On a road trip with Net61 exploring Kaikoura and finding as many caches as we can. A nice quick park and grab here. Thanks for the cache and smilie
I am staying at South Bay in the caravan with the doggie for a few days and plans to get out and about each day for a walk and a bike ride. Weather was lovely this morning and sat on the beach watching loads of dolphins should have been biking tho as now the rain has begun. This cache was too wet for me to sign and sorry I didnt have any spare supplies.TFTC
On my way home from Christchurch and couldnt stop yawning, what better way to wake myself up looking for a cache in the cold and dark with a thin tshirt on. The teeth chattering stopped the yawning. I didnt think I had any p & g caches left in Kaikoura and especially a b&w one so I was surprised there are a few. Will leave them for another day though. Thanks b&w

A barking dog rushed out to say hello however it was quickly called back. The cache log is damp but usable; TFTC
Had some fun with this one as the road had been graded, the post now has a foot of shingle and grass. Lucky we carry a spade in suzy when we go off exploring off road. We used this to dig out and found the cache, signed and put back. At least the shingle is loose now to take off the top. Thanks for this cache bumandworker.
A nice simple find here. All logsheets were wet so replaced with rite in rain paper. Replaced as found and headed off to the next one. tftc
In Kaikoura for mountain bike ride. Thanks for the hide. Needs maintenance as log wet. Put in temporary log.
I had just enough caching spares to make this a double container to keep it dry. TFTC
After two weeks in the South Inland we are heading home. Out to find some caches after tea. Thanks bumandworker for the cache.
Found with Kiwimykl while caching in Kaikoura, refer to his log for details.

Found with NZDi. We had a long weekend booked for last weekend, but Mrs Kiwimykl (aka NZDi) didn't feel that flash so we postponed it until this weekend. So Friday morning we packed the caravan (including MTBs) and headed south arriving at the campground about 10.45am. After spending yesterday doing the Kawhai Cycle Trail, a few caches south of town and a few around town, todays effort is to the Mt Fyffe Forest Walk and then drive around the area to see how many roadside park and grabs we can get.
Over the two days caching we manage to find 44 caches with only two DNFs, although we did manage to avenge three DNFs from a previous visit. Of the 44 finds, bumandworker was responsible for hiding 28 of them. Our logs were generally dated and signed with Kiwimykl and NZDi or KM + ND, or variations there of.
We spent most of this morning in town trying to find the images for the Kaikoura Town Walk puzzle cache with a negative result. More about that later. That took a big bite out of our caching day for no result, so we decided to cut our loses and head to the Mt Fyffe Forest Walk. Having finished that we then started to pick off a few park and grabs around the district.
Having got a couple of caches to the north of Kaikoura it was well past lunch time, so we headed back to town for a bite to eat and to regather our thoughts. Our thoughts worked out the Kaikoura Town Walk puzzle and so that was our first target after lunch. After that we decided to head out to this cache then pick up any unfound caches on the way back to town.
Having almost cleared out the area between town and the peninsula, we now headed out to the backroads to the west of Kaikoura. I guess we should have made the effort to go a bit further down the side road when we did the Kowhai Cycle Track yesterday. This was a QEF PnG today. Thanks to SoBad for the temporary log.

We biked past the gates twice, on the way to collect the cache and then on the way back to the trail. It did look fun, but we are happy with the more conventional motel we are in for a couple of nights. The log here could not be written on so we added a piece of paper as a temporary log,
Thanks. A fun spot to highlight.

Family holiday time...a couple nights Kaikoura, a couple Picton & finish off in Nelson.....
Parked up back at the intersection & biking in to the river trail to bike a section of it. Quick find and sign here. Thanks.

Stayed in one of the Whacky accommodations this evening, delighted to find a cache so near by! No pen with me so I took a photo of the log with the geodog in the background. Cheers for the cache!
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on wet or plastic logs)
*We soon had another good cache located, now to the next one!*

Spending time in Kaikoura this long weekend. I drove past here to get to the Kowhai Cycle Trail. Parked across the road and headed for the cache which was found in the first place I checked. TFTC, Biggles.
Stayed the night in the yurt! Quick find with TharntheHalken before heading into town for whale-watching. Tftc!
Cool spot! I looked them up and they are not the cheapest in town! Quick find of the cache. TFTC!!
Day 2 of StreetWalkerNZ and my 3 day weekend in Kaikoura, and the plan today was to find some drive bys en route to the Mt Fyffe bush walk, then find some caches on the Kowhai cycle trail, until the forecasted rain started falling or until we were ready to call it quits, whatever happened first.
After the bush walk, we headed into Kaikoura for lunch. This was a quick find afterwards, as we drove to an access point to the cycle way. I stayed back while SW made the find as there were giant thistles right at GZ . Afterwards, we discovered the reason for the cache name - we both had visions of a different sort of "stay" - we've obviously been caching for too long. TFTC.

#18076. We didn't twig as to the reason for the cache name until we got to GZ and saw the sign. Quick find of a familiar B+W blue container. TFTC.
A quick find and I am now driving around to find caches after two days of lots of walking
This surely does look like a fun place to stay, but the sort of place we are only likely to stay at if we have our grand children with us, as I am sure it would be much more fun hearing and seeing their excitement.
So maybe one day we will have them in Kaikoura and we can do just that.
Thanks for showing us this place and thank you for the smiley
Happy New Year to You, we hope it is a year full of fun and adventure with a few geocaching smilies chucked in there as well

Oh how unique! I was tempted to go in and check it all out. Hmm, maybe next time.
Day 2 of our Easter raid East and were out collecting some points for the Planetary Pursuit.
A very quick find here. The log was a wet ball of paper mache' so we removed it and added a small recycled waterproof log. Lol **Llama trekking** We have zoomed passed Uranus and are now nearly at Neptune so double Thanks for the cache

I remember the animal park here. JDScout and I decided to spend Canterbury Anniversary weekend in Kaikoura. Geocaching was high on my priority list, not quite so high on my hubby's list.
I managed to talk him into biking the Kowhai River trail. I have been eyeing up the Geocaches along this trail for ages.

HEHEHE whacky stays. Liked the nearby establishment. Cheers.
A weekend away in Kaikoura, it's been a while, and it has changed a wee bit since last November.
Thanks to all of the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

Out caching round Kaikoura today. A nice and quick find, slightly damp logbook. Tftc!
Not looking so busy currently, like quite a few features around Kaikoura at this time of year. Cheers
Easy to find. In the ranking "countries, where I found the most caches" NZ gained place 3 out of 22 countries. Thank you and greetings from Germany.
In Kaikoura to ride the Kowhai MTB Trail and give some support to the locals. Stopped by as I
headed towards Kaikoura from the base of Mt Fyffe. Nice quick find. TFTC

This place looks interesting..Had a quick find only to find the Log Book wet..Dried it out on the Dashboard and also gave it a Plastic Bag..TFTH
Log very wet. Thanks to the Wombles for drying it out when they visited. Thanks for a different cache site. TFTC
Its the Seagnoids Birthday this weekend so Zara, the Seagnoid & I are off discovering Kaikoura. Its a cold windy Saturday with rain in the air and snowing in the ranges. We have cached and walked the peninsular which was The Seagnoids main mission for the weekend. Now lets go exploring while there is still time.
Cache position a disapointment but I still enjoyed the fun road art. Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers

Zara, TaybeeDragon and I have just walked around the Kaikoura peninsula (well, not Zara, they would not let her on the track), so now we are just filling in time waiting for nightfall and tomorrow's mission: the cycle trail. Cute animals. easy find.
After an impromptu night stay in Kaikoura, I spent today finding as many caches as I could and doing a bit of exploring, before continuing on to Christchurch. Another quick find. TFTC (3063)
Called here early this afternoon, an instant find in the first place checked. Interesting spot, I'm sure the grandkids would love it. Signed log, TFTC
With a few more days of holidays left we decided to head south again and find some caches we didn't have time to look for last week, plus some more off the beaten track. This was one of 51 found today.
Thank you to all CO's who made this possible.
Thank you to all CO's who made this possible.
Our recent multi day Canterbury cache raid was so successful we decided to have another one before the holidays finished. Again we got stabbed, prodded, pricked and scraped by the variety of hedges the region is so famous for. And of course we can now hold our breath a lot longer. A skill well worth developing to avoid breathing in part of the road surface every time a vehicle passes. Just over 200 finds were logged this time and a great time was had finding the caches with a variety of shapes, sizes and placements. A big thank you to all COs who made this possible.
On tour in NZ! To safe time and space we signed with CG3 ( caching girls 3)!

It's Leap weekend, whatever that is, and a chance for a couple of souvenirs if I manage to achieve certain (easy) caching feats so all is good in the world. A surprise email yesterday from Nelson's K_E asking if I wanted a (mini) road-trip to Kaikoura for a bit of mountain biking and a bit of caching replaced what I had got planned, nothing.
Up and off at 0730 this morning we headed down the road, bikes all aboard for what turned out to be 30 caches each and a thoroughly good days caching, different scenery and a good chat about all sorts of things. Headed steadily towards the Kowhai Cycle/power trail to grab all of those recent placements and enjoy the tracks on the bikes.
Passing here and would be rude not to stop and grab this wacky placement

What was really whacky was seeing KEs signature on the log earlier today. Obviously the first of many I was to follow him to today. I enjoyed the whacky display. TFTC #7821
