With only a small amount of caching time left on the last full day of my South Island holiday, I decided to see if I could find a few more Marlborough rail caches. I parked in the tolerable spot and made the short walk to the cache site where I soon saw what I expected to see. I was just putting things back together when I couple of young ladies passed on a small farm vehicle. They gave me what seemed to be knowing smiles so I assume they reside in the brick house.
One of the last caches to find before we get the ferry in the morning and head back to reality. Tftccacge all good here tftc
I found this cache on the way back from Swampy. I wonder why I never stopped to get this cache on other trips. TFTC.
I was on my way in to Blenheim locating and signing off a few caches on the way.I think I have been here before but many moons ago and was unsuccessful. Not today.Cheers for the cache, the Seagnoid.
**19,965**Another quick find here once Mr Geckoh was at GZ. Unfortunately the cache lid has been jammed on at some stage and then someone has broken it off or possibly a digger has knocked the lid off. Fortunately contents all dry still, but will need attention at some stage. Replaced as found. TFTC
Decided to head up to Picton for some caching. Have enjoyed this series. Had to read the previous log and do exactly what they did to find the cache. Fortunately there was a small fence post nearby. Worked a treat. Cache and log all fine. Thanks for the smiley
Ducked down a side road to grab this cache. Hadn't read the previous logs so didn't realise it had had a couple of dnf's. Searched for a while but grass and other stuff was quite long. With no luck, I grabbed the leki sticks from the car and we started stabbing the ground around the GZ. Andy eventually got a thunk and pulled the grass aside to uncover the traditional hide for this series of caches. All good inside and retrieved the TB after signing the log. tftc

Nice easy find, now I know what I'm looking for! TFT interesting historical C!
Easy find here as a detour on the way to pick up ferry passengers. Thankfully the previous finder had put the logbook in the nice way so it was easy to get out. I dislike people that don't take the time to put the logbook in open side first, so it comes out spine first for the next finder. TB and tag drop too.
Interesting history, surprised there's not a shrewd of evidence left of the platform. Tftc!
This one took me a while, which surprised me, as I thought I knew exactly what I was looking for. It turns out I was right, it was just very well hidden by the overgrown undergrowth. I really enjoy the rail series; I've dropped a travel bug for the next avid finder.
Thank you for the cache.
Thank you for the cache.
Found after a circuit around Pt Underwood for a few caches along the coast. It took longer than expected and we didn't get lunch til 3pm which is a mistake when geocaching as your brain fades! TFTC Seagnoid
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to visit!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on wet or plastic logs)
*Another good cache located - now onto the next one!*
Last day of our 3 week geocaching trip in the South Island, picked this one up on the way to the ferry.

Found with @peadub while on our way to Cape Campbell Lighthouse for the long weekend. Another good one in the railway series. Signed log and replaced where found. TFTC.
(# 6246). Last day of my South Island odyssey and it is very windy around Blenheim. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 3 of our 4 day weekend in and around Blenheim. Today we are heading to Picton, hoping that the predicted rain wouldn't eventuate. It didn't (apart from a few spots of rain) until we drove back to Blenheim late afternoon.
We tried to remember the last time we have driven this section of road, but our memories failed us. Probably en route to the Picton Ferry. Lots of new caches have popped up since whenever, so we were keen to turn them into smiles. GZ looked a bit daunting with the long wet grass, and with the DNF logged, but it turned out to be a quick find. TFTC.

#18593. We also had long, wet grass to contend with but (as usual) did have suitable attire for wet grass conditions. Quick find of the familiar outer container. TFTC.
We decided to head to Picton for lunch today and hoped to grab a few caches along the way. As it was not a dedicated cache trip, we were not appropriately dressed for scrambling about in the damp long grass, so even though I was with a previous finder, this one proved to be elusive.
Maybe another time.

#7798. Day 3 of my short holiday in Marlborough. I have a work meeting this week in Blenheim so I flew down early and rented a car to allow me to find the Marlborough TMGT caches and few other caches in the back of beyond. Today the mission was to do some caches in the Blenheim and Picton areas. I headed off down to the Wairau Bar first up to get the TMGT cache and now heading north to Picton. Its a lovely fine sunny day. Breezy but stinking hot. The car reached 34 degrees in the afternoon.
Heading up SH1 and picking up caches as I go. Short diversion here off the main highway. I parked near the cache and had not got out of the car when a local pulled up beside me to ask if everything was OK. So explained about geocaching and a series about old railway stations. They of course had never heard of geocaching but were aware there had been a station here in the past. So left me to it and soon after I located the cache. Signed the logbook and returned the cache where found. Thanks the Seagnoid for setting this one up.

The timing here was awesome! On arrival to gz, a train went past, and then a saw a plane landing! How cool is that! TFTC!!
Tftc this was the third railway cache we tried it was much easier because not so much stelf involved
A short getaway to catch up with family on the Mainland and drive some roads not travelled before.
We spent a few nights in Picton and picked up some caches.
A bit overgrown and a wasb nest over the fence, Trust the GPS and look low.

A little overgrown here, all I have to say is the coords are spot on so trust those. Not sure how I have missed this on previous visits.
A couple of afternoon caches tonight. Jo was free and keen so we headed out toward Picton to look for a couple that have caused me problems in the past. No problems tonight, the signature hides were eventually found and we were on our way. TFTC tS.

Quick find this morning with eltee291, crman1 and coastal martinis! Getting used to this very cool type of hide. Beautiful family of deer at the house/farm nearby. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache, the Seagnoid!
Found today with hingis20, crman1, and coastalmartinis. There was an absolutely awesome buck guarding his harem in the field. Have come frome Victoria, BC, Canada to visit with my daughter and her family in Blenheim and, of course take in some of the great geocaching here. Really great to be enjoying summer in January. Dropped off a TB. TFTC
We could not find this when we drove north, but after finding some other of the series we knew what to look for. And it helped that it was not as wet as on boxing day. TFTC
Found on our return journey north to Papamoa. No problem with the find and amazed at the points on the antlers of a nearby deer TFTC.
Awesome cache, took a while to find , overgrown. Well worth the hut and history of area.
Knowing what to look for, this was another easy find

I hadn't clicked as to what I should have been looking for, so didn't quite look hard enough. I've learnt my lesson. Cheers
Found really loving this run and has put a smile on my face at each one, thanks for the taking the time on a well thought out cache. gets a fav from us
I had an opportunity to go to the South Island and take a week off work and do some caching while Mrs Yeetrees had to go to the ANZEG Conference 2018 which was being held in Nelson.
Day 8: Blenheim to Picton. Today was the last day that we had in the South Island on this trip and we need to drive from Blenheim to Picton to catch the Ferry back home, we needed to be at Picton by at 1 pm. We decided that we would pick up a few caches along the way if the opportunity arose.
After finding GC74VPR - Deca-century Challenge cache (Marlborough), this was the next cache that I had on my list that I wanted to find today. We decided that it was time to start heading for Picton now as time was getting on and we really didnt want to be late for the ferry. As we neared the GZ, Mrs Yeetrees managed to find a safe parking spot not too far from GZ, from there it was a very easy walk to GZ.
Arriving at GZ with my invisibility cloak on (HiVis), no one paid any attention as to what I was doing. Once at GZ, I checked to make sure the area was clear and then I had a quick look at the hint and soon spotted something and soon realised that it was the cache.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks the Seagnoid for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13678) . A great spot for a cache, thank goodness that it was a Saturday and there were many muggles around. Was definitely making it closer to Picton.

Out with Grandson gathering a few local caches. Really impresive the containers used in this series. Thanks for the effort in your placements. SL. TFTC.
We were wondering what we were going to do to qualify for the latest hidden creatures challenge. We have been streaking for a couple of years so our supply of caches around Nelson are starting to thin out. We decided to come over to Marlborough for the weekend to make up the numbers we needed. We had noticed there were many park and grab type caches in this area so this is where we decided to target.
We do enjoy these rail caches, for three main reasons, firstly we enjoy reading the history and learning more about the areas, second reason is that they are nice and easy to find and thirdly they are big enough to hold some treasures for the kids and the big kids.
I asked GK if he would go back to the car and get a TB to drop off here - he came back with one that we had found at a recent event in Nelson - it has the same owner as this cache. Oh well maybe someone will find it and take it on a further journey than we have.
Thanks for another interesting cache and for the smilie

I was very pleased that I knew what I was looking for as the weather had packed up somewhat. Another informative rail cache. TFTC
On a cache raid to Picton so decided to stop for most of the caches on the way. My maternal grandfather lived not far from here 100 years ago. Actually, I passed his old house getting to this cache. Had to probe around a bit to locate the cache under the long grass. The cache is in good condition, as to be expected given its construction. TFTC
Being a relief teacher with a campervan and a supportive family, I decided it was time to make use of the school holidays. I stayed the night at the Top 10. After this mornings biking and late lunch,, I decided to park and grab.

A quick easy find, although it's getting to be covered by the grass. The usual interesting information about this little settlement. TFTC
This one was a little bit overgrown, but with good coordinates it was soon located and signed up. More interesting and well researched information about the railway. TFTC
We were on our annual family reunion/holiday to Momirangi Bay for 10days and Mum and I took a day to head into Blenheim to go geocaching. My purple pen had gone walkabouts at camp which I was abit miffed about (but everyone was looking for it before we left, so I couldnt be too upset) The day started off hot and muggy and got up to 27° but then turned into rain late afternoon so we called it a day and headed back to camp only for it to alot get worse. A great day with 22 finds and when we arrived back at camp my 7yr old niece had brought me a new purple pen.
A easy find but a car came around the corner while I was signing the logbook, I tried to hide it behind Mum but he saw as he turned around the corner and gave us a smile and wave as he continued on to the white house – I guess he knows whats going on here now. Thanks for placing the cache and adding to our smiles

I was going to stop here last time but there was a tractor with a couple of muggles on the other side of the track. My car stands out like a sore toe when my bright yellow kayak is on the roof as it was that day so decided it was better just to keep driving. No kayak or muggles this time and Nanzie and I had it in no time at all. This completes the Marlborough Rail series for me at this stage although I wouldn't mind betting the CO knows of one or two stations especially south as the road south becomes more accessible. Thanks for an enjoyable series the Seagnoid

A nice quick find, Cheers.
Today was a day spent cruising around Blenheim, waiting for the late ferry to leave. I was so hot today, >30 degrees. The aircon in the car was working overtime.
Thanks to all of the COs for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

It is another Dot Day and I need to find a cache. I had and errand to run in town, so took a little (Ok it was quite a big one) detour to get this final cache in the Marlborough rail series.
At GZ c:geo zeroed in on a place that while likely, did not exhibit the usual pattern of most of the caches in this series. While hunting around for the familiar tell-tale sign of a Marlborough rail cache, the needle and distance suddenly jumped to a new location 20 metres away. Following the new directions, took me to the very famialar cache and it was retrieved, signed and replaced as found.
As this is the final of the series, I'll award a FP, not only for the series, but also for the assistance they gave in helping to fill in my calendar... only 45 to go.

Heading from Nelson to Picton this morning and I had enough time to stop for a few unfound caches. This series appealed to me as I used to travel often between Picton and Blenheim by steam train when I was growing uo and we lived in Picton. Familiar territory! This one took me a few minutes to find, the GPSr was leading me to the bridge and it wasn't until I stood back and looked around that I spotted it. Signed log, thanks for the cache and for the informative series!
Now that we know this series, another quick find for us whilst out and about today tftc
When we got to GZ we could see why there were parking coordinates - it was a much better spot to leave the car. As we were well into the series, the find was no problem. We didn't see signs of life in either house - but a car drove down the road and over the tracks as we were about the return the cache. The driver showed no interest in why we were at such an unlikely spot - so maybe the word has spread.
Thanks.
Thanks.
What an amazing record you are making of all the points of interest along the railway line. I'm sure lots of people who are not into caching would be interested in reading the information and visiting the places. Thanks for all the effort you have put into this series. Awesome !
TFTC! Over Picton way for a bit of caching. Nice one. Good to be off the main road for a bit.
I took some time out from work today and headed over the hills to Marlborough to go and find a few caches - trads, multis, puzzles - it was a good day to be out and the weather was perfect. I've been watching this series progress across the landscape from afar. Today was my first chance to try and find some of them. This was the first one. It took a little while to work out what was the cache. Very clever and a nice effort in cache construction. I'll give this one a FP as its the first one I found. TFTC, Biggles.
With the mother in law having flown North for the winter it was safe to head back to Blenheim and find a few of the newly placed caches. Lot's of drive-bys today but managed to get in a short walk or two as well. A quick find here.
Out on a mission over the hill with bumandworker today.
We weren't planning on venturing this far up the valley today but a puzzle hide further south had a muggle at it.
A quick find here as B&W recounted his story night caching here while the crop in the adjacent field was being harvested under lights.
Returned to the puzzle hide afterwards but alas the muggle was still there.

With the series coming into its own it was time to find the caches that belonged to the ever increasing amount of information about the history of Marlborough rail. A cycling event stretching from Blenheim to beyond the Awatere turn off had us treading carefully to make sure some caches of the nine we found today were not compromised. Thank you the Seagnoid
It was time to head over the hill again to turn some more icons in to yellow smilies so armed with a list of likely candidates we set forth.
Having found those of the series south of Blenheim as far as "Dumgree" we headed north for a bit before turning for home.
A local farmer seemed to be 'trying out' his new tractor but thankfully he headed in the opposite direction to us so we had an unimpeded find.
Thank you the Seagnoid.

Cache #8 on our Blenheim to Picton journey this morning. This was our first railway cache, and I initially overlooked an important item, then wandered around for a bit before returning to investigate further. Excellent idea. Tftc
It's a 2 day today and I reckon, according to my calculations, that I can afford to sacrifice some of my local caches to help my numbers from 1 days to more than 1 days, and still have a couple spare to increase my 2 days. So, in other words, I allow myself a cache find as a treat. Initially I headed out for this one on Saturday morning before work but the road end was blocked off due to flooding and no traffic allowed, but after work today all was good and I was able to sidle in and make the find. Have got the hang of these caches now and was able to find without the G P S once I was close.
Nice series, keep em coming t S!
