Hi 2y'stassies. Today we found your cache on the Devo trip for the year. VK7HCH and I hatched yet another plan to whip it up to the north to continue our plundering of caches both GC and GCA. As there are so many caches in this area we had freedom of choice to do those we wished to. We have solved a few puzzles so we can find those and lots of others. Although I didnt find the girl U want, the caches were enough. Its a beautiful world here in Tassie. Thanks for hiding the cache for us to find today. Finding this cache takes my GC finds to 5261 and I found it on Saturday 26 Oct 2024FTF: NoMates: VK7HCHMuggles: Condition: GoodWeather: slightly cloudyMy favorites:Creative - Back to the future 1 by peaches (GCA5JYD)Hardest - Men in Black Holes by SG-3 (Archived)Most visited - Dragons Lair by Shagzter (GC2E33)Tractable also visited your cache
Thanks 2y'stassies for placing Waiting For The Ferry: The Breakwater. Swampy and I headed back to plunder more of the Northern coast over the Hobart Show long weekend. 4 day long weekend for 1 days annual leave. Sweet. This is day 23 Devonport and surrounds. At least my log is not full of bad 80s references. This run has us finding both GC and GCA caches. So many caches, so little time. This is my GC find #2203 and was found on 26/10/2024 at 18:02It took 3 trips and a PF but we got there. Came back to this one before Lil Rafas event and well even with some intel no cigar. However with Mr Hancocks assistance we made a group find after the event. Hoorah. TFTC 2ystassies
Thanks for the cache 2y'stassies. Ah, this cache......I've been here a few times although I think I've only logged one DNF. I knew it was there because I kept a watch on it and every now and then I'd get a notification that if had been found, and then you would also log an owner maintenance and advise that it was still there....it was just a matter of tapping and tapping and tapping. Well today presented an excellent opportunity - I was holding an event nearby (hmmm, did I choose the location of the event, only a few minutes away from this cache deliberately.....yes, I did). I raised the question as to whether anyone else at the event had found this cache very early on in the event - it turns out, another attendee had been there immediately before and they still hadn't found it! But we were in luck, the Hancock Clan were in attendance and they had found the cache so a plan was made to reconvene at GZ for this cache immediately after the event for a group search. As soon as the end time for the event ticked over, we were off ! It was a lovely afternoon - but we would have made an interesting sight, all of us with our sticks, tap tap tapping in the sand Eventually it was found! Hurrah! It was really good to find this with everyone. Finally, this one becomes a smiley.
Avenge on cache and then add a dnf 300m away. I set is a 20 minute time limit on this one which turned into 28 minutes (hoping for quitters luck ) sadly we didnt unearth the cache. Will be back on Saturday for another look and will PAF back in SA too. I know its there just couldnt spot it. TFTH 2ystassies
Oh my goodness we finally found it. This was awesome, thx so much for the additional tips, we had to ask for....3rd times the charm
No luck again today.....tapping out on this one.... even asked for help, still no luck.....
This morning we did a maintenance run on some caches from the "Waiting For The Ferry" series. Of the seven we checked, all were in place and in good condition (except for one having a spilt plastic bag).Given that the last four logs were DNFs, we checked on this one today. All is well. Yes, it is difficult to locate and requires perseverance.
During our two-month trip through New Zealand and Australia, our visit to Cradle Mountain and Tasmania has already come to an end. Tonight, we sail back to the mainland with the night boat.We arrived early in Devonport and before the boat leaves there is still time for some cache in the area. This cache was not found during that tour.**2y'stassies**, thanks for the cache.
We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Singapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. We had about three weeks in New Zealand which went by too quickly. The remaining five weeks are spent in Australia. The last days were spent in Cradle Mountain which we absolutely loved. Today we drove to Devonport and tonight the Spirit of Tasmania will ferry us back to the mainland. It is lovely weather and we arrived rather early. So plenty of time for a nice walk along the coast. Apperently we had some starting problems because we weren't able to find the first three caches of this seres we visited. Luckily we then picked ourselves up and the rest of the caches we visited of this series were all found. Thanks to this series we had a excellent walk and a very enjoyable time while waiting for the ferry. Thank you very much for this series.
Went back twice over 2 days did a lot of tapping. Only to find nothing. We had 4 people searching. We might have been searching in the wrong place but we could not find it either way.
An evening drive to Devonport for some fresh air. I have a broken toe and have been feeling very restless! Ive never been great at sitting still and I hoped a tiny beach walk would help, without pushing too far. Well I basically didnt move! Spent a good hour combing the ground and tapping. Feeling like I was going insane. despite a much appreciated hint from the CO i still came out empty handed! Oh well at least I kept still rather than breaking doctors orders and going for a walk! Ill be back
Im back in Tassie for another adventure and decide to give this one another go. I had it in my head that I wouldnt find it but entertained myself and GeoCleo as I wandered around in circles looking at, well nothing in particular! You could say I was wandering aimlessly, not even looking for the cache when I seen something..OMG I dont believe it, I found it Im guessing I just had to believe in my geo-guides to get me to GZ.TFTC 2ystassiesKeep smiling
TFTC. Cache and contents in excellent condition. I had come to GZ fully expecting a DNF as it is my first attempt. Could this be the cache that would surpass Devil No.4 for the most visits (5).I took my phone and gps ready to mark out a 3m inspection zone but instead I simply bend down found the hide and had the cache in hand in under 30 seconds. We all say it but some days.
Just in case it had gone missing since our check a week ago, Mrs y'stassie went today. The cache is in place. The comment in our previous Maintenance log still apply.
Searched for ages tapped everything No idea if we were even in the right We will come back again next time on the coastMight just be too hard for us
We checked this on the way home this evening. It is still there and in good condition. This is not a "Park&Grab" hide. It requires the correct interpretation of the hint and then systemmatic searching using the hint. The coordinates are accurate.
Had a bit of time before the ferry but not sure what to tap so didn't make the find even after tapping everything we could see at GZ.
Another attempt to find this tricky hide but still no luck. Maybe on my next visit I’ll have more luck and tap in the right spot.

Straight off the ferry to this nemesis cache after a little bit of a hint during the Rutherglen Mega event! It still took us a while but we got there in the end. Superb camo! A very satisfying find and deserves a FP on this stunning Tasmanian morning. TFTC!

While in Deveonport today for the motor show we called by here on our way home to try our luck again after an unsuccessful attempt back in February.
We’ve noted the cache has just been found so it had to be there somewhere. On hands and knees we searched checking everything around the area. At first, it seemed like our luck hadn't changed - the cache remained elusive.
We expanded our search out about 3 meters from where the GPS pointed. But then, just as we were about to give up, a particular object caught our eye. Could it be? Sure enough, there it was. What a cool sneakily disguised container.
Inside, we found the logbook and added our name to the list, once done we carefully placed the cache back in its spot.
We walked away from this with excitement and pure delight that we’d finally found it. Thank you 2y’stassies for hiding this gem and giving us the opportunity to find it.

My Tassie adventure begins and the first couple of caches I can’t find!! I really hope this is not what my whole trip is going to be like. Oh well, it only means I will have to come back and try again another day.

Congratulations Calypso62 on finding Breakwater. The photo you sent is certainly the cache. Yes, it is difficult to find - your description of finding the cache is spot on. The coordinates are accurate. Systemmatic searching is essential. Good luck to others who try.

This will be my last find in Tassie as we begin our journey home by boarding the Spirit of Tasmania tomorrow morning.
What a beauty it is!!!
I arrived at GZ and discovered nothing of significance. With all the DNFs, I expected as much. And so began a methodical search. After 20min, I was still none the wiser. I kept widening my search area but kept coming back to where my GPSr was pointing. After a few more minutes, I did tap.... and I did find. So pleased to put this one to bed as my last Tassie find.
I messaged the CO with a photo to confirm the cache is still in play.
Love the camouflage so adding a Favourite Point to your tally.
We've had a great two weeks here sightseeing and find caches.
Thanks for the geo-fun.

This is not an easy cache to find. It requires the systemmatic application of good skills. We are confident that the cache is still there but we will check it out early April when we return to Tassie.
Came and had a look last night, Returned this morning with tap poles and poked around for some time.
Can't see or hear anything unusual within 10m of our GZ.
Not one for us to brag about.

Trying to catch up with some late logs, prior to the Mega, so some travel bugs can get dropped off. Sorry for the generic log.Found this hide while staying around the area. Loved the hide, so given a fav. Thanks 2y'stassies for placing this cache and doing the maintenance, so we can enjoy finding it.
After trying this one a couple of times before we finally found it! Just about to give up but tried one last spot and there it was, TFTC
We are starting to change our caches to Premium Only because we have become increasingly frustrated with some finders who
* have logged a find without signing the logbook
* not taken care by replacing the camo after finding a cache
* shifting the location of a cache to "an easier find"
These unthinking actions have resulted in a significant increase in maintenance, time we could better use for caching.
We had deliberately made our caches available to all who want to cache but as some are not showing respect, we are reluctantly changing many to Premium Only. We apologise to those responsible cachers who are not Premium Members but we have reached the tipping point.

What a fabulous hide!!! It took us a while and we were sure we were wandering in circles and we even gave up on the cords and looked in different places we thought it might have been (should have known that was a mistake). We loved this one and have left a favourite. TFTC

The original cache placement was compromised by a new informal track to the beach. So we have moved the replacement cache a short distance away.

It appears that part of this cache has gone missing. We will check it out in the next few days.

We are spending the day in the North West exploring and collecting as many outstanding and previous dnf caches as practical. It’s a beautiful winters day a full blanket of frost everywhere this morning and as the sun rises the mist does too. Wonderfully crisp and sunny.
Last time we were here it was summertime and there were muggles everywhere. So even though we tried to have a good search it was really quite difficult to do without drawing attention to ourselves. It is one we have said several times that we must get back to and find it. Well today was the day. Absolutely glorious out on the breakwater today and literally not a muggle in site. We set about the search process quite thoroughly examining the gz site inch by inch and within a few minutes we had come up trumps. We are extremely happy to convert this dnf into a happy yellow smiley and we have given it a favourite point for teaching us perseverance in a beautiful setting. TFTC

These caches were a perfect time filler while waiting to board the Spirit of Tasmania we enjoyed a leisurely stroll enjoying the beautiful weather. We enjoyed the variety of hides and had to exercise quite a lot of stealth.
This cache caused a minor headache. I sought help from a previous finder to assist. With a little hint I was back to locate the clever cache. FP from me!
Thank you for placing this cache 2y'stassies.

Waiting for the ferry but didn’t have enough time except for a cursory hunt. Maybe next time
Despite the fire nearby, the cache is there - safe and sound - and waiting to be found. Checked when we got off the Spirit of Tasmania this morning.
On my way back to HBA, i just had to sneak into Devonport to quickly snaffle me a couple of Trads [^]
Parked the GeoMobile nearby and walked to this one. Read the hint on the way and immediately thought of a hide i once found in NSW that was a corker!
At GZ i realized this one was different so i just stopped and waited for the GPS to settle before i started to 'tap' ha ha.
{I have realized over time with hides such as these you can spend 20 minutes or 20 seconds trying to find them... well today i found it on my 2nd tap lol. I was right on GZ it turned out...... yeah... lucky indeed.
Even so the creation was so cool and deserves a Favourite Point.
I have spent over an hour at a hide like this once and still didn't get it.
Take out a Lotto ticket?, yeah-Nah, i think i expelled all my luck in 5 seconds here lol
Thanks for showing me The Breakwater, where there were about 5 or so fisherMuggles just doing their thing taking no notice of me [^] how i like it

Happy for our first Tasmanian cache to be this one.
A hint from the lovely CO’s helped. We were on the right track but didn’t look hard enough last night.

Hello, We found your cache on day #7 of our Lap year trip.
Selling up our hobby farm in South Gippsland and putting everything in storage we are now living on the road full time in our caravan and ‘doing a lap’.
Sorry for the generic log, time, data and reception are all factors in the decision to use a copy and paste log, we will always endeavour to leave a photo or two with each log and always leave a favourite point and unique comment(S) where applicable for the truly outstanding caches.
Earth, Virtual, letterbox handmade and Gadget caches are always at the top of the list for us to find.
Thank you for being one of the CO’s who supplied us with a cache to find today.
Cache in good condition.

Giggle snort, my closest cache on my first night in Tassy and it’s by the lovely P & S - and there is lots of them to find! Yippee!
This one took us a bit to find, guessing we weren't tapping quite hard enough! A quick call to a previous finder was absolutely no help, other than to confirm what we expected, strangely enough just stopping and looking took us straight to the hide & it was quickly located! Unfortunately our GPS was little help! Our time spent searching for this was well rewarded with a fantastic sunset!
We have awarded a favourite for this tricky hide!

We did not approve of the marker that had been added by a "do gooder" - that was removed earlier this month.
Following some problems with some other caches, we were in the area today checking on this and other caches.
All is well here.

Having a lovely walk along the waterfront this morning. A reasonably quick find with the help of an accurate GPS reading and a bit of a marker. Excellent cache. Thanks 2y’stassies.
I wouldnt have found this one if it werent for a local who spotted me and asked, 'are you looking for one of them thingys?' With a nudge in the right direction, I had the cache. TFTC
This was my second attempt at this. Last time my phone kept changing locations and had me tapping in all directions. This time a more accurate gps unit had me right at GZ so a relatively quick find of this unique cache was the result. Thank you for placing and maintaining the cache for for our enjoyment.
We are in quarantine following our return from the mainland. We will not be able to get to the cache until Saturday 11 April at the earliest. If someone could add a small slip of paper as an interim measure, it would be appreciated.
Easy find when you tap in the right place good hide well done. Log full and needs replacing

T-Tech and I are down from Brisbane for a meandering holiday around Tasmania. We flew to Melbourne where we picked up the campervan and spent a day caching there, then took Spirit of Tasmania I to Devonport.
Today is a day exploring Devonport and surrounds. This cache is the closest to our campground. I was glad of a friend's hint about how to locate this one, yet it still took a few minutes to zero in and make the find. TFTC, 2y'stassies.

Found it, It was probably the best geocache we’ve found yet( though we haven’t found many yet) went out in the morning but couldn’t find, went out later and found it by tapping. Thanks for the caches!
Co ords were good and a bit of tapping and we had this one. We traveled over on the Spirit of Tasmania yesterday. Today we have a day in Devonport to look around and get organised for a walk on the Overland Track. We had a bit of spare time in the afternoon so decided with go and find a few of the local caches thanks very much for placing these caches .
A really lovely calm day .... heaps better than the gale blowing last time we were over this way. Took the bikes on the "Ferry across the Mersey" and along with my metal probing stick (which made a really distinctive sound when tap, tap, tapping) and a phone which just finished updating GooglePlay, we quickly got to GZ extremely accurately and did not need much tap, tap, tapping. Finally get to claim this one at last, thankyou "y's ones".
Gps was all over the place. A couple of locals helped out. Then Lekker_Ding eventually found it buried but that appears to be as hidden so all good.
We were about to give up... then a few locals walked up. I had read in the logs that the locals come in handy for this cache. He didn’t know the exact location but it it was enough to keep us motivated to search a little longer. Now off to our belated dinner:). Thanks for the cache.
TFTC, went back for a 3rd. try at this one. This time the GPS cooperated and honed right in on GZ, a few tap taps and there it was.
Spent way to much searching for this one with no find. Either to well camouflaged or muggled
