We stopped off to find this one as we headed to the summit.
The area was very busy this morning as there was some sort of orienteering event taking place so people holding maps kept appearing out of nowhere and diving back into the bushes. It was amusing to watch and looked like some sort of extreme form of geocaching.
Once at GZ this was a nice quick find and was only re-hidden just in time before one of the orienteers came speeding out of the bushes and up the bank onto the road.

On oir way back from Te Mata Peak I came saw and made the grab pretty quickly

#11,529. A good hike along Te Mata Peak Road in Havelock North. Came across a number of other walkers on the tracks, but fortunately GZ itself was all quiet at the time of the visit. Quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside.

Took ages for our gps to settle so we went round in circles fpr a bit. We widened search area and it was quickly found.

We stopped on the way back down and wandered in for a quick find. Pleasantly still here after the blustering, icy winds above. Thanks ABCW2.

Staying in Napier for a few days. Last time I was here was for a course which ran 7am-7pm meaning that when I eventually made it to Te Mata the sun had already set and I was unable to see anything. Decided that as we were in the area we would try again as I had heard the views were amazing. Unfortunately for us it was an incredibly foggy day and once again there was no view! We found this one on the way down, a pleasant walk off the beaten track.

Find 6 of 10 in and around Hawke's Bay.

Continuing my mystery walk down the hill, going where the path took me, hoping to pop out near the cafe but eventually hit the road well down and had to work back up to my GZ. Quick find with the hint. Loving the varied terrain and wishing I had my MTB with me.

I found this cache together with my partner Pityulino during our holiday in New Zealand. On this day we hiked on the red track of the Ta Mata Peak and were also searching for geocaches on our way. We found a total of 5 caches during the day. This one was the last of them, which we found in good condition on our way down from the peak. TFTC!

In Wellington off cruise ship Ovation of the Seas. About our 4th visit. On a day tour and, after checking out the views from the restaurant we made a dash for this one as it was only 50m from our bus. Quickly found the cache but, oh no, left the pen on the bus. No time to go back for it I made a mark in the log with a little bit og mud on the end of a stick. Don't ask how I made the mud because the ground around was dry. Thanks ABCW2

I found this cache along with a small group of secondary school students (SJCgeocamp) who were finding Geocaches as part of their camp week. They visited Huka falls, Taupo, Napier, Hastings and Te Mata Peak over four days. We went swimming hiking, and biking and found a wide range of geocaches ranging from traditionals, puzzles, Earthcaches, gadget caches, and the boys favorites-night caches. My hope is that because of their experience they decide to continue Geocaching as a hobby in the future. Thank you to all the CO’s who placed and maintained all the geocaches we found and for bringing us to so many interesting spots.

We liked the hint, as it took us straight to the spot.

We definitely too the hard way to the cache (typical geocachers!) and then travelled the easier route down. Made a nice quick find here.

A trip up Te Mata Peak was planned so when we finally found the right road to head up we finally got there.

As this was on the way we parked up and walked back to GZ where the cache was soon spotted - TNLNSL.

Thanks for the placement of this cache - also noted there appears to be a bait station further up the tree which would take a bit of getting at but thought it worth a mention.

Day 6 of my NZ trip. Today was a full day in Napier and what a beautiful day it was. It was not an early start due to other activities, so I first headed down to Te Mata peak as I had been advised at the geo-event yesterday. What a majestic place ! but it was quite muggle heavy being a fine Saturday. I grabbed a few of the "easiest" to access caches, that is, those that did not require a day of slogging up and down hills, but even so, some where quite difficult. Then I slowly headed back to Napier and walked along the waterfront, stealthfully grabbing caches as I went. A pretty full day all up.

Probably the easiest of the finds up here today.

we had this weekend booked in and so glad of the lucky weather, after dropping the boys off at the top I started to make my way down and finding caches that could find while they made the way to the bottom caching on the tracks (turns out I had much more luck than they did.
I took what seemed a longer way in but with this lovely weather it was great. thanks for the placement cache is all in good order

We found this cache while out burning off some school holiday energy up Te Mata Peak today!
The team went separate ways to attempt to locate the cache - Dad came up with the find quickly, and 5YO was really pleased to see a lot of treasure for her to dig through.

After a very hot day, what better way to end the day by walking some of the busy trails on the Peak and finding some cache's. Had to get my timing right to go off the road as there were lots of muggles about, but once at GZ log was signed in no time. Cheers.

Today was another nice day for our holiday trip in new zealand were we of course also found some caches along the way.

Today we took a trip from wellington to napier.

This is one of them. thank you for maintaining this cache.

we also did a lot of cache of 52 on 52. lot of these caches needed maintenance (most of them very wet)

Today was the day for some of the Te Mata Peak caches to be signed off. And so working our way down from the top we managed to get this one signed without being interrupted by the lots of muggles.

Quick and easytftc

Easy find after scrambling down from the road edge. TFTC

We were surprised to find such a clean, dry container, but then read that it has been replaced recently. We swagged it up as it was empty, then made our way back to the car after a long, rewarding afternoon in the park.

Have replaced cache again today. Hopefully this one might stay around a little longer

Checked on this tonight. Found cache on ground quite away from where it should be looking a bit worst for wear. Luckily log was still inside. Have replaced with a smaller container for now until I find another one

Quickly found while we were heading up to do some maintance. Thank you for being organised enough to include a pencil. As us inexperienced cachers tend to forget writing impliments. Tftc

It was decided a PNG was not in order today, so to make this more of a challenging adventure Angel and geo-dog were unloaded at the main gate carpark and chose to reach this cache via the Rongokako (blue) track. Cache was easily located and we keep on slogging our way up the track to the summit. Lots of buses full of tourists up at the summit this cool Sunday. TFTC
