Logs
Came by train, was aiming for a mirco in Croydon but missed that train by minutes due to rhe tram running late, so just got on the next train to wherever. Decided to get off here as I have a 2023 Crawl Ad lab stage to get and then do the iso hillclimb Ad lad. Couldn't miss this on the way up, but spent over 20 minutes looking until it was found. I must have walked past it a dozen times. But now it's signed. A lovely hide, thanks.
This one alluded me for a while - since May at least! Glad to come back on a not-too-wet winter's day with my geobag of equipment. It was a good thing I did, as I did a little bit of venturing through the branches. The coords were a little off for me but it wasn't too far away. Very cute camo! TFTC
He took us ages but we got him, we were starting to think he had been muggled, we also found the fence and backtracked, them did circles and circles but got him
Didnt have much hope for this one as it had so many dnf so Took longer then we wanted but between me and the geopartner we finally had him hand tftc
Had to come back for this one as Errol was hiding away. Logbook signed. Tftc and good luck others.
This one took us a bit longer than expected as we led ourselves through a well worn path into the bushes until we stopped at a fence right at someones property, still no luck after a thorough search and a bit of help we were able to make this sneaky little find. Thanks for the cache! ️
I was in the area to complete the AL and search out a few caches before I headed to work in The Basin.
After tackling these impressive steps, I almost forgot about this cache, and had to backtrack a little. As others have mentioned, I initially ventured too far into the undergrowth, but realising my error, made my way back towards the path.
Errol was quite elusive, and I wondered if he was avoiding me, before I spotted him skulking amongst the leaf litter on the ground.
The log is dry and in good condition, and after signing, I replaced Errol as per the description and hint.

I searched for this bug for quite a while, using the hint and comments to help. Unfortunately I found nothing. Bah.
We approached this one from the bottom. Having walked up the road plus the steps, we were blowing pretty hard when we arrived at GZ.
A bit of hunting around and soon enough we spotted the sneaky little critter.
Thanks 'The Rusty's' for the cache, the exercise and the great view.
Chiefton!!!

The weather this week continues to be amazing and so today I decided to make the most of it. It was finally time to finish off the NHL series I had started over a year ago and gather some other nearby caches.
I dropped by to grab the ad lab here and noticed there was a physical cache also. After parking the car and it almost rolling down the hill with the park brake in, I managed to get it to remain stationary long enough to make the find.
My GPS wanted me to go further into the bushes but I soon discovered I was almost in someone’s front yard so I retreated, and soon found the cache.
Thanks The Rustys for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

Found this cache whilst doing the ISO exercise AL. What a lot of stairs to climb then had to back track to search for the cache. TFTC
Came by to replace the log but couldn’t even find it!! Blind geocacher alert!! Things have changed a lot here. Will be back to replace it soon.

My word, that was more of an adventure than I had bargained for! As I was about to leave home for the daily dog walk and cache find I noticed a big group of ominous clouds rolling in. Waiting for 30mins was a great idea as a few moments later the house was rattling with the sounds of hail and crazy winds. Seeing a break in the clouds and blue sky in this direction I headed out.
To be fair I thought I knew where I was going so when I saw a steep set of steps heading up the hill I found a car park and headed up. As I was puffing my way to the top a good friend called so I sat on a rock and had a great chat. Once that was over and much to the dog's delight we continued up the hill only to look at my app and realise I was on the wrong set of steps! *facepalm*
By this stage the blue sky had once again been covered in threatening clouds and we could see them rolling over the top of the other ridge and heading in our direction. Being the brave people we are we decided a little rain wouldn't hurt us... but wait was that thunder? Oh nope, just a truck! Noticing my shoelace was undone I bent down to tie it back up and manged to sit in a puddle by accident, so now nothing was dry haha!
We walked across the road from the top and headed down towards GZ. Soon I was in a spot where the GPS said 0metres to the cache. Hmm, nothing here and not a single sign of other cachers, that's odd. I walked down the hill another 10m and what do you know 0m to the cache again, but still nothing. Ok, time to tie the dogs to a pole and head into the bushes then. Finally I found signs of other people's movements and was sure I was close but still nothing. Just as I was about to head back out to the dogs to read more logs I found the little bug! As the last finder said the log is full and that's most definitely why I didn't sign it (not because I left my pen back at the start )!
Thanks for the cache and a bit of adventure on an otherwise boring day of lockdown!

A busy day, attempting to log more types than I ever have.
Mission accomplished, along with getting today's event organiser to said events.
Type 12: Adventure Lab
No, I'm aware that this ain't one of those, but it was in the midst of The Hills & Stairs of Upper Gully: my iso exercise, created by Zeus, Hera and kids.
I'm sure n0w0rries will forgive me for marching him up to the water tower and back. Eventually.
Checking the map showed me a blip I'd passed at the beginning of the Adventure Lab. So I went for a scramble on the way back down the stairs, and now I've got another series started.
Thanks, The Rusty's. A fun little hide. Errol says hi.

At last the four reasons for leaving home have been lifted and we are allowed to travel in a 25km radius of home so we mad the most of it by coming out to grab some labs and of course grab anything else that was near by.
This one was a welcome relief from the steps as we realised that we should have done a bit more exercise through ISO. Fortunately there were no other people using this walkway today so searching was made easy and we spotted the container and didn't see the bug until we were returning the log. Unfortunately we didn't read the cache page properly before getting there and will have to return to get the clue.
Thanks The Rusty's for the cache

Found it after awhile looking under the holes in the stairs then I found a trail and I found it great hide tftc
Walked down from the top and then realised that I had to walk UP to get out! Found the cache immediately and on signing it realised that I had some unloved on my hands! I dare say there will be a few like that with Covid. Many thanks The Rusteys.
Out and about with echidna44 and the men as support (sitting in the car) Oh no is that stairs again we see. Just take them one at a time I say. What an area for views and challenging house constructions. This one had us going for quite a while. Had our minds set on where it was going to be and must to slow as it took a while for the penny to drop. Looked at other alternates and then noticed a vital clue. I found it I blow and echidna comes running. I feel finding difficulty could be increased. Good one that sneaky blighter. Picked up what we needed. Thanks for the workout and excellent hide grug
Out for a drive with xambo4u and others, we stopped for this extra cache not realising there would be so much leg work involved. (Having just done two others caches nearby that were on steps) We searched for a while before finding the elusive critter.
Thanks The Rusty’s

The sixth of 8 caches today with Fitzelfleas and geochild. Having grabbed Tow cars passing, we approached form the high side of the stairs, which made for an easy find TFTC
We’d been finding the caches in the series gradually over a few years and I’d realised we only had this one left to be able to gather all the info for the last one. I’m trying to fill in some dates on my “found” calendar so it seemed like the perfect day to get this one.
The car GPS took us to the top of the steps, but with nowhere obvious to park safely I looked at the map and decided to approach it from the bottom instead. Mmmm, it wasn’t quite what I was expecting! I’d planned to drive to the bottom of the steps but realised I wasn’t driving a mountain goat and didn’t fancy trying to turn around at the top so we parked in the side street and walked it.
Let’s just say it’s STEEP! I have a bit of vertigo so I had to look at the ground as I walked, guided by Geodaughter and geopup. We made it to the steps and then finally got to cache area. E decided I was too old and feeble and vertigo-y to leave the steps, so the dog and I waited for her to find it. After a few minutes I went to help and found it straight away, unusual because it’s normally the other way around
The view was spectacular, though it didn’t help the vertigo much, but we all made it back to the car with some lovely freesia’s we picked on the way down.

This was one painful cache to get to. Had to walk up a jiant hill then up a bunch of stairs in the wind. And it didn't help with a mum who has vertigo. Got there in the end with Geomum and Geodog still intact and ready to find the final with all the other caches and their clues in our back pockets.

Heymissjo and I took longer than necessary to find Errol. I think he was hiding from us. After some time Jo spotted him and we got to sign the log.

Wow! It's been over three years since I found Horace - where on Earth did those years go?!? Amazingly I even remembered to record the clue from him - something I am usually not very good at... Errol was a tricky little critter as um well as usual we (G of GJMMelb and I) hadn't read the cache page so didn't have the hint contained there-in. But G' spotted a likely looking spot and after a quick search I spotted Errol's "backpack" despite him trying to hide out of sight. TFTC - I hope to complete the series sometime this decade!...
In the area today so I met up with Quiet1_au to find a few caches. This cache was close to where we were so we decided to drive to closest parking spot. Therefore we went down the stairs rather than up. I had not read the cache page so we had a bit of a hunt. I saw a likely area but I was unsure of the terrain rating which seemed high. Q looked around and spotted that cache. Thanks The Rusty's

Whilst at the nearby hospital for another cache, I saw this one within walking distance and immediately recognised the series name (just double-checked and I found "Pedro" almost two years ago... where does the time go?) and remembering it was a great one just had to come and take a look.
A short-ish walk (more of a climb...?) later and I was at GZ. I initially managed to walk past Errol without noticing him, but then spotted him when I thought I'd gone too far, turned around to backtrack, and there he was!
My visit with Errol was by necessity a quick one today, as after a brief clear spell while I came up here the foul weather had now returned with a vengeance, so I quickly signed the log, photographed the clue (I'll do them all, sooner or later!) and visited a trackable before heading off once more.
Thanks for the cache and series, The Rusty's.

I tried to approach this from the hospital and suddenly felt I was on someone’s driveway. Although I wasn’t it was evident I was going to have nowhere to park and so reversed back out and was going to leave it for another night. While driving to get another cache I realised I was not far away but on the opposite side of the cache and so navigated as close as I could before taking to feet. Hunting around in the dark and being cautious of the neighbours I soon found the cache peeking out at me from its hiding spot.
Be careful of the blackberry starting to grow in the area it snagged me a couple of times
Thanks The Rusty's for the cache.

Holy quad burn Batman! Thought I'd tackle this one from the bottom - what a workout! On a nice cool day I was sweating up a storm. Cheers for the hide! Loved Errol!
It was very hot and with a 9 year old I have decided to leave this for another day
After looking around for a while, I read through the cache page and the cache was soon in hand. All in good condition. TFTC
Definitely an easier Trek to this one if you start at the top of the steps . Thanks Rusty's
Definitely didn't fancy climbing up the steps so Jules6 and I came at it from the top. Actually finding the top of the steps was a bit tricky. We soon found this little beauty, thanks to the geo trail. (who ever invented them were onto a good thing). Thanks Rusty's, I loved the view down the hill.
This was the last cache of my Dandenogs section of the day as I was seemingly distracted by an FTF that popped up in Berwick. But on to this cache, with my memory serving me right I have only found one other cache in this series so I was keen to tick another one off the to do list with this one. With a quick look at GZ I noticed a pen on the ground and soon after that the cache was found. Huzzah haha. But with that all said and done I signed the log and continued on my way. Thanks for the cache and the little adventure.
We parked at the top and walked down (definitely looks like someone’s driveway ) and found Errol. Took in the view, signed log and off to the next one. Having a ball.TFTC The Rusty’s.
Out looking for local caches and found this little treasure .. opps nearly had a pen malfunction TFTC
Found with My good caching Mate Trail Running and his two kids, had a great day doing some quality caches in the area. Thanks The Rustys for the cache.
Spent a few hours with an old caching buddy I haven't seen in a while, RebelActs and my kids on a caching run through the area. Nice day for a cache and some really nice hides. Thanks
I had decided that I would take the day off work and relax by walking some of the trails in the Dandenongs however I pulled up a bit lame (old sports injury...or perhaps just a sprained ankle) so I took a slightly easier option in the vicinity.
I had to make the decision of top down or bottom up but due to the lack of parking at the bottom that decision was made for me. I made my way to the GZ and have to admit that after a few minutes I was not having much luck then I happened to look at the right angle and all was revealed. A quick retrieval. I had just got to the top of the steps when I remembered that I had not made note of the clue so back down I went. TFTC.

This was a question of should we go up and then down or down and then up. We picked the first options and soon found Errol who was good enough to offer us up a cache. We also found a pencil nearby so asked Errol to mind it for the next cacher. TFTC.
Perfect weather for caching day in Bayswater/The Basin area. Lovely view from here and very hilly. Found it. Thanks The Rusty's for the cache..
This one is very close to my house and so I didn't have to wrestle with the horrible parking situation in this area. I made the quick walk up the very steep hill and after a few minutes bushbashing I came across our good friend Errol. Signed the log, walked home - but I forgot to get the clue!! Oh well, back up the hill I go..........
After scoping out the bottom and not feeling confident with the parking situation we drove around to the top. Much better idea! Cache was located quickly. TFTC
Found after a bit of a hike up the steps, once at the top we realised we could have just walked down, as we had driven past the top at the beginning. Looking under steps for ages, almost gave up but then my 12 yr old sister found it!
Errol was nice to me today. Firstly, he came out of hiding. I needed that after a long day helping my Great Aunt around the house. Secondly, he actually spoke back. I said "Say nothing if you are happy, Errol". He said nothing. What geocache wouldn't be happy to be a geocache? Therefore, I know that Errol is a good Jitterbug I ran into the lady who lived down the driveway, she was dumbfounded as to why I would want to "exercise on those steps", and suggested I support her campaign to complain to the council about the gate, and the condition of the steps. Sure he gate needs attention, but the steps are fine! I assured her I would help her campaign, and sauntered off to my car, pleased she thought I went up and down those steps so quickly! Found with 4bait and mark9375 on a very cold and windy night. I'm glad I read the cache page otherwise we would have never found the steps to lead to this one. It's certainly a different experience caching this area at night. TFTC

Wow what a work out but what a spectacular view and great little cache. Thanks
Quick stair challenge while I was in the area. Made the near-fatal mistake of trying to climb one stair every step, and even with my long legs that proved unwise.
IPhone took a while to settle at the GZ but shortly the cache was in hand. Rubber seal on the bison tube has snapped, but I didn't have a spare.
TFTC - now for the fun of the downhill return trip.

We walked up a steep hill. It was a hard walk on a hot day. We searched for a little while. But in the end we found it. I liked the geocache more than I liked the walk.
thank you.
thank you.
Yes - we approached from the bottom so had quite a climb up the hill. Nothing like a cardio workout! Quick find once at GZ. TFTC
Phew! That was a rather sweaty lunchtime walk from the Angliss. Well worth it. Thanks!
After recovering from the altitude sickness and lack of air I managed to concentrate enuf to find Errol. What a handsome little dude he is too. Back to my bus nice and sweaty. Beautiful view. Mumma E
Today we explored Berwick and surrounds using geocaching as a guide and picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them. An easy find and collected the required clue for the final cache.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Saw a huge lizard basking in the sunshine!!! Sat down with him to rest our legs haha.
#345 - 6.10pm
It was a gorgeous sunny afternoon with the Mini-Welders on board. I thought it fitting to park at the bottom of the street, not far from where The Green Minion came into the world. And after all, we should find this Jitterbug the right way and 'earn' the terrain rating - and hopefully it'll wear out the Minis in the process!! Hehehe.
We began the ascent.
It was no Mt Juliet.
Nor was it A Thousand Steps.
But suddenly the Minis were advising me of legs that no longer worked, hills that were too big and some other stuff communicated in that whining pitch that only dogs can hear...
We stopped to watch a Wanderer butterfly and a couple piggybacks later and we were most of the way up to the top. Dynamo stopped to play with the freshly cut grass - now, who would run a lawn mower at this altitude?? I gave him the GPS while Emeylo, TGM and I continued on to briefly admire the view at the top. We quickly returned down to rejoin Dynamo. I continued the search for Errol. The Minis also looked for 2 minutes before they went and played in the bushes. Then somehow they discovered the exhilaration of running DOWN the stairs...
We all know what happened next...
Emeylo was the one who trying to break a land speed record when she performed an unplanned forward triple somersault with 1.5 twists in the spread eagle position.
Some tears.
Some bruises.
Some missing skin.
But nothing too serious.
Dynamo cared for her using the freshly cut grass he was so find of as some impromptu herbal treatment.
After seeing that she was okay TGM and I climbed back up to GZ to finish the mission. The Minis must have only juuuust missed seeing Errol before... We found him this time and he kindly bestowed upon us some tickets to the upcoming Extravaganza. We signed off for them using a regular biro since the mandatory geo-pen had been left at home for the first time in months. The log, though water resistant and in great condition, was wet and seemed determined to frustrate the biro. It reminded me of how amazing Power Tank pens are!! But we scrawled our name down in the end and now we are looking forward to Mildred's big show.
Thanks Rust-eze... Ka-Chow!!
(The Minis made me do it!) Hehehe.

What a helpful CO. Not only did I take the time to READ the cache description and thus gain a much easier ingress but there is a view to elevate the spirits and a natural seat to sign the log and rest if one had come up from the bottom of the steps. You can't ask for much more than that....
Oh my god...... Thighs are burning, parked at the bottom of Talaskia and walked up the hill, beautiful view! Tftc!
This is an extraordinary location. I'm a little jealous. We don't have this sort of thing on the utterly flat drained swamp that is the outer bayside suburbs. It took me ages to find the stairway though because its entrance is less than conspicuous and I initially thought the horizontal portion was someone's driveway. That does actually seem to be the case, for all intensive porpoises. Upper Ferntree Gully is not something I claim to understand. Errol was was spotted rather quickly after that delay and his secret was liberated. I may have punched the air with my fist. But it seems fairly unlikely. Thanks The Rustys!
Did you know that this cache is 2.04k from the, seat watching the TV at ferntree gully Toyota, I know a useless fact, but that's life.... Had to be over here at 830, but when I was coming across twice a week for 6 month about 2 years ago it could take forever, so I set out early and off course flew across so with half an hour to kill this one was on the agenda, drove to within 50 metres, but couldn't park there of course, so back down the hill to park. And look up and think this co is a meany. Anyhow of I went, huff, puff and puff a lot more... Finally got there for a quick find and sign... Only one more to go...than the final.. Thanks for the early morning work out..not...lol

Entrance to pathway is closed but after seeing a few muggles climb over we did too. Took a while but we Found the little bug. Great view.
Did you know its 229 meters from the 1 st chair in the emergency room waiting room to this cache. Oh so close yet so far, so technically a dnh ( did not hunt), but had to fill in time so may as well do a dnf.. Plus maybe some useful information for future hunters. And its good to log another rusty cache. How much more can I write. Better stop or the co will think I'm mad.. Hi co...
