We were taking a couple of our grandsons to Raetihi in the Kenepuru Sound for the long weekend. We thought we would break up the drive by stopping for a few caches along the way. I spotted this cache that we had not found, and since it is a bumandworker with a dnf we thought we had better fo for a wee walk to see if we could find it before it gets archived. We soon arrived at the area and started looking. The area was a bit worse for wear but the coordinates were perfect so we soon spotted a likely looking gz. Sure enough there was a familiar container and the log inside was still in great condition.Yay another bumandworker cache to add to the tally.Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley
On our way to Kenepuru sound for the weekend with Nana and Grandad, they said we could stop and find a few caches along the way. Thanks for this cache

iNothing resembling the hint & I tried a few other likely spots before several muggles arrived to have a cup of tea. Oh well.
Just another day on the T.A. Today I walked between 1766km at the saddle above Portage to 1805 at Havelock. A massive day walking, but mainly easy, nicely graded track allowing around a 5km an hour pace... not a lot of time for caching, but if the location allowed for a break, well, that's game on isn't it.Luckily for me, we were suitably in need of a rest break when passing by here, and benches on trail are an absolute no brainer. After a quick sit down and a snack, the hunt was on. I didn't have any luck at first, but as I moved further in I soon found something that looked distinctly "hidey". Success! Log signed, cache returned, its time to get hiking again. I am pleased to have found this one, it turned out to be my only find for the day.My thanks to bum and worker for placing this cache, its great to have caches he's along this great track to break up the walking a bit, good fun and great to get a smiley. Cheers -- This log is trackable ! ---- Feel free to discover ---- Please mention, in which cache you've seen this code: ---- 3TABQX --
The only find I had the energy for in todays final day of the walk. A few more people about today made trying for others difficult so it was nice to grab this one. Tftc
Spent a good 10 mins or so with 2 of us looking, but we started feeling the time pressure and gave up without making a find here
Enjoying the track and the caches. Soon located before heading of to the next one. TFTC
A quick detour from our walk over the saddle for a coffee and cache. Although it might have been reasonable to expect the GZ to be quiet, with the current travel restrictions it appears that many New Zealanders are using the opportunity to do things they haven't done before - like walking the Queen Charlotte Track. We had three different groups pass by whilst at the GZ. Completed formalities and replaced as found. Thanks b&w for another cache.
Had a good search for this one around both picnic tables and signs, reviewed logs and D/T rating, the area looks like it's had a good tidy up with all spick and span for the local tourist season and even in the early morning there were a good few people on the trail. After sometime, I found both hint items in separate places. Given it has been over a year since last find opted to replace cache and email CO. It's a lovely spot and while the trees have grown up so you don't get views from the picnic tables anymore, the perfect size to get the map out and reflect on the next leg over some scroggin. Thanks to the generous benefactor of the lovely tables and for DOC and local community getting them in place.
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find????SL tm/ww NZ (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)Long drive / walk around today, we enjoyed the caches.*We soon had another good cache located!*
This was one of those caches where I checked everywhere except the place where it was hidden before finding it. TFTC!
We were expecting a long search for the post but CatNich was on it in a flash. Now for lunch. Left Anakiwa at 0915, now 1315, so not bad for 13k and caching as well.
Our planned walk today was from Anakiwa through to Portage hotel, some 22K. We knew there were multiple caches en route and we aimed to get as many as we could. We only had two DNFs and we noticed a variety of cache owners setting different and creative hides. Unfortunately it rained for the first two hours but then dried up with good walking conditions. Thanks are due to them all.

Almost put off by the D rating but using the description and hint I couldn’t see any difficulty here, and had found it within a minute. And a great place for lunch too! TFTC
.A short walk down QCT to get this one snagged and tagged. Cheers. Love the seat/table here.
So with Mt Cawte behind, its time to explore further down these sounds. Lovely day to be out and about.

Had a good look but couldn’t find the post with a rock with a GC hiding away.
Had a quick hunt on both legs of this return trip from Anakiwa but no luck. Couldn't spend too much time as my fellow trampers were setting a brisk pace. Will be back as there are others that I have not yet had a chance to look for.
Five years ago I walked this track as part of Te Araroa. Back today to find a cache. Tftc
Our first Kiwi cache while walking the Queen Charlotte Track. Feels like paradise. Log was too damp to sign with pencil, but thanks for bringing us here.
Well, that's weird. I am up here originally with the aim of collecting empty log books, but Bum beat me to that so I took the T4 option to collect the Kumutoto caches. And now I am stopping for a few along the way back. Like this one that I could not find last time I was here, about 18 months ago. I had read up on the logs and description and now have a better idea as to what to look for, but when I got herer I first decided to check the obvious place, where I first looked a long time ago. And found it there! Weird! Why could I not see that before? Had the cache been replaced? No. Maybe it was just buried under a layer of pine needles and I simply missed it. I've been stumped by that before. Well, it's nice to turn that blue frowny into a nice bright shiney yellow smiley.
Day 4 of our Queen Charlotte Walk bike ride and really feeling the muscles today. Had to trust GPS to find this one. Log a bit damp so left a dry sheet in zip lock as well. TFTC bumandworker
Lovely stop at Mistletoe Bay for lunch, weather awesome for all four days of our tramp. TFTC
I'll take a generous D4, thank you very much.
Happily able to grab 45 minutes respite from the school camp, I sidled up the hill from Mistletoe Bay to look for the couple of caches at the top of the hill.
A quick find nearby at the start of this section of track gave me plenty of time to have a good hunt for this cache which had been reported missing in action.
I'm guessing that some rain since it's last find had pushed the container down the fence-line a little and buried it under pine needles and other bush-floor stuff, but after a root around I spotted a familiar looking container which I opened, dried out, signed an returned as the hint suggested, albeit with a hefty rock on top to hold things in place a while longer.

This one took a bit of searching to find and it was almost a lucky grab in the end. Tftc.
Another find with Maike of Maikenkids. Poor Mr W was cooped up in the car with the kids. Took a long time to lay our hands on this one but we got there. TFTC.
Out cruising the Sounds with Biggles today. A nice walk to gz. We searched quite a few spots without success. Read a few logs and found some useful ideas. Tried a different approach and easily spotted the container once in the right place to see it.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

Our on a looong and winding road trip with Kiwi Explorer today. Trying to find as many of the caches in these sounds as we could get to. Also nice to explore in the new KE Cachemobile. After finding the new cache down in Mistletoe Bay, we drove back up the road to the track entrance. The signs about track pass requirements are a bit confusing but were clarified once we got to GZ. Very nice spot with chairs and things in the bush. It took quite a search of both sides of the track before Mr KE finally got to the right angle of approach and spotted the cache. TFTC, Biggles.
Found on a bit of a spur of the moment trip into the sounds before it gets any colder. Enjoyed the peaceful short walk and all the accompanying bird song. Surprised to find the beautiful picnic tables here. Now for the drive down to the bay for lunch. TFTC #8462
Out for a walk on the QC track from Mistletoe Bay to Anakiwa. Beautiful day and only a couple of caches to get along the way. This was number 2. On arrival close to GZ I came across 2 foreign muggles sitting at the seat... didn't look like they were moving anytime soon - so I braved it and gave them a quick explanation as to why I was darting into the bush in behind them.
My GPS was a bit all over the place - but with a bit of bush bashing and backtracking I managed to locate the cache. Gave the guys a quick smile and on my way pretty quickly.
Cache was well hidden - not much chance of being muggled here.

NZDi and I booked a holiday home in Broughton Bay for six days for a family holiday to get over the madness that is Christmas. Our daughter and her partner and our son and his wife and our granddaughter were all present for some of the time and as such the focus was on family rather than caching.
However we still managed to find time to get 25 caches along with three DNFs (Grrr) in the time we were away without impacting too much on the family focus of the break.
After our success with the ‘Broughton Bay’ cache and with the first of the family not arriving for another three or four hours, we decided to take a walk over to Te Mahia and Mistletoe Bay to pick up a few other caches. This was No. 3 find on the first day of our holiday and the CO will be pleased to know that the cache is still in place and surprisingly the coordinates were reasonably accurate once eagle-eyed NZDi found the cache and we sat the GPS down next to it.

Increase "D" GPS will struggle too.
although, one of the DNF is obviously looking in wrong place.
This cache will still be there...return as found please.

[green] What a day! First I decide to go to the sounds, mainly to do two caches that I had missed earlier, and place one while I was out that way, Then I find I hav a corrupted load in my GPS, I can navigate, but a description or hint causes it to lock up. Luckily I have my cellphone, so I load all the caches that I might do into that, then half the time leave it in the car (which is okay, usually I don't need a hint, but reading the description is often nice). I expected the trip to up to Titirangi to be mostly dirt road and long distances, but was rather surprised at how far the seal went, and how far Titirangi isn't, really. Not that I got there. I tossed up staying the night and continuing Sunday, but decided not. Saved for another day.
Lucky I brought the cellphone with me on this one. Lots of fence posts (this is obviously old farmland) but no cache

Nice to have a (short) stroll on the Queen Charlotte Track and it was a lot flatter than anticipated. Great views along the way as well. Liked the seats near GZ but we didn't take advantage of them - caches to find.
We had a bit of trouble finding the right hint object. I did look in the right place early on in the search, but the covering material was itself obscured so failed to see it. In the end, StreetWalker spotted the covering material, and I managed to retrieve the cache from the "wrong" side of the fence (had to watch the barbs, though), while he was on the "right" side. Interesting about the track pass needed for sections of the track - lucky I wasn't caught without one . TFTC.

#10249. The parking was pretty hopeless near the turn off, so we drove a little further and found a good park a little past the start of the track. We then had an enjoyable stroll to GZ, where it took quite some time to track down the cache. TFTC.
Loved the seats but didn't explore the wet bush very far.
Only a big spider under the best rock.

Had to skip this one. A late start to the day so no geocaching for me

A nice wee hide after we sorted the posts out. Groovy picnic tables with an awesome view. Once again, bumandworker TFTC
Found this cache on a day out at some bays. The sun was shining and we were getting sunburnt... Nevertheless we had an awesome time caching & sightseeing. Found this cache with capperz, refer to his log for more detail etc. Thanks for placing this cache, T F T C
Yay, it's Earthcache day and souvenir as a reward. That is unless you're greedy capperz who's already done most of the Earth Caches around and would need an epic day out just to gain some electronic bling. Oh well, a trip to Kenepuru Sounds it is and try and push my total along to 4500 so only 4 caches to get there. Weather dawned bright, clear and hot and nightowl19 was along for the trip though Tally the geo dog was left at home as a few P n Gs were planned and a few diverse walkways with assorted dogs allowed rules.
Into the Sounds for the rest of the trip and plenty of wonderful scenery to behold and remind us of how great our backyard really is
A quick trot along the track for this and was nightowl19's first NZ great walk excursion, all 600m round-trip of it

Phew that took a while. This little cache has been out here all alone for some time now. I've managed to get a FTF all week, and this is the closest one left. Nice spot along a windy road. Would hate to drive it every day, but there are some from work that do. Hint eventually made sense once I stopped to think. A successful *FTF*. T F T C b&w
Glad I managed to find it before requiring a hint or having to come back. Quite a drive tonight.
