Found 22 Jun 2024 at 11:54:05AMA last minute decision saw me heading out bright and early for Creswick parkrun followed by a couple of nearby events, a few caches in the area followed by another cito in Miners Rest. A fun day out.Spent some time after with the LeeLee half of Crack'n'LeeLee finding some caches that needed smilies on them. Many thanks to Saint.Anthony for placing North Creswick Station (Closed) for us all to find. Following a few events in the area, LeeLee and ahomburg set off to pick up a few caches. A bit of wandering around here, then we found the structure we were after. I'm sure we already tried but needed some extra force. Thanks Saint.Anthony for creating for us all to enjoy. This cache proved to be an issue. We spent some time looking yesterday without luck and decided to move on. Today we head off for Maldon but we thought we would give it another go. We rechecked a number of spots then after checked some logs I found a tool that might help. Surprisingly the first time using this brought success. Thanks to Saint.Anthony for a well hidden cache.
Didn't find it 8/4/24.Not having much luck in Creswick this evening. Showing that it should be right here, see pic. Took top off and nothing. Read Logs, others also couldn't find, some mentioned hints/clues that didn't help with location.
Intending to do a little loop from Clunes via Cresswick, and maybe on to Talbot via Smeaton. Got this one on the way back out of town. Suspicious signs gave this one away. TFTC again.
Avenged the DNF from a few days ago. Went away and had a bit more of a think about it and lined it up with something I noticed the other day with a few activity logs. By chance we were driving past, found something nearby to help open it and then we found it.
Took us awhile but as there were limited opportunities to hide a cache, we used our caching brains and soon had the cache in hand. Tftc
Found It!There weren't too many places to look here so after a short search I spotted the out-of-place item and found the cache!TFTC
With the rain falling down we have changed our plans and are now collecting caches that do not have us moving to far from the car in case the heavens opened up again. SL TFTC
Back in Creswick for a couple more caches and this was next. Took a punt where the cache might be, but still a minute to get the cache in hand. Log was signed, cache replaced and I was off for a multi. Thanks again St.A...cache all good.
Out for a quiet cache, and stumbled along this one, had us scratching our heads, till we stood back and looked. Thank you for your efforts.
I thought I would escape the city and spend a few days in the Creswick region, obviously finding the local caches.
Staying at the RACV resort so time to explore the local area.
It was a little wet today but still managed to get out and about, found 15 adventure labs and 9 other caches including a letterbox..
I had a great adventure finding these caches.
Sop many places to check, but spider senses went off and it was in the obvious place...
Thanks for the cache and the hide

Out for a local weekend drive with Mrs JTreeTrack2. Heading out to the Creswick Newlyn region. So we jumped into the Geocamry and headed out to look at some of the old railway station sites and some other bits on the way. Glad for the log of others as this was a well hidden cache, thank goodness for natures tools, readily on hand. Once found, signed and returned.

OMG TFTC, so smart and sneaky! I was about to give up but we saw that it looked a bit off so we pulled it out and we found the geocache!
Thanks so much again, this is out last cache in Ballarat and probably the best one so far.

Found on the trip home after another awesome, annual QOGM event. On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird (aka Mrs Geo, Salty Chook, the Old Boiler, Old Chook, Dirty Bird, Angry Bird & occasionally even Love Bird). It’s a great day for caching.

With two Events in Avoca, I decided a three day trip would be great, That would give Me time to explore the area and do a handful of the many caches on offer in this region. The weather was fantastic with nice sunny days but the nights sure were chilly with ice on the windscreen each morning. I saw many places and learnt a lot of history on the trip. The Main towns I visited were Avoca, Maryborough, Talbot, Clunes and Creswick.
Today I headed to Creswick where i visited several old mining sites, so much history in this area to learn.
This was one of the caches I found in My travels.

Cache was inaccessible when we first got there, so we had to work on it. All a bit confusing but got there in the end. Thanks for the hide.
Whilst I went to my GZ, my partner in crime went to her GZ. By the time she got to the right place, beside me, I had found the cache, logged it and was returning it to it's hide. You just can't get good help anymore. Thanks for the cache.
Enjoyed this cache. It was not a plastic container at the base of a tree. I loved driving around Creswick today and seeing lots of things I have never seen before, as I have passed through here quickly. There is a town resident building a very narrow gauge rail track around his house to run the train engine he has built!

This had us tricked for a little while. Once we realised the location then the difficulty came in accessing it. TFTC
I immediately knew what was required at GZ so I did the necessary and discovered the cache just waiting for me.
Wow... 2 December! When did that happen? After finishing off the Christmas caches it was back to complete the rail trail which was partly completed last visit and a few other caches before heading home.
Should have trusted my geosenses. Tried this spot two times during my searches. Then checked previous logs and gave it a little nudge. Log signed.

Tftc saint.anthony. my geocaching eyes spotted where it could be long before my niece but I decided to let her walk around and around in the heat looking where it could be. With a little rock to help us get it. A fav from me.
After caching in Ballarat I headed north to Creswick to do some caching around the back roads.

Rode through here on the train from Maryborough earlier today and saw the woollen mill and drove back from Ballarat to check it out.
Never trust your phone it had me 18m away. The Garmin was more accurate and I had the cache in a jiffy.
It would be great if there was a rail trail all the way to Dalysford. Even better if there were still a train..

Out on a sunny day getting caches and this was one of them. This was a clever hide betrayed only by telltale signs.
This was my last cache of the day, and I must thank Saint.Anthony for the vast majority of them. Such an effort in putting them out and maintaning them must be applauded!

So nice to turn our frown into a smiley on this one. Don’t know why we hadn’t tried that place before, but today we did! SL at 5.17pm #6421 TFTC Saint.Anthony - now to go get Morningtown Ride!
Nice quick find while out on a drive today. Broke a nail on this one!!! Thanks for placing Tony.

Interesting history. I didn’t know about this rail line. So much activity in a previous era. TFTC
Took awhile to find. I was looking at the hiding spot the whole time, but couldn't initially get to it without force. Finally got it.
This one took a lot longer than required and not shy to admit we have been here on more than one occasion, but we got there in the end! This time a teeny tiny telltale sign caught our attention and drew us in, shortly had cache in hand after that and added our name to the log. TFTC, TNLNSL, CIGC
Finally a spare day on the calendar so the geodaughter and myself headed out for the day. ( Mrs Perpetuallylost was pretty happy for us to be out of the house too!)
Redeemed myself today after a previous DNF here. I also discovered a cryptic clue found within past logs and when I read it I knew exactly where to look, as I had glanced at that spot just seconds before. Lucky for me I had just the right TOTT with me and the logsheet was soon signed. That's one more nemesis cache ticked off the list. Thx St. Anthony

Second time for us and thankfully came up trumps this time. Did need a little "help" TFTC
Had absolutely no clues with this one. Had a look in a few spots but as I was in the middle of an ocular migraine decided to call it quits and head back to our B&B for a rest. TFTH might have another look tomorrow
I had to have another crack at finding this cache,
after a secret DNF last week
Today the cache turned up in the first place I looked

First find on a geocaching day with our awesome geocaching friends, 2 adults and 9 children, with our family on a quest to reach 200. We got started early in the hope that we could beat the intense heat, but there wasn't much chance of that. Great conceal on this one, there were a few goes at it before Dive Wombat found success. Thanks for the cache.
Found this one this morning on the start of our caching day.
I enjoyed this one looking everywhere checked this spot twice and only on the third time figured it out.

Firstly, apologies for the lateness in logging.
Despite my tardiness, you can be assured I enjoyed each and every cache found and not found.
Apologies if this is a generic log, my memory is good, but not that good.
On this day I was out with Sorceysal and Tessie the geodog
Thanks St.A , was very tricky after the walk from the car

Having a caching afternoon with Benjay21 in the countryside just north of Ballarat. Took us a while before we finally discovered where the cache was hiding. Great hide and a FP given.

We wandered over after a visit to the Woolen Mill. After eliminating the obvious we cast around for alternatives. With a cache in mind from the previous day a likely location was soon identified. TFTC.
I tried many places as the finding device was jumping all over the place before settling on an area more likely to hide a cache. Even then it took some searching before something that seemed a little battered compared with the nearby pieces of ‘furniture ‘ . For once we couldn’t access the usual tool we use to access this type of cache. We found something handy and had the cache in our hand quickly. I collected the clue for the bonus cache while I was there.
Get out of jail card is in play, we have taken two weeks off from the farm. Mini tour from Porepunkah to where-ever and back catching some caches on the way
Day 11 - Beaufort to Creswick
Railway Stations - one of our favourite, but sadly, a DNF. After DNFing, we went over the road, patted the lambs, fed the goats and alpacas and went into the shop, where a magpie had flown it and could not get out. Wonder if they managed to free it. Thanks Saint.Antony

A day spent zig zagging the back roads north of Ballarat hunting down caches near mines and old railway stations, before ending up at a birthday event.
With a good number of finds made, on the sometimes slick tracks due to the lovely weather the night before, I ended up turning a couple of DNFs into a smiley yet I accumulated 3 more DNFs on the day, but still had a lot of fun and enjoyed the interesting views and history of the countryside.
After getting some lunch at the closest milk bar, I parked up here n had my chicken roll n got the required info for the bonus cache, before getting out n making the find on this one.

Found by Mary & David at 1414. A blink of sunshine and a patch of blue sky. Mary has enjoyed quite a few purchses from the establishment over the other side of the line. A FP for wonderfully informative cache notes. Our thanks to Saint.Anthony.
Finally with a day just for myself while i was home with 2 weeks long service leave , i took the geodog and myself out for some cache hunting around the Creswick area.
Satellites weren't being nice here placing my GZ in the middle of the road. Tried searching on the nearby large object with no luck, found necessary numbers on smaller object for the bonus cache. Will try another day.

On the coldest day for ages in Ballarat with light rain and the temperature hovering around four degrees only crazy geocachers and ducks would venture out into the bush.
After attending the Hidden Creatures Event in Ballarat we are back out in the Creswich area getting some more smiley faces with au.fait and Mogni from SA. This guy turned out to be a harder find and lost some skin before resorting to a better tool, signed and we were on our way to the next on our list after noting the number for the future.

I'd headed to Melbourne on the 5th May for a weekend stay to see Priscilla: Queen of the Desert
Instead there was a mammoth change in my plans when the Corolla suddenly needed new brakes [xx(] which led to needing new tyres [^] which led to needing a new wheel bearing [xx(]
So a weekend turned into almost 3 full weeks and my HUGE thanks to the very patient and tolerant kmace who not only provided accommodation for myself but also for Rex [:X][:X]
Having your home invaded by a rabid geocacher who gets irritated when they have no car to go and find caches because it is in the workshop [xx(] and a pup who shreds his toys all over the house is not an easy ask for a day or two: let alone 20 odd days! [:X]
Rex also loved the beaches and the seagulls so there were many walks on the beach, some in pouring rain and gusting winds but that's what being a dog owner is about [^]
During this time some fantastic caches were found and some adventures occurred [^]
My thanks to all of the COs for the fun and the finds [^]
Day 22 of the trip and Rex and I packed up and left kmace's home this morning and headed out to meet leafotwind for a trip to Ballarat as he wanted to target a few caches there and I was more than happy to pick up anything that I had not yet found
After returning leafotwind to his car I went on to find my last cache for the day at 2.20am (appropriate as it was a cache about night caching ) and then Rex and I stayed near the awesome Sand Bar Cafe and the beach before finally heading for Shepparton much later in the day. All up 14 caches were found with only 1 and we even got muggled by geocachers BernieH and The Muggle Wife Does at the Ballarat cemetery
This cache took a fair amount of time to find, just like the previous cache!
However since I'm stubborn and did not want to leave without finding it, I figured I had better think harder and voila: a cache was found! [^]
It took some effort to remove the camo to get at the cache so trust your instincts while still being gentle!

Find #700 today, so it was only fitting to grab a local cache. Been sitting on this one for a while, so it's great to add a smilie to the map. Thanks St Anthony for the consistent placements out here, and for the interesting array of caches.
#14094. Another full day of caching around the Ballarat area with Robmc. Today we did a few at Miners Rest, visited a Christmas Tree and did an odd few at Creswick after our late lunch. Man, that wind was strong though - strong enough to blow the freckles off your face.
It was cold, wild and windy here at 3.00pm so I didn't want to search too long for a cache here. Fortunately very good coordinates had us at a likely place to search and with a little perseverence we had the cache to hand for a quick sign and return. The rail route through to Daylesford looks like it would have been quite a climb for quite a distance. It is a shame that there is nothing left here (yet again).
Thanks Saint.Anthony

The second full day in Ballarat and surrounds with BettyBoo3747.
Today we went through Miners Rest and then to the Christmas series. We then had a late lunch in Creswick, and a few caches around town to finish off.
This station isn't closed - it is non-existent!
The Woollen Mills were doing good business in tourists though. We shielded ourselves from them while signing the log.
Thanks, Robmc.
