On an west to east and back roadtrip... Today in Swan Hill to get a few things done. After following the rising water along the Murray yesterday we headed out to this area this morning to see what was 'up'. My GPSr was pointing me to a spot now in water... Seeing it has survived much larger floodwaters, it seemed more likely that the hide was probably in the larger options now being lapped by the water, I decided not to push on with a hunt here. Thanks anyway Sparra0907

It is a big river and it is flowing rather fast. Must be why it resembles a chocolate milk shake. There are a lot of birds here, very peaceful. Thanks for the cache.

The geocaching holiday continues with OzHockeyChick, Papi4506 & GeoTurtle37. We finally made it to Swan Hill after an epic drive (100kms in 6hrs). Today is the first day exploring the hill.
The river looks to have some speed to it today although maintains its murky colour. A quick find on the trail today

Thanks Sparra0907 for placing the hide!

In contrast to yesterday, which was quite warm, today we battled a cold wind and some heavy rain squalls as we cached our way around the area north west of S.H. in the very good company of Suscoe. A variety of caches such as this, taught us more about this part of Victoria.

Thanks 'Sparra0907' for adding this cache to the game board.

Suscoe and Phetlern were continuing their Swan Hill adventure this morning.
The weather took a change overnight and we woke to cooler temperatures and a cloudy sky.
Rain was also on the horizon and so a quick start was had to see how far we would get on the list for today.

Thanks to Sparra0907 for this hide, glad to see a reasonable amount of water travelling downstream to the Coorong.

Swan Hill Day 2 staying on the riverside.
It was after lunch when we decide to cross the border into NSW & out to Murray downs where we had visited last night. It looked a lot different in the day light. It was then back to VIC & a drive along the edge of the Murray, such a good way to visit the area.
The cache locations were varied & a variety of containers found.
Thanks for placing this cache Sparra0907

OK !!
Let's get facts straight Razz
The 'Big River' only spans *TWO STATES*,
NSW and SA Smile

Right !!
Now I've got that off me chest,
and left you wondering why I would say that ...
... (just do some online research if you don't believe me) ...
... I enjoyed the detour along River Road to find some caches along the Big River banks in Victoria Big Grin

And found this cache tucked away Smile

TFTC [^]

OH !! Hang on ... "a virtual water highway ??" [:o]
Please Google the definition of virtual !! Wink
The water highway was very real,
and used by real paddle steamers !!
This ain't The Matrix !! Razz

*Disclaimer:
Of course I'm ignoring any changes in the Murray's course that have occurred since the NSW - Vic boundary was declared Razz
So while the main channel of the river may have moved,
the intent of the state boundary has not Wink

Pulled up only to find a couple fishing nearby. Had a discussion about how much higher the river is than normal, and received a warning about nearby bees. Wandered off to check out the water while my wife took some photos, and I was able to surreptitiously retrieve the cache and sign. TFTC

Having been out camping for a few days and upon our return noticed a couple of new caches in the area had been published.
So we headed on out to this one earlier this morning to beat the heat of the day
A quick find for us and a FTF to boot Big Grin
With the cache being close to town and not being around when when it was published, a FTF was a pleasant surprise Surprised
TNLN. Thanks for the cache Sparra0907. [^]
