be sheltered from the weather. Straight forward find; log damp but still writable. TFTC.

05-Nov-16
This side of the track is a bit wetter in parts but reasonably dry at the cache. It's very peaceful up here, really enjoying it Smile Tftc

#2094 A great afternoon out and about in some of the Wainui hills. Thanks for another smilie

09-May-16
This was a nice quick find after joining the track from the Puriri one. It was good to locate a few extra caches today than I was expecting to. This marked the turn around point of a very enjoyable walk.

20-Apr-16
Found after a hunt around. Enjoying the bush thank you

27-Mar-16
Thanks

29-Jan-16
I decided I'd take a walk along the ridge track this afternoon. Started at the top of the Wainui Hill and went as far as the Ferry rd track turn off. I had intended to go a bit further but had run out of time. A reasonably quick find here. Turned out to be a bit bigger than I was expecting. TFTC

23-Jan-16
Found it after a few visits TFTC

18-Jan-16
#1666. Heading up to Mt Lowry today before I start work in the office again tomorrow. Managed to persuade the girls to put down their electronic gadgets and books and join me on a bush walk. Starting to get steeper on the track before we reached this one. So it was a relief it was a quick find close to the track. The log was dry. Signed and replaced the cache as found. Nice wandering under the tall canopy of beech forest along this track. Thanks for the cache.

12-Jan-16
Good spot for a breather on my way to the top

07-Jan-16
Find #2516. After two days of cycle caching, today was all about Shank's Pony and a bit of a work out on the East Harbour Hills. Came up from York Bay, heading back to Lowry, a round trip of approx 10km. Missed this one on the first sweep, well hidden, then finally spotted. SL TFTC

19-Dec-15
All good here, TFTC

19-Dec-15
Came here by way of Puriri Track and the main ridge, visiting Duck, Duck, Goose on the way and then Francis Bell Reserve 1.
Love the walking in this area. Made that much more enjoyable by a warm sunny and calm Saturday afternoon.
Cache find was straightforward.
Cache in order; log signed, safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too Big Grin

15-Mar-15
3rd find during my quick walk over the hill today. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.

07-Mar-15
Third time lucky with this one. Decided to go for a walk this morning between forecast rain showers - that idea was most successful as I had fine warm weather all the way and the earlier rain in Wellington hadn't hit here so everything was still dry. This cache was the second of three for the day and now that there's actually something here to find it didn't take long at all. Met up with the huhugrub team when I arrived at GZ, they had walked up from Lees Grove whereas I had come via the Puriri Track. Good to chat again! Signed log, TFTC!

07-Mar-15
#6300. Made a trip to the East Harbour Regional Park this morning before the rain came. Good walk up Lees Grove Track and Rata Ridge Track onto the Main Ridge Track. The place was all quiet today, making for a quick find. Cache was in excellent condition. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.

After we had rehidden the cache, agcnz turned up at GZ. Good to catch up.

Coordinates changed from:
S 41° 15.814 E 174° 55.382

Coordinates changed to:
S 41° 15.814 E 174° 55.378

Distance from original: 18.1 feet or 5.5 meters.
Unfortunately, cache has been muggled. I have replaced it with a 200ml sistema container and have moved the coordinates a bit further from the sign to make it a bit harder to stumble across.

01-Mar-15
Out on mission today to get some caches prev not found and some new ones. Easy find. TFTC

15-Feb-15
Was in the area today and thought to myself that I might as well clean up a couple more of the caches along the tracks in the Wanuiomata area.

Checking my GPS I decided that I would park in Puriri Street and walk up the ridge from there and pick up the new cache that was along the way to this cache, had no issues finding this cache and thought that it was going to be a nice easy day today.

Finally after a bit more of a climb I soon arrived at GZ and then started reading the cache description and then the hint and then the logs, Uhmm this is definitely not going to be easy is it.

My GPS put me at a spot that matched the hint but didnt match the description so this is really confusing, decided to go by the hint first and after a good search still nothing, so decided to go by the description and there was nothing that matched the hint, looked for the obvious then the unobvious, after searching for over half an hour it was time to give up.

AS the pervious cachers stated no damaging of the environment required I searched high and low and far and wide, close and near the sign but still no joy SadSad

I hope that the cache has not being muggled, decided it was time to move on. The CO may need to go and do a check as I really think there has definitely being prior visits to GZ by other cachers that have not logged a DNF as there were other signs off searching at GZ.Surprised [8)]

Checked again after I went to get another cache along the ridge and had another quick look on my way back to the car but still no joy, oh well maybe next time[B)]

15-Feb-15
Will head up that way on the weekend to check out if cache is still in place.

19-Jan-15
Either this one is too clever for me and I'm having a bad day or it's no longer there. Searched for quite a long time, it shouldn't have been that difficult!

13-Jan-15
This was the goal of Today's caching expedition, to find this one whilst it is 'fresh'. Decided to swap climb for distance, so strolled in along the ridge track with the Simonster. No vegetation was harmed in the finding of this cache. Decided it deserved a FP for the clever hide and giving me some much needed exercise. TFTC.

FTF with Lamb.fam
It was very obvious so it could be easily muggled. Hid it so it was a bit better camoed. Fantastic cache container. TFTC
