Quick little walk today before the bad weather comes in. The winton wetlands are absolutley full! Might need to go out there for a paddle....Walk was nice, coupla big kangaroos around. At GZ the views were great. Easy find too in the rocks. TFTC
Followed the left path and the pink ribbon at the 50meter mark I looked at the clue and had a chuckle ok I was prepared to do that. Upon approaching my Balboa moment something caught my eye and made me pause..well lucky for me this was the approach I decided to take because there she was this sneaky cache.. I sat for a while enjoyed the breeze across my face marveled at the view I walked 20+km off yesterday..did my Balboa impression then headed back down to start my day.
I’ve wanted to tick this cache off for a long time. Today I had to take a trip in this direction without the kids so I took advantage of it and made a quick dash. I made it from the parking cords to GZ in no time but the cache was a bit harder to locate and I spent about the same amount of time wandering around looking for a regular sized container. What I found was smaller than expected but it was the cache nicely tucked away.
Great little view of the wetlands today. Great to see it with plenty of water at the moment.

Well what a great view, the Wetlands are looking amazing. All good here. Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
What a really enjoyable walk this morning and the sun actually came out when i got to the top of the hill. Thanks for the cache, found after a bit of a search.
Well worth the walk, beautiful 360⁰ views from up here incl lots of snow on what I'm guessing is Mt Buller. Took plenty of photos before honing in on gz. Took me longer than it probably should have but eventually located the prize. Thanks Harrowang for bringing me to this beautiful spit and TFTC
What an absolutely beautiful view Of the Winton wetlands it’s good to see just a little bit of water because if it was dry you wouldn’t see anything
meg is one tough critic
two years of honing our material locked Inside and, at long last, we were given the golden-hour opportunity to strut our stuff on the big screen
half an hour of cabaret polished to a lustrous sheen
comedy, singing, dancing, tremendous acts of strength and endurance
but
meg remained stone-faced
no reaction
just
crickets
but not even the usual cricket chirping, but a softer mellower sound: the gentle th-th-th of the insects leaping and fleeing into the tall grasses
not even content to witness our circus acts, they would rather migrate elsewhere
so we thank meg for her consideration
but we will take our show elsewhere

That was worth the walk. Great view of the wetlands. TFTC Harrowang. Not too hard a walk or find. Great Saturday afternoon.

"Mt Meg" What a contrast in vegetation and elevation after a morning in and around Sergeants Swamp among the scar trees in the "Thistle Sea"
We heard the call of a kookaburra, but no wallabies out and about today. Amazing views from GZ.
Our thanks to Harrowang for placing interesting caches on the gameboard.

We decided that we would tackle Meg and hoped that the rain would hold off. Up, up and up we went. We had no trouble finding the way with all the little rock cairns along the way. We added to a couple of them as they seemed to have fallen/be knocked over. Thanks for the walk, the cache and the view.
Well we made it. Had to take a couple of rest stops on the way up. It is horribly sticky as the storm is still threatening but it is over 30.
Took us quite some time to locate the cache but there was no way that we were leaving without a very thorough look. If we come back, it will need to be cooler than it is today.
We were just about to call it, when the cache was found. YAY!.
Now to appreciate the view from up here and back to the geomobile before the rain hits.
Thanks for the cache and showing us this view. Would have been quite stunning when there was water in the wetlands.

Team Hexapool has enjoyed a couple of days exploring and caching. More details of our experience can be found in our personal logs below. TFTC!
Fantastic view of area, tried to follow some sort of track to the top. Climbed another Mt. Tftc
Enjoyed our walk in this reserve this afternoon. From the middle teaser cache, we kind of lost the formal track and followed an animal track or something to GZ!!! Great view of the Canola.
Beautiful spot on a sunny winters day, everything is so green. Thanks for bringing us here
Found the track on the way back, much easier than push bashing straight up the hill.
Also had a wedge tail eagle circling above, had me wondering if it was eyeing off the 4yo

Bingo - now that it’s replaced, back in the bush to make the find and turn that ghastly sad emoji into a jolly smiley - just another little detour enroute to Melbs. Lucky geocaching grandly fits into a ‘social distancing’ definition - especially if your a solo bunny out in the never never. Perfect time of year to wander up a hill and enjoy the vista and the rocks. TFTC Harrowang!
Well, i think i almost died getting this cache!! lol..
What a silly thing to do on such a hot day!! But thanks to my partner in crime, dalerious.. he pushed me on to get up that hill and get the cache. This was extremely difficult for me as i wasn't feeling well but there was no point in turning back while halfway there. With many short stops to catch my breathe along the way we finally reached the summit. I had to sit down and rest for a while as i felt a bit faint. Dalerious went and found the cache for us and i was able to sign the log. The view was beautiful!! I really would of loved to have explored more but i needed to get back to the car. Thanks again for another awesome cache. And another last apology for a very late log.

Last one for the day found with ILookedThere @4:11pm.
Yep. She was a warm one alright. That last couple of hundred metres nearly broke half of us. [xx(]
The view from the top was to die for anyway so a little exhaustion only seemed fair.
The nice shiny new replacement cache was found easily enough, signed and returned just a little lighter. Thanks for the PT Harrowang, now we both have one. [^]
ILookedThere and I had had a wonderful day chasing caches and since we figured we couldnt possibly top this one, the decision was made at the top of the hill to call it a day.
We loitered for a moment or three before meandering back down to the car for a well earned refreshing drink and a casual trip home. [8)]
TFTC Harrowang.
My last favourite point is now yours.

Alerted by the DNF from the last seeker, we decided today was the time to check out Mt Meg. We did a thorough search of the area and could find NO SIGN of our specially made container or its contents. We had brought another container on our hike ...just in case. Please be careful extracting and replacing the clip top container, as it is not as robust as the previous one. So there you are - a new 600ml rectangular container, log book, pencil, a few swaps and an Eagle PT to be found by the next intrepid hiker.
Drat is all I can say after spending way toooooo long and widening the search. Some long blue cord found but nothing else apart from the views. Maybe the overgrown vegetation has added to blindness. I’ll return IF someone else scores sometime
A great view from the hill just above this geocache. Would never have visited if not for the cache. (Number 4 for the day).
Thanks.
Thanks.
Got it, did the last bit by intuition and wasn’t far wrong, cache all good.
Was not far from this cache two weeks ago, bought lil miss almost 5 for an adventure, which was fun till she fell out of a tree and found every loose stone on the way down

Made our way to the summit after picking up the teaser.
Nice little hill and a quick find before hitting the top.
Spent a bit of time peeking at the view between the trees.

Our second attempt at caching in these lovely wetlands while staying in the nearby Glenrowan Tourist Park. We absolutely love this area and all the birdlife.
At various times during the day we saw several kangas and a smallish red bellied black snake about 80cm long take his time crossing the road in front of us as we watched
We have been very impressed by the number of caches and how well they are being maintained....a real credit to the cache owners
We thoroughly enjoyed our walk here, especially as the weather was much cooler than we have been experiencing recently....we spotted four big kangas on our walk.
The views at the top are very impressive and we were very lucky to enjoy a nice clear day to appreciate the alps in the background of the scene....they would no doubt look even better in winter.
Many thanks for showing us this place Harrowang[^]

So glad I have E as I don't like heights so waited half way. TFTC and great view LS
After a short stroll up the hill we were rewarded with a spectacular view. Even after the rain Lake Mokoan is still very dry, TFTC
Well, I was teased then challenged as I headed straight up from the teaser. Not sure about my choice of route as the only cairn I saw was silhouetted on the skyline as I approached GZ. Quite a few casuarina saplings are growing well, but not much else in this very dry landscape. Fantastic views over the very dry 'wetlands' A fav point for this one TFTC Harrowang
#1876 From the Teaser we followed the faint track up to the summit reassured along the way by the series of mini cairns, not a lot of wildlife spotted this morning, but we did see a fox! and some interesting looking caterpillars. We made it to the top before too long and enjoyed some fantastic views in all directions, it was a beautiful morning to enjoy the bush. We then concentrated on the cache hide searching through the Aplite rocks of all interesting shapes and sizes, oh there's a cylindrical one! Oh found it! We signed the log and looked over the very dry... wetlands. On our way down we had trouble picking up the track again, only finding it close to the starting point, but that was ok, all part of the adventure. TFTC Harrowang, a great spot to explore, definitely a favourite from us.
Headed west off the Freeway to do a maintenance check on Meg. She has not been found for 7 months! The walk in is quite dry and there are many twigs and branches strewn on the barely defined path. We were glad to see that the rock cairns along the way are still in place and added a few more rocks to some to make them more noticeable. Took another photo of the Wetlands(?) from the cache site. Definitely no water to be seen today. Will add a couple of photos of the rock cairns to the cache page so you can keep a look out for them along the way. Check out the gallery for more clues.
I reckon we might have went the long way around on the way up but decided to go straight on the way down, not sure what was easier. Nice views from the top, my son managed a couple of nice shots on this overcast cold day. TFTC TNLN
What better way to work off the delicious "Party at the wetlads" birthday cake. The walk up was worth the effort for the great views over the wetlands.

Attended the party at the wetlands event with my dad and picked up some caches on the way home. Great cache love the scenery while walking with my dad through the trees, but we may of taken the wrong path up to the cache, still an amazing cache.
Went south today to check out the complete lack of anything resembling water in the Winton Wetlands.
Did a few caches with Bettyboo3747 while we were there - Oh, and had lunch at the very flash Cafe.
How did you find this small park so tucked away?
We parked at the parking spot and sauntered along the old road to the base of the hill.
BB had a large lunch at the cafe, so we figured she should run up to GZ to try and work some of it off.
Nice view from GZ, but it would probably be a bit better with some water.
Completely missed all the rock cairns (that was probably from BB sprinting up the hill!)
Thanks, Robmc.

# 8478. As the new Hub Cafe isn't open over the next couple of days we decided to load the bikes and head to the wetlands today. It is a shame that it looks so dry and desolate these days. However it was a beautiful winter's day, sunny and calm so it was a pleasure to hunt down a few caches.
After visiting the new cafe where I believe most of Benalla and beyond were having lunch and spending approximately an hour and a half imagining how nice the views would be with some water spreading out before us, we ate and then decided to visit Meg's Reserve.
What a lovely walk from the car to the top although we admit we completely missed any rocky guidelines as laid out by you. Reached the top and we were impressed by the expansive views of dry, extinct Lake Mokoan.
Great sized container so left a Geocoin, a car TB and a pathtag for future visitors. Took cute little Shawn Sheep to make into a TB.
Favourite point for finding this lovely spot and for the views.
Thanks Harrowang

It was such a grey day today that I thought I would go for a drive to the wetlands to test out The Hub and it passed the test with flying colours. Then I decided to have a look for this Bushland cache. I felt like a bit of a walk after the yummy rhubarb crumble. I think I stayed a bit too long at the cafe though because after I had found the cache (that was the easy part) I got lost on the way back and seemed to walk for ages with the sun going down and the clouds blocking the light. Thankfully the car park waypoint saved me from a long cold night in the bush but by the time I entered it into my GPS, and still being in the trees, I had passed the car and was nearly at the turn off. So I was grateful for finally finding the road to follow back to the car. I didn't see a single animal (think they had all gone to bed or were behind the trees laughing at me!) I did have a beautiful view at GZ. I forgot to write in the log that I took the TB. Thanks for this cache Harrowang. I did get to pass one of your beautiful cairns on the way up. I'm giving this cache a favourite because I walked off all those unnecessary calories I had consumed at The Hub.

By the time I got there, I really needed a beer! Good cache and excellent site. Last time I was up there, there was a half decent 4 wheel drive track and not a goat track. Lake Mokoan was absolutely full of water. Great views and to cut down on the weight for the trek back down, I dropped of Christmas Dog Travel Bug.

Headed out early today to get the most out of it. First stop was to get this cache and then head into the wetlands to snap some birds. There was still frost on the ground when we arrived so off I headed up the hill. I was a bit puffed by the time I reached the top. GZ was spot on and quickly had said cache in my frozen hands. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey of getting this cache. Fantastic view, fav point awarded. TFTC
Yay FTF at 0945, no wheel tracks on the drive up the track so took my time ambling up the hill - great little reserve and wonderful views over the wetlands - actually with some water in them after 3 days rain. GPS was running out of batteries so it took me on a bit of a chase around, but GZ was located soon enough, contents inspected and log signed. Will take the GC on a bit further. Any FTF gets a fave point, this one would anyway as its the sort of cache I like to put out myself! TFTC Harrowang!
Headed out for a drive with Doc and saw this one had popped up. Parked at the appropriate spot and headed down the path. It was quite and interesting walk, the the path got steeper. A couple of slippery bits negotiated and we continued. I got within 60m of gz but just could not go any further, so it was left to Doc to get the prize. I found a log to sit on and get my breath back. While waiting somewhat patiently, a fox ran across the hill just above me, it was a pleasant surprise. I'm not sure how long I waited but there was no sign of Doc so I started heading up towards him. Spotting his head over a rise I called out, then I saw the cache in his hand so I waited where I was. When he got back to me he told me the view had been well worth the trip to the top but he did need to rest a bit before he actually found the cache. Slowly made our way back down to the car, being careful about where we placed our feet. Doc left a walking stick leaning up against that gatepost while I got off my wobbly legs and back in the car. This was an awesome walk and cache. Thanks so much Harrowang
