Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Making our way to Broken Hill for Mundi Mundi Bash. Today we moved to Gulgong from Muswellbrook. Well we thought it was cold when we left Muswellbrook, but boy it was FREEZING when we arrived at Gulgong and it had started to drizzle. [8)] What to do. Well of course we dropped off the caravan chucked on some far warmer clothes and went touring the area using Geocaching as a guide. We found your cache today. TFTC Buggerme
Took me a while to find today. Thanks Buggerme! I took a little detour on my trip from Tamworth to Orange!
Thanks for contributing to this amazing series with beautiful scenery. Love the backroad travel. TFTC
80 finds, 5 dnf's on his trail today, starting at Andromeda, and finishing at Sofala with Geoian. Thanks to all the CO's for your efforts. I enjoyed this trail.

As i was signing the log, a bird landed in a tree, just over there, and it happened to be a Wedge Tailed Eagle. As i walked down back to the car, another 2 flew over, and a 4th flew past as i got back to my car. Amazing. Correcting date

The cows across the road seemed very interested in what we were doing here. TFTC.
Driving down a dirt road after rain, we always knew there was going to be some water crossings. Mrs Woodyrothwell was behind the wheel and sure the first one was like getting her nails done. By the third or fourth she forgot about her problems and was driving through them at break neck speed. tftc
second day caching and concentrating on the TRLT love the places geocaching takes us and these minor roads thanks for the cache and maintaining

Day 2
With the COVID19 restrictions lifting, we decided to head to the Bathurst area this long weekend on a Geomission with Rapidlywild. Our intention was to attack the TRLT trail and others around the area.
We had a great four days, only a few DNF’s but mostly smiley's, and have left plenty for another adventure. Lovely area to cache in and we look forward to coming back for some more fun and laughs.
Thanks for the hide Buggerme and thanks Rapidlywild for another great weekend away.
Apologies for the generic log, thank you to all the cache owners for their efforts.

With COVID19 locking everyone down for so long, a MUCH overdue geocaching mission was welcomed. FurfacesLL #1 and myself decided to head towards Bathurst and attack some of the TRLT caches and see how far we can go. Spoke to a few of the CO's prior to heading up to see if we could assist with any maintenance that was required, so we went prepared with some camo containers and some fresh log books. We had a wonderful weekend stretching the legs and enjoying the country side.
Thanks for the hide Buggerme And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another fun weekend out and about the TRLT trails and others

Day 2 at Gulgong, our attack today is to do the top part of the TRLT Series before we move off to Mudgee for the rest. We gave up the mad rush at IGA for the toilet paper today to enjoy a relaxing drive on the dirt roads heading south. A few tricky ones along the way but managed a 100% success.

Slowly heading home.
Left Mudgee this morning, and after a few local caches, headed for Young.
Bettyboo3747 and I collected occasional caches along the way.
Left the sheep behind at this point, but we realised there are stacks more heading south, so we made this our last (but we will be back)
A short stroll to a rocky outcrop.
Thanks, Robmc.

This was to be the last long geocaching trail for us to undertake during our current travels around Australia, and so this afternoon we started at the top of the trail. It was probably the coldest day of our geocaching holiday to date, especially as it was also very windy and raining on and off, but nothing that would stop our enjoyment of the trail. This one was a nice quick find once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

OCW frazerdaze and marj01. House sitting at White Rock for a week has provided an opportunity to do some geocaching runs around Bathurst - mainly TRLT series indispersed with a number of trads and puzzle caches. During the day we saw lovely scenery, lots of sheep and cattle, a few foxes and one deer in the forestry area. We even encountered fire persons doing a burn off which included two of the caches we were chasing. Please excuse the generic logs and thanks to all the CO's for placing the caches and adding to our enjoyment. For expediency all logs were signed OMF.
On a big weekend caching with oldmorty and Frazeydaze and logs have signed OMF.
Would like to thank all cache owners, for making and maintaining the caches.

We're here on unfinished business, and to attend the 'A Ceilidh in the Country' event. A few years ago we came to hit the TRLT, but gastroenteritis and flooding rain intervened. We hit the trail not long after 8 this morning, and made our way through the Piambong sections and a handful down Hill End Rd before heading over to the event. We then drove home in pouring rain.... This section really needs some attention, the logs are generally full and the caches starting to fall apart.
Oliver found this one, after a trek across the dust bowl, we didn't see many sheep around today.... TFTC

Thank you so very very much for this awesome series that is showing us around with minimal bitumen. Absolutely loving it. Thank you.
Hill End and Mudgee weekend April 2018. I set out late on Thursday after a small car battery issue. I only stopped once before a night at Bummeroo ford. Friday took me to Orange via many spread out caches between Oberon and Bathurst. I spent the night at Macquarie woods. Saturday started foggy and then warmed up. I was heading to Hill end, and did make it, but I had to give up on the Bridle track due to a rockfall. Late in the evening I did find a spot along the Turon river and the very bumpy northern section of the Bridle trail. Sunday had me finishing the TRLT trail from Mudgee to Gulgong and a few missed ones in the middle of nowhere. The last day was a simple drive home from Sofala. A great weekend !
After the rough morning start on the Bridle Track it was a relief to get to normal roads, even dirt ones. The rest of the day was spent dealing with more TRLT caches with a few extras thrown in to fill in the day.
Thanks.

We are staying at the Mudgee showgrounds and with this extreme heat we headed out for a while to get some caches before returning to the comfort the aircon in the caravan provides. We like doing these rural caches and this was a particularly nice section and the caches a little closer to each other which kept things more interesting. We stopped for a lunch at Gulgong and enjoyed looking around this unique town. This was one of the caches we targetted and were able to find and we thank Buggerme for placement of this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
On a two day caching trip with GeodudeAU to cover more of TRLT series and others from Carcalgong-Mudgee-Gulgong-Ilford-Capertee-Lithgow. We had 90 finds and only a few DNFs for our efforts. A great couple of days exploring the Central Tablelands seeing some amazing places we wouldn't normally visit. We even survived the mini-hurricane that swept through our campsite along the Cudgegong River at TSR (Cullenbone)! Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining these caches. Most were in good order and easily found with the help of handy hints to get CIH.

Out with Brewmaker for a 2 day trip finding caches along The Road Less Travelled series and other nearby ones. On this day 2 we started just north of Mudgee along the Henry Lawson trail through Eurunderee towards Gulgong, then through Piambong and back towards Mudgee before heading back to Sydney though Lithgow.
It was an enjoyable journey through the countryside and towns, seeing farm and native animals along the way. Today was a nice sunny day and there were no issues.
We found most of the caches very easily (except for a few in Mudgee). Most of the caches were in good order, so all in all it was a good day's caching. Thanks to all of the COs for providing this trail and caches

On our christmas family break away, got sent into Mudgee to buy supplies and couldnt resist making a start on the trlt series, we figured the family wouldnt miss us for a couple of hours. Love series like this that take you off the main roads. Really appreciate the effort in setting and maintaining this series, all caches have been in good order too. Calves were very interested in thus cache business. Tftc

1st of 38 finds (& 5 DNFs) today.
Day 3 of the long weekend for which I have come up to plunder caches in the Mid West Regional council. After DNFing "Gulgong Tour", I returned to The Road Less Travelled, starting where I had finished last night. Mopping up the last dozen or so in this leg through Two Mile Flat, Gulgong and Galambine took me about an hour and a half. TFTC to all the COs involved.
Sorry it's mostly going to be a copy/paste affair, but there will be the occasional extra commentary where anything of note happened...

On the way home to the Upper Hunter from Dubbo. Me, my 3 minions and geo sister Gibberish101 decided we would attempt a section of this series. We weren't expecting a dirt road after checking a few times on the maps and found there was really no good places to pull over at most the cache sites. I wasn't game to get the geokiddies out of the car most of the time so Giberish101 went hunting and brought the caches back for my minions to do their trades
Spent the afternoon driving AWTYOW, Geogangstas and Gabstar down the road less travelled. Great fun caching through the countryside here! TFTC
TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.
Found as part of a weekend away with Hoojar. We headed up towards Gulgong the first night and camped near the start/ end of TRLT (@ -5 degrees ). The next day we made it through some nice historic places and great rolling countryside to finish up at Sunny Corner after a feed in Bathurst. The next day a few more finds before we headed home. Plenty of roadkill spotted, not many cars and not too much trouble at each cache. Thanks to all those cache hiders .
The opportunity finally arose that Steeba and I both had a free weekend to go caching. We quickly settled upon the northern half of The Road Less Traveled series. We drove to Gulgong via Mudgee after work on Friday, camping just before midnight at the suggested TSR nearby.
Saturday we made our way via the caching trail, and the odd additional cache, to Bathurst for dinner, then back onto the trail to Sunny Corner where we again camped for the evening.
Sunday we turned our heads for home, via a few additional cache stops in Portland and Wallerawang.
A fantastic weekend away, with excellent country to be seen and company to be had. We enjoyed the caches that we found.
Thank you to all of the cache owners, and sorry for the boiler-plate logs!

14165. Found during a run through the Bathurst to Mudgee region this long weekend.
Having completed the southern part of TRLT series last month I had the northern part of the series on my radar for this long weekend - plus as many extras as there are along the way. After spending the Saturday night in Mudgee I hit the road again early today to finish up as much as I could. All but two of today's caches were found and all were nicely hidden with good sized containers. This was the next find for the day. Quick find at GZ . Log signed, cache replaced, and I headed off to the next one.
Thanks to all the COs for their caches - it was a great run up through this area.

1/5/17 Found with muppet95. Muppet95 mentioned to me that he was keen to hit up The Road Less Travelled series and we decided to take a few days off to go on a bit of a road trip. I wanted to shoot for a goal of finding at least 200 caches in a 24 hours period and we made plans accordingly. We drove up to Gulgong on the first day and arrived in the early afternoon. We started The Road Less Travelled series there and headed south towards Mudgee, picking up approximately 30 geocaches on the way. We spent the night camping on the outskirts of Mudgee and had an early night, with the expectation of an early start to have the best chance of reaching our goal of 200 caches the next day. At the crack of dawn on day 2, we packed up camp and set out on the trail, finding our first for the day at 7 AM. We then spent the next 14 hours travelling The Road Less Travelled, caching the series and picking up some additional caches along the way. We powered on well after the light of day had disappeared, because we were on a mission and were resolute in our efforts to achieve our goal for the day. We reached a point, down near Gurnang in the pine forest, where the area a cache in the series was supposed to be had been logged and we could not continue, without backtracking and going the long way around. We made the decision to turn around and head back to Oberon, where we would pick up the last remaining few to reach our target number. I am very sad to say that on the way out of the pine forest, a wombat ran out as we were driving past and was struck by the underside of the car. We stopped immediately and I rushed over to its aid. The poor thing was in not in a good way and I did what I could to provide some comfort but it faded away within a matter of minutes. The accident is very distressing and upsetting, and it put a real dampener on a long and tiring day. There was nothing we could do at that point, so we continued on our way back to Oberon, picking up some more caches in town. We reached our campsite and setup, keen to rest up and have a deserved sleep in. It was another cold night, definitely dropping below zero degrees. We woke in the morning and, after packing up, we made our way back to the big smoke. Thanks For The Caches to the respective Cache Owners, and for putting this series together, which takes us on a different route along the Road Less Travelled. We will have to come back at another point in the future to try and finish off the series, and hope that one day the series may be extended further for everyone’s enjoyment.
Road trip North to tackle The Road Less Travelled Series with JordsAU! I’ve wanted to try this trail for a while but hadn’t found anyone to try it with. I ran it by Jords a few weeks back & after checking the roster for the week, the stars aligned and we started organising it. He was aiming for “200 caches in a day”, so we planned the trail as best we could!
Monday – we drove up to Gulgong to start the trail. We worked our way down to Mudgee (~30 caches) before setting up camp for the night. We had an early night so we could smash out a big day.
Tuesday – packing up at sunrise and setting out, the big day begun! We reached the first 100 by 2:00pm (7 hours elapsed). We were worried that we weren’t going to reach the 200 milestone considered how far we had to go and how long we had been tracking! The stretch from the Great Western Highway to Oberon made great time and we were on 150 caches. Instead of heading into Oberon to set up camp in daylight, we decided the best use of the remaining daylight would be to push through into the night for the last 50. Eventually we were down to the last handful, when we hit an area of the forest that had been logged. To make up the last few, we assumed there would be caches in Oberon, so we drove 50km back to town. We made the 200 at the Oberon Memorial Site and called it a (long) day.
Wednesday – I was all ran down from the big day, so we made our way back home! I found a few in Sydney, and made the drive back down home. It was a good to unpack and have a nice hot shower. Now for the long laborious task of entering these logs!
Thank you to all the Cache Owners along this trail. It was a real joy to visit another part of this great country we call home. It’ll be easier for me to return to the trail via Goulburn/Crookwell to finish off the series (and hopefully visit any further extensions). TFTC’s!

What a fabulous adventure I enjoyed with my great mates, Skyebomonkeytown and Team Canary. Our base was in the Capertee Valley at a friend’s hideaway. We had an early start to get to Mudgee for ParkRun then, after a bite to eat for breakfast, it was time to tackle The Road Less Travelled. It is obvious this series took a lot of effort to organise and to get it up and running. A big thank you to all the COs for your hard work. It is greatly appreciated.

Had a great weekend with Calypso62 and Team Canary attempting the first half of TRLT (most logs signed as a combo of C62 TC and SBMT). We stayed at a friend's place in the Capertee Valley and "commuted" both days through the lovely countryside. We also incorporated the Mudgee parkrun into our weekend on Saturday morning - C62 and my first. Thanks to all COs for the series.

Picked the place straight up - and had to have a little bit of a search around it!
Very nice cache! Thanks
Very nice cache! Thanks
Up from Canberra on a solo geomission to Bathurst, Mudgee and surrounds The focus of the weekend was to attack as many of the TRLT series as I could as well as any others along the way!
Most of these were found quite quickly and I enjoyed the drive around the countryside collecting them. Apologies for the cut/paste logs - I found so many on the journey I can't possibly remember them all!
Thanks for the hide, Buggerme

A quick check to make sure we were not leaking fuel and the cache was an easy find, we decided we were ok with the patch and would check it much later.
On a caching adventure to Mudgee with pprass we set out to see some country side and some interesting caches.
Day one of the Power Trail - great country side - not a boring drive at all.
Thanks for the cache

Day four of our five day geocaching trip from Brisbane to Canberra for Easter. Today we cached from Gulgong to Sofala, on the road not so often traveled, working for our 100-in-a-day challenge.
We are caching for 100 or more: that is our aim, so nice quick finds are the order of the day. So these logs will be rather generic - written up after the trip is well and truly over.
The country we traversed was wonderfully varied - a few Ks of sealed road but the majority was gravel - easily handled by our GeoFalcon, although we laughed several times at how the white dust (in sharp contrast to the usual brown and red of Queensland) made it look like a ghost car.
We crossed many causeways, traversed valleys and crossed mountain ridges. Scenery was magnificent. All in all we have only two DNFs in the total trail, so that was a bonus.
Would we recommend this trail? An unequivocal YES!
Yes, GZ was very obvious.

We discovered all those many a couple of days ago.
We have solved all the interesting mysteries before we started our trip to the Mid Western Region of NSW.
Day 1
We started the day in Meadow Flat, followed by Sunny Corner and Dark Corner past Palmers Oakley.
We loved the hilly nature along many peaceful Gravel roads. Many smilies were forming on our map.
We finished the day in Bathurst.
Day 2
We started all fresh again in the morning. Leaving Bathurst, we were able to get going about faster along the sealed road.
We reached Sofala at around lunch time. We couldn't believe that about 40,000 used to live here. It really seemed that the city stopped developing in around the 1850's..
We continued towards Hills End and Windeyer through dry grassy land in 47 degrees heat.
We spend such a beautiful night here in Windeyer in the caravan park. We booked one of the train accomodation where you got to stay in the train back in time. What a great experience. We really liked Windeyer as it seemed so far away from all the city rush. Te locals were very welcoming and were happy to see us in the pub next door for dinner.
What a great community living were it seems like everyone knows everyone.
Day 3
We left Windeyer after a big breakfast. We travelled along Hills End Road until we reached the turn towards another Gravel road. There wer many animals to watch and it got even hotter and hotter.
This day ended in Mudgee.
Day 4
We took a look at Mudgee city today were we searched for a couple of caches and ten continued towards Rylstone.
After we continued to the Wollemi National Park which a good friend recommended us to go. Here we climbed on the top of the mountain and simply enjoyed the stunning view and the tranquil nature.
After, we traveled towards Kandos, Capertee, Cullen Bullen, Portland and Wallerawang back home to Sydney.
We hereby would like to thank all owners for this great interesting tour. We got to see many historical places and sometimes felt like as if we were living back in the the 1850's, which is a good thing.
Thanks
