The day was forecast to be one of those rare pleasant days in winter... so I took the opportunity to drive down to South Gippsland Shire and Baw Baw Shire to hunt out a few caches... the things you do when you take on *LGA Challenges*...

With the afternoon starting to creep away, it was time to start heading north... and several stops to find caches around Strzelecki... including a stop for this cache.

Thanks **ms-enchantress** for keeping this cache going.

Parked safely at the entrance and was a little hesitant as it looked like a property driveway.
Gps had GZ down a little so we walked down. Quickly found the cache and signed the log.
Walked a little further to enjoy the view. Excellent.
What a great out of the way spot.
Thanks for maintaining these caches de ja vu

Another great year of geocaching was concluding, heralded not only by the usual fireworks scheduled for midnight, but also surefoot24's NYE event at a far earlier hour of the day!
The weather was heating right up, but with the Astra's aircon blasting and a Maxibon consumed just before the event kicked off, there was nothing buhfuhguh and I couldn't handle with a nice collection of caches in the surrounding region found prior to arriving in Nyora.

This cache was pretty trouble-free for us, which was very nice indeed!
The obvious structure was identified and I popped my head under to find the container nice and dry and tucked away.

Thanks to de ja vu for placing it here! Smile

Out and about today with Brainiac03 for another day of caching and another event and final event for the year. We'll another year ends a new one begins.

With this little cluster around to be the main focus for the pair of us today we proceeded all in all with no real stress or drama.

Thanks for the caches, the laughs and the adventures

We parked in what seemed like a good spot and then headed further up the road only to walk in and find this great little spot. Looks like a house has been here at some time in the past.
We were able to walk straight up and find the cache, and then completed the circuit back to the car.
Took Travel Bug.

It has been a while since we have neen able to get out caching. What with Covid lockdowns, then Mrs SKI breaking her ankle, and Rebel being out of action we have had quite a gap.
But today everything came together. The weather was lovely and everyone was available to head out.
We had noticed a number of new caches had popped up in the Leongatha area, so that added to a few high D/T rated caches in the area was enough to have us heading in that direction.
A successful day was had with only one DNF and as usual plenty of laughs and banter.
All logs either signed as SKI Pair or RASP (Rebel Acts & SKI Pair)

Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cachede ja vu.

This was my first weekend in Melbourne for months, owing to some birthday and other engagements. Saturday was free however so I teamed up with OzHockeyChick to go exploring for the day.

Found this one quickly on the little loop road. A beautiful view of the valleys from here - well worth a look.

Thanks de ja vu for the cache.

With the restrictions eased and after being stuck at home since march I decided to arm Myself with plenty of gloves and a litre of hand sanitizer and head out in to the country side to do some caching, I was joined by my caching mate Omegaman 1971 we did a big loop from Warragul through PooWong around to Nyora and then back over the Korumburra Road to Warragul, some magic country side and views in this area to enjoy on what was a nice sunny day. This took longer than it should, funny how its there but you cant see it for looking.

Thanks de ja vu for the cache.

It was great to be back out hunting caches in the sun with my caching buddy Rebel Acts.
I'm happy he knows this area because I was absolutely lost.
The most important tool we had this weekend was the large bottle of hand sanitiser which was used before and after every find.
Had such a great time catching up with Rebel and getting back into the swing of caching.
Was just about to call it when Rebel spotted the treasure.
Cheers for the cache.

Out for caching day around Poowong and surrounds with a friend. A lot on interesting stuff here - beautiful houses, farms and awesome views. Saw cattle, sheep, llamas, fox, and more. Also saw a dead snake. I received interesting information about ragwort, stone fruit and fox. I had a great time finding your cache de ja vu, thank you so much for placing it.

While my wife ran the Hallora marathon, 999HK and myself thought we would collect a number of caches in the area. We knew it would take her some time to run the 42 km from Hallora to Drouin, to Warragul, then back to Drouin and back to Warrigul where we would cheer her over the finish line. Got to be happy with 22 Smileys and 0 DNFs.

Nice quick find in obvious place. The log is wet. It wasn't until reading the cache page now, that we know of a path to the top of the hill. Certainly do see any such trail at the time.

Thanks for the cache de ja vu

Catching up with some very late logs

We had set aside a few days to explore Gippsland with alansee endeavoring to aid him reaching 30,000 finds before the Queanbeyan mega event at Easter.

We visited rail trails, parks, mountains seeing beautiful scenery along the way as well as enjoying some lovely walks as well as some easy drive by's. The weather was mostly kind to us enabling us to search for the caches in comfort.

Indeed the cache was an easy find and our names were added to the log not long after stopping the car. We were grateful that we didn't have to venture into the long grass as it had been raining earlier and we could have ended up very wet.

Thanks de ja vu for the cache.

With a mild day forecast we decided it would be a nice day for a drive.

The kids wanted the beach, but I wanted a nice country drive.

So a compromize was hatched, we would drive from home to Warragul, then south to Korumburra and then further southish to Venus Bay so the kids could have a play on the beach.

We decided though as it was a little warm that we would avoid any cache in long grass and we ended up only doing four for the day.

This was the final of these.

Thanks for placing a cache here de ja vu. It certainly is an interesting little spot, that you would easily miss just driving by.

Today was a full day of work meetings in Korumburra. After that was all done I took advantage of the long summer evening to find a few caches around the place and on my way back to my hotel in Warragul. Shame that this has become a bit overgrown and neglected. Took me longer than it should have done to get my hands on this cache but it was OK in the end. TFTC, Biggles.

This was the last one of 14 caches that was found today whilst out caching with Benjay2. We had one DNF.

I had a de ja vu (Pun Intended) moment here, as I remembered doing a cache at this wayside stop a few years back.

In Melbourne with Cravo10 to attend the Mega in Alexandra.

We took the red eye from Perth, leaving at 1am Thursday morning, and departed Melbourne early Tuesday morning, so it was a short five day trip.

We managed to snag a couple of nice stats for the trip. First mega event, 12 cache types in a day, 10 lab caches, 50th large cache find, and most importantly my 10,000th find at Mount Disappointment.

We spent the first day on a caching run from
Melbourne to Phillip Island where we had booked into the local caravan park for the evening. We cached all day chasing down a number of the whereigo and puzzle caches from the CF series, before ending the day caching the extremities of Phillip Island, where we had both never been, an amazing part of this country.

Next morning we cached our way to Alexandra which was the main reason for our trip to Melbourne as we had both never managed to attend a mega, which were hoping to rectify in WA next year! Attended the pre event and managed to get a couple of group FTFs by torchlight which was a real highlight.

Saturday we cached in and around Alexandra all day, chasing numbers, the highlight of the day would have to be the birdbox hides around Alexandra and the multi in Bonnie Doon from that famous TV show, a real nice touch!

Sunday was an epic caching day, chasing down 12 types in a day, which required a couple of huge drives to claim some of the rarer icons around. A huge caching stat which is a very rare feat in the Southern Hemisphere. We finished the day travelling to Mount disappointment where we found Melbourne's 1st cache and then started making a dent in the powertrail, finishing by torchlight.

Our last full days caching was spent at Mount Disappointment to chase some big numbers and with a few caches around the burbs for good measure.

Special thanks to all the wonderful COs around Melbourne for their brilliant caches, and to the mega committee for organising a ripper event, hope to be back next year!

17-Nov-17
On a 6 day tour of Victoria with Barnzy12. Taking the red eye over from Perth we managed to visit some great places. The main reason for the travel was the Mega event in Alexandra and the opportunity to find 12 cache types in a day.

We originally travelled to Phillip bay, then up through the country side to Alexandra. Spent a few nights staying high in the snowfields and then moved over to Mt Disappointment. We then ended up back where we started returning the hire car at the airport to fly home.

Some quality caches were found all over the state, great to get a real range of cache sizes with some very large caches compared to what’s available in WA and the range of D/T options so close to each other was a bonus.

Thanks to all the Cache owners for you placements and creativity put into hiding and have awarded a few fav points based on this or the location it bought us too.

Out and about showing a muggle the ropes targeting a few caches close to home. Thought it might be a good time to finally put a smiley in this spot. A quick look around and the cache was spotted by the MUGGLE!!!
