Found today up on a weekend visit from Wellington, and the first cache for me in this area. Overshot GZ at first then saw it clearly from above. Walked up to the peak from here. Discovered the TB but wasn't brave enough to take it. Thanks.

Had to take a little detou after doing the redwoods loop, to find this cutely themed cache. Thanks!

We can not miss it. a favorite point is delivered.-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --French version below-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Short late log but more complete now that we are back home. Our vacation will take us to the other side of the world to the land of the Maoris. After many, many hours of flying, a passage through China on the way there and through the United States of America on the way back, we will finally arrive in Christchurch which will be the starting point of our journey. We will enjoy the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and we will go back towards the North Island via State Highway 1. To combine business with pleasure, we will take regular breaks and small detours according to the caches that seem the most accessible to us.With a little more than 3500 km in 20 days, we will have discovered many facets of this island which is soothing. We will have to come back because there are so many places that we have not done . In broad strokes, the path will go from Christchurch to the Kaikoura Peninsula then towards Picton for the crossing to Wellington.New island, new road, and by State Highway 2 we go towards Hastings and Napier. We will leave the seaside for several days to go to Tongariro and Taupo. We will continue north towards Rotorua and Hamilton (without forgetting a detour via Hobbiton ) A detour to the Coromandel Peninsula and finally the almost north of the island with Whangarei and Waitangi to learn the history of this country. There will only be a few days left to spend towards Auckland and its suburbs before taking the plane back to the grayness of our European autumn. The majority of the boxes will be found, we have abandoned those where our English was lacking and where we could not understand the clue. Thanks to all the owners who brightened up our path, who took us to incredible places (that's also geocaching)In short, we had a great vacation, saw beautiful places that simply ask us to come back. We learned a lot about the history of this country and its traditions, it's a great motivation for our destinations.-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Petit log en retard mais un peu plus complet maintenant que nous sommes rentrs la maison. The cache title says it all. A cache you can't miss literally, and the track walk is painless.

An exercise in container opening, too funny! Tftc

We hadnt survived driving up the mountain without finding a few more caches on the way down. Sure, we were tourists, but at least we were tourists that knew the road rules. Some of the crazies were up here driving for sheep stations. We walked up from the car park and when my wife saw the last bit of scramble she decided to head back to the seat. Naturally I went up further than I needed to only to see the cache back down a bit.I was describing the unwrapping process through the trees making sure I could put everything back in the right order. It got me to thinking why dont Russian Dolls ever have twins? tftc

Having followed the purple path to the redwoods it was just a short hop to this one. Mr disregarded the container as is was so obvious he thought it was an animal trap (off which we have seen many). Mrs checked it out. Brilliant. Have an FP

09-Jan-22
We hadn't been up here in a long time so decided this morning was a good day. Drove up though, thought it was too hot even though others were running in the heat! After a stop at the peak we came down and wandered along to this. Fabulous cache and the placement meant we could sit quietly as people passed and they didn't even know we were there! Enjoyed the flag additions, and appreciated the answers provided too. A clever and well put together cache, a FP from us. Tftc

06-Jan-22
After visiting the peak, I stopped at the lower carpark to grab the caches here. This one was easier to find than to open - hahaha. Took some effort and only had difficulty at one point, though I had a good system in place to putting the log back in was much easier. Well done on the effort for this one. Luckily no one walked past when I was opening/closing the cache. Thanks! Favourite point from me.

20-Dec-21
After a hot day resting in Napier, we decided to go up to Te Mata to enjoy the sunset views. On the way we stopped for this cache. One of us injuried her ankle the day before (looking for a cache), so 136m walk sounded good to test the ability to tramp. At GZ little cacher went and said he couldn't find anything, he just mentioned a big piece of rubbish. We both soon joined and told him that was not rubbish, we had fun opening and guessing the countries, we are not really good. Suddenly we heard voices and all ducked and stayed quiet. The people looked at us, but then focused on bikes coming up. Once we reached the log, which is of course in perfect condition, as the containers, we realised we forgot our pen, so I took a picture of the log, as a proof we were there. Great idea, a fav from us. Lot of work went into this.

Awesome cache. Our kids love this!

10-Jul-21
After being up here last night I checked my phone when we got back to the accommodation and spotted this popular and Large sized cache. Came up after our trip to town earlier and the late afternoon walk was cooling so no hanging around! All good and replaced as found (obviously!!) Another FP from me for this cache.

The weekend is here and for a change I've got a four-dayer planned with a trip across from Taupo to Napier to have a couple of nights in Havelock North and local area, followed by a trip back across the Napier-Taihape Road to stay at our daughters for a day before watching the football on Monday and then Coming Home, he's coming home, capperz is coming home (football didn't as it turned out! Well done to Italy.
A few nice caches found, not huge numbers so quality rather than quantity. A few more of the PWGT caches as well as some others here and there, thanks to all COs.

10-May-21
In HB for a long weekend, got left to my own devices today while my mate was at work, so went for a walk up Te Mata to grab some caches. Fun hide here on the way down! Tftc

09-May-21
Cleverly done
Glad I decided to run up the track to do this after a long walk today. Tftc

21-Mar-21
Fairly easy to spot. We were greeted by a nest of approximately 30-40 live fully grown cockroaches in the first 2 layers. There was also a nasty smell and a lot of eggs. We did our best to bang the eggs out and seal up the container properly. Unfortunately due to the cockroaches it kind of took away the enjoyment for us for this cache. Thanks never the less we can see a lot of effort has gone into this one. The cache contents was still sealed in not infested.

20-Jan-21
One of seven caches located today (not including the five credited for an Adventure Lab before breakfast) on day 6 of our motorhome summer holiday to Hawkes Bay. This was the last of four on our visit to Te Mata Peak today. My coords initially had me quite a few metres away from where the cache was. Fortunately, because of its size, I managed to spot it “away over there”! Thanks for all the effort that has gone into this one. The logsheet was quite wet! Actually just kidding about that – because of the number of containers involved, it would surely be impossible for any moisture to ever get into this one! #3676. TFTC.

28-Dec-20
Found it while doing a walk up the peak.
Thank you for the nice cache!

Went seriously astray on this one for a while... that’ll teach me to pay attention to my gps! Fantastic cache, so much work in it. Gets a favourite!

09-Feb-20
What better way to spend a day in the sunny HB than wandering to the Peak and finding a few caches along the way. Thks

02-Feb-20
A very clever cache. It’s always nice to come across something a bit different.
Fortunately there weren’t many muggles on the track and those that were didn't notice what was going on in the the bushes.
A lot of work has gone into this one, thanks Jodiporsch. A favourite point for sure.
Took the trackable to continue its journey. TFTC.

#11,528. A good hike in Havelock North. Came across a number of other walkers on the tracks, but fortunately GZ itself was all quiet at the time of the visit. Quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside (as you would expect). Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …
