Woweeeee! Saw the light saw where we had to go and said woweeee again. A perfectly stunning cache location. Fortuitously a machine had been putting in a new track or maybe just doing some rehab so we followed it some of the way.Now me its like Norfolk has been a myth or has at least has been in the imagination mirrored by faded school lessons for so longnow the dream to visit Norfolk Island is real! The holiday suddenly looks busy busy with a schedule of tours, events and 70+ caches to find. From the first step on the island everything has been fabulous. Cache found quickly and logged as VIIPERS - a crew of caching buddies from Vic and Tassie ( who include cybergran V, SciFiRulz, Riddell, icybeetas Weirdobiker) TFTC and the fun. A FAVE for location!
Found by Ronice who was first on the scene after a short hike. Lovely day for caching. Thanks for the cache.
Found by the VIIPERS. There may not be snakes on Norfolk Island, but now there are VIIPERS. We are V(al Cybergran V) I(an icybeetas) I(an Riddell) P(am weirdobiker) E(velyn SciFiRulz) R(onice Ronice88) and S(ylvia Riddell who is with us in spirit.) Ronice spotted this one first. An easy puzzle once you work out what to do. TFTC
A group of geocaching friends consisting of Val (cybergran V), Ian (half of the team Riddell) Ian (icybeetas) Pam (weirdobiker) Evelyn (SciFiRulz), Ronice (Ronice88) and Sylvia (half of team Riddell) are touring Norfolk Island with the aim of finding every cache here. This was a quick find of a cache in good condition and in a magnificent location The log signed as Viipers to save space. Thank you TeamAstro for placing and maintaining it as it enhanced our visit to this beautiful island. A favourite point for the view.
A group of caching friends are visiting from the mainland and enjoying the scenery while caching. The log was signed as team (viipers) who include cybergran V, SciFiRulz, Riddell, Ronice88, icybeetas and myself. At the end we approached from different directions but got there at the same time. This is the most beautiful bay and quite turbulent today. The trek was well worth it to get to this gorgeous spot
Wow. Clever puzzle, how do people know this stuff?Great walk, no wet feet today. But boy oh boy, the ocean was a literal washing machine here. Sat watching it, absolutely mesmerised, for some time. On a two week holiday on Norfolk Island stunning vistas everywhere I look, unfortunately the camera doesnt do it justice Thank you TeamAstro for placing this game piece here, showcasing this lovely area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
(5 of 6 today)Our final full day on the island, and the Woof Patrol (aka **Calypso 62**, **Jackscruff**, **Goldberry17**, **FunFurMe**, **creativechookie** and me) only have a few caches to pick up to finish all the finds - except tomorrow's farewell event. Our trip is winding down. But we still have one more walk with our wonderful tour guide **endeavour 3**.###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###For our final physical find on the island we had the intrepid **endeavour 3** with us.We started the walk from a familiar spot and hiked through the pines - and the steep downhills - until we reached the final downhill and the final pine.Again, there just aren't words to describe the views. The cache was quickly found and we all signed the log. Then it was time for the hike back. Thanks to our host for his great help this week. Without whom...Now I can log the challenge!SLTNLNTFTC
#6103After our morning CITO event, endeavour3 agreed to act as our guide to the final of this puzzle cache. A pleasant walk ensued and we soon arrived at GZ, another spectacular location on Norfolk Island. With log signed it was time to head back to the cars. This is another cache find that is getting me closer to finding every cache on the island. Nice work TeamAstro.
Well this is the final cache to find on Norfolk Island! When I arrived on the island a week ago I did not really think it would be possible for me to find all the caches as there is just so much to do here and with some excursions booked and my interest in history, well you know. But now there is just this one left, so I'm really keen to find it.We checked out the walk on Friday and decided it maybe was not for our group. Our local guide endeavour3 did not want us to be defeated with just one cache to be found and kindly escorted up down to GZ. Don't think we'd have found the track without him! At times the track was hard to follow and at times the track was just hard! Being vertically challenged that long grass was really difficult to trudge through for me. It was well worth the effort. What a magnificent spot!! The rougher seas today made for lots of swell in the bay, looked fantastic. What a great spot to end our walks on Norfolk Island. Well not quite finished, we still have to make it back up to the top!Favourite point for this special spot.TFTC # 6076
We spent a fun and productive week geocaching on Norfolk Island, as well as seeing the spectacular views. We also did several tours and other activities on offer, which highlighted different aspects of the island life and history. Thanks for this cache.
Thanks to Duncan for your guidance out the cache. Its a beautiful walk with a few ups and downs and a bit of long grass to negotiate. TFTC
Wow! Thankfully we had Endeavour3 with us to show us how to traverse the headland. A truly amazing view - a favourite point from me!
Found during a week of geocaching on Norfolk Island with GeoMates. It was a successful week and an adventurous one. Thanks go to TeamAstro for placing this cache.
My buddies: bella at waggy & crash2079Norfolk is gorgeous! I froze because of the narrow path my buddies took. I really had to be encouraged to keep going. It happened again on the way back! Only later to find out that there is a path that's not so scary!Thank you TeamAstro, for creating, placing and maintaining this cache. I have enjoyed finding it and visiting this spot.Follow my story on Instagram @AlphaDeltaIndigo
Caching with Crash and ADI. Managed to see the light for the puzzle.Crash and I took the more adventurous route to ADI's horror.Found an empty egg near GZ and a quick find of the themed containerWe completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
#7597 NI Day #4Having rounded up all the caches around the Cascades area earlier in the morning, it was time to tackle a more challenging cache Show me the Lights after lunch. B@W, ADI and I headed down the Two Chimneys track and were soon greeted with fantastic views. But our trek had only just begun as we continued on to one of the Chimneys. The area around GZ was fantastic with the various colours of blue water contrasted against the dark basalt. Signing the log here was a bonus. Thoroughly enjoyed this one and easily gets a FP.TFTC TeamAstro
We saw the light working through NI mysteries a few manths back and saw it again today in a group walk that endeavour3 kindly offered. Another stunning spot to marvel at the ocean power. Thanks TeamAstro.
Found with Ris768 while travelling on Norfolk Island TFTCLog 3292Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache TeamAstro
Billion dollar view! The walk in and out was a bit demanding, but the views were worth it. Def worth an FP! ?? TFTC TeamAstro
Found with our group after the breakfast event. And what a find it was! The wall to GZ was tough, but we managed to find a safe and somewhat reliable path. The cache itself was very apt, and the views were just amazing. Well worth the hike and definitely worth a FP. TFTC
Found it. What a wonderful walk to a glorious view. Tough in parts but with a great group of cachers I was in good hands. This is a FP from me, in fact my first.
The most amazing spot so far. Gets a FP. Wish we could give more than one. The caching highlight of our trip so far. Thanks Team Astro. How did you find this spot? TFTC.
#14397 9:45The third day of Geo Adventure 2024 with a group of 30+ geocachers visiting Norfolk Island. Roaming around the island for a few days, a smaller group decided to tackle sthe East coast of the island today. With some instructions from Endeavour3 we commenced our walk from the carpark at the end of Two Chimney Road. It was a demanding walk, initially steep downhill, crossing a creek and then navigating our way through Norfolk Island pine trees and across knee-high grass. Thankfully this island does not have any snakes.Close to GZ it was another steep descent to GZ but we were rewarded with fantastic views. Easily worth a FP. And as a bonus there was a geocache to be found. These are the geocaches that make our hobby so special as it takes you to places you would otherwise never have visited.TFTC Team Astro.
I enjoyed solving this puzzle, something I'd only seen once before. This is a hard cache to get to. Lots of. off track once you get past the lookout which has wonderful views. Thanks for the explicit instructions on the route and to endeavour3 for pointing out the route on satellite view. This made it much easier to navigate to. I came prepared with thongs and a hand towel for the creek crossing and yep, I got wet feet so glad my shoes stayed dry. I mostly made my way across rather than straight down and even this was a very steep slope. I'm very glad it was not wet. Once near GZ, it was another scramble to get to the right alitude, but oh the views. No doubt the most easterly point here and a magnificent rock pool below. Love the camoed cache, what a novelty. At GZ there was a dark cloud looming overhead and one spot of rain, so thought it best to get out , but it was nothing soon the sun was beating down upon me again on the very steep climb back out. Back at the creek, I wondered if there was a place to cross that does not get you wet feet. I went further downstream right under the trees, found the plank which was now partly submerged and yep right in the trees I could step over the creek. Dry feet. Thats my tip for future finders, head under the trees downstream. I was so pleased not to have red mud on my feet. From there , it was still all up hill back to the car. This was a most excellent adventure. However, this cache will not be for everyone, take note of the terrain. It's not easy.
Day 6 of my Norfolk Island adventure. I can understand why people want to live here . Its a little bit of paradise. I saved the hardest terrain caches in my opinion till last. But all come with a stunning view. This was my last cache to find to claim the challenge cache . Great views but I did disturb a nesting bird . Some logs signed as N2OThis is my 12134find.Thankyou TeamAstro for placing and maintaining this cache
T-Tech and I are visiting Norfolk Island for our 40th anniversary. We arrived from Brisbane and are staying for 2 weeks at Endeavour Lodge, and plan to get some R&R, see all of the sites, learn the history, and gather every cache here so we can claim the Se Dun Challenge Today we are heading east again as there are a few solved puzzles to be collected. T-Tech led the way in this one as I was well out of my comfort zone, but as a friend says, "crawling is still moving forward" The views were pretty spectacular, and the cache easily found. TFTC, TeamAstro.
Over with IolantheK from Brisbane celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary [^]Out for another day of caching up the east side of the island this time.Puzzle was "relatively" easy (like most puzzles "looking bac in hindsight" as one says all puzzles are easy) Had some difficulty Moving on now on the Island; Got to where the CO had indicated was the best approach and on we went. The approach made IolantheK more than a little nerves at times but we got there and back safely.Nice easy find at GZ, with an appropriately themed container, cache in good condition [^]We were glad of where the container was placed as one potential location would have disturbed a nesting bird TFTC TeamAstro a fav point from me [^]
Find # 10472Day 3 in Norfolk, here for a week of caching fun with geofriends Joolay, barb2e, StrangeTrousers, and iPlod. Zoom zoom zooming around in Kermit (green not red) ?? Logging as DEMCBR.Wild and wooly weather here today. This was a quick and easy find and ?? here at Show Me The Lights today. ??Thanks so much for the many caches TeamAstro and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light ????
# 8949 Norfolk Day 3, team "Dem CBR" myself, iPlod65, Joolay, barb2e and contesta had another fantastic day of caching and exploration. We started down at Kingston with our host for the morning: Endevour3. It was cool and very blustery today, but not enough to discourage us. Then it was off to east coast to grab some more difficult caches. Lots of climbing today, but always stunning destinations. Finally off up to Captain Cook Pt for a couple of amazing spots.Cool puzzle. A bit of an adventure to reach, but we did it. Amazing coastline. Cool themed container too. Some logs signed collectively "Dem CBR".Thanks TeamAstro for the Mystery Cache
On holiday in Norfolk Island with StrangeTrousers. Beautiful Island. TFTC signed as DEM CBR
God this was hard work. But not as hard as I expected. Bit of a walk down but easily found the plank kindly placed to avoid wet feet and then out to get this. Not difficult, you just to be careful. How exciting to be at Norfolk finally. This has been the plan for so long. Lovely to be here with Contesta, barb2e, Strangetrousers and IPlod65, signing as DEM CBRThanks for getting me out and about TeamAstro
Found with the Canberra group towards the end of a long 4th day of our Norfolk Island geocaching adventure. Log signed as Dem CBR and the group were certainly pleased to get back up the hill. Tftc
This cache was quite an adventure we weren’t quite prepared for. (We left the water in the car)
We stood at the two chimneys reserve lookout and looked in the direction of the cache. Which way would we take. We took the way which involved the water crossing and then it seemed like it was all uphill. My husband struggled with his plantar fasciitis but soldered on. We made it to this house on the hill where my husband rested while I made the trek down to the cache. So glad for an easy find. The cache guardian didn’t bother me and allowed me to do my thing. Then it was back up the hill, then down and across the water crossing and back up to the car. We think if there is a house up on the hill there must be an easier route to the cache. It was adventurous and a deserving of a favourite point for the memory and amazing views
Thanks to Endeavour 3 for steering me in a direction to solving the puzzle. TFTC

Another small nudge helped me solve this. The trip to the cache wasn't as scary as it looked, but it was a slog. The huge waves were making a large "boom" sound on part of it. This was a pretty cool hide, but please try not to disturb the cache guardian. I made the find and logged it away from the hide and quickly put it back. Loved the idea of the puzzle, and the challenge of finding it. Keeps my feet dry too. Thanks.
Puzzle solved before leaving home. Well this was a huge struggle for me today, at least I got my feet wet to cool down. Wazza9 didnt want to disturb the nesting bird. Today is Wazza9 & my last day of geocaching on the Island. We came 7 days ago, today marks that we have found every cache on the Island. 7th cache of 10 today, a very quick find. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO. Fantastic views.
TFTC,
Day 7 on the Island and back into some walking to caches. Our aim was to finish the 10 remaining caches on the Island so that we don't have to panic tomorrow.
Solved this at home after I saw the light.
That was a massive walk for both of us I left Nana on top of the rock and I went down to disturb the nesting bird. She complained a bit but let me find the light and hand it to Nana to stamp.
Visited trackables and added a favourite.

On 15 October 2022 a new batch of prisoners were shipped out of Brisbane to spend 7 days incarcerated on Norfolk Island. It has now been 5 nights and countless days into their sentence at Ocean Breeze Cottages.
Now this is an adventure the prisoner will not forget. Looking down from the high ground the prisoner pondered, should he walk down along the knife edge cliff line trail? While this looked exciting one wrong step would never see the prisoner leave the Island alive.
Sanity prevailed and an inland deviation was chosen. Skirting along the fence line to avoid the attention of any guard the prisoner then dropped down into the bush. The long term prisoner E3 had informed the prisoner that the swiftly flowing creek could be impassable at times. However and prisoner able to walk a plank would find the hidden resources to assist with a crossing.
Now on track the prisoner stood in awe of the splendor of this place. Wow.
On returning back after locating the cache the prisoner looked up into the heavens and saw a sign. Surely this sign is the real means of escape from the NI.

The morning started out with a light breeze and clear skies so the decision was made to look for this cache. By the time we arrived at the parking spot the sky was overcast and not long after hubby had headed off to find the cache it began to rain. I As I knew the terrain was beyond me I waited in the car and waited and waited.
The next question is how long do you sit and wait for someone to return from looking for a cache. I was giving him till 12 and then what I am not quite sure. A good thing he returned by 11.30 with a story you would not believe, he had taken the wrong path and ended up walking back along Martin's road. Any way long story short the cache was found and the log has been signed. SL TFTC

Norfolk Island and Sydney trip, Day 6, Norfolk Island - Two Chimneys, Ball Bay and surrounds.
We made the mistake of leaving this one until late in the day, hoping to link it with a winery visit. Winery was closed, so that plan was aborted.
I'm not sure whether to thanks the CO for the adventure, or swear at him (although we are thankful for some access guidance this time).
The walk starts off easy enough, then gets a bit hairy either side of the wading opportunity (pictured), then opens up nicely before getting downright dangerous about 40m from GZ.
Cache signed and back to the car in time for a sundowner.

After eating breakfast, me and dad headed out to nab this one. After parking at the recommended spot, we made our way down the hill to the lookout and then started the walk/climb down to the cache. After making it over the ‘wading’ without getting a speck wet, we trudged through the long grass towards GZ.
We got close to GZ and realised we needed to head down lower, so we started going down the hill towards the cache. Once we arrived at GZ we scrambled down the rocky bit and found the cache tucked away. Signed the log and headed on out, boy is it quite a big hill to get out though…
TFTC, FP for the cool container and cool spot!

We enjoyed this puzzle, a relaxing sit down after dinner one night, it was nice to watch the coordinates pop out one by one.
We studied the description and took note of the access route, so set off after breakfast today, while my wife and young Oliver prepared for a beach trip.
We parked in 'Sydney', then set off down the track with crocs in our bags and a mini towel for the wading. Initially started bush-bashing, then quickly thought better of it, and outflanked the bush to the west. We jumped the creek and rolled with the hills before noting the GPS taking us further down. A safe way was spotted and within a minute we had the cache, and its fun container. All signed and rehidden.... TFTC!

We liked this puzzle and we enjoyed the walk.
This arvo after the rain stopped (the sun even came out for a little while) we took a drive to find your cache. And find it we did.
Yep our feet did get quite wet as we crossed a stream. Up and over the hills we went and soon we were only 40m from it. Down we went.
As we approached GZ we saw the lights.
Pretty soon we had the cache in hand.
Thank you for the beaut cache.

Our second day on NI and while participating in the morning CITO we detoured to collect your cache. Thanks to all the COs for these caches and thanks to E3 for placing as well as maintaining them all.
A darn good walk and great views!

OMG! OMG! OMG!
That was one solid walk or was it! Yes it was! Heart Rate increased significantly.
The positive side was the great views at GZ. The surf was up and the large waves were crashing against the rocks.
Oh yeah, before I forget, cache was found and log signed.

Thanks for the walk to find the torch. Got the heart rate up to 156 , but has the joy of finding a chick near the cache.

Lots of birds eggs down here and the birds were not so happy about us walking past them although we were careful. A big white bird right by the cache sat there determined it was never moving unlike the other smaller birds. Pretty spot worth the walk to. Found our way without to much trouble, its a bit of a longer hillier walk than many others on NI but we got there okay.
Trip log: Norfolk Island... Not something we had been planning to do but with GreyHams noticing travel here was starting up again, a good deal on flights and that this would count as a new caching 'country' this was indeed a very tempting location to visit.
Puzzles were solved, our double vaccinations certificates ready to go. A last minute change in the entry requirements added our PCR tests... but we arrived.
We had a challenge to collect as many of the caches as we could in the 48 hours we would be on the Island... A caching trip, but one that guided us around into every hidden gem the Island had to offer. All its beauty, history, scenic and quirky... and moisture! Humidity that sucked the energy out of every pore as we sweated our way about, but it was awesome!
An event the first evening was fantastic to meet with endeavour3, a wealth of local knowledge and assistance... both caching and the local area. It was great to confirm details, amend as needed and with a few DNFs help us back on track.
An honourable mention to the cows, especially the one that licked all over the car, the feral chickens (but not the roosters that wake up far to early and noisily) and the very friendly waving people everywhere we went!
Thanks for your cache that helped guide us about, and can all the caches be found within 48 hours... I'm very pleased to say that yes we could!

Aquilus1 and myself were on a mission: Go to Norfolk Island and clear the place out in 48 hours! This we achieved as we arrived well prepared, having ground out the puzzles (some with assistance) so that we had coords for nearly all hides before leaving Australia.
Brain tickler test & vaccination certificates in hand, we were shocked on arrival that our Australian mobiles had no roaming coverage....NONE! But, thankfully it seems most accommodation not only comes with a car, but comes with a phone as well.
I swear we did at least 5 laps of the island, I knew my way around very well by the end. NI is such a beautiful place, I am coming back with the family in a month and I already know exactly where I will take them.
On our first day we hosted an event and thankfully the local legend cacher, endeavour3, graced us with his presence. Some sage advice on the trickiest of NI hides was gladly received
And, it has to be said......OMG THE HUMIDITY!!! Canberra has none at all, it was a major shock to the system!

I sorted out this puzzle, and the walk was a great introduction to NI terrain. The birds & eggs at GZ were remarkable

A puzzle solved in NZ. After scrambling around to find Bird Rock just one unfound cache remained for me to find on Norfolk Island, and this was it. Accompanied by Injeanious and drawp I sidled around from 2 Chimneys reserve to the cache. A little eadier coming back! Great adventure. Thanks TeamAstro, for both the puzzle and cache.
Found on the Norfolk Island Geotrip 2021.

I headed out to the cache after Bird Rock with Jude_E and Drawp. We had been given information on how best to get there but somehow ended up bush bashing our way down. We got there in the end but knew there must've been a better way, thankfully we found it on the way back! A great cache in a cool location, well worth the detour. Tftc.
An interesting walk for this cache with some steep climbs descents and bush bashing . Some wild coastline. cache all good TFTC
This adventure felt like being an a living episode of Shallows and Amazons as we made our way across the hill, down the valley, across the stream, through the pines, around the grassy area and finally got to GZ. Thankfully Duncan was there so I didn't do my usual trick of straight-lining. T4tc
Another one solved in NZ, so it was nice to come and get it today. This was a group assault to find but managed to sign the log book. TFTC
We solved this puzzle more than a year ago in anticipation of a 2020 trip to Norfolk Island that did not eventuate because of Covid. Finally made it here with our group of fellow kiwi cachers in July 2021.
This afternoon we met up with Duncan at the car park and made our way to GZ. This cache earned the terrain stars, especially wading through the long grasses and the final few metres to GZ. A very apt cache container here, thanks. Adding a Favourite point.

Saw the Light, after a considerable walk from the closest parking area. Great surges of water in the pools nearby. Tftc
Excellent puzzle once you know how ??. Well we have to agree with the person who said this was the toughest terrain cache on the island! Maybe it was because it was pretty warm and humid today, maybe we were tired from all our hilly walks, not sure but we found it tough going. Luckily Mr matmob who is a slightly reluctant geocacher was somewhat placated when he saw a huge school of tuna from GZ ??. As usual great ocean views. Loved the container. Thanks for the exercise. ......
I loved this puzzle because I could do it! Then we had heaps of trouble deciding how to get to gz. Then the walk..... we managed it without accident but for us geriatrics it was a difficulty 6. Great views and we loved seeing the birds nesting in the hollows at the base of trees. TFTC a fav
That was physically draining, but fortunately today it didn’t involve wet feet. However, lovely views of the blue ocean on this sunny day as a reward. A red-tailed tropicbird is nesting below this cache. TFTC TeamAstro.
Brisk walk from the carpark. Thought I was walking to Sydney. Look, look, eventually found the buried item under a lot of soil and rocks.
Signed the lig and replaced where I think it should have been. Tftc

I solved this puzzle at home and went in search for it this afternoon. It was a bit of a scramble down the hill, through the grove of pine trees, scrambling through the long grass, up the hill then down toward the lone pine tree. I got to around 25m to GZ and that's pretty much where my journey for this one ended. As I'm not as young as I used to be, I found my approach too steep and slippery. I looked around for another way in but again I wasn't feeling confident. In the end, being alone, I decided I didn't need a medivac off the island with a broken leg so gave this hunt away. Talking to endeavour3 later, he told me of a better approach I could have made. Unfortunately, I didn't get the opportunity to come back for a second try. Thanks anyway TeamAstro. It was a nice little puzzle.
Oh boy - what torture! I was still rather tired from yesterday's mammoth effort and we were out on the road by 6am in order to grab this one before the wether turned too hot. I think it was hot from the time the sun rose - maybe there is no breeze at this time of the day, but I soon knew the sun was up! Thanks goodness a local gave us some hints as to what line we should walk or following the GPSr would have been impossible. I found walking through this matted type of grass quite tiring as I had to lift my feet high to avoid the creepers and then sometimes my foot went deeper than I was expecting. However again I made it to the GZ and the log was signed and returned to its resting place. Another good challenge TeamAstro, which I conquered, so another FP.
Justjessie and I made a late decision to spend a week holidaying on Norfolk. A quick check of the caching map revealed the "Se Dun challenge" The local term for completing something, so we set about "completing" all 53 caches on the Island. Can't be that hard can it....?
Close to finishing the 53 caches we made an early start to find this one before heading back for a big breakfast..
Each log has a random picture from our time on the Island, we would recommend it to other cachers as a great way to spend a week, getting to know the Island the people and their heritage.

We had 2 caches left that required a hike so we decided to do one early this morning and the other tomorrow morning. Sought some advice on the best approach and once there it was an easy find

Find 12 of 12 on our first day of caching on beautiful Norfolk Island.
Hoping to check out the stars from Mount Pitt later in the week. For now we have had to be happy with solving this puzzle.
Plenty of trekking up and down meant that we were quite stuffed before starting on this walk, but off we went knowing that there was more elevation and yielding high grass to get through, One good thing was that we didn't have to worry about snakes like we would usually, if Borgy, our tour guide this morning, was to be believed. Ended up being about a 2km hike in and out with 150m of ascent to get to a seriously wild GZ. The nesting bird is still there - I reckon it's a booby. The cache was uncovered eventually in a spot that Mr. O. had already looked at, doh. Toughest cache so far on NFI for sure!

We solved this puzzle long before we came to Norfolk, in preparation for our visit. We attempted to do this a couple of days ago but the weather was rather inclement. As in rain and 40 knots of wind sweeping up the cliff face. Mr S went some way down the track, as far as the seat, and although he could see where he should be going he decided that discretion in this case, was the better part of valour and abandoned the trek to GZ. We came back to our accommodation and sought some local knowledge, thinking perhaps there might be another way that was a bit less strenuous. But we were told no, that's private property, so the way to go is the way you suggest. After several days of intense geocaching around the island our old bodies are starting to feel the effects. Obviously we are not as fit as we think we are. Lost count of how many k's we must have walked, up hill and down dale. You guys don't make things easy do you.? ?? Because of the weather we have not even been able to see a single star. Oh well, we will just have to be content with the ones we see at home in Rotorua.
Thanks Team Astro for the brain workout, and for taking us there even though we didn't make a find.

What an interesting adventure getting to GZ! We spotted a cluster of white eggs on the ground on the way there. Up and down, through the forest, wading through the ridiculously deep grass, clambering over rocks and it took us way too long to find the cache once at GZ! Cool container. Another cache ticked off on our mission to collect them all on our 4 day stay. TFTC and the adventure!
The puzzle was the easy part - getting to the cache - well! Attempt 1 .... bush bashing, slipping and sliding only to get to GZ and think "how do I get to it???" it was almost dusk and we had a dinner booking so I dragged my bones and an extra load of disappointment back. We consulted with a local and found an easier way in and also told ...yes, you can get to the cache. And that I did ....still no walk in the park but done and dusted! This has to be the hardest terrain I have done but the sense of achievement still lingers! TFTC
Well that was an adventure! I had lots of help solving this puzzle before coming to Norfolk and I remember thinking... that's going to be a good walk/hike... and it was. The thick buffalo grass was hard going for a shortie like me... 'The Mr' found it a little easier going. First we were down... then up... then down again before finally arriving at GZ. Thankfully the find was the easiest bit out of this whole cache. Absolutely stunning location... and another good work out for my camera. Felt like a really special place to visit. Thanks for the brain and body work out!
Day 4 on Norfolk Island Island and we continue our exploration of all parts of the island, its scenery, history and rich culture. Of course as we do this we are searching for caches as we go.
We looked at this puzzle a week or so before we left and something immediately gelled. That got us started, but then we were not sure what to do with the information we gained. We pondered for a while and threw around a range of ideas far more complicated than required before a bit of advice had us on track and obtaining some correct coordinates.
Yesterday we went out to the required part of the island to look for some other caches as well as the final for this one. We went to one possible point to launch off from but decided that was not likely and then headed off to another. Once there we thought our way was also blocked so went home to seek some local advice.
It turned out we had in fact been in the correct place to start but had just not looked closely enough. Very frustrating!
So off we went again today after caching elsewhere and then heading down to Emily Bay for some snorkelling and a swim. A lovely day for it.
We were surprised at the diversity and quality of the coral in the bay as well as the range of fish. Well worth the effort and so easily accessible. We swam back via the pontoon and tried to emulate the efforts of the students at the swimming carnival yesterday failing obviously!
Then late in the day it was back for this cache. Off we headed on the trek up and down slopes and through knee high buffalo grass.
The final location was another marvellous surprise where we took photos before making the straightforward find. Another aptly themed container.
Thank you for another puzzle we were able to solve and for taking us to a great location on Norfolk.
A favourite from us.

Solving the puzzle to generate the required coordinates was simple enough once you got started.
Finding the best spot to commence this cache was arguably the most challenging element. We scopes out a few possible options before we spoke with Endeavour3 who made a possible staring point recommendation. After this finding the cache was basically all downhill from
There.
The path quickly disappeared and you made your own in consultation with the GPS.
Once in the vicinity of the
Vacate hide the additional hint proved most insightful.
A challenging hide and one that felt great to have found.

Had help in solve from Team Welsh in NZ .
Today was the day to make the trek to the final !
Quite a trek it was too ...A lot of ups and downs ...and then a bit near an edge....
I took my shoes off for this and another trickyish terrain one today...and felt more secure .
Really cool surprise at end when I found "It "

Had solved it before coming here. Had tried to get it this morning but met so many private properties that we gave up. During discussions at the event in town we determined the correct approach. Great walk in along an incredible coastline. Got the cache and tried to shine light on everything but the item seemed a little too dark for the job!! What an area.

After finishing Bird Rock we asked Mr MR how long it took to find this cache. The answer indicated we had plenty of time so we headed this way. Slow Puncture had not been here also, so we joined forces for another cache hunt.
We must have chosen the hardest way in and crossed a creek two too many times. The long grass also impeded progress - but we are hardy cachers and this didn't stop us.
We got to the GZ and Slow Puncture spotted the container first. I spotted a large bird sitting (probably nesting) under the large rock below the cache.
The sea was rough and the shores nearby were like washing machines. So we took plenty of photos before heading back, by the more direct route.
This was another fun hunt with pleasant company.

Saturday. Day five of our fabulous week on Norfolk.
We teamed up with Diadem and TaurusSix to get this one. Such a lovely walk and we managed to turn it into longer than needs be, by misjudging if and then where we needed to cross the creek (and then again). The walk to GZ was a little strenuous because of elevation changes and very deep tufty grass. The views at GZ were spectacular and breathtaking, and we couldn't get enough pictures.
Even though this was just the second cache we had done today - the first being Bird Rock - they probably qualify as the toughest 2 on the island. That we did them one after the other was not planned but man, were we stuffed [xx(]
PLEASE NOTE: There is currently a Tern nesting one metre from GZ, please approach carefully.
This was the 2nd of 8 caches found on today's meanderings.
Thanks ***TeamAstro***, for showing us this place.

I'm glad there's a hint as the cache is so well hidden and does blend in.
Nice puzzle and great spot, though a bit of a struggle back to the car.
Thanks TeamAstro.

We had the correct coordinates for this but were not sure how to get to it. Never mind we will try again next time.
Solved this one the other week and headed out today to find it as our 700th find. Drove as close as we could and realised it was inaccessible from that way, due to private properties. Tried from a different angle and had an amazing walk to the cache. Searched the right place first but couldn't find it so searched everywhere else around the area before, after a while, coming back to the first spot and found it.
A word of caution that a Tropic bird is nesting, tucked away, right at GZ. Though she was asleep while I was there it might be worth treading carefully while near the cache.
By far my favourite cache on the island so far. Thanks for the cache.

Spent a great week on Norfolk Island. Decided to find all the caches and as it is a small island geowife and I thought we didn't need a car. Thought we might need a bike but in the end walking was fine. 133 km of walking. BTW Oztopo v8 is about 1km out so can't be relied on at all for NI. Many, many thanks to endeavour 3 for all his work.
Onto Day 6 now which was 12km of walking. Second time I had tried to find this. Solved the puzzle before leaving home but when I got there could not see a way to get there without crossing through lots of electric fences. Was initially complicated by tradies being onsite also. On this day tried along the waterfront - not recommended - lots of rock hopping and keeping a very wary eye out for big waves. Then back up to the closest point from the road and still can't find a way through. If the Oztopo map had been correct I might have seen the correct way to it but as it is I gave up in the end so missed out by 1 cache from finding all the ones on the island. Darn. Never mind - lots more caches in the world.
And thanks to TeamAstro for all the clever hides and work put in.

Our second day on the island and after some retail therapy followed by a leisurely lunch we continued on the cache trail.
Puzzle solved at home in preparation for our visit to the island.
We made our way down the track and then headed towards GZ avoiding the boggy area on the way. Fabulous photo opportunity at GZ and a well themed hide (we have a similar hide on Rangitoto Island) TFTC.

The puzzle was a piece of cake, getting to the cache not as much so. Caching on Norfolk is always twice as hard because of the relative lack of internet, and it turned out I was in the wrong area for much of the time. An angry sooty shearwater on her eggs didn't help much. Determined not to give up I made it to the right spot and had the cache in hand! By far the toughest terrain cache on Norfolk, and a great container to match. TFTC
Left husband in car to make this find he was not keen about walk up anymore hills today.
I am sitting their enjoying this years Masterchef on TV when my iPad starts pinging. Is it a Snapchat, reminder, Instagram? No, it is notification of a new cache hidden on the rock! And it is also a puzzle cache [?] How to solve while watching Masterchef Finally an ad break Quickly solved, and one of those approaches was very familiar. I have lost count the number of times I have approached Point B when I used to do Scenic flights in a Cessna around Norfolk Island. .
The next question was do I rush out in the middle night to get a FTF or sleep on it. After all this is Norfolk Island so I slept on it. [)]. Next morning do I approach the cache the way the CO recommends. Nah, I am a cacher. I know all the good shortcuts. After dodging a few cows, sliding under a couple of electric fences, it was down, down, down to the GZ. My GPSr pointed directly to the Cache. [^]. An empty log book . Another (FTF) for me
