Walked the tunnel loop track as the first stop in a long weekend trip to Waihi. Another straightforward find here; the last of the loop for us. Really enjoyed the caches along this track. TFTC
Mrs, Mini & Micro had gone off ahead so I grabbed this solo. Quick and easy and another smilie for the day. Was the last of our morning walk though as I didnt want to keep holding everyone up! Loved the tunnel walk. Thanks for the wait for me! cache.
After the long, dark, cold walk through the tunnel, grabbed this one on the way back to the parking lot. Thanks!
Found it after some unnecessary bushwhacking. Log was a little soggy and falling apart. Location is gorgeous!
Day adventure to Karangahake Gorge, we thought we should collect some caches along the way! Quick diversion off the track, and the cache was secured in hand. TFTC
Out and about with the whole family doing the windows walk. Great walk, very recommendable!!!Did some nice caches on our way. This was one of them. Quickly found. Thanks for hiding and maintaing. Tftc

TFTC nice quick find on the way back to the van after a fabulous walk around the old mine site
Exploring around Paeroa with rattll during the long weekend, visited Karangahake to complete the Windows Walk adlab. Found this one along the way. All good. Signed, and returned as found. Tftc!
Out today enjoying some sunshine, great views, and of course some caching, after doing a nearby adventure lab, it was time for some physical caches. This one took us a little longer to find, but our GPS's had us in slightly the wrong place. Once it settled down a little the cache was a quick and easy grab. All seems to be in good condition. TFTC #1651
We contiued ou roadtrip from Tirau to Thames stopping at a nice hiking trail. Was not easy to park the cacr, we had not expected so many people to be here. So we parked a bit away. We took the shorter tunnel loop and found some caches along the route. Thanks for hiding and maintaining the cache.Happy hunting!TFTCschnuckel1[#24251]
After years on our bucket list and three cancellations due to Covid, we are thrilled to finally be here. Following several cruises we flew from Sydney, Australia to Wellington, New Zealand to begin our next adventure. Picked up our rental vehicle and will be driving, exploring, hiking, and caching both islands for 3.5 weeks. We explored this trail and the tunnel trail. Upon reaching GZ this was a quick find and soon our ink was on the log. Saw a White-Faced Heron along the trail, plus another bird that we will have to research to learn what it was. Thanks for adding to our adventure today, Nukeworker and Racquetball Girl, Arkansas, USA
After fast visiting of Coromandel we are going to Matamata but on the left we saw nice gorge and than nice parking. We stop there for a while and walk few nice walks. Thank you for the cache in this amazing place.
Visiting the Karangahake Gorge on the way to Matamata we could find this cache.TFTC
Great hint! Fun to geocache while enjoying a nice walk. Only a couple steps off the main trail. TFTC!
Today we are visiting this area and this geocache we did find, thanks for placing the cache.Greetings from team Camperfietser
Nobody about so made a nice quick find. Great hint as there were several possibilities. TFTC
Kings Bday and we are down at Waihi Beach. We came for a walk in the gorge, and ofc went geocaching! Not as successful as I was hoping, due to slips and closed tracks. We managed 2 tho!
This was a quick find! TFTC!

Last cache for the day, easy find at GZ using the hint by Mr8. Once again, used a spare logbook and zipbag, as the one in the cache couldn't be written on. Container was in good condition. We had too many cyclones this year for caches to stay dry. Thanks for placing this along the way!
On our 6 weeks tour trough NZ we found this cache. Unfortunately the paper is wet.

Quick find, last for the day as heading back to car park. Log very wet so hard to sign. Tftc
TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 6 - We are now based for the next little while at Pauanui on the Coromandel Peninsula. Today was a big day we set off quite early and explored Paeroa before heading to Karangahake Gorge and undertaking the full return walk to Waikino- Victoria Battery. It took about one hour to get to Paeroa and it was a nice drive at that time of day as the sun was rising , it was definitely a good example of the “land of the long white cloud” as we made our way through the mountains. Once at Paeroa we explored the town in the best possible way by undertaking the three Adventure Labs that are there. The third one being the legendary L and P one which finished at the L and P cafe where we had a lovely brunch . Next we parked up at the beginning of Karangahake Gorge ready for our big adventure. Along the way we also walked back and forward through the tunnel, checked out one of the waterfalls, explored the old gold town and industrial operations at waikino, really enjoyed the walk and collected all up 14 geocaches and 2 Adventure Labs. Total caches for day 17 traditional, multi, virtual and questions and 25 Adventure Lab elements. Great day all round.

This was our fourth actual cache find of the day along with lots of Adventure Labs. We have just started the walk , it actually quite bust with muggles walking in both directions. A little bit of stealth needed here. Thanks for the cache vectis

Lovely shade on this track along the river. A nice view and chance to get away from the Beach Hop traffic, noisy lot of vehicles when traveling thru the confines if the gorge.
A plan was made with Gorby, tramyard and rustynz for an overnight road trip to Waikato/BOP. We targeted Karangahake Gorge, Waihi, Katikati and Mount Maunganui/Tauranga.
On the way back to the carpark towards the end of our Karangahake Gorge walk. Walked right past GZ busy talking, then had to wait for some muggles walking their dogs to pass by and not make it look like we were following them as we backtracked about 20m. Cache found quickly once we were at GZ.

I’m on a 2 day adventure with fellow cachers from Auckland, rustynz, Aiden29 and tramyard. Aiden is our driver in her car, and today we’re walking along the Karangahake valley, picking up trads and adventure labs. Tonight we’re staying at Athenree campground in 4 tents between us, then tomorrow Katikati and Tauranga. Great fun.
Rusty found this while Aiden was making sure her boots did not get wet. Now, off to the car and we heading to Waihi gradually.

During our way to south, we stopped in Karangahake to visit the famous gorge, but unfortunately it was closed. So we did a little walk and signed some traditionals.

Apologies but completed these caches a few weeks ago and forgot to log them. Completed with Keylev.TFTC
Having finished a section of the HRT today we were now ready to tidy up a few of the others in the area before heading home.
Found a couple that met the hint item guidelines but only one held the cache.
Thanks for the cache.

Apologies to the CO.I found this cache a while ago but stopped caching for a while due to the pandemic, and this find was left as a draft on my app.TFTC
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at the NZMCA Campsite in Waihi Beach … we decided that we would have a wander around the Karangahake Windows Walk & pick up a cache or two … this was the only cache we managed to get anywhere close to … so many muggles wandering around … found with no issues, log completed & returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,609 for us.
A nice quick find this time, and then it was on to meet mr rattll at the hall, where I'd pick up the bike and cycle back to Paeroa.
Thanks for putting this here

Had to wait for some walkers to pass before looking. It was a quick find thanks to the hint. Thanks for hiding vectis.
A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. The weather was mostly dry today, a bonus. We cruised from Waihi Beach to Paeroa, me on the bike down the HRT trail. A really nice bike ride.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Just completed the tunnel walk and managed to walk straight past this one before we realised and backtracked to get it. Easy find. Thanks
Funny, found it and some other trade items. Good fun, thanks for the cache!
Went and did the walk as a family outing with the husband and 4 year old today.
Nice quick find, small container inside the other one, wonder if the previous “2” have been put back into one?

Ok so this one was interesting! 2 of my finders each found a container in a different tree at GZ at exactly the same time!!! So we signed both logs and put one back in each spot they each thought they had the correct one which was so funny
Well that was funny! We found 2 cache containers in different spots only one with a log book. Have put them both back where they were lol
Had to go to the additional parking so found this on our walk back to the main area. Quick find between muggle groups.
The Hauraki Rail Trail is closed while the Covid 19 rahui is in place. Anyone geocaching during this time is putting themselves and others at risk by handling the containers, stash and logs. So this cache is disabled until this present emergency ends. I reserve the right to disable any logs dated after the lockdown started.
On our wonderful camper trip around this amazing country we visited so many beautiful places an stunning landscapes. A amidst these hills, mountains, beaches and grass lands were also a few boxes waiting for us to be discovered. This one was one of them.
Thanks for hiding

Durant notre trip en Nouvelle Zélande, nous nous arrêterons sur quelques caches pour jaunir un peu le pays !
Ce circuit mériterait une belle maintenance générale d'après moi.
Merci pour la cache...

I had a quick look for this cache back in 2015 using old coordinates, unaware that it had been moved. Today, I made an immedaite find.
Our 2nd joint find, again the little ones found quickly whilst the adults were still reading the description. The log was saturated so we dried out container and added a new dry paper.
Nice day for a walk in this area. Lots of muggles around so spent a little more time than we should have to find. The log is absolutely saturated so did not sign and did not have anything on us. TFTF
