Cache check.Thank you Ms KR for adding RITR log sheet. All good for some time to come.
Walked the track anticlockwise because I figured we'd have lunch later with a view of the lake. No view but we did have lunch. Gave this one some new paper. On the trail, I particularly liked the ferns, the fungi, the birds, the trees, and the caches. And lunch. Thank you bumandworker
A nice quick find. Thanks for placing your cache. Ms_KR and I are off on cruise up to Nelson and Picton. Today we cruised around the back country near Murchison. The walk into the Braeburn waterfall is lovely and a reccommended wander! An overcast and cool start to the day, followed by a few showers later on. Occassionally signed MK+KR on cache logs, and apologies for the generic logs. Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches.
Here I am with the snail shell parked up in Murchison ready to locate and sign off some of the latest caches and then later some not so new.I am on my way back to the cachemobile by completing the loop.Cheers for the cache, bumandworker.
Found with Dali87 within our famous trip around New Zealand. Thanks for nice cache ....................................................................... TB Koumesovo geopivo DDEV7M
Was all around the rimu but did not find it.But I think the cache is still there.
Out on a caching expedition. I was expecting to get wet but thankfully the Met Service got it wrong.
This is a top notch bush walk. The trees are magnificent and the bellbirds were full of song.
A stunning specimen. My photos won’t have done it justice. The log all dry.

Wasn't too sure what a Rimu tree looked like but cache info & GPS sorted that. TFTC
A lovely sunny day to be out walking and listening to the dream gurgling away as you walk
Lovely walk on the Braeburn Track today. Had the whole place to myself. A quick find and sign. Thanks for the cache.
I was pre-writing a log for the last cx in my head and walked right past GZ. Once I looked at the old GPSr, I quickly backtracked 60m. TFTC.
This is another beautiful loop walk! A lot of fern (love it!) and it smells so nice after the recent rain. Quick find here after a DNF near the waterfall.
Taybeedragon and I have been to Nelson a number of times lately, and frankly, getting bored with it, despite that there are a gazillion finds to to find there. So we headed to St Arnaud instread, starting with Lake Rotoroa.
Yep, the track on the map is wildly wrong - I suspected it might be when I saw that two caches were beyond the track. So I have been plotting this line and will remap the track when I get back to work on Monday. In the meantime - the cache is nice and dry, gets a path tag. Nice creek, so took a photo (attached). Still cold though...

Another stop along this lovely beech forest walkway at Lake Rotoroa. Left our calling card here. Cheers
The Seagnoid, Toby and I are out exploring again today with Tasman Lakes on the Radar.Left home at -2 deg frost to get to Lake Rotoroa at a balmy 2 deg and slowly got warmer as the day progressed. It stayed cool but fine. Enjoyed walking around a couple of native bush tracks. Another great day.

Visiting the South Island as the grown up kids are on Uni holidays. Heading up to Nelson today collecting some caches on the way. Wonderful sunny day although cold and frosty to start with. Quick detour to Lake Rotoroa and a walk to Braeburn waterfall. All the geocaches were close to the path despite the marked track on the geocaching app. Found all the caches bar one so may have to return sometime. Thanks
No flying day again at the Hang Gliding nationals, so decided to go for a walk. GPS was a bit out, and nearly took the title too literally. Reading helped! TFTC.
On a Sunday drive and walk or is that just a different way of saying I went caching today. First time I have walk this trail. I would recommend it to everyone just a very lovely little walk in the bush. TFTC
Another quick find on this enjoyable walk.
TFTC Bum.
Jo had Monday off, so we decided a trip somewhere was in order. St Arnaud or Nelson? We decided on the former and in retrospect were glad we did. The weather in Blenheim was average, but it was not bad up here although we were prepared for the worst.
The target area was Gowan river, the top of Lake Rotorua, Braeburn walk and track and a short walk in St Arnaud on the way home.
A good mix of PnGs and walking ones, 40 or so for the day. Thanks everyone.

Spent a few Days traveling through the Nelson Lakes National Park and today was time for the area around Lake Rotoroa. Had fun hiking the 4WD Track and the Braeburn Walk.
That is really a cool nature walk and especially those unusual Tree formations!
Thanks for hiding and caring!

Continuing our mini tiki tour of the area today we were heading to the lake for our last night perfect chance to grab these
After spending an awesome day swimming and kayaking it was time for an evening stroll. After the GPS had a bit of a malfunction we got there in the end

Quick find, as it was visible from the track. I put a bit more camo on it, gmpdjtjjw without burying it completely
I was looking for somewhere to go with my nearly eighty three year old dad. I have looked at this track many times but have never made the effort or time to come and have a look at it. Well today sorted that out.
It was drizzling at home when we were ready to go, so we packed the rain coats and a picnic lunch and away we went.
We decided to have lunch at the lake foreshore. Thank goodness we have insect repellent in each of our vehicles as we sure as anything needed it today. The sandflies were thick and hungry. I am not really sure how many sandflies we ate, but I am sure a few got consumed. Another car of young ladies arrived and I tried to tell the sandflies that they would be much tastier than us and that they should all fly over there and have a feast - they didn't listen.
After lunch we headed along to the start of the track. I am very pleased to say there were no sandflies to be seen or felt. There was one other car near the start of the track but we did not see the people. Maybe they were on the other part of the loop as we were heading up they may have been heading down.
The weather was overcast but there was no rain or even drizzle while we were out walking.
This is such a pretty bush walk, I loved all the different greens of the trees and ferns.
My dad took a bit of a tumble coming towards this cache, he slipped on a wet tree root, luckily nothing injured, just his pride. So it was good to have a stop here and let him dust himself off.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smilie

The GPS had us searching the wrong area at first and we were having a good old wander around. Andy eventually widened the search and we made the find. Our GPS here was 40 odd meters out but the next one was 200 odd out so we had to do a reset. If we had done that here we might have found the cache faster. tftc
On a week's walking and caching holiday with trifolia argentea we aimed for 100 caches. Thanks to all cache owners.
We broke our drive to ST Arnaud with a very pleasant walk with lots of caches in great surroundings. TFTC
Back on the loop track and soon arrived at G Z, a nicely spaced series of caches out here. Spotted the Rimu, and his supporter, cache all good and replaced as found. T F T C b&w
This weekends intentions were discussed earlier in the week mrs capperz was heard to say that she wanted to go on a trip to the lake. As I've already found most of the caches out Rotoiti way I assumed she meant Lake Rotoroa and promptly grabbed a P Q and started a few planned forays into that local area. As it was we had a great day out with a frosty start, snow-capped vistas and double figure cache finds so a successful day all round. We walked the lovely Braeburn walk loop to the waterfall, I found my last 2 on Rotoroa lake edge and grabbed a couple of ducks, along with a Tiramisu (Tireaumea duo). Hot chips for lunch and lashings of flat white from St Arnaud.

Our first geocaching trip to the Braeburn area and what a choice of caches. A driving tour which you can do in a normal car and a fantastic walk to a waterfall. We. Do not have the equipment for the 4x4 track today.
We decided to do the driving tour first and then finish with the waterfall walk. We loved this nice short trail to a waterfall we didn't know existed. For this we were following recent visits by Paddle Chick so no digging out was necessary.
Even the big fellas need a hug so nice to see this massive Remu getting a cuddle. TFTC.

Nice easy find, I sometimes despair on walks in the bush where the gps insists on taking me to visit every tree in sight except the right one, today it's been a dream and taken me right there each time. Lovely walk in here. TFTC

Found with NZDi. When NZDi asked what geocaching plans I had made for the weekend last night, I admitted I hadn't made any because the weather looked like it was going to be s#!t. She said it can't be s#!t everywhere, so I started looking at the weather forecast. Nelson looked pretty good, but we have been across there about three times in the past two months so that didn't hold any attraction. So I checked out the Nelson Lakes and they looked pretty good also, and as they are one of my favourite places in the Top of the South, I started working on a plan for the day.
The plan was to do the Lake Rotoroa side of the Porika Track as we had done the Howard Valley side late last year, then do the Braeburn Loop Track, then a few unfound between Lake Rotoroa and St Arnaud and finally check on some previous DNF's on the road between the Lake and Blenheim. Altogether we had a successful day with all targets met, 32 finds, no DNF's and a bonus FTF. The only hiccup of the day was logging the caches up to half way around the Braeburn Loop Track as the 16th of October, in stead of the 15th, an honest mistake and one which I wasn't the only person to make today.
After achieving our target on the Porika Track and having lunch (in the car) at the lake front, we came here to complete the waterfall loop walk. The sign at the lake front said this takes three hours, but the sign at the track start says one and a half hours. We did it in one hour forty minutes while caching along the way.
After getting the cache up by the waterfall we returned to the main loop and continued on. Once again c:geo took us past the obvious place to hide this cache, then changed its mind while we were looking elsewhere. Getting used to the peculiarities of this app when caching in the bush, I wasn't seriously looking for the cache where it indicated, but was waiting for it to settle down. I wasn't disappointed and was soon heading back to where my instincts said I should have looked in the first place.

The local wild life needed to be put in its place. I needed to replace and seriously secure a cache and took the opportunity to walk the track once more and pick up a smilie that popped up after our last visit. We'll never tire of this place and happily do it anytime. Thank you bumandworker
This was a short detour on our trip SW today plus Hazedarus needed to replace a missing cache in the area. It's never a hardship to walk this track and today was as enjoyable as always.
Thank you bumandworker.
Thank you bumandworker.
This part of the track was absolutely stunning today. I had to keep stopping just to soak it in. It almost felt like walking page by page through a Craig Potton calendar - unbelievable really. Sidewaze approached from one side and I the other - she was spot on. TFTC #9158
There were absolutely stunning vistas of the stream from the track today, water glistening on leaves adding to it - - - the plus side of walking through drizzle. I'm so pleased we did the track in a clockwise direction as I imagine you always get a better view when looking upstream. I loved the hint a) because it made me think a little and b) because it lead to an instant find. TFTC .
Wow, how time flies! Over three years since I found the older caches on this walk. Today was a great day to be back. Although it was raining in Nelson when we left - Number 1 son and I - the forecast for the Nelson Lakes area wasn't too bad and it turned out to be OK. Cloudy, cool but no wind or rain, so perfect walking weather. After we had checked out the waterfall, this was a quick find on our way back out. TFTC, Biggles.
A bonus FTF. We are sure we didn't get a notification for this cache but it showed up on a refresh of the GSAK database done in preparation for a trip to the area.
It is the first track walk for a while that Mrs SoBad left the pack in the car and had only a pen, GPS and phone. The phone was useful as a camera as the creek near here was looking very attractive with the clear blue sky. The GPS of course helped find the cache. The pen was useful - not just to sign the log but to put the cache details at the top of the log. It was a team walk and that was useful as Mrs had spotted a likely spot - but then SoBad spotted a more likely spot that was much easier to access.
Thanks for the bonus extra on the loop today.
