Our second day in Wangaratta and we decided on a walk picking up a few caches. All the trads we found today were quick finds. TFT

OzHockeyChick and I had decided to join the Eldorado night cache group assault and headed off early (a whole day early!) to grab a few caches along the way. We had a target list as well as visiting the north eastern TDOC23 caches.

We were in the middle of a night cache activity when we passed near this cache. It didn’t take long for us to locate and sign the log for this sneakily hidden cache.

Thanks Jamin Appleford for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Time to head north for a bit of a break from work, targetting a few special caches along the way, with some night caching and 4wding thrown in.

As RoamingHowie had found this previously, we only had a quick look as we were walking past tonight, to no avail. However, a determined RH wanted to have another look on the way back to our geovehicle - this time success!!

A quick easy find for a walk in this beautiful bushland area. Only one here for today.

Out caching with Agazo and Marchwood today, visiting the area for the Rutherglen mega. We started in Chiltern today to tidy up stuff we had started here a couple of days ago. Great to pick all the caches up, close by. Then we headed down to Wangaratta to pick up Ad labs and virtuals as well as any nearby trads or multis before heading to Rutherglen for BBQ lunch. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining

Quick grab while looking for an AL waypoint... didn't actually realise this was here til we were parked near it. Bit of a pain switching back & forwards between apps!

This is quite the busy little spot amongst the dog walkers despite the drizzle and flooded parts.

Found with Mrs Wackyweedo as we are down grabbing some caches in the area before work goes back Monday!

We were once again chasing a Lab and realised there was a grad here too. A quick find of the nicely tucked away cache between passing walkers. TFTC Jamin.

Got notified last week that the power was going out at the office which meant the server would not be available. Outcome would be a frustrating day with jo work done do I made the call and had a flex. Meant I had a day free so why not go caching. With all the love at Rutherglen lately poor old Wangaratta is not being visited much. Many caches today hadn’t been logged since January (which was a tad painful as many past logs were generic Megs ones). Original intention was to use the locationless cache to boost my best day to 8 (plus AdLabs) but the plan was foiled by flooding - didn’t realise how many caches would be inaccessible (too many to log). In the end I did end up at Rutherglen to get a few different types but will save the bonus cache for another day (no Earthcaches available to collect). However did find all 33 (plus 5 AdLab points) that I actually looked for – but a lot more I didn’t try as access was blocked by water.

It was near here I realised the Letterbox and Earthcache I had planned on weren’t going to be found here - lots of water around (also stopped at least two multis being accessed as well). But this one was a quick find - seen one just before so knew where to look.

I have looked for this cache before with no luck. This time I bought along someone a little taller

It was a last minute plan to head to the MEGA. I didn’t think I was going to make it, but an opportunity arose and I managed to get a night in the Big 4. Geo daughter and I had fun with the maze, lab caches and a few local trads before heading back to the big smoke. Thanks for the fun and all the CO and organiser efforts!

Another one for my morning stroll on the mega weekend. Took a little work, I needed the reassurance of other logs to keep looking, and got it in the end! Great series and a great walk TFTC

Find #2676 for me. Found at 11:55 am with my dog Bonnie after driving to Wangaratta from Bendigo once again for a second dose of mega fun! I'd parked at the mega site and from Google Earth it looked like a straightforward walk to this one, but my intended route was blocked off by flag barriers so I took a rather long way around via the road. On reflection, it would have made far more sense simply to drive to it as there were plenty of shady parks right at GZ and I don't think Bonnie was too happy with my roundabout approach! Anyway, I had to wait about 5 minutes before a muggle-free moment came along which enabled me to extract the cleverly placed cache and sign the logsheet. Thanks for bringing me here today Jamin Appleford and thanks for the cache!

Made my up to Wangaratta to attend the Mega event over this weekend that we have finally been able to attend.
Thanks to everyone behind the scenes for making this happen on this weekend.
After spending yesterday driving and walking to find as many caches of various types as I can and squeezing in a few Adventure labs around town then the tea event and of course a late night jaunt around some of the OMCT caches today was going to be a bit more of a relaxed day before helping out at the Mega site.
Another warm day so I was happy to park in the shade and look for this one.
I have to come back up this way again as there is still is quite a few caches around Wangaratta and the surrounding areas to do.
Luckily the place was deserted so I had a bit of time to look for this one.
A sneaky hide that soon revealed itself.

Wangaratta Mega trip Day 4. It has taken quite some time to get this trip going so it is a great feeling to be on the road for a great weekend away with great caching with friends and new friends. Today was the second day of the Mega itself. I spent most of the day with Gliss, Nibbletricecakes and Smitten Granny. We spent the day visiting as many of the caches around town as we could, doing multis and the puzzles that we had already solved amongst the large number of traditional caches. Another hot day that was very satisfying. The day ended with the farewell to the Mega event and at dusk the second CSI Night cache.

Wangaratta mega is now upon us, so naturally I'm out caching with AlexiKatty, trying to add as many smileys as I can while im hear. TFTC ??

A mega jaunt with endeavour3 saw us caching this cache and writing in the log, then we moved on. A lovely place to explore. Today was an amazing day - what with the rare GPS Maze I scored 14 cache types in a single day!

We actually struggled with this hide! More so than others with a higher D rating! Considering there was only 1 place the cache could be if the coordinates were not considerably out, we were initially confused. We must of done several loops of the sign each before it was spotted. Damm I looked there....!!!

26,648. Found with minniek along with a lot more attendees of The Wangaratta (Mega) Event. I was honoured with winning the Official First To Find for the Mega Event - something I will treasure forever.

minniek and I have really been looking forward to The Wangaratta Event. The Victorian Mega Events have been so well run over the years, and with the 2021 (2022) version of the series being held around Wangaratta we knew it was going to be a fun fun event. We headed off from Goulburn at around 7:15am and after about 4.5 hours we arrived at the Mega camp grounds to set up site. This cache was found before that during our run in to Wangaratta. At GZ we made a quick find. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one.

Sneaky little hide on this some what steamy morning grabbing some smilies along the river with a bunch of southern cachers as we made our way along this wonderful little piece of bush, this was our first stop and the cache was soon located and stamped. Thanks Jamin Appleford for the hide and for bringing us here.

A long-awaited trip with fitzy_1965 to Wangaratta for the 2021/2022 Mega!

We headed off early from Goulburn today and arrived in Wangaratta just before midday. We only made a couple of stops along the way as our priority was to get set up then cache for the afternoon with our caching friends. Once set up we headed out with albida33, nibletricecakes, GLISS! and smittengranny collectively known as MiNiFiGAS. Our aim for the afternoon was the Ned Kelly Helmet and any other caches along the way before heading back to Wangaratta for dinner. Was a great light and sound show this evening, even got up close and personal with some of the rain in our tent. Let’s hope this doesn’t continue!

In town for the Mega. Today our target was scattered caches throughout the town and attend events and catch up with a few people we hadn't seen for a while owing to Covid. Made this find on a warm, humid day surrounded by squadrons of mozzies Good company, many laughs had and memories made.

Our morniing started with the Trombone eveny.
Followed by a number of ALs. The afternoon was a walk along the river edge finding the multis & traditionals

Now there was a sneaky little hide that slowed us down somewhat! However it was David that spotted a little sign indicating where the cache was hidden.

An after dinner ice-cream run to you-know-where was the price I had to pay to coax the family out for some after dinner caching.
Came out for a drive over this side of town just to see where the Mega was going to be held and this cache was close by. Took a little bit of close searching but managed to find it between muggles asking us if we needed help with anything haha!
