Last night I saw that some of this series that I hadn't yet found was archived, so I took a gamble that they were still actually in place. The best opportunity was an early morning raid. It was still dark when I started with a beautiful full moon. As I cached the moon set and on the drive home the sun rose. Another quick find here. It was great to see many walkers and runners out enjoying the calm and cool of the early morning. TFTC.

Sunday 14 February 2016 (Valentines Day) - a hot summer's day in the 30s with a brilliant blue sky with the only breeze coming from riding my cross-bike faster. Found 32 caches in 5 hrs over 18.1 kms starting at 8.30am. Must get a proper bike for this terrain - a mountain bike! Quick and easy find. Thx p2p. TFTC.

Went on a solo expedition today to grab half the CCT caches from Northern Exposure to Mulligans Flat. Also found a few extra caches along the way and at the end - total caches found was 50 exactly! Glad it was a cool day as it was a lot of walking. All caches found as per the hints and were in good condition. Replaced two logs. I was initially nervous, but the walk went well and the GPS was mostly well behaved. I enjoyed the views from certain caches, the exercise, and looking at the all the shale rocks along the way.

I decided to grab a few extras to take my total to 50 for the day. Bobl27 joined me and did some of the finding. Thanks Jackakid for the series.

A two day trip to Canberra to pick up a few caches and to attend an event.
With a good variety of cache hides, we were kept busy.

Cache was found quickly, and in good condition. Signed the log, and replaced.
Many thanks for placing this cache, JackaKid, for us and others to find.

I had been planning a big day of caching for today. My goal was to get 105 caches for the day, starting with the CCT trail heading towards Mulligans Flat and then joining onto the Jackakid caches before finally finishing off with some more caches in Forde and then making my way to Yerrabi Pond for the last ten or so caches. This plan included around 30 km of walking, something which I was hoping would not be a problem given the amount of breaks I would take to find each cache. I loaded up my bag with food, ~3L of water, GPS, phone, and other essential caching/walking equipment.

I hit the trail at 8:30 am, starting off with CCT - S3 - And so it begins. I set very good pace for the S3 set, finding a cache every 3 minutes or so (which was well ahead of schedule), until I got to CCT - S3 - Twisting where I took a very long time to find the cache (half an hour to be precise). There was one spot that looked incredibly obvious and matched the hint well. PAFs were went out and it wasn't until I started searching more methodically that I soon spotted the container in a spot which I did not expect. With that one knocked off, it was back to the earlier pace. There were only a couple of other tricky ones along the way but I had finished the CCT trail component of today's walk in about 4 hours.

Included in the CCT trail caches were some nice ones by other geocachers. It was nice to find a Spindoctors cache along the way as well as an mtbikeroz one, a Tankengine one (which I didn't have the best timing with) and a few Rapidlywild caches (including Reaching for the Sky which I was really happy to find as I didn't want to do a return trip. It was a bit of a silly idea as it was quite windy when I attempted it but I signed the log and descended to the ground unscathed without requiring a 'Special Tool'). Thanks to Champs2Monkeys for this part of the series, it was an enjoyable walk!

After collecting all the caches on the trail, I headed over to start the Jackakid caches. Overall, I had no trouble finding them which meant I had time for a little side trip to collect a letterbox hybrid, Celestial Storm (I had gotten first to solve on this one, it was a great and cleverly constructed puzzle and I learnt quite a bit) and some of the NPS series caches (which gave me just enough info to confirm where I thought the final would be). After collecting these few, I headed back to the main trail and continued on finding the Jackakid caches and others that were along the way.

After about an hour and a half in Mulligans Flat, I headed out and continued around Bonner following the Jackakid trail. The smell of smoke was in the air and there was a massive dust storm blowing in the distance. I spent a bit too long searching for Ducktasia which really cut into my limited time. It was about half past 3 when I reached JackaKid's Geocache 5 - Dunstan VC and was headed off to the last few caches in Forde before heading for Yerrabi Pond. I found Fore!ign Body without a lid so that may need to be check up on.

I was really tired by the time I reached Damp Fore!head, and called in to my mum to say I was ready to be picked up. I headed off and collected one more (Wings of Excellence) before going to Forde shops to buy a drink, without realizing I had dropped my money along the trail. I ended up with 93 caches for the day, and some massive heat blisters on my heels to remind me of the trip. All up, it took me 8 hours to find the caches. Thanks to all the COs who placed caches that I found today, I apologize for the copy paste logs!

Found at 12:47pm with JordsAU.

The Dynamic Duo (JordsAU and Jase90) were on an epic adventure to the Nation's Capital for the weekend. A massive road trip indeed. We had left for Canberra on Friday evening a little later than we anticipated and desired, but escaping the Big Smoke proved to be no problem as we worked our way to our destination.

Once we were on the M5 freeway it was all engines go, myself driving and JordsAU being my handy navigating co-pilot, not to mention the very skilful DJ and great company.

'JackaKid's Geocache 17 - Maygar VC' was our 166th cache of the weekend and our 21st for the day.

Yesterday we tackled the 'Kowen Roo' trail in Kowen Forest. It's fair to say that we bit off more than we could chew with attempting this trail. For one, we didn't realise how mountainous the terrain was until we arrived and figured it out the hard way. We were a little sore from the 35km we had travelled by foot on Saturday when we managed to reach the milestone of 100 cache finds as well as the 25 odd km's we did yesterday.

The weather this morning was spectacular for being outdoors, albeit a little windy. The forecast from the week prior was against us but we had no such trouble today. We were on our way back to Sydney after a tiring and demanding weekend of almost non-stop caching. We figured we would work our way back slowly and notch up a few more smileys before leaving town as well as maybe a handful on the drive.

We spotted the 'JackaKid' trail on the map yesterday as a good one to knock over and it didn't seem too difficult. It was certainly nice exploring the relatively new and modern community of Jacka.

Our Canberra trip was a beauty, we racked up a hell of a lot of caches in a short space of time especially given some of the terrain we were up against. We had very few DNF's along the way as well which made it even better. I'm already looking forward to our next visit in the near future. We very much enjoyed learning some of the history and experiencing the great sights.

Signed log, thanks for the cache JackaKid

"Found with Jase90 on our epic weekend adventure in our Nation’s Capital. This expedition was partly inspired by the Geocaching Road Trip ’15 promotion and also because my goal was to reach 1,999 finds so my 2,000th milestone could be the final ever Geocaching Block Party in Seattle in September 2015. Jase90 and I left late on Friday night and, driving down, we made a few stops on the way down so he could find a few of my favourites along the way.

On Saturday morning, we targeted the HMAS power trail and managed to knock off all 90 from the series in less than 7 hours by foot, including Coppins Creek, Bernie's Boulders and Aerial Bold. Afterwards we headed back towards Canberra and we continued caching late into the night (in between breaks in the storms and bad weather). We managed to find the following before calling it quits around 11:00 PM: Gallifrey 2, Geocacher's Lost Lipstick!, Down and Dirty 3, Tourist Tips, Dominion of 2183, Foxy Place, Southwell Surprise, The Thirteenth Man, Sharkiefan's Challenge #3, Gungahleen Schoolhouse, One-Oh-Fore!, Hawkey's 2nd, Grate Expectations, Deep Extra Cover, Wally's Walk, Wally's Way, Harrison and Horsepark, Oblivion, Busy Bees, Heritage Site: ThereFore! A Cache., Liquidambar, Bug on, The Glassworks, and Can you hear the drums… err Bells Fernando.

On Sunday we decided to tackle the Roo geo-art power trail by foot and were able to complete 25 starting from the tail, as well as Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine, Kowen Kamp and Reid's Ridge along the way. The terrain was much harder than we expected and the weather was freezing – we could see snow on top of the mountains in the near distance. We had to pick the coldest weekend in recent years to come down to Canberra didn’t we! In the evening we continued our hunt and found the following: The Edward Locomotive, Loch Be a Lady Tonight, carpark of shame, Close To Home, Heart & Soul of Parliament, Fore!midable Contribution, Granite Sphere & Questacon, Peace and Levitation?.

On an unplanned, extra day in the Australian Capital Territory, we felt our legs needed a rest and that they had done enough walking over the weekend, so we went for more park and grab type caches. We started with Oz Rock - Cold Chisel: 'Cheap Wine', then completed 20 of the JackaKid’s series, before doing Little Miss Hayley, Big Sis Angela, Little Man Tristan, Guard Sei, Guard Quattro, Ingress to Forde, DNF #3, Tiptoe through the Tulips and OldFed 4. On the way home back to Sydney, we stopped found Collecta Cache, Cache-abet….Z and GWM 1914-1918.

Thanks to all of the Cache Owners for the hides and helping Jase90 and I have an amazing visit to Canberra."

29-Jun-15
Decided it was a nice day for a bike-ride so my buddy and I went out to get this new VC series. The hiding is all very easy, except for a few which were hidden among a ton of rocks or not in ways too similar to the rest of the series. Even though they were easy finds they were still very rewarding, even stopped off to get a few extras along the way. My friend was a premium so we went for the new premium cache "Sky's the limit" as well, shame I can't log it because it was a really fun cache. We even spotted the elusive " Franklin " while getting caches in Bonner. Needless to say we had quite an eventful caching experience. Anyway TFTFs Jackakid, I enjoyed boosting my finds count substantially even if I only got 29 of them, I can't wait to see what your later hides and series will be like!

We were only a few geocaches away from 4000 find, so our goal today was to get 23 caches, so that I could be on 3999. We were successful, meaning that I will be able to make my 4000th cache a special one. We decided to use the JackaKid series to get our numbers up. After a long drive from home, we got to our first find. Then we took about an hour or so to drive around the area getting the caches. We managed to park about 20-30m from most of the caches, meaning that we were able to jump out of the car and quickly signed the log. Though, taking off all of the zip-lock bags took a little bit of time. Apart from that, this series provided beautiful views of the area and some cool looking architecture in the houses! The muggles were not around here today - except a barking dog that ran after us when we got to one of the caches. He didn't attack, he just chased us and barked a lot. TFTC JackaKid!
