TFTC - on our way home from camping at dickeys flat! Has been amazing to escape 1 month before Xmas for a family trip Lovely caches along this walk thank you
We found it, although the GPS didn't help us much. And the pouring rain didn't make it easier .But we found it!TFTC, dky za ke!
Walked the tunnel loop track as the first stop in a long weekend trip to Waihi. Cleverly hidden; easy to overlook at first but spotted it after a second pass. TFTC
Day adventure to Karangahake Gorge, we thought we should collect some caches along the way! This one took a lot of back-and-forth searching; co-ords were not very accurate, so we had to rely on the hint! Which fortunately helped us find the gold! Neat wee cache, no troll hiding here today!
Out and about with the whole family doing the windows walk. Great walk, very recommendable!!!Did some nice caches on our way. This was one of them. Glad that it wasn't difficult to find and the troll wasn't at home. Nice cache! Thanks for hiding and maintaing. Tftc
Out and about with the shoebs family once again. We'll that took longer than we thought. But found it by sharp eyes Mrs Shoebs once again.TFTC
No trolls but a cache - yay! We were again searching all around before finding it. GPS off a bit again. TFTC
Once we found the right part of the troll house, a quick spot from K. Happy with that! Brilliant cache! TFTC
The cache is now accessible from the tunnel end and the gate has been reopened. Be careful!
Away for the weekend to ride a section of the Hauraki Rail Trail from Waihi. This afforded me the opportunity to snag some caches en route. This was my furthest point of my trip today before heading back to Waihi for the night. I saw this cache was currently disabled but walkers were coming and going along the path so I figured Id take a look. Absolutely no dramas accessing from the tunnel end but given the possible uncertainty over the caches wellbeing I scrambled down to take a look. Not strictly necessary if you have a keen eye. Thanks vectis for reenabling this cache and my apologies for not connecting the dots when we met on Sunday. #5083Logged using Cachly.
This section of the track is closed due to a massive slip. I will disable this until the track reopens.
After crossing the landslide, we noted a car in the gorge, it could only be seen from that part of the track. We then read the story about the young boy who stole it, wreck it (without injuring himself) and how the flood carried it up to here. It is sad the owner can't get any refund for it or have it removed. Insurance is a waste until you need it. Once again, we walked past the cache, our pace is faster than the refresh rate of my phone GPS (or my phone is really slow, getting old and tired). Walking back, I kept repeating the hint, looking for a suitable location, and then, I knew where to look, found it and both container and logbook were in good condition. Mr8 made sure we didn't lose any piece while I was logging it.
Went past it again and saw I never logged this cache. Out here with the family from SA. Windows walk closed today
TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 6 - We are now based for the next little while at Pauanui on the Coromandel Peninsula. Today was a big day we set off quite early and explored Paeroa before heading to Karangahake Gorge and undertaking the full return walk to Waikino- Victoria Battery. It took about one hour to get to Paeroa and it was a nice drive at that time of day as the sun was rising , it was definitely a good example of the “land of the long white cloud” as we made our way through the mountains. Once at Paeroa we explored the town in the best possible way by undertaking the three Adventure Labs that are there. The third one being the legendary L and P one which finished at the L and P cafe where we had a lovely brunch . Next we parked up at the beginning of Karangahake Gorge ready for our big adventure. Along the way we also walked back and forward through the tunnel, checked out one of the waterfalls, explored the old gold town and industrial operations at waikino, really enjoyed the walk and collected all up 14 geocaches and 2 Adventure Labs. Total caches for day 17 traditional, multi, virtual and questions and 25 Adventure Lab elements. Great day all round.

This was our ninth cache find of the day along with several Adventure Labs. We collected this on the way back because on the way there there were too many muggles around. Nice hide in a beautiful spot along the river. Thanks for the cache vectis

A plan was made with Gorby, tramyard and rustynz for an overnight road trip to Waikato/BOP. We targeted Karangahake Gorge, Waihi, Katikati and Mount Maunganui/Tauranga.
Tramyard had found all the other caches along the walkway except for this one. I was happy to spy the cache quickly hanging out and avenge a previous DNF.

I’m on a 2 day adventure with fellow cachers from Auckland, rustynz, Aiden29 and tramyard. Aiden is our driver in her car, and today we’re walking along the Karangahake valley, picking up trads and adventure labs. Tonight we’re staying at Athenree campground in 4 tents between us, then tomorrow Katikati and Tauranga. Great fun.
It was good having 4 pairs of eyes, can't remember who found this one, but I know I found at least 2 along this walkway, thanks for placing the cache vectus.

We found this cache during day one.
I had two DNFs here! Glad to mark it off finally thanks to more experienced Finders
I`m logging this entry as my 9839 find.

Sneaky little bugger! Missed it on the way down and grabbed it on the way back. TFTC
I was finally back I. The area and it was a nice quick find to turn a frown upside down after failing to find this 3 years ago
A lovely quite day in the gorge and a quick find for us here at this very beautiful spot.Knew what we were looking for and there it was.Nice hide.
Apologies but completed these caches a few weeks ago and forgot to log them. Completed with Keylev.TFTC
Luckily it was quiet here today so could have a good look. Found in a sneaky spot. Tftc
Last one for me along here, before doubling back down the track to where I'm parked. Nice sneaky hide here, but soon in hand, TFTC
It didn't take too long to spot the container. Thankfully there weren't any muggles around while I was here.
Thanks for putting this here for me to find

A nice quick find thanks. Took a wee detour before the tunnel for this one.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. The weather was mostly dry today, a bonus. We cruised from Waihi Beach to Paeroa, me on the bike down the HRT trail. A really nice bike ride.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

H looked from the top and me from the bottom. Wasn’t long till we had it in hand. Cool perspective of the main road from here
We were in the area today to find a few caches and avenge a few DNFs and this was one of them. We were last here at Easter just over two years ago and it was so busy we had to abandon the search.
It turned out to be almost as busy today, we really didn't think it through very well coming here on another long weekend, but this time we were determined to make the find.
After many stops and starts as we paused to let muggles pass we decided to focus on where we would hide the cache and then spotted it almost immediately.
Retrieval was a little bit tricky as the muggles continued to pass with great regularity but we managed it in the end.
So pleased to turn this one into a smiley. Thanks vectis.

Went and did the walk as a family outing with the husband and 4 year old today.
Very quick find - great hint and little hands help but not a must, young knees do help

Been in Auckland visiting family. Now heading home. Stayed in Paeroa last night at the railway reserve. This morning headed to the Gorge to deal with some sad faces. Nice place to take the dog for a walk. Thanks for the cache.
Lucky we had some little hands with us nice quick find once we looked in the right place
Wahoo! Another one where i thought it should have been the last 2 times. Thanks!
Heading up to Northland to meet the kids for the Christmas holidays. Had time to walk part of the HRT trail with the geohound. Sadly had no joy here. Will watch.
The Hauraki Rail Trail is closed while the Covid 19 rahui is in place. Anyone geocaching during this time is putting themselves and others at risk by handling the containers, stash and logs. So this cache is disabled until this present emergency ends. I reserve the right to disable any logs dated after the lockdown started.
We were on the way south from Thames to Rotorua. Made a stop here at this stunning landscape and walked the old way. Thanks for all the caches here.

Headed up and around the hill today to grab a few caches that I could, nice day in the cool of the morning, day warming up so now to grab a few on the flat
thanks for the placement
thanks for the placement
Between 4 of us we couldn’t find this one. Each had a turn under the bridge but still no luck.
Having read previous logs I decided to go off the path and under the bridge. A bit dicey and not advised. You don’t need to go off the path to retrieve this cache. Trust the coordinates and search around for things that don’t belong. Better than slipping off and not living to tell your caching tales! TFTC
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Was difficult here. This cache can be seen in two different ways. If searching under the bridge then the cache is a 1.5 difficulty and 4 terrain (this is the one we went for) or searching from above the bridge is a 4.5 difficulty and 1.5 terrain. And I agree that this is the most my GPS had played up. But from doing a few from the cache owners his vivid hints and 1.5 almost always across the board makes him abit of a troll himself. Regardless I appreciate the caches being placed alot and we don't mind a challenge. Tftc.
We experienced the worst GPS bouncing we have ever seen here today and that coupled with a flurry of easter muggles made us decide to come back another time.
I am traveling with my daughter Lucinka mundlinka and son Negrritos across the New Zealand. We are from Prague, Czech Republic. We love "geocaching", the main target is caches )
Many beautiful caches, amazing and unforgettable experiences, thank all owners, TFTC )

Today we wanted to explore this historic site. My brother had the idea. Unfortunately, it rained heavily the whole time. In the tunnels this was not bad, but on the way we were already very wet. The caching was not so easy with a wet cell phone. We were able to find almost all caches on the way. **This one is not here.** The logbooks are all wet.
The trails themselves are very interesting and exciting. It's a bit scary to walk around in an old mine. But I had my companions for safety. Thanks for putting these caches in such an interesting place.

Day 23 in Newzealand. Today we drove from Omokoroa to Whitianga. We visited Hobbiton, the Tunnel in Karangahake, the Mine in Waihi and made a kayak Tour to Donut Island.
A very beautiful Country with lovely places. We were able to find nice Caches and See Lots of beautiful places.
Thank you for showing us this place.

Well this was another tricky find. But with a GPS that bounced which end? Then looked at terrain? Hmm I would hide it this way and there it was. Not a quick find, but happy to get a smiley in between the muggles. Rebel98 was pleased too
Tricky. Rustynz eating those carrots and with super vision found it. First to sign new log
We were having a lovely walk but not doing too well on the caching front - this was our third DNF in the first four caches! Talk about rusty.... We had a good look on the way out and on the way back but nope.
Unfortunately we search low and lower for this cache and come up trumps. We did find the old one (or what’s left of it), does that count ?
Unfortunately after a reasonable search we didn't find this one and couldn't afford to spend too much time searching.

When i saw the gantry bridge get dismantled while driving past, i’d hoped the CO got here in time to rescue the cache. This cache will definitely be gone
recent replacement of this bridge and walkway section may have moved this cache so didn't spend to much time after seeing last dnf.
Passing through Karangahake on my way to Te Aroha, I was in two minds as to whether to stop, as this one has defeated me twice before. Today, though, a quick bike through the tunnel and a brisk walk to GZ and I spotted the telltale within a minute of arriving. Very glad to turn this blue face yellow. TFTC.
We were here in June of last year - and try as we could, we failed to find it back then.
Returned today, after having a read of the logs, and had a clear idea of what we were looking for. And was it easy? No.... hunted and hunted, and at last ... there it was - devilishly hard to spot! Excellent hide in a fabulous spot, thanks very much for the placement. The log sheet was very wet, so we replaced it for you - hope that's ok?

This pesky cache again! So glad to FINALLY be able to get a smiley on this one, Have looked for this one 3 times previously to no avail. Out with FamiliaJost so many eyes involved with the search. About to give up yet again when hey presto the magical sneaky hide was discovered. Love it! Thanks for the smiley and thanks for the cache - a Fav from me!
Found with Flipdags team on one of the nice days of our holidays, quick find TFTC Fav point for this one, great hide

Our 3rd dot day in a row that needed filling, luckily a trip to Thames to pick up some ornamental garden pieces was on the cards today so some caching was added in to the mix to fill the day and break up the journey there and back.
After doing the UV Multi we carried on back to the van along the trail picking up this series of Not The HRT Walkway caches, thoroughly enjoyed the lot of them, thanks!!

Doing the loop track decided to give this another crack. Noting recent activity had finally unearthed it I was confident of finding it. Arrive at gz. Went over what I had already gone over on previous visits certain I had to be looking in the right place. And sure enough what I was looking for appeared magically. Pleased to finally give this one the smiley. Today has been about finding the ones I couldn't find before. Tftc
