Found with ZEALOG a beautiful evening for a stroll thank you for bringing me here to find your cache
Came in via the high road, much to the small dog doing their very best to defend the homeowners property nearby (from the confine of the property). Thanks for bringing me to this location and for the history.
We were docked in Akaroa New Zealand for the day on our ship - Holland America's Volendam. We started by going to the lighthouse for a cache and then headed up into the hills into the Garden of Tane. What a beautiful place and trails! We then kept going up and did other caches in a few cemeteries and at two monuments. We then went back down and did a few caches and a LAB in Town. We wound up with 9 caches on the day in our 9-mile hike/walk combo.Thank you to GH6710 for 4 of our caches and to the other 5 COs for their efforts and for the other 5 caches.Thank you also to the Lab creator for that Adventure.#####################This Cache: Quick Find by Salts
What a mixed monument of different occasions! Cache was quickly found, but log book was unwritable, so I have taken a photo as proof of my find. TFTC astrohiker
On a weeks tiki tour around the top of the south. What I fine tribute to Aucklands transport hub, I ruefully thought to myself as I climbed the steps to the GZ Ah *that* Britomart I realised as I read the plaque. Now to find the cache. Soggy log meant not possible to sign but heres a photo. Thanks astrohiker#4889Logged using Cachly.
Our second day in Christchurch. But today we got our rental car. As we got the car, it was raining quite a bit. What a day!But as soon as we neared Akaroa, it was a bit better. It was not sunny and warm, but dry. Unfortunately, the contents of the cache are not dry. I could add my name, but it was difficult. Even in the new paper. This one needs maintenance. TFTC and greetings from Germany aussi96
I very much love getting to visit the South Island. Until recently it wasn't something I got to do very often, but in the last year I've managed a series of mini-trips for geocaching, and here we are at the start of 2024 with another one. Just like my first SI trip in 2023, I've come to Christchurch to target a few specific caches to help with my Jasmer Grid, and qualification for a few challenges I'm currently working on.Having arrived an picked up my rental car, I wanted to head over to Akaroa, a place I've only ever visited once before on my first trip to NZ back in '88. It was winter back then, and left an impression in me of being stunningly beautiful. What would it be like in Summer? The answer to that is simply "more stunning". From the moment you crest a hill to see the harbour laid out in front of you, to strolling around the charming townships themselves, I'm so glad I came here today. That feeling is helped with also managing to eliminate 1 of my last 3 remaining NZ Jasmer Grid dates. So having done that, I came back into the township of Akaroa to have a wander around, grab some lunch, and a few casual caches such as this one.I had the place to myself so had no problems making the find. The cache had previously been left on its side, and these containers are not as good at keeping water out as they ought to be so the log is a bit damp. But I managed to get my name on it, before replacing it in the same location but the correct way up to give the log the best chance to not get any wetter. Thanks for setting this one up.
Aprs avoir enqut plus longtemps sur ce hold-up. Nous trouvons la cache.Elle est toute mouille et demande de l'entretien.Tftc
Day three of my trip away with tmann421.Heading to Akaroa and surrounding areas of the Banks Penninsula. Loved the drive around and all the caches we foundSigned all logs tm/ww NZThanks to all the cache owners for the efforts in placing and maintaining all caches.
Down in the Christchurch area with woolwood9. Day 3, Heading to Akaroa - another very nice day out.*Thank you for the reason to visit this cache and location* Soon had the container found, half full of water - really needs something more water resistant!
Found it thanks. Had laid cache on its side. Hopefully may get a chance to dry out.
Very interesting info about this cache. Thanks for showing us it. Lovely views across the bay. Quick find but the log book is very wet. Signed as best we could.
Enjoyed reading about the history, makes you stop and think of those have been here before. Cache took waaay longer than it should have to find! Gps was bouncy and eventually ignored it and spread my search out. Found with an ah there it is! moment! TFTC and bringing me here.
Another interesting spot while visiting the area. As with the previous logs, the cache was too wet to sign. Tftc
Interesting spot that probably would have been missed but for this app. Climbed the hill then enjoyed the view before locating the cache. Unable to sign log as soaked. Tftc
Found it thanks for bringing me here unfortunately the log is very wet my pen did not want to write hence the photo
We were here a year and a half ago completing the PWGT Geotour and came up to this monument, we think to complete a virtual stage of the tour.
Somehow we missed getting this one at the time and didn’t even realise it was here but today we were back in Akaroa and made sure we remedied the situation.
The cache was a nice quick find, tucked away out of sight.
Unfortunately the log is saturated and can barely be written on but we did our best.
Great place for a cache though and we are very pleased to finally turn this into a smiley.
TFTC,

Yay! TFTC! Came all the way from Vancouver BC to find this cache! Thanks for being part of the adventure
Greetings from Scotland. Took a few minutes to find this one, signed log and replaced. Great views TFTC.
Day #4 of my 11 day holiday and heading to Akaroa for the week.
After checking in to our Hotel it was time to explore. A short walk and soon had cache in hand TFTC

AliGle and I were traveling around the middle and upper South Island, with the main focus being the completion of the PWGT3 and PWGT4 GeoTours, but we found a few other caches along the way. A quick find while working on the PWGT multi. Pen ran out as we signed the log! TFTC!
A quick find with Vistra. Pen run out but tried to write V/A for Vistra and Aligle. Took a photo (attached)
A beautiful day out on Christmas Day and thank you for the history lesson The inside of the cache is damp and all of the log books are damp. The replacement one I can still write on it, but it is damp.
Great little town. Day before and after B days, nice wee cache. Love the kiwi!! Tftc
TFTC worth the climb up the steps. Not at ground zero according to my iPhone.
Needs maintenance as the cache is wet. Log in zip lock bag but still wet.

Great to see the Union Jack flying, site appears to be a popular place for dog walkers, muggled twice; TFTC
Talla64 found this one while we were on a PWGT mission around the South Island. What a wonderful view from here. We visited with TipsyTui, geojunior and our son. An enjoyable day spent in Akaroa. Thanks for the cache.
Found with Flowerydaze and Talla64 while on a day trip to Akaroa. I've visited Akaroa several times before but this was the first time that I've visited the Britomart Monument. Great spot for a cache - TFTC!
Came here during our road trip to the SI on a hunt for PWGT's but this one slipped in. Came here with Tipsy Tui and Flowerdaze. TFTC astrhiker
In Akaroa for a family holiday. Went out for a bike ride and found some caches. Found with Conbat. TFTC!.
A quick search turned up this cache while out exploring Akaroa.

We are spending the day in Akaroa, specifically to find all the PWGT caches, but also wanting to find anything else we have time for.
We visited the Britomart Monument as part of the PWGT multi, and then realised there was also a trad here. Spent way too long searching, but finally found the decent sized container in a logical spot. Thanks.

Up here to collect info for the PW multi and for once I took my filter off and found another. Found in the second place I looked. I was just dismaying at the amount if fallen material that I thought I might have to move when found without the need to. TFTC.
Up in CHCH for work and have a few days off so caching it is. Was a nice quick and easy find. I do love caches like this. So hot out here today can feel myself get sun burnt. TFTC
Have been here before and we couldn’t find the cache. The main reason for that was that we were not alone, so any searching we did was cursory glances here and there. After about 10 minutes we left.
No issues today, it was found in a few minutes and we had the place to ourselves. TFTC astrohiker. Interesting history.
A trip to Akaroa today for RG1972 and I and the plans (from a caching point of view) were pretty loose.
The adventure lab out there, if we can.
The geotour ones in the vicinity (although it’s unlikely we will ever qualify with all of those for PWGT4). Still, you have to get them while you are here, I guess.
Apart from that, just have fun and see what we come across.
A great day weather wise and we found a few spots that were new to us, including the Giants House in Akaroa and the Hinewai Reserve up the hill. Awesome fun, thanks all COs!

Located with Ricardinho
2nd time to this location, a year ago we couldn't locate it because of so many other visitors. Today we had the place to ourselves & we found it without too much difficulty
Beautiful view from this location
A trip to Akaroa today for RNZ & me, nice to get out of the city & explore. The weather was stunning & we had a great day all round. Highlight for me was definitely stumbling across the Giants house. If you get to Akaroa it's a MUST SEE!

Were on a bike ride along the water front, spontaniously stopped and walked up here to the Monument. Didn‘t have pen with us…
Taken out by Knotobsessed for a day of caching even with my knee problem.
Missed where the track started and once found made my way slowly up the hill. Talk about a work out today. After finding the necessary info for the Adventure Lab we couldn’t leave this one behind. Found quickly and with the log book wet and yuck I replaced in a new bag. Left others in container for owner to remove.

Good way to finish off another hunt was to find a trad at the end as well. Cache and logs were rather wet so tried to get rid of as much water as possible and thankfully KCN had some spare logbooks on hand
TFTC!
TFTC!
Here on a double mission. First to collect the information for the multi and once that was sorted, find this cache. It took me longer than it should have - not helped by all the walkers that come through here on some loop walk. Got there in the end. Log a bit damp. TFTC # 17,272
Down from Auckland for another blitz upon the PWGT caches and other caches that appeal to us. On this trip there is FMZ, rustynz, Rebel98 and myself in Christchurch for 3 days of fun and another adventure.
While my crew were investigating this cache, I was busy coming up with final co-ords for the PWGT multi, this memorial was the last WP to visit, so about the time I had finished that, the team finished this trad, good timing.

Quick find here while doing the pwgt multi. Great spot and interesting history. TFTC!!!
This Westie group is exploring Akaroa and finding a few extra caches along the way.
Got parking at the bottom, and climbed the stairs in the rain, only for a group of muggles to be found at the top, posing with the view.
Well they moved on and upward (we will go down!) so off we went to grab the cache. This one was full of water, but I was able to write all our names on the log.
Fun find, thanks for the hide astrohiker

Day #7 of my Geotour.
A short day from Akaroa to Christchurch, although there were plenty of side trips.
A Multi brought me here to look at the monument so why not collect a Trad while in the area.
A quick find and sign.

Continuing on our PWGT journey visiting the Canterbury area this weekend. We located this cache while visiting the area. Two wood pigeons witnessed us signing the log TFTC.
In Akaroa today finding geotour caches and an oldie. Had no idea there was a memorial here. More history and a great view.
Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC

Thanks astrohiker for the cache. It’s #1509 for us. We found your cache on 3 May 2021. Another great viewing spot in this lovely town. TFTC
Sorry for the late log. We had a number sitting on an old phone that i though had logged but they hadn't. Found during our April 2021 South island road trip.We decided to head to Akaroa for lunch as we hadn't been before. Took us a little time to work out the best place to park. Once park after a short walk we soon had the cache.
Lovely walk around Akaroa, came here from Lincoln (long way from home) in our camper exploring our local area - TFTC
7 April 2021 14:00. A consolation cache gathered whilst I tried and failed to work out the PWGT multi from the info on the monument. TFTC, another 2.5+ cache for the DGSC Challenge.
I write "WRITE NOTE" because it is a time when we can't go on a long adventure, so I travel in the memories of my visits to New Zeusemad. Of this adventure in New Zealand, I only stretch Travel Bug. Writing "FOUND IT" is probably not right anymore, it wasn't today, but I was here before. And unfortunately I won't get here again.
I am sending a beautiful greeting from the Czech Republic.

Down from Northland for a one week trip to Christchurch to pick up some solved puzzles, challenges, unusual cache types, Jasmer grid fillers, as well as a few others in passing.
Today we were off on a trip to Akaroa and after stopping off to do an AL on the way, passed by for fish and chips and then headed to this monument.
Cache was soon located, log signed, dropped off a TB and extag and then returned safe and secure as found. TFTC
Behind stump dropped tb and xtag

We are looking for WP4 for the geo-tour cache and realised there was another cache here too so that was a bonus. M had been searching all over the place but once I started looking I walked straight to it. Hidden in a classic geocaching way. A very interesting place which we would never have found if it wasn't for geocaching.
Neither of us have ever been to Akaroa before, which is hard to fathom considering the many times we have been to Christchurch.
The publication of the newly released tour caches was the inspiration we needed to come and have a look around while finding the tour caches.
I am still getting around on crutches so I did not go up to find this one, instead I stayed in the truck and waited. GK was near here getting some information, so I rang him and told him there is a traditional near where he was, so he found it while in the area.
He said it was a nice quick find, he signed the log and returned it as he found it.
This is an interesting area that he would not have visited if it were not for geocaching.
Thank you for placing this cache and of course thank you for the smiley
