I had an event nearby this morning and so decided to pop by and try find this cache. Last time I was here, the RFS, was doing some training and it seemed that despite all my patience, I didn't have time to wait them out. Today however, I had the place to myself and was able to search undisturbed. I wandered around, knowing my gps wouldn't be the best under the trees, and tried my best to avoid trampling plants and walking into spider webs eventually, I turned around and spotted it not too far from the car, it wasn't as far in as I was expecting it! Thanks for the cache!

Attempted this one from the south but with a 500-1000m walk I aborted the attempt. Really pleased I then chose from the north and drove up to GZ! After a short search CIH. TFTC!

Expected to find a locked gate at the start of Dry Lakes Rd but was pleasantly surprised to find that I could drive to the cache.
Took longer to find than it should have.
Disturbed a little gecko as I retrieved the cache.

Running some cache recon on behalf of another person, made a day out of the travel with a detour into the Wollondilly shire. This was the first of 15 smileys covering over 11km on foot however here, it was just a few metres from the car… and, after reading through some previous logs, about 8-10 metres further from the posted co-ords. Luckily, I picked the right direction widening the search radius to make a quick grab.

TFTC Thank you for going to the effort of hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity.

20-Oct-18
Our initial access to this one was blocked by a gate, so drove around to the alternate / main access.

So, the wife brings the container back to the car. The whole container was taped up with paper tape, it did not make sense....

It eventually did when I got past the tape and got to the logbook.

A muggle had found the cache, went to the trouble of writing a note in the logbook, taped it right up and put it back. But it was what they did after that, that we did not know until reading the logbook. It seems they pissed all over it.

It was dry when we found it, and thankfully we have hand sanitizer in the car....

After walking for a while through another part of the national park, it was a nice change to be able to drive almost straight to this one. Took a while to locate GZ due to tree cover but cache was easy to find once in the right place.

#4989 (1 of 5 today)

Catching up on over a week's finds! And that means I've made my 5000th find without knowing which cache it was. Ooh, suspense! Which will be the winner?

Most days I cached to meet my goal of 10 finds per calendar day by the end of 2019 (and my aspiration of 7 by the end of 2018). So far so good, but travel soon could derail me - for 2018 at least.

Headed down Tahmoor way looking for 5 or more for the day. Bad start with two DNFs after over two hours. So then went for a Park & Grab, and then four others on a fire trail.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
So after two very long and hot DNFs decided on a Park & Grab to get things moving again. Picked this one.
In the end it took about 5 minutes for me to get to the right spot. Then it was obvious...

Signed and replaced.
Now for the fire trail...

fitzy_1965 and I headed out for a caching weekend with the aim of camping at Wingello so we could attend the 'Let's Wing It, Again' event Sunday morning. We decided to pick up some out of the way caches between Moss Vale and Nowra on Saturday and then up around Picton on Sunday.

Glad to pick this one....was originally going to leave it as it was too far out of our way when we were picking up the other two at the lake. Also glad we took the long way around as the gate was shut! Co-ords where about 8m out.

15,334. Found during a caching meander this weekend with minniek.

After attending the Lets Wing It Again Camping Event we headed out to grab some more caches before heading home tonight. This was the next find of the day. Parked nearby and walked up for a quick find. Signed the log, replaced the cache, and headed off to the next one.

Thanks trickygav !!

GPS was a bit all over the place for this one. Phone seemed to give us a better lock and cache was discovered soon after. Lovely area. If I didn't have the young geo- nieces with me I would have continued down the track. TFTC and for showing us a new area.

It was starting to rain as we left the last cache, and the windscreen wipers for going fairly strong. So when bikerbuddy asked if I wanted a 2km walk, I wasn’t that keen. But by the time we got to the locked gate, the rain had stopped. So we decided to go for it.

Walked out along the easy trail, got to the gate at the other end and realised we could have driven right up to this one. Oh well, it was a nice walk.

Thanks Smile

We'd come down to do the cache series by trickygav along the railway line today. After that we did some caches around the lake, although I had already found them. This was my next find. We parked the car at the gate, a little over a kilometre away from the cache and walked the track to it. At the other end we found another National Parks gate and realised there was a way to drive all the way to the cache. Admittedly, we hadn't bothered to look. It was another pleasant walk, anyway. After a minute looking about, we managed to locate the cache about 8 metres from where our GPS wanted us. Then another walk back to the car. Our return trip took us 30 minutes. Thanks

With it being school holidays I had a few days off with the kids so we decided to head towards Thirlmere to grab a few caches. This was one of the ones we found today.

Was thinking there may have been a bit walking involved to get to this one but drove almost to GZ.
thanks

Found Smile -- 11:20:34 AM -- SL TFTH. Thanks for bringing us here to this location trickygav. Cache in good condition.
It seems like it’s been ages since we last had really good weather for caching. Having a moment of cravings i've taken advantage of the somewhat good weather to do get out and about with hubz and bubz.

We went via Bond Road as I knew there was a locked gate nearby and we would need to walk beyond that gate to reach the cache, not that that was an issue, but it was nicer coming down through here to this cache, such a beautiful location and worth the extra miles to see that lovely landscape.

Well thats embarrassing. I got close to the cache based on my memory of the map, then discovered that I had no signal to load the listing. A quick trip back down the road and back fixed that, and I had the cache in hand before the phone knew what was going on.

Primary objective for the day-trip to this area was to recover and move a TB left at Castaway.
Tally for the day, 17 finds, 1 revisit, 1 start on a multi and 1 DNF.
- - -
Took the opportunity to find a few caches near the Thirlmere Lake area.
This was the fourth find for the day. Parked on Slades Rd and MTB'ed along the track to GZ. Nearly ran over a 120 cm goanna that stormed across the track in a serious hurry to get up some tree.

In: assorted bits
Out: TB/Danio the Fish

TFTC trickygav!

Find number 3657

A relatively quick find with two horse floats being loaded nearby. Luckily they where just as uninterested in us as we where in them. Made some swaps and returned the cache before heading on our way.

Thanks trickygav for placing this cache.

Diverted from my way home from footy for this one.
Some years ago i did some work in this area and had a bit of an idea which road to take. Traveling down the road at a slow pace there where paddocks full of Wallabies .At least fifty in each paddocks eating grass. So i would suggest the best time to attempt this Cache is about dusk. As for the Cache,an easy find. TFTC

After the awful storms last weekend I ventured out this weekend but I was too late to get a haircut, so...to cheer myself up...I went geocaching with Finalf29 instead...as you do. Great afternoon but cut short due to youngest getting a call into work. Found six (one was 15 years old!)

This is my fifth for the arvo. We had to drive right around to get to this one, as the gates were locked due to the road being flooded...ironic really when thinking of the name of this cache. Got to GZ but had to scramble around a bit to find the container. Thanks

Out and about with Happy Uke again today!

Had a little trouble with this one. The GPS or the cache was out a bit.

Thanks!

Took a short detour off the lake loop track to pick up this cache. With MrSmash and Team MavEtJu we made a quick find and returned back along the road to complete the loop. Thanks trickygav.

Had an enjoyable walk around the lake today. Saw a horse float parked at this entrance, so I finally worked out where all the deposits had come from!

Such a pity that the lakes are now dry, (bloody long wall mining!)

I use to come here with my parents in the 'old' days for a swim.

A quick find, thanks.

Traveled North to pick up some of the newer caches in the 50km - cleared this section of the map again.

I almost considered on searching for this late one night to keep my streak going. Glad I found an easier one instead.
I used to swim in these lakes when I was younger. Fond memories of jumping off the wharf into the deep water. I even attempted to learn how to wind surf on the lake, only to get caught in the reeds along the edges.
The coordinates were a bit off, but the hint pointed the way. I took the tb along with me.
Thanks for the cache.

I thought I nab this on my way home and a possible of a FTF, will it wasn't meant to be. I remember coming this way and swimming in the lakes year ago. It a shame the lakes are gone, guess the mining is blamed for that. Anyway TFTC

FTF - 2nd of 3 FTF's this afternoon. I didn't know this other entrance to the National Park existed, so will come back with my MTB to explore this area further. I quickly located the cache and the blank log, leaving a TB to continue its travels, thanks.
