No much to see here really.. or maybe it is all overgrown. We were distracted by a decoy cache for a while.. but then after further searched realised where the real GZ was. Merry Xmas (decoy). Thanks surefoot24.

Yesss its there! Not quite what I expected. After having a deja vu memory at the last two multis, here's a new one yet to find! I wandred down here dodging rain drops after spending a day and a bit at Leongatha and Inverloch. Now it's the long trip home to higher altitudes in the NE. TFTC and the lure!

I removed a layer of clinging on rust from the cache. Cache and log are okay. A nice, short walk to finish off my day of caching. Now to my motel for the night. TFTC surefoot24.

Today was the day to give the new car a freeway and country run. Skylizard and I set off to Koo Wee Rup for this purpose and to get a few caches. This was our third for the day. Parked the car, took a pleasant short stroll to a quick find. Log was a bit damp but able to sign. TFTC de ja vu.

Thanks for a quick and easy find.We always enjoy learning about our wildlife.Thankfully this Bandicoot is still hanging on and we have a chance to prevent it from extinction like so many more of our native plants and animals which have disappointingly disappeared. Awareness and education is the key.TFTC

We were out and about doing the AUSLAN trail but found ourselves on. Wed of fuel so weve decided to head back towards home picking a few sneaky singles up along the way. The medium one used the hint and the cache was soon on hand.TFTC

**Traditional Find #3185**

I was on my way home after a successful FTF hunt at Bayles, so I stopped here to attempt this cache. A very pleasant walk in the afternoon sun and a quick find at GZ. Sorry to have to report that the log was saturated. I was able to sign with my powertank biro, but a new log is required.

18-Feb-23
I was out at Pakenham today at my cousins place so had a little bit of spare time so decided to start on this series of nicely located caches just off the highway.
I then took a southerly round-a-bout route back towards home so it wasn't just a boring freeway trip and stopped by at a few trads along the way and this was one of them.
I went down the wrong street and parked and then realised I could have driven right to the cache along the side track. Oh well, I need to exercise anyway.
Thanks surefoot24 for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Quick find
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

Out on a Christmas break with sir_spectre, exploring southern Victoria grabbing lots of smilies, finding caches in LGA's and of course signing a few more challenges.

*Found on the 20 Aug 2022 @ 9:58 am.*
*Cache find # 13172.*

There wasn’t a lot of caches to find between the 2nd and 3rd events but I did have this one to find.
After a short walk we were at GZ where it wasn’t long before the cache was found and the log signed.

Today I headed out with buhfuhguh on this International Geocaching day to crawl to a few events and try to pick up a few other caches along the way even though the time frame was a bit tight sometimes, we ended up with six events for the day.

**Thanks to de ja vu for placing this cache.**

So Tiz13 didn't read the instructions and was a bit baffled when the Geo car Ms Safphire initially took her to some houses woops. Slight detour and I was back on track. This cache was on my to find list as I made my way to the next event - twice as special having just met the CO duo...I'm wondering if GZ is one of Laurie's unfinished Art works. The sun is starting to shine and hopefully the rain has finished for the day.

On the way to Philip Island with Prezdough for the International Geocaching Day event starter. We figured we would arrive early to stay the night and attend event 1 in Cowes.
This cache was a quick park and grab.
Unfortunately the container was stuck deep so ot was a grab in the dark down low.
Fortunately made without any creepy crawlies nipping us.
So the log filled and off we went.
The cache, container and log are in excellent condition.
I visited 3 TB.

Found with CJDenno. We were driving to Phillip Island tonight and found a place for dinner in the lovely town of Koo Wee Rup. We ate at the fish and chips shop and then noticed there was a cache not too far away. We parked in the carpark listed, and walked to GZ. We arrived at GZ and knew where this one was. We wrote our names in the logbook and headed off to Phillip Island.

I visited 3 TB

Release the masses day +1, and Vinz Clortho, the keymaster is out a wandering, from the mountains to the sea, his search for Zuul never ending.
In this place he may find a clue to her whereabouts, a small artifact hidden from sight by a piece of history.
Alas on this rain day, no hint to locate Zuul is found in this somewhat damp and soggy place, so Vinz consoles by leaving his mark within the record and continues on.

#2054 - 6.20pm
Heymissjo and I had the day to ourselves.
"Wherever shall we do?, we asked each other.
Well, after a canon or two, an uninspiring bacon and egg roll or two, a One sided basketball game, some agitated farmers and a string of DNFs while chasing 'quad' attributes... we somehow found ourselves plunging into the impenetrable fog which descended on Koo Wee Rup tonight and transformed into a rather eerie town straight out of the Twilight Zone.
Food was needed and naturally, as we waited, we cached.
And here we came, through the fog, in the night, keen to break our inexplicabe DNF streak.

And we did.

It was nice to read about the 'bung', or the Southern Brown Bandicoot. The Mini-Welders know all about them.

Thanks so much to de ja vu for providing us some much needed geo-joy.
All is well with the cache.

Now with the rest of the night free...
"Whatever shall we do?!"

It’s alway nice to find a cache….
Under the deep dense fog
In the dark and misty rain.
I’m caching with my Welder on a kid free weekend and after watching a mini Welder play basketball, we decide to hunt out some caches in an unfamiliar area.

But you see, we had a mission today!
We weren’t just hunting any caches… but rather caches with a quad attribute!
Maybe the geo-gods didn’t like that plan
After the first find
It was subsequently followed by three DNFs!!
THREE!!!
It’s rare to get a run of two, but three!
Granted the CO of two is not known for maintenance, but we had hoped for a smily nonetheless.

With our tail between our legs, we decided our tummy’s needed filling and so we stopped nearby to order some food. Of course with a fifteen minute wait..
The Welder and I looked at each other and grinned.
Just enough time for a cache!!
And so with this cache spied. I smiled
For this CO is a geo-friend
And it reminded The Welder and I of an important moment, a FTF virtual hunt and a crazy day two years with another one of this COs caches. Geocaching is made of memories. Thanks de ja vu for another great cache… and finally a smily!

This was my first weekend in Melbourne for months, owing to some birthday and other engagements. Saturday was free however so I teamed up with OzHockeyChick to go exploring for the day.

A nice quick walk to stretch the legs. Was hoping for an old school turntable at GZ - a bit of wishful thinking! Found and signed the log.

Thanks de ja vu for the cache.

Off on a road trip to stay at Grantville for a few days, explore the area and attend River Garden Working Bee at Bass. We decided to pick up a few caches on the way. Since I was three years old, I have been holidaying at Phillip Island and have driven through this area, probably hundreds of times, and never realised there was a railway line. Thank you for this cache de ja vu.

12-Feb-21
We didn’t find the bandicoot until after we had signed the log, but then we understood the cache name. Good coords made for a quick find.

Since Victorians were released from Stage 3 lockdown we have tried to get out regularly to do a caching run. Our plans for travelling the central parts of NSW and Q’land were thrown into disarray in 2020, so our caching numbers for the year ended up being our worst in 10 years of caching, so we are keen to up the ante this year. As usual we met up with caching buddy Rebel Acts, and as a result have signed many of our joint finds RASP.
After leaving home in the rain we arrived in Warragul to see it get heavier. The forecast said it would clear towards later morning, but we were more hopeful than believing. However the further west we travelled the drier it got, and ended up a lovely day-weather wise that it. Unfortunately as we took a break to have lunch it was to hear Dan announce a short, sharp Stage 4 lockdown for the entire state. Thank goodness we decided to do the caching run today instead of tomorrow! We blame Rebel. Last year we were on a caching run with him at Glenmaggie when Dan announced the Stage 3 lockdown. We ended up with a full house after that, our daughter moved in with her husband and their kids so we could help them cope with working from home, remote schooling and preschool watching.

Another great day out with My friends Skipair who picked Me up from home for a day out caching, we picked this area for today's fun and to clean a few unfound caches off the map.

This is one of the caches we found on our travels. We had no trouble finding the cache today, I was so hoping the turntable was still here, but it looks like it had been gone for some time.

Logs signed as RASP

Thanks de ja vu for the cache.

As I headed home from Kilcunda, I stopped in Koo Wee Rup for a quick rest stop. After grabbing some much needed food and drink, I headed down the path of the old railway to have a look for this cache. I was able to find the cache easily enough, but disaster struck when replacing it back in its hiding place. I ended up having to rescue the container as it had slipped a lot further than I was expecting it to. Luckily I could reach it, but it was a close run thing! TFTC de ja vu.

We have used the bus interchange a few times, on our way to Lang Lang. Today we came by car and enjoyed checking the nearby remains of the railway infrastructure: The rail trail, turntable area, some signal posts, and the information about bandicoots, all of this serenaded by frog song and without any human encounters.
This bandicoot had lost its footing and was residing in a very deep hole. We managed to free it using a tool. Upon opening the container, we saw that the logbook is beyond repair. Tried to scratch our signature into the paper maché, but it is not really visible. After carefully closing it, we returned it into place at a more suitable elevation, making use of the magnet.
Wish we had spotted a live bandicoot, too. The closest we got to that was hearing an animal rushing away into the tall grass, which we decided was a good thing to leave alone.

Victoria Day 5: Phillip Island and back again.

Today’s main agenda was to visit Phillip Island for the Penguin Parade, but that left us with the better part of the day for other affairs. One of the aims was the old cache at the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, and to have a very nice hike through Cape Woolamai on Phillip Island. All the objectives were had and we had a very good time watching the penguins retuning home, though that did mean a very late return to Melbourne. A great day out with a side of caching.

This is the specific log for this cache:
A short walk down the trail led me to this one, though the bandicoot sign threw me off a little. A lady walking her dog warned me about snakes as I descended into the brush, but I persisted for the cache. Found it easily so TFTC!

I had found quite a few cache out this way but this morning I was able to plan a trip to tackle a few that I hadn't tried before in Lang Lang, Bayles and Koo Wee Rup. After a few other finds along the way I headed on to this as my next target. I parked nearby (though in hindsight I don't think it was the right spot to park in)_ and walked off to GZ. On approach I spied a likely target but that hunch proved to be wrong. I soon corrected and shorty after had the cache in hand., My ninth find of eleven for the day. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache de ja vu.
