Tried this one but track is very faint now with high undergrowth, so I got very wet and left it for another day. Here is a koruru pic I snapped at GZ instead, happy caching!
Quick venture up this track for two caches then turned back as its getting cold and dark. Track was more established then I had anticipated. Detour into the bush and took a while before spotting this good sized cache. Thanks Seagnoid
Trouve ! / Found it ! Une belle bote dans un bel endroit 4519me cache trouve.Merci the Seagnoid pour la cache A beautiful box in a beautiful place 4519th cache found.Thank you the Seagnoid for the cache
A pre-Christmas day out, attempting to tick off Port Underwood road. Thirteenth find here. Easy once you negotiate the waist high (wet) grass. I was planning on continuing up but as I am now soaking wet, another day. Off to the other side of the road today.
Got out to find the McC and some other caches in this area. Took me actualy an whole day, but was quite fun.The first 500 meters of the track are the worst and you have to fight your way through nature.Up the hill where still some areas with a bit of difficulty to access. The beginning of the track is really over grown.
Beware of native stinging nettle on the overgrown track. Miss 3 left a pen and some small toys for the next family. Thanks for the find.
On a winter Roadie around the South Island, picking up the occasional cache along the way.
A little overgrown along the track, got a bit wet.

Certainly a stunning view! The track is a bit overgrown but still accessible. Log signed
Oofa. That was a big climb! Last one of my whole trip. Now it's time for a speedy downhill!
Found! The track doesn't look like a track from the road, but just round the corner you can see it's an old track. Cache in good order. I'll have to come better dressed next time and do the rest of them up the track. Great view at the road! Tftc
After a lengthy break, we were once more out "treasure hunting" with Annacons and love finding a track we had absolutely no idea existed. This find took a wee bit of time but that time was very worthwhile as there was plenty of treasure to be admired for Mr 10 and Miss 10 & 8 - onwards!
Beautiful day, shame about the wind. And now we've lost the pencil.-after writing in the log at least! TFTC
Heading on a geo adventure with BCD to the top of the South Island...Picton, Blenheim, Havelock and Nelson.
Day trip around the coast along Port Underwood Road.
A bit of a morning walk with a cache or few. Quick find here one in the right spot TFTC

Cool little track, There's no clearing on top of ridge for a view... But there's treasure! Trackable found, will bring along for a journey - V²
Went passed earlier in the day, didn't find it then. Hubby left tripod sitting on side of the road, tripod gone but cache found. Dog got real excited when we found it tftc

Yep up, off track about 10 meters. Log booked wet but we did manage to sign. The view is magnificent
This one was laying open in its hiding and the logbook was really wet with no plastic bag to save it. Needs maintenance.

A nice quick find today after a bit of a wander away from the saddle.
It's time to start the trek home. Time to grab a few nearby caches around Picton before and after visiting friends.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

A wednesday afternoon off work to go for a wander....and I have been eying up this track with a handful of caches on it. Parked down at the road in the large parking spot. Took a big moment to admire the views before heading up this track. The entrance was a bit overgrown as was most of this track along with mucky and slippery.
No trouble locating this first cache - pity about a couple of the others though.

#6172. I am over in Marlborough for some work meetings but have extended the trip and taken some leave to give me time to find a few more caches. Later this afternoon I decided it was time to visit Port Underwood, a road I have not travelled along in a couple of decades. Parked at the saddle and started to head in the direction of the cache. Then thought surely it can't be up that slope. So wandered along the road until I spied the overgrown track. Headed up hill and kept going past the dense blackberry until I saw an easy way uphill. The cache was found immediately after I had scrambled up the bank. Signed the logbook and returned the cache where found. Thanks for hiding the cache here the Seagnoid. Interesting hiding spot but should be safe from muggles.
First one of the day. Good parking space for the bus. Thankfully I was able to locate cache quickly. TFTC
Having missed the probably obvious parking spot half way up I had no parking problems here. Nice and calm coming up hill then and as soon I reached the top blasted by the southerly. The noise was amazing. Wandered up and grabbed the cache. Great container and will find a few more of these later today. Thanks for the cache.
Freezing cold, windy and raining. Not the best day to drive up here, but in the end it was a quick find. Track was very muddy and slippery! Tftc
Didn’t have a pen so I used my creativity & wrote it like that hope this is allowed cause it was a mission to get up there !!
Out exploring Port Underwood with The Seagnoid and Toby. So lets go!
'Stop'. 'Yes stop' HERE - at the saddle and I misheard -so backed up to park on the Saddle.
Time for a walk - which has been on The Seagnoids 'To Do list ' for a while.
Snagged and tagged Underwood Saddle. Cheers.
Now to explore along this track. The Seagnoid is happy as he dropped off a few bits of metal and plastic along the way. Track a bit greasy today after the rain. And the cloud and drizzle arrives back just before we get back to Toby. But Mt McCormick stayed way way over there - beyond our clutches today. Oh well maybe another day!!!

Our goal for Saturday was to catch up with a few friends in Picton and check out the Maritime festival. On the way we took the Underwood road for a bit of scenery and a few caches. It wasn't a great time caching. Our targeted caches seemed a little tighter to get to than we thought, so we just got the two in the end. Will need to rethink these. But we had a good day. The festival was good, we finally properly checked out the Edwin Fox and were quite impressed with how good that was, and had a BBQ while watching the fireworks from Andy's verandah on the hill. Magic. TFTC, no issue here tS.
Fantastic views here. Teach somewhat over grown but rewarded with a ton of swag at the end. Tftc
Thrid find on this stretch of road, nice view. I prefer these hides to the traditional park and grabs. Would not have known there was a trail here if it wasn't for the cache. Unfortulately there's nothing too special about it, and there are no views from up there, but the cache is in excellent condition and well stocked! TFTC
Filling in time with this alternative road as we make our way back to the ferry. Stopped for the odd cache or two along the way - this is our third. Nice wee track to GZ and cache in great condition. TFTC
Parked at the top of the saddle and waited for the dust to clear from a vehicle that came from the side road, then headed along the well defined (geo)trail to retrieve the cache. All good here, then back to vehicle where we had lunch and took in the view while we waited for another vehicle to depart. tftc
What a hunt! Similar to "Where's Wally". Great views from our parking spot so took a few photos. TFTC
15:07. TFTC. I did the scramble, and then dropped the container which rolled down the slope! EthNZ heard my swearing, and thought that I had fallen over! Panic over, she passed the container back so I could replace it as found.
I've never been up this road before, so it seemed a good opportunity after lunching at a friend's place just back down the road. Just starting to rain, but a fairly easy find.

today was another nice day for our holiday trip in new zealand were we of course also found some caches along the way in Picton.
This is one of them. thank you for maintaining this cache.

I wouldn't have guessed that there was a track there and initially didn't realise which side if the road we needed to be on. That happens sometimes when you're the driver and not the navigator. But once I had my bearings we set off and the navigator followed. But he had done the reading and I went a few steps too far so he found the cache first. Interesting place for it.
Thanks Seagnoid for the cache.

Yes GPS was pointing in the correct direction just had to find the track, soon had in hand. TFTC
Stopped here and took in the views before heading to GZ. GK found this one. Upon return to the road there was the cyclist we had seen earlier seeking shade from our campervan, we filled his water bottle and had a chat as he had a wee rest before heading back to Waikawa. We sat and had a cuppa here - we watched the weather change from a beautiful summers day to a windy cloudy cold day tftc
A well stocked cache plenty of loot for the kids as per usual for this CO tftc took travel bug
Stopped here on a drive to score some of the caches that have been placed since I last came this way. The weather was being kind to me this afternoon, it had rained heavily for a short while and then cleared long enough for me to score all my unfound caches up here before the heavens opened up again. I enjoyed this one, a good little side track and a nice big cache at GZ. Spotted it as I climbed towards it. Signed log, TFTC and it's worth a favourite point.
Haha! Didn't expect the grass to be so wet - managed to thoroughly soak my sandals Hugs to jacksonhcnz who managed to draw blood while walking into a spiky bramble on the path hehe. Thanks for placing!
Mrs Sobad was being driven along the Port Underwood Rd by the same driver she had been with when we 'cleared' the area of caches a while ago. Back today to try to reclear the area. When we first arrived there was a large truck so we went up the side road for the caches there. On return, the area was clear and it was soon equally clear we could have looked for the cache the previous time. Certainly a track Mrs Sobad would not have spotted without the cache. No problem to follow the track then leave the track and spot a cache in an obvious spot.
Thanks.
Thanks.
What a great place for a cache. - - - Well spotted. A wee taste of the surrounding area and the kind of place you would expect to be totally devoid of muggles. TFTC .
Another road trip today, out to Port Underwood and over to Picton. Another great drive, lots of views and picturesque bays to visit along the way. Cheers and TFTC
A quick easy find once we spotted the track. Certainly a superb view from here. TFTC
Absolutely stunning views from the saddle this morning - we both said wow as we came round the bend. Another car was parked up which I thought were cheeky freedom campers but while I was up finding the cache apparently they walked down from the 4 wheel drive track opposite so I had to take that back. TFTC #8190
When we disappeared in the undergrowth we had the place for ourselves. After we made the find and returned to the car without being gorsed there was a car parked next to us and a camper van behind us. They watched us with raised eye brows. A penny for their thoughts. Thank you the Seagnoid
When we parked up here the carpark was empty. When we returned there was 2 other cars but who cares what they might have thought when they saw 2 oldies emerging from an unlikely spot. We didn't care cos we found the cache, taking care NOT to get gorsed!
Thank you the Seagnoid.
Thank you the Seagnoid.
My main objective for today was to find the caches along the long and winding road from Picton to Blenheim that have popped up since I was last out here. After a DNF on the previous cache, I was hoping that all would be well here. I found the track up - I wonder where it goes?? - and then the way off the track to the cache. All good here. TFTC, Biggles.
From the previous log I knew this was going to be a wet walk in the rain, but nothing prepared me for the absolute drenching from the wet grass and broom, still it's a good cache well tucked away and a great size. If it's raining wear your leggings and jacket. TFTC
#1505 Wish I'd done this one before the rain last night. Not too long and I was soaked from the waist down. Never underestimate how wet you will get trekking through long grass
Thanks for another South Island smilie. All good at GZ.
Thanks for another South Island smilie. All good at GZ.
A great view from up here and a welcome break from the twisty turns for the kids in the back. A pleasant stroll to stretch the legs and a cache to boot, cheers
Number 2. A really good supply of things for the kids. Hard to find but well worth the hunt.
Quite a long time since I have driven around the Port Underwood Rd., back in 2007 I think, when caches were few and far between along here. Out on another road trip in the area today and not totally surprised at the many more placements, it's a wonderful area with great scenery. A very interesting enjoyable journey thanks to all the CO's who cache's I visited.

Nice day for a road trip after dropping our passenger off at the ferry. It's been a long time since we travelled along the Port Underwood Road so a good opportunity to experience it again with time to stop along the way and do some geocaching. TFTC.
