After a tasty pie and sauce for breakfast I headed to a known location to pick up some rubbish, enjoyed a colourful sunrise and poked a bear . It was then that I decided to make the most of this early start.I headed home, hopped on my bike , rode a couple of trains and followed a trail of caches into the vines .A most enjoyable day/night down south finding treasures.TFTC LBKeep smiling
Found pretty quick by D, after guidance from M.(The 4Bs have all growed up now. ??)TFTC. ??
Perfectly sunny day for a pedal Prob did 16 or so kliks from McLaren Vale to Old Noarlunga return - map showed 13km as the crow flies. Mixed results on the caching but picked up the pace closer to the coast. A swag of DNFs near my start point on the Shiraz Trail Then back to the Shingleback winery a bit later for tasting after I stowed the bike on the car.
Impressed with the good coords. Liked the containers for ride-by caching. A couple of hides with a Terrain rating of mountain goat but I was wearing runners. One butt slide to get back down to the track. A few waves and strange looks from others taking advantage of the balmy weather
Some scrambling required to reach this cache
Saving the other half of this trail for another day
TFTC COs Couldn’t have asked for a better excursion today.

After searching all possible spots I could think of at GZ and coming up empty handed, I reached out for assistance.
I got a detailed description of where the cache was hidden and it definitely was gone, so the cache has been replaced from my collection.

I heard something about a badge level thingy for writing longer logs... so feel to ignore from this point onwards.
Thanks for going to the effort to prepare, hide and submit this geocache for me to find, another smiley for my geomap.

Great find! Slightly cracked from sun damage. Maybe risk of water damage in the future
Another bit of the OTD series we were too lazy to do, but decided to be not so lazy and chip away at a couple on the weekend. These series are always a nice opportunity to google some other events on the same day. Here are a few facts we found ....
2010 Don't ask don't tell was repealed
President Obama signed the repeal of the don't ask, don't tell policy that governed the recruitment and service of LGBTQ members in the United States military. The policy was put in place by the Clinton Administration in 1994.
1989 Romanian President Nicolae Ceau?escu overthrown
The Communist President was ousted after widespread demonstrations in the country. Ceau?escu and his wife Elena tried to flee the country, but were captured, tried and executed by a firing squad. The Romanian Revolution was the only violent overthrow of a communist government in the 1980s.
1937 Lincoln Tunnel opens
The 1.5-mile-long (2.4 km) long tunnel passes under the Hudson River and connects New Jersey to New York City.
1891 First asteroid discovered through astrophotography
323 Brucia was discovered by Max Wolf and was named after Catherine Wolfe Bruce, an American patron of astronomy.
1882 First Christmas tree to be illuminated by electric lights displayed
Edward H. Johnson, an associate of inventor Thomas Edison and the Vice President of the Edison Electric Light Company, became the first person to decorate a Christmas tree with electric lights at his home in New York City.

Thanks LiB for the cache, geez there are a lot of people use this track on a Sunday ride!!
Took the kids for their first geocache,
One of them checked in the spot where it was right away but didn’t know exactly what they were looking for
Wasn’t until I decided to check that we found it.
Now they know what to expect
Good little find

Noticed someone had logged a find after my dnf so I was keen to take another look. This time I came from the lower bike path which made the find a lot easier. A neat little hiding spot! TFTC LiB
Out for an afternoon caching on the bike today. I DNFed this a few years ago, and thought despite the recent DNFs I would come back to give this a look! I wandered up and down a bit until I widened my search and the cache was eventually found. My gps was 8m out. A sneaky hide and good to finally turning the unhappy face around to a smiley. Tftc!
Getting my car serviced in Mile End, so hopped on a train and caching by public transport.
Was not expecting a T3.5 along the bike path! TFTC and series.

I had a mixed bag this morning. I am a foreigner when it comes to the southern suburbs, and learnt a lot of new roads early this morning. I had tried 6 and missed one before this one. Seeing as it is a 'Lib in the city cache' I thought it might be easier. Strangely GZ had me in the middle of a steep downhill slope among low ground cover. There were people starting to come out of the woodwork and I did look very suspicious here perched on the wrong side of the railing. I thought better of it, and left it for another time. Thanks for the challenge, time was up at that stage for me today, back to the villa to share a wonderful breakfast overlooking the ocean.
In Port Elliott today, great day for caching, back to McLaren Vale today to finish off the December run before the heat hits later this week. TFTC
Put the sweat wheels on the car today and headed south, with primary aim being a couple of trads left in the O'Halloran Hill Recreation Park which is in my 42K circle from home. After that I headed further south to the December OTD series where the bike would also be useful. Ended up finding all 25 left in the series.
Got close to GZ and went down to where I thought GZ was, looked around but came up empty. Read some logs and made the find a little further away. Did something I very very rarely do and replaced cache where I had GZ but not where found. Hope this is ok, I think it will make things easier for future searchers.
Thanks LíB for the cache and the series.

Initially i was thrown by the co-ords of this one but after a failed attempt and already on my way to Big-W at Seaford, i had a peek into the past logs. There was one log that had me turning tail and having another crack at this one before the huge rain shower was to hit [:o]
I looked again at the spot i had already searched [why do we do that? ]
I decided it may be on the 'other side' and came up trumps [^]
SL under the shelter of the road bridge awaiting potential armageddon from the leaky sky, but thankfully it didn't leak at all... it missed this spot, phew

All is good and dry within the cache [^]

Found! Coords seemedoff so just went over to the dark side and the force was with me
These coordinates seem to be way off. Looked through the notes for a clue and still we were walking away and then I saw something and after a little scramble found it. Glad I didn't give up. TFTC
Out on the Shonky bicycle for a ride along the Seaford line with Uni and Medusa. The idea being to catch the train to Seaford and ride back and cache asking the way. Found this one after a short search.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found while out and about in the Moana area for the day. Thanks for the cache LiB!
Once I figured the coordinates were a bit off, read some previous logs and scouted the vicinity the cache was mine! TFTC.
Hurray came with long john 25 who is much lighter of foot ,and thanks to the hint we had success tftc
Out for a days caching with Trail06 but the weather put and end to our planned list of walking caches.
Instead it was drive bys that only needed a short walk in the drizzle.
Trail06 went up the slope. Glad to get a previous dnf off the list.

Cache still in place, see brick at wall and you will find a cache. Terrain is steeper now
Why did i go for just one more was on 6 for 6 until i tried this one ,didnt think i should climb the newly landscaped slope and suspect this has gone
On a day of scattered showers, gridge98 and I decided to grab our bikes and do some of the December OTD series from Noarlunga.
Interesting OTD fact, and who to know that the 12 days of Christmas wasn’t a countdown to that wondrous day when Santa visited. We eyed this hide upon approach as one of us took the upper path, and the other the lower path. I made the climb and retrieved, and thankfully the surface was quite grippy, thanks 3LG.

Last night after the vent Davidwazza and I decided that we would come and tackle this OTD December today. Majority were fairly easy finds others took a few minutes and a bit of searching. Only one DNF along the way.
A very enjoyable ride and some nice views of the vineyards makes it that little bit special.

After a nasty fall earlier this week decided to skip this one can’t handle any more pain this week TFTH
- looks like some recent council work in this area may have upset the cache and hide...
Headed out for a walk along the rail trail to continue this series in reverse. Not many muggles around today and was much easier on foot than on bike. Started at 26 December and continued back to 12 December. Will be back to complete the series another day.
I wasn't looking forward to this one but actually enjoyed it and a quick find in the second place i looked meant no muggles saw me. Narrowly missed smashing my head in my hurry to get back up. Lucky!

It may be a year and 5 days later, but I'm finally back! And this time got a set of wheels to hopefully speed the process.
Had to psych myself up to grab this hide. Got it in the end.
Thanks 3LG

Apparently taking a day off is not something you should do when you work for a calendar company.

I joined fellow members of the Puzzled Puzzlers Group (S.A. Sewer Rats, doctor owl and blackadders) for a day with a mission.[8)] - Get S.A. Sewer rats to a find total of 4999 so that she could go and find SFE - 5000 finds for her magical 5000 th find. . Should be a piece of cake. But finding a group of caches that we all hadn't already had at least one find on was near impossible. [xx(] So we ventured down south and when I joined the others we still needed almost 30 finds.
With the tally at 2 finds and 2 DNFs it was time to hit a power trail and get some caches. Not having bikes we decided some walking was in order. [:o)] So we parked a car at Dec 31 and drove here to start our walk back.
We picked a great one to start at! The snake and I approached from the top whilst the ladies walked to a spot down below. Needless to say we had it in hand before they arrived! Secretly I hoped for more challenging hides.
Thanks 3LG for this cache.

Owl joined Blackadders and Brisal5 in a quest to find SA Sewer Rats her 5000th cache. They headed south in search of power trails and easy finds to make up the numbers and largely failed in their quest, though the magical 5000 was finally made. The Starfish geotool was deployed with a Snake to make this find, while the other two were taking a much more sedate approach.
It was organised by the wise Owl Starfish and Snake to help Mrs Rat get to 5000 finds.
So the Snake picked Mrs Rat up and we met up with Dr Owl.
We then met up with the starfish at another cache.
We had a mammoth task to find 30 caches, before a dash to this cache.
We deployed the Geotool and slithering Snake, to take the shorter route, while Mrs rat and Dr Owl took a more sedate route. Tftc

Generic Log :
At an recent event there was a whisper that a particular Rat was nearing her 5000th find and that she only needed 30 to reach the goal. Mr. Blackadder, hearing this thought Hmm what an opportunity to get out on such a wonderful day with a small but fun group of fellow cachers and to witness the big 5000 finds he would invite himself along. Picking up Mrs SA Sewer Rat, meeting an Owl and then meeting up with a Starfish would make for a good day out. With a few minor disagreements on the navigation aspect we finally made a number of finds including of course this one. Many were easy and a few were not so obvious however smileys were eventually gained. TFTC and the series, some of which will need to be completed at a later date.

Out on the geo-bikes to finish the series we started quite a few months ago! Thanks for the head wack warning, kept my helmet on TFTC
Beautiful day to be out cycling and geocaching with most of December found and 3 of the October series. Thanks 3LG
Thoroughly enjoyed this section of OTD series on a beaut warm winter afternoon on the bikes with Shetland. 14 finds and 1 DNF. Looked further afield and disturbed the cockroaches. Thanks for providing this series for our enjoyment.
Continuing to do the OTD series in date order (well, as much as possible) and finally we've made it to December . Out on the bikes on a cool, clear morning was invigorating , but at least it wasn't raining .
This didn't look good when we arrived (the obvious spot had nothing) [xx(], but then we checked the terrain rating and looked a little further afield - success . TNLNSL.
Thanks again 3LG.

Jumped on the mountain bikes with the geowife and grabbed the caches along the Coast to Vines rail trail. Well hidden & disturbed a few ants. Signed log
Looked high looked low looked half way up. No luck. No find in a while. People need to log their dnfs. Can the cache owner check on this one.
Out on a Meetup walk along the Coast to Vines Rail Trail.
Quick look for one that seemed gone last time.
Found a brand new log in the obvious hide. Hopefully it was put out by CO.
Onwards south to find plenty more.

I could see this one a couple of months ago, but it's not there now. Suspect it's missing. Owner might like to check.
Accurate coordinates and a familiar type of hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks 3LG for the cache and the series.
Myself, clare007 and hevwalker tackled this series today! Perfect weather for a wander although this weather meant that the track was like Rundle Street ….. with what seemed like every bike in South Australia wizzing by us!!! We found every cache!! All were in good condition and a number of them living up to their higher terrain ratings!! …………………………….. this was particularly true of #22 and #29 ……. On which hevwalker scored her 2000th. Find. Thanks 3LG for a very enjoyable series!!!
Looking over the edge trying to decide which angle to approach this hide...shimmied down on the seat of my pants hoping not to put a hole in them...saw the container in plain view out in the open but just out of my reach, so shimmied sideways...these pebbles & the dirt is very slippery...hate to attempt this if it has been raining...managed to grab it, sign it & hide it away again...placing a rock along side it so it doesn't escape again.
Out for the day with CPwanderer & clare007 tackling the December OTD series...it was a lovely day for a walk along the rail trail...& ride apparently as there were a lot more cyclists than walkers...we managed to find each & everyone which was an achievement in itself considering some of the terrain ratings...TFTC & the series 3LG

Out with CPWanderer & hevwalker caching the OTD series in the busy McLaren Vale.
Having looked in all the obvious places there was nothing for it but to go down.
hevwalker decided to scout out the area which was quite slippery even with the vegetation.
Luckily she did as it was not where it should of been, placed back in a less obvious place.
Thanks for the interesting location & the cache 3LG

Out with geodad in the southern area ticking off some more of the OTD December series. Was pleased to quickly find the familiar cache container, although it was in full view when we found it. Geodad placed it back so it was better hidden. TFTC 3LG.
A nice walk along the walking/cycling track looking for caches with Shigiggles. Thanks 3LG.
Kkaylalee wasn't keen on taking me to the hospital but I made the slide down the hill all the same. No hospital trip needed and got the cache.
After completing October I continued onto December and I was happy to find all 62. It was a great day of bike riding and geocaching! 46km later I'm a bit tired!!
Thanks for the caches 3LG
