Have we found the older one instead? It was in the obvious spot and easily found. Oh well, names are in it.Thanks MillsandLills for entertaining me at this location.Cool *{Overall find #11720}* Cool

TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 7 - wow day seven already just two more days here on the Coromandel Peninsula before moving on to our next destination. Today we decided to head to the Hot Beach to try a thermal spa on the beach. We knew high tide was around midday so got there about an hour early as advised. Well what a truly interesting and intriguing place . A beautiful long beach and people huddled in an approx twenty by twenty metre square digging away to strike hot water . It was really fascinating and we were lucky that when we started digging the family next to us said we are about to leave so have ours and it was the perfectly dug spa with beautiful hot water - thank you. We relaxed in the spa for a while then decided a nice long beach walk was the order of the day before collecting a nearby cache. On the way back we geocached as often as the traffic would permit and finished the day with a walk to the local waterfall in Pauanui which was spectacular. We collected 10 traditional geocaches for the day and had wonderful experiences.

Alas we did not find this cache here however we did have a wonderful walk to the waterfalls, they are quite spectacular in full flow.

Pacing by this way, and as we arrived the two carloads of muggles were just preparing to leave. Only had to wait a few minutes for them to pack up and I swooped in and nabbed the cache. Nicely concealed in the obvious spot. TFTC

TFTF Thanks for a quick find. Found with team SEAC

15-Jan-22
I had made a call out to team SEAC to see if anyone wanted to wonder to Pauanui for day outing to grab some caches. Ended up with a swamp of us wanted to go! So on the day itself, we packed up the bikes, picnic food and embarked on this great journey! All logs were signed as "SEAC" to save space.

15-Jan-22
A plan was hatched amongst a few of the Team SEAC crew from south and east Auckland to spend the day in Pauanui and surrounding areas to find some caches. We made a quick find here, noted that we must come back some other time to walk to the waterfall, and headed off to another cache.

15-Jan-22
Out with my geocaching buddies "Team SEAC" for a day of adventures.

Just finished the bike trail, nice quick park n grab.

15-Jan-22
After a great day in PAuanui with team SEAC enjoying the sun and the caching, we started to make our way to Tairua. Mrs HeMaLuDy made this quick find. TFTC!

15-Jan-22
As luck would have it NZTravellers, B4Dawn and I realised that all our other work and social commitments aligned to give us some free time this week so what better way to put this to use then some afternoon / evening / night caching the WHOLE week!!! After 4 weekdays of very long days (work in the morning, then caching all evening) we took a break on friday to get ready for a bigger Saturday to finish the week off. We had many more Team SEAC keen to join this one which we haven't done in a little while with all the lockdowns etc so it was a great day!

Mrs HeMaLuDy found the cache very quickly.

Thanks for the cache.

15-Jan-22
B4Dawn posted in our group chat of a trip down this way, a beautiful part of the country, to locate some of the local caches....some of us had found some but the majority were unfound by the group....

Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches, with the majority in good condition and dry...

Off the bikes after a little break and refueling at the nearby shopping centre....transferred to the cars for the rest of the day......caching....

Signed in as "SEAC" to save logbook space.

TFTC.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)… One of us had work in the Cook’s Beach/Hahei area. We decided to clear out some local caches and others while on the drive to and from home…

We have family living in Pauanui. On the odd occasion that we’ve visited them, we have tried to chip away at these cycleway and roadside hides. Unfortunately, we’ve only managed to pick off a few, so it’s high time we took action… We understood the hint and spotted an object quickly. It took a few careful sweeps to find this fairly obvious container. Thanks MillsandLills and TFTC.

08-Jun-21
Tricky entering and exiting this spot as the road drops off well but thankfully with little traffic on the road I was able to enter and exit slowly. My timing couldn't have been more perfect as a campervan pulled in and parked right by gz as I was about to leave.

24-Apr-21
A quick find as we returned from a nice day in Pauanui. Lots of nice painted rocks here too.
A bit of a bump to negotiate when entering and leaving the carpark, or at least it is for our little car, hope the council sorts it out.
Thanks Millsand Lills for bringing this walk to our attention.
There was no time to visit the waterfall today but we'll be back.

The search was on for this elusive one. But it remained elusive. So arrianged a replacement to help it along. Cheers. Now lets check out the water falls. These are great and deserve a cache!! Thanks for bringing me here..

Day 11 - Monday 28 December - Pauanui - Puketui Valley - Whangamata. Another full on day and hills to conquor!

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

28-Dec-20
Found a strange thing in a stump where .. I think it was near the track start. The dragon identified it - a hunting arrow head! Stuck in there very firmly, I could not budge it. The track is missing off the map, so I plotted it and will add it to the maps in a week or so. Left my pocket computer in the car, so no photos Sad

Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

22424 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.

Today we were went from Pauanui to Whitianga visiting Hot Water beach with our shovel. We enjoyed laying in the warm water and watching the sea nearby in the sun. Afterwards we continued our daytour looking for caches on the way up and coming down to Pauanui

Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Several were with waterproof paper, but our stamp and pen do not work that good on such paper, where when it was wet paper it logs fantastic.

MillsandLills TFTC and the fun it brought us. Theo

Day 2 of our Whangamata holiday and on the quest for more caches and some fun winter beach time. Decided today we would head to Pauanui to tackle the cycle trail and a few others.

No time to do the waterfall walk today but will definitely have to come and check it out. Soon spotted the cache and we were back on the road

Having a bit of a drive-around Pauanui now picking up the odd cache.

Off to see a waterfall.

Cheers for the cache.

18-Apr-18
We decided we would head up to Coromandel for a couple of days to do some Geocaching and walks, in spite of the heavy rain at home. Once we crossed the hills the weather soon improved and by the time we reached our destination it was fine and sunny. After staying at Thames overnight we decided to do the four or five unfound caches on the Tapu road and carry on to Pauanui. After overnighting down by the beach we spent this morning caching around Pauanui before heading back home. The hint made find easy and we just beat the rain. Had thought we might carry on and do the falls but the weather wasn't looking good so we decided to leave it until next time.

Thanks MillsandLills.

Gradually, me and rustynz are making our way around Pauanui gathering caches. Apart from the cycle trail I'll have all of them. Rusty has done the power trail - mostly ftf's so she's ahead of me up to now. We come here... she says there's a wonderful waterfall nearby she wanted to visit, but on the day Rebel98 (her hubby) wasn't in the mood to go and so she left it. But today, we're here. I sign myself in (she's done this one) and then we head to the falls.
