TFTC JENPETEH, The H,s , South Africans living in Tassie GeoCaching our way around Australia and loving it Had to dig a bit deeper
We are from Switzerland...We do houssitting all over the world and this time we are back in Tasmania the second time ...We traveled around here 14 years ago...its nice to be back and this time even better with geocaching ..Today Nggi2 and I went out to make out of green ones yellow Smilies on this PTPT track. But we were not able to achieve our goal ,because many caches are missing..and the ones we found we had to search very long or we had to dig them out. We did 15750 steps in 5 hours and ended up with 5 DNF`s and luckily 10 Smilies ...and one write note because that cache needs a higher T ..so we tried a few metres up through the scrubs and gave in.But we enjoyed manly this lovely nature track the tiny thwarfland and the scenery and the fern trees . yea the big fat trees fascinated me very much special theyr roots and hight. We also spoted four Wallabys .Thank you for placing this Dsli (Dsli means little box in Swiss)oinkoinkJust to say to the cache owners of this PTPT track ..it is only fun when the caches are beeing looked after..even when there are no DNFs.. I`m a cache owner in Switzerland and I check my Caches all the time special after rainy days ...and in the forest as wild animals pinch them too sometimes. But thank you to the Cache owners that do look after theyr caches to keep the PTPT trail alive.Oh oh very deep hidden...and soaking wet unwriteable !!!!!
Heute bei schnstem Wetter im khlen Wald einige Caches der PTPT Wanderung gemacht. Die einen schnell, die andern etwas lnger gesucht und einige gar nicht gefunden. Besten Dank frs legen und pflegen.
Almost a year since we found our first cache, we returned to the place where we found it - the Pipeline track, to try and find some more along this amazing trail. After turning off to our planned parking area too early and driving partway up the mountain, then turning back and going past it, we started walking on the Fern Glade track, where we found one cache at about 1pm. From there we walked to the Pipeline track where we found ten, and then detoured to the silver falls track on the way back to the car, where we found one. Twelve finds in total, our sixth for the day was also our 600th cache.
Thanks for the cache stainless-steel-rat!

A very friendly find... most swift indeed The log was extracted and signed at 11:39 on TGIF 20 August 2021.
The log within is dry
{I plan to do the rest of this trail but a Deadly-Treadly will be the go here. Can't take about 4 hours when it can be done in about 90 minutes on a bicycle [^]... can't wait for the right day weather-wise }

This was the last cache hunted and found on my epic day out chasing the tharks ridge for a d/t combination i didn't have.
It seems only fitting to end my caching day with a cache by the same co.
It wasn't long before dark at this point, and i was getting hungry and eager to be back in the city, so stopped looking for any others after this one, a happy coincidence to bookend the day with.
Thanks stainless steel rat for adding to the pipeline series and your contribution to caches on the mountain!
Sorry for the late log, ......*shrugs*

Quick little find exploring the pipeline track. Best way to spend an Easter Sunday. Thanks for the caches to keep me busy!!
Today was a beautiful day so thought we would collect some caches with the geokids along the pipeline track between Neika and Fern Tree. This was a straightforward find by one of the geokids. TFTC
Today, following an afternoon birthday celebration, we found ourselves with a spare hour or two up our sleeves - the perfect opportunity for a spot of light caching! We were looking for somewhere not too far from home to go for an easy stroll, and realised we had a gap of a few un-found caches in the Pipeline Track Power Trail that needed plugging, which sounded like the perfect option.
This ended up being our last cache of the evening, and also (oddly enough) our hardest find. Immediately upon the GPSr counting down to near zero, we spotted what seemed like a likely hiding spot. However, upon removing some obvious-looking camouflage, we found no cache hidden within. Scouting around the host object revealed a few other potential hiding spots, but still no cache. With the light beginning to fade we resorted to the hint, only to find that we had indeed been looking in the right spot all along. This left us a bit mystified - we were beginning to worry the cache had been muggled, but the most recent find was barely a month previously and it didn't seem to be a particularly muggle-prone hiding spot.
As such, we commenced a more thorough search of the object in question. Eventually, we discovered that quite a build up of plant debris had occurred, and the cache was actually hidden beneath a good 20 to 30 cm of dirt and rotting wood - we're just lucky we tried digging a bit deeper that we otherwise thought we should have had to.
Despite the slightly tricky find, we still love the spot (like all the rest of the trail), so thanks for placing the cache!

Got to the GZ and was worried to follow through with the hint since something felt squishy. I grew a set and found the cache. Cache 9 for my 20/11/19 Pipeline Track caching session, TFTC!
My cache blindness returned while here. Twice I looked and twice I didn't see. Then TaurusSix looked and spotted it.
Coming down to Hobart to visit the newly relocated Hancock Clan, we needed to decide on a good target for the day. The Dragon’s Lair looked right up out alley, so we walked the majority of the powertrail to reach it. A few DNFs along the way, but a great place for a power trail.
The gps signal was highly dodgy in places, so the hints came in very handy indeed!
Please excuse the generic logs.

An enjoyable day out caching with Delloro who was staying with us for the weekend. The target for the day was The Dragon's Lair and it was a nice bonus to have this trail of caches to find en route! TFTC!
Cheers,

My handheld GPS showed 39m at GZ, while my iPhone showed 3m. Go figure.
Nice later afternoon walk.
Thanks.

Tassie Trip Day 107 - Today was a good day for a ride on the bike and after deciding to do the Pipeline Track it was finding a place to park and found somewere that was ok but not the correct spot but alas I went on my way and the track was started.
Wow another great stop along the way, this took a little longer to find however those all important hints really help and a invaluable along this track.
Thanks stainless-steel-rat for bring us here and adding to this wonderful power trail in what is a lovely area to ride a bike and enjoy the track.

Thought I would pop out and grab some caches I've been saving for a 'rainy day' today isnt rainy though, its glorious and fresh. Nice quick find thank you!
Finally out on a postponed maintenance run with the CO, I'd have been hard pressed not to find this cache. The fact that I was present when this (and a couple of others) were hidden may have also assisted me .
I walked up to it without any issue and found it, purely from memory. SSR did his due diligence and I did mine.
One down.

The end of me stroll from the pub today
A quick cache find [^]
But I'm freezing cold up here,
while down below,
I can see Hobart basking in warm sunshine [:o]
The long walk back to the geomobile should warm me up a bit

Hello stainless-steel-rat thank you for the cache.
Today I took the afternoon off work so I could go to a funeral of a friend how had died from cancer. After the wake I took the family home and sat down for a coffee and only had a couple of sips when I thought I had enough time to go and replace my missing cache.
By now I had found “PTPT Round the Bend” and replaced my cache and nearly dropped you other cache “PTPT Take it to the bridge” into the creek after finding it.
Now the reason I mentioning I had passed a lady walking a dog, in my log “PTPT Take it to the bridge”. You should know it’s starting to get dark by now and I’m in the middle of the bush.
I way on my way back to the car and to find this cache when I thought I should stop and see how far I still have to go. It was at this time when I spotted the lady with the dog coming towards me again. I said hello again and as she passed I stopped the bike. After looking at the GPS I realised I had gone too far and needed to go back 70m. How do I turn around and walk ride back to the cache without the lady thinking I was following her? Well I got off the bike and waited with my back to her as I didn’t want to scare her if she turned to see what I was up to. After what I thought was a reasonable amount of time I turned and followed her, by now she was out of sight.
At GZ the cache was easily found even though it was a little deeper in the stump than I expected.

Saw this cache had been recently found since my last attempt so took the geodog for a walk along the pipeline track to pick it up. No problems finding it this time! TFTC
Rode right past it on the way out but coming back quickly found in a clear location.

Hi stainless
Had some real good fun with this cache, but the bonus was seeing a lyrebird up close and personal on the way back to the car.
T'was a cold and grey Tassie morn
With another baby cache to be found
On the mountain....(Adaption of the song IN THE GHETTO)
So arrived at Neika and set out on the walk, which as the crow flies was just under 450mtrs away - ended up taking 3873 steps and walking 2.85km by the time I got back to the car.
However, got to GZ and searched high and low for the cache which was not to be found. Read the previous log and Ordex had suffered the same fate.
Decided to look around a little and found the MIA cache lower down the hill; just below the clue zone.
So was able to sign the log and replace as it should be with a rock atop of it. Hopefully some scavenging animal won't be able to flick it out of its roost now.
Sainted this PTPT at 1048hrs.
On the way out, a lyrebird was for food on the track A REAL BONUS FOR ME FINDING THIS CACHE
Tried to get some pics of the "Tasmanian Road Runner" but only one came out good enough to use.
TFTC and cheers

Pretty sure I found the right spot but no cache in sight. Will come back if someone else is successful.
The GeoGSP missed out on a walk along the pipeline track yesterday, so decided to take him for a late afternoon stroll today on the dog friendly section. Not too many muggles late in the afternoon, so this one was found, signed and returned in quick time. Thanks for the cache SSR.
Don't be shocked, but Snuva was actually out caching with her family. (Andy has just fallen of fhis chair in shock.) My complained the whole way, but we did it. This was a bit of a 'that looks like a geocache should be there' find (the boy had the GPSr so I couldn't see what was acutally listed). I was right!
Thank you for the cache, stainless-steel-rat.

Decided to walk along the track as long as we could without running out of steam. Found most of the caches on the way, thanks for placing them all.
**FTF** Hi stainless-steel-rat, thanks for hiding some more PTPT caches. I saw the listings about 8pm last night and was tempted to head out, but firmly believed that FTF was just a fanciful delusion on my part. I later noticed that AlbyDangles claimed 2 of them, which meant he was out way past his bedtime!
When 2 still remained unclaimed this morning around 8:45am, I couldn't sit still any longer, and so headed out, with a glimmer of hope. There were 2 cars at P1, ... damn, were they cachers?
A lovely stroll after the initial up-hill, along the pipeline track to GZ and then a nice quick find.
Extremely pleased and pleasantly surprised to find a clean sheet. TFTC!
(turns out the cars belonged to some joggers I knew who caught up to me later on my return journey)
