A nice quick find. Parked up high and wandered down the road. There are some lonely caches around here! Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are off on another North Island tour, visiting family, art galleries and caches. Today we drove and cached around Hamilton, the weather has been pretty good!Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
Nice little walk. You can drive through the first gate and park by the waterway. A short walk and poke around in the bushes. Nicely hidden.
Gate was closed so we parked up and walked to gz. Parrydise searched the very overgrown bank and much to my surprise managed to find the cache!
Leafy green tree seems to be dead now but didn’t take t long to locate it. TFTC
The gate had been locked shut up the top so had to park up and walk down the bumpy road. The wetlands are rather overgrown but had no trouble locating the cache

We found the perfect parking spot nearby and it was only a short walk to GZ - the cache had suffer cache creep but replaced in accordance with the hint. TFTC

First look couldn't find it. Went to look for the other one. On the way back had a look and found it. Tftc
Drove down as far as we dared then found two caches in the one spot. The white cache is wet. Signed the logs and took the rooster travel bug.
The most difficult thing about this cache was access. As I was near, I braved the gravel track and parked on top of the cache(s). Signed both and dropped a TB. TFTC.
Have been very keen to visit Lake Areare Wetlands for some time...and today was the day!
Usually I'm rushing home...and it looked tricky to find the access.
I persuaded Nette1234 to navigate...which was a great help.
Was a bit worried about the bumpy road but my car survived..
so far.
Parked pretty close ...wasn't between cabbage trees but near 2 other trees.
There are 2 caches there!
Green one and white one.
We signed both logs as most other finders had.
Lovely place...thanks MCCC.

Short trip away with woolwood9.
Nice find for us today.
*Thanks for giving us a reason to visit!*
Signed log: **tm/ww NZ** (may be a black smudge on plastic logs)
Not sure how the last geocachers couldn't find the caches (still 2 containers)
Right at co-ords and hidden as per hint.

Interesting find. I found the replacement cache and the original less than one metre from each other. I checked back on the logs and Wobbie was the last finder before it went missing and Boris was the first finder of the replacement log.
They've both been found and signed once this year with Pinocchio59 finding the replacement 2 days ago and HDJ105 found the original back in January.
I have signed both logs and placed them both in the same location where they will be found together. Unfortunately I couldn't put one inside the other because they don't fit.
Mysterious!

Out caching north of Hamilton this afternoon. We had a nice walk in - could have driven further than we did - but it was pleasant walking in. The cache is wet inside but fortunately the log is waterproof. TFTC
. Another day in Hamilton clearing a few new caches and clearing a couple of DNFs Great day and thanks to all the COs Taking the long way home. Enjoyed this new area and the walk TFTC
I have had these two on my list for quite some time, great to tick them off. An easy find, in a not very often visited spot. It's worth the drive out there. TFTC
Out and about for an afternoon drive in the country on this windy day of Spring. Of course, there was the matter of picking up some number of hides on my drive about the rural setting between Auckland and Hamilton. Anyway, after finding a suitable place to park I made my way the remainder of the way to GZ on foot. Cache was in the very first spot I checked. Nice when that happens. It will also be good to not have this cache popping up in my GPSr as I take the expressway anymore; so close yet so far is a bit frustrating. Cheers for the cache placement!
After the long walk over here, at least I managed to get two caches for the effort. TFTC.
Yahoo finally managed to tick these two of my bucket list. Interesting walk and lovely wetlands thx. Cache quick and easy find .
Found the way in ok, not sure if my little car appreciated it but we got there. Gate was closed so a short walk to GZ and the cache was soon located. TFTC placement.
1st time caching in ages. been meaning to explore in a while. snoopy loved it here. it. only took a few mins
After a morning logging Eyes caches I decided to visit these finally! Managed to park within 10 meters of the cache but the track down today was dicey with the low level of my car.. A little water inside the cache but emptied it out. Cheers!
Turned these caches into a full circumnavigation of the lake, probably not recommended but made for a memorable find though.

We were pleasantly surprised to find the road was metalled all the way to the gate at the reserve. If the gate had not been locked we would have been able to drive right to GZ, but it was a nice morning for a walk.
+ a marble, - nothing.

2023 Took the wrong turn. Went left instead of straight ahead at the end of the road and ended up at the bee keepers factory. They assisted me in the right direction. Parked at end of track and walked thru the flaxes back to this cache.
Steed and my muggle sister have come out this way for a bit of a bike ride and cache hunt. They found the trickiest part was finding and biking the entranceway that looked like a farm track, but opened up to the lake. No problems with the find though, TFTC.
Early Easter Friday and no one about in the fog. I had a dnf on the previous one so it was good to nail this one tftc
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We have a small target list for today.
Our intention was to head towards Ngaruawahia, so a detour up the Expressway seemed like a logical, round-about approach. It enabled us to pause at Lake Areare so we could visit the two caches. Gap had already done this one, so it was a mere formality for me. A quick find and sign before heading onto the next hide. TFTC.

After several reports of it been missing, I had a look today, I couldn't find it, so a new one is in place, updated hint to reflect new hide
This was the start of a MEGA caching weekend in the company of good caching friends.
At this point in the weekend I am in the company of 11HPG11 so as we were going to need all the practice that we could muster we thought to stop here on the way to Auckland for some additional Pre Mega caching practice. For a while I was fooled by the technlogy but on expanding the search here the cache was soon in hand
thanks for the placement , thanks for the cache

Off to Mega 2015 with Cats&dragons. Bit of time to kill so decided to stop and grab some caches on the way to Auckland. Took us a bit of hunting but we eventually found it.
Well this was a bit of an adventure!!
After taking the dog for his annual checkup etc, I decided he deserved a decent walk. I had checked out the area a few weeks ago and back then thought I had the correct way to get to GZ. However meet some workers at the end of the road and they said that there was no access from this end. A little confused I accepted their answer and hunted for another access which I found. Knowing it was a bit of a walk from here I decided I'd leave it for another day.
Went straight to the access point and started making our way around the outside of the lake with the dog in tow bounding through the long grass with a huge grin on his face. When I thought we were close I fired up the phone to see how far we were and it wasn't good news. We were still 650m from GZ and the wrong side of a swampy ditch! Not being game enough today to plough on through we decided to turn back and head back to the car. Shadow found an extra muddy patch not far from the car and ended up having mud just about up to his belly!! So got the most of it off before allowing him in the car.
Decided to check out the other access again, and this time I spotted the track in (last time I was here they had their truck blocking it so I didn't notice it). Braved driving the car down and got it down without any problems at all. So challenge accomplished mr walker!! I bit of a rummage around at GZ before I spotted the cache. It had a surprising amount of water in it, but the contents all good bar being a little wet. The log book was dry though so no trouble signing. Replaced once I had emptied the water out.
Was rewarded with the dying stages of a brilliant sunset as a walked back to the car and got some fantastic views of Pirongia and the hills near Raglan. Thanks for the great adventure McCutchan!!

8.10am - Dot Day and on my way up to Auckland to help our son with his house renovations so lets find a fairly easy one. Quick find and now back on the road. SLTFTC
{FTF} I saw the notification for this cache come though as I was about to start cooking up a nice big cooked breakfast for the family and considered dropping everything and heading out for it, but did the honorable thing and served up a nice greasy breakfast instead. I casually mentioned to my wife that a new Geocache had been published and was given the thumbs up for a FTF hunt. I loaded the GPS, jumped in the car and headed off not entirely sure that I knew where I was going. My GPS seemed to have a better map than Google even though its a year old and lead me close where I happened upon a local who I decided to stop and chat to. I spun a lovely yarn about driving past this area regularly and often wondering how to get access to the lake and deciding on a whim this morning to stop and do some exploring. They gave me great directions and told me about how the small ponds near GZ are designed to 'refine' the water run off from the expressway before going back into the lake. Thanks to their help I parked just a few meters from GZ and soon had the cache in hand-and was pleasantly surprised to find a blank log which I signed at 9:59. I decided to have a look a round the area before heading home. Thanks for a fun morning adventure. HKCB will need to take special care of his car the last 150m to GZ.
