Arrived at Allora to catch up with Joo Joo and find a few caches for the day, I started with this one where I had a seat while waiting.TFTC
Today teamdfl and I had a plan to climb up Tabletop and then take the walk along Road Reserve Trail, but sadly we were unable to access the carpark due to a landslide, so we made up Plan B...Followed by Plan C...And now we're up to Plan D This one was collected as we started the AL in the nearby park. Answers have been sent to the CO. TFTEC, Slow Puncture.
Whacky Wednesday with IolantheK. Out this way chasing ALs, stopping as we feel fit. Groovy rock. Thanks for showing it to us. Answers sent.
"I Am a Rock" is a song written by Paul Simon. It was first performed by Simon as the opening track on his album The Paul Simon Songbook which he originally recorded and released in August 1965, only in the United Kingdom. Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, as the American folk rock duo Simon & Garfunkel, re-recorded it on December 14, 1965, and included as the final track on their album Sounds of Silence, which they released on January 17, 1966. It was released as a single in 1966, and subsequently included as the B-side of the 1971 A-side reissue of "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)".Thematically, "I Am a Rock" deals with isolation and emotional detachment. Yes, I did listen to the song on the way home.
This was a quite interesting rock just sitting there in the middle of nowhere in particular. An interesting piece of sculpture with some beautiful patterns. The EC insured we did some closer observations and spent more time examining it and gave us a far greater insight into the sculpture.Thank you for bringing us here.Answers sent.We have had a good time in Warwick and seen and done more than we anticipated but it is time to move on, so we traveled to Toowoomba, not too far!We had stopovers in Allora, Clifton and Nobby where there were Labs and a few caches, as well as to simply look around. It was by chance we thus discovered that Nobby was the home of Steele Rudd of Dad & Dave fame. The things you find out via Geocaching!A short trip broken up with some great discoveries.Thank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Slow Puncture (LJCC).**SKI Pair****
Yesterday I called up my father in law to see if he wanted to go for a drive. Seems he had never been to Allora so was more than happy to come and have a good look at the historical sites in town. We both really enjoyed this rock, and the creativity of the artists. We spent awhile admiring the work and reflecting how long it would take to get those grooves so perfectly aligned. Thanks for this earthcache. Definitely a spot worth seeing.
We found plenty of safe parking even with our van on. We walk to G.Z and sat on the set and checked out the park. Tftc Sent answer's to C.O.
On the hottest day Ive encountered in a while, we tore ourselves away from the delicious air-con in the car to do this cache. It is an amazing piece of sculpture. And my Geohubby is sure that he could see an elephant on the back!! LOLTFTC
Found driving the scenic route home from Stanthorpe. I took some time to answer the questions then had a seat for a photo. Tftc SP!
After setting off from Brisbane yesterday to enjoy a few days away and to explore Warwick and its surrounds we spent last night in the beautiful abbey of the roses in the most amazing room, and managed catch the fabulous World Cup match a the criterion.Go Matilda’s.
Had this one in the radar for this morning and headed out at sparrows this morning for a spot of caching.
Found a safe place to park the car and trundled off to a likely spot where the cache was found quickly, log signed and stuffed back into its hiding place for the next lucky finder to retrieve.
A big thanks to the cache owner for making this cache available for fellow cachers to find.
Cheers

**Found Saturday 22-July-2023 at 15:53 Smiley #2269**Wow, I have slowly just been finding caches, signing logs, logging drafts and simply forgetting about these and never actually logging them. My sincerest apologies to the relevant CO's, especially if I found issues with them and didn't do anything about them.Unfortunately my drafts were also designed to jog my memory about the cache to assist with the logging process. Doesn't work when some of them are over 2 years old. Here comes some generic comments. Once again, I apologise Out and about doing a big loop from home to Toowoomba, south through towards Warwick and then back home through Boonah. Answers sent and the approval was received from the CO'sCache logs are either stamped, signed with Rogersclan13 or just RC13 for space. Thanks for the cache **Slow Puncture** Rogersclan13

We stopped in on this one not long after 6am as we headed south, walking over to GZ I could hear the crunch of the frozen grass. I gathered my details and have sent our answers to the cache owner via the message centre. This was a nice spot and I liked the addition of the southern cross.
Thanks Slow Puncture (LJCC) for the cache.

Out this way for a group CITO on the Condamine River. Afterwards Que Sera, DeafPhantom and myself decided to stop in and check out Allora.
Nice piece of artwork to the north of town.
Thanks Slow Puncture (LJCC) for tracking down the artist and providing some information about their work.

After a paddle down the condamine river Nikid1, Deafphantom and i decided to check out this nice little town and gather some smileys. What a wonderful seat this was and to have the artist himself describe this piece of art was really nice . We are the lucky ones to know all about the making of the seat. Thanks for taking us here and giving it a FP for showing us this art
A summers day, in a green n' warm Allora
Gazing from my car window, AC going, looking at the park beside
Thinking how f'n hot it looks outside
And I've gotta walk to that rock, a fortress deep and mighty
When I'm unlikely to get a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow, or a frosty amber beverage in the next 30 minutes.
Oh well, better have a closer look at this chair when I'd rather be hiding in a bar, I touch no one and no one touches me. And the earthcache was interesting, thanks SP for highlighting this art piece.

We are heading south from Brisbane in 2023 and picking up as many new LGA’s as we can.
I took a seat and studied the rock. Answers sent.
What a year Sandyofthesea and I have had. We kitted out the Prado and took off from Perth, Western Australia at the start of April 2022 to travel more of Australia using geocaching as a guide to see the sights. We started with the Nullabour, Eyre and York Peninsulas, the Riverlands, visited family in Victoria and then back in SA it got cold. Flinders and the Oodnadatta Track was amazing and we finally warmed up in Dalhousie Springs. The Alice beckoned and then a change of plan and we ended up tackling the Tanami Track to the Kimberley and Bungles Bungles. Territory Day in Darwin was unhinged - please try and do it! The Gulf, the coast and the car breaker ‘Old Tele Track’ to the top of Cape York. This is a must but it’s not easy! Eventually made it to Brisbane to get some fixes to the car….. let’s see where we end up.
Slow Puncture (LJCC), I found I Am A Rock today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

TFTEC. I was here earlier in the month and we stopped here on the way to Glen Innes for lunch after spending 2 months in Queensland wandering around. What a lovely little town Allora is. We have only ever passed by here but so glad we decided to call in for lunch.
Today we moved the caravan from Toowoomba to Clifton. Once all set up and lunch was done and dusted we hit the road to try our luck at some smilies. Popped into the butcher at Allora for some yumminess as recommended by other travellers.

I love Simon & Garfunkel's music and play a few of their songs at our jam sessions. What a pity the local council doesn't tidy up the area a little bit and make a real feature out of this huge piece of rock art.
We found all the caches in Allora and this one was the last one to log. Geodog Buddy enjoyed sitting with us for the photo.

This morning JezNDez and I were out doing a health check visit to one of my caches around Cunningham's Gap. Earlier in the week I had read somewhere that there were some paddocks of sunflowers in bloom so we decided to drive out towards Allora for a look.
After driving around a few paddocks and stopping for some photos from the roadside (unlike others who clearly couldn't read the posted signs and went wandering off into the fields for their Insta-worthy photos), we headed off into Allora. The route was a little longer than expected as the road I had planned to take from the sunflower fields to town was closed due to flooding. Obviously the recent rains had been pretty good out this way!
Near GZ there seemed to be a hen's party being held on-the-cheap in the park. Dez resisted the urge to join the ladies for a champers and headed off to GZ to visit the location. The rains had their impact here as well with the grass a lush and healthy green. Dez took prime position in the seat while we gathered the required information and formulated our answers.

and what a rock! If the grass wasn’t so long from the recent good rains, this would be a very pleasant place to sit and ponder. It’s a good sound barrier as I mentioned I was headed back to the car and mum was carrying on a conversation with the air.
The X-Trailers and I had a great time discussing your earthcache. Answers have been forward and ok to log recieved..TFTC and afav point for the great spit to sit and rest.
TFTC. We had decided to spend another night in Warwick while decisions about lock downs and the Mega were still pending. We took a drive out to the historic town of Allora to attempt the caches there and to follow the Adventure Lab around town. A lovely day for a drive and great caching.

#10613 - 13:55; Day three of a road trip with Sol de lune as we head north for the CacheQLD - Dayboro Mega. We had to spend an unscheduled night in Goondawindi due to road closures caused by flooding and after queueing with numerous others at the roadblock outside of town, we were finally able to head off towards Toowoomba around 9:15am this morning. Cached our way through Yelarbon, Inglewood and Warwick before stopping off in Allora for another Adventure Lab plus the other local caches including this one. Visited the rock and gathered the required information. Answers sent to the CO who gave a lightening quick OK! TFTC Slow Puncture

Fangsoki, Radnoski and I were spending New Years camping in Goomburra, and today’s biggest goal was to head here so I could grab this Earthcache, the last one I required to complete an Earthcache challenge. So making a few other stops along the way, as cachers so tend to do, we finally turned up here. A quick dash over to check out the item at GZ, which from the right angle almost looks like the remnants of an old chariot. I will admit I looked past the owl being an owl at first, and saw it as the ornate chariot corner.
Answers discussed, and photos taken, then it was time for some adventure labs before making our journey back to Goomburra, with the additional required caching stops along the way.
Thanks for the cache Slow Puncture (LJCC).

A mountain top on Main Range seemed like a great place to practise some social distancing in these unusual times. In keeping with this policy, the usual Bromance numbers were reduced. So early this morning, Seffnjarah and I headed up Mt Mitchell to collect an earthcache which had been published since I was up there last.
I have had my eye on a centroid challenge in Victoria, which I signed 18 months ago. To qualify for this cache, you need to find the cache closest to your centroid provided it is more than 100k from home. After my most recent batch of finds, I noticed my centroid had moved from about 95 ks west of home base to 115 k.
So having climbed Mt Mitchell, I headed from Cunninghams Gap towards Toowoomba - my centroid cache is about 20ks south of Toowoomba. Along the way, I stopped and grabbed the odd cache, including this one.
I appreciated this sculpture and the geology therein, mostly because the cache description provided some interesting detail.
Many thanks Slow Puncture

While in Allora today for the 150 year celebrations we took the time to walk down and complete this EC.
It was a welcoming spot and a handy seat to have while we completed the questions. Some of the details on the piece were amazing.
We enjoyed the rest of our day around town looking at the history and enjoying the street parade, to get a bit of caching done while here was a nice bonus.

Today we cached around Allora and surrounds. We found 9 caches in a variety of container types and sizes (& DNF'd 1). Thank you for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places to visit on our nomadic wander around Australia.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Making our way home slowly after a hectic weekend caching around Toowoomba and picking up a few caches along the way. Thank you for bringing me here. Answers sent.
Found this cache with my Amazing Geo-Wife KaleidoscopeCass during our 6 day roadtrip starting off with the Geocaching for Newbies event held at Widgee, Qld. Cache was found and signed and logged, Thanks for placing this cache and being a part of our journey!
Thanks to Slow Puncture for going to the effort of placing an Earthcache here. These are wonderful to bring us to a place we would have otherwise not known about and just driven through town. The information provided is fantastic and enriching to learn about. Geohubby WallabyTim and I took a minute to sit on the seat and bask in the winter sun on a chilly day <3
We came across your cache, Slow Puncture, while visiting Warwick on behalf of our RSL Sub-Branch.
